How about sombody spending 30 seconds and post what is going to be happening with the VPO this year. Last year there were only 33 ams because nobody had any idea that it was happening untill the week of the event. :(

VPO will be a combined Pro/Am event this year and will be held on November 4th and 5th. We're still working on all of the details and Toolen should have me all of the info in the next week on exactly how we are going to do it.
Sorry for the delays people, I'm milking the info out as fast as I can.

Will it be sanctioned as a split tier A-Pro/B-Am ?

Sep 27 2006, 03:43 PM
As far as I know that's how we are doing the sanctioning, but please don't take my word as bond. Communications have obviously been horrible lately due to several factors so I could be mistaken. I'm in Tennesee today and tomorrow so I'll try to get everything wrapped up with Toolen this weekend.

Sorry guys, these f'ing things called wireless routers have created quite a weekend for me . I'm actually thankful to have an office left at this point.
Pro divisions will be limited to:
MPO 25 players
MPM 15 players
FPO 10 players
MPG 10 players
Am feilds are as follows
MA1 30 players
MMI 15 players
MA2 15 players
No recreational division this year due to the limited field size and all AM ladies that have a desire to play will be accomadated. The entry fees will be on the same scale as last year and I'll post those shortly. Hopefully I'll have evrything to TitleDisc this evening for pre-registration and as always you will be able to sign-up at the weekly minis. Any spots not taken in pre-registration will be available to Open players until Saturday morning. I'm going to talk to Terry about any spots left after 8 AM Saturday being open to anyone, but as of now those spots are onty open to the Elite.
I'll try and get all of this done and posted before I go to bed. It should be a good year, last year we added $2500 to the Open divisions and we hope to do the same if not better this year. Plus 3 rounds of 24 holes at the Vet with a final 9 is a win-win situation for the players :D.
Edit: Did anyone else find it strange that My-Hero was able to post at 4:20?????
vinnie
Oct 10 2006, 07:47 AM
I can just hear Ginneta....For what I am about to post. Lov u dear!
30 advance?
Givem 15 spots and make the other 15 trophy only.......Its the end of the year...time for some of these advance players to test out the waters. If you all decided to do....no need in givin me credit.....Tell Ginnetta made the call....no one but I can get away messing with her :D
so, this could be an issue. Here is my dilemma.
I was planning on playing Open @ VPO, even though I do not plan on going Pro untill Am Worlds 07. My presence in Open would fill a spot that a potential Elite player could fill. A trophy only division in OPEN ( if I am understanding vinnies post) would give me the opportunity to compete with the ELITE , yet not be a burden to the Open availability. Any thoughts???
I am willing to forgoe my entry fee, we can call it a donation....... I would like to be lucky enough to play with some quality professionals, hint.....hint....

MPO needs to have at least 35 spots if that many open players want to play.
This is why pro/am A-tiers don't work. :(

hey, without Ams players there's no added funds for whatever Pros do play. isnt that the way it works everywhere? VPO isnt the first to use this model.
How long does it take to play a full round at the Vet?
seewhere
Oct 10 2006, 01:35 PM
I would say these rounds will take 4+ hours.
Anybody that experienced the massive log jam @ VPO last year ( champion hole 8 ) will tell you that these rounds will take about 4 hours, if you are lucky. Champion 8 is a great hole, the only problem is that it is so **** intimidating lots of people shank real bad. A shank on that hole will easily lose a piece of plastic for you.... Hence the log jam. Spotters or not, some golfers are just going to shank on that one!

In a way it could be looked at that way, but I don't think that happens as much as you think. I would say the difference in whole sale and retail....goes in the TD/club's pocket (which is all good).
A trophy only entry would go directly into the pro payout purse (minus the cost of trophy)

I'll talk to Toolen regarding the trophy only division, I kind of like that idea myself. The rounds will be long but we are thinking that holes like champions 8 & 2 would be played in the final 9 to eleviate some of the waits.
Now if I can keep the computer at the house up for more than an hour I'll get the entry fees posted.

Jason, consider leaving in Champion 8 for more than just the final 9. That is a great hole and for some people this is the only chance they get to throw it.
I'll be one of the spotters at the bottom again and we always do our best to keep the players moving and the game flowing. I believe we lost one disc last year. That makes two discs in four years that the spotters could not find. That's not bad.

The Arlington Disc Golf Association proudly presents the 2006 Veteran’s Park Open. This year will be a combined Pro/Am and we will have a limit on the field size per division*. All players will be playing 3 rounds of 24 holes each and then we will cut to a final nine holes. We are still in the process of determining final field sizes and where the cut is going to be so please be patient. Either before or after the final nine we will have Ace Golf in the Oaks for anyone who is interested in some really fun golf.
The field sizes are (until further notice) as follows:
Pro fields
MPO 25 players
MPM 15 players
FPO 10 players
MPG 10 players
Amateur Fields
MA1 30 players
MM1 15 players
MA2 15 players
Any amateur women that wish to play the event will be accommodated and their entry fee will be the same as the male divisions. If any women wish to sign up in the FPM or FPG division we will need a minimum of three to make that division, please check with Terry Toolen or Jason Chamberlain to see if that is a viable option.
Entry fees:
MPO $105
FPO $105
MPM $70
MPG $70
MA1 $60
MM1 $60
MA2 $45
The ace pot and Ace Golf are optional and will cost you $5 each on top of your entry fee. This will be an A-Tier for all Open divisions and a B-Tier for all amateur divisions. Please register early by http://titledisc.com, snail mail is ADGA P.O. box # 120927 Arlington, TX 76012 or with Terry or myself at the Sunday mini or wherever you see us. I really hope to have a great field this year and can’t wait to see some of you guys.

i was gonna play Pro Masters if my hand is healed. but if half the field is low entry trophy only, forget it. no real upside.
if the hand isnt healed, i might just skip this event. depends on the doctor.
To clarify : the trophy only division in open gives adv. players such as myself an opportunity to test the waters in Open. The money still goes to the Open purse. The only reason this topic was brought up was the limited capacity in Open. I would like to play this event in open, but I am not going to be the reason a QUALITY player would not make the event! Hence the trophy only division. Still can compete with the best and brightest, still put monies in the Pro purse. An opportunity like this will only promote new players in the Open Field. Which all you guys that do compete @ an open level, should embrace. More money for you!
This is getting pretty stupid. I am going to play advanced , and do all you guys a favor! :D:D:D

It is a lower entry fee (roughly half the full fee). For an event that has trouble filling it is a good idea. Sadly, it looks like the VPO is becoming one of those events.

Oct 12 2006, 06:47 PM
Man this will teach me not to check the board for a few hours.
If we offer the trophy only division it will be MPO spots, not FPO or MPM, and the advanced division will have a smaller field size. Basically we will just add another 10 or 15 MPO spots that are reserved for trophy only and limit advanced to 20 or 15 players, any of the trophy only spots not taken will go back to the advanced field. This is not hurting any division other than advanced as far as #'s go, so if Filthy Feet wants to play advanced then this may affect him. If not then I really do not see why he is complaining , it's not going to effect the geriatic division at all. I'll post the final decision on this shortly.

Unfortunately he wont be able to make it due to the Players Cup and his son Riley(Halloween is really important to 4th graders). Hopefully the weather will stay nice and make for some excellent footage! I am working on a synchronised dual camera effort.
