Brian Mace is going to be in town on Tuesday, August 29th, to conduct a MaceMan Doubles event.

Here is what information I have from Brian so far:

"Mace Man doubles is random draw doubles with a pro/am split. These events accomplish many things but the main goal of the event is to eliminate the intimidation factor that comes with being a new player. New players, as I am sure you are aware, think that they aren't good enough to play tournaments or interact with "the good players". Because they are new and not so skilled they feel like they don't have a chance. This is where the pro/am split comes in. This means that a pro or advanced player will get a partner that is at the beginner to intermediate level. This opens the door to the new player. It introduces them to the experienced players, the people that organize events in the area, as well as the players that can give a variety of advice including pointing them in the right direction for equipment. In short it gives them an opportunity to join your group of local players.

The entry fee for this event is $10 and pays back 100%. The payout is in Mace Man merch. This gives me an opportunity to get out and in front of the players in your area."

Mace has a lot of excellent disc golf merchandise, as well as a wide array of PLASTIC!
:D

I'm not sure if he's playing, or not.

How many people are we expecting?

I'm not sure how many players will be there. There are flyers posted at the U of A HPER Building (in 7 locations), and at Lewis and Clark. I've passed out flyers at the park, talked to a few friends, and Kelly Ganzel has also been passing out flyers. It's funny- I couldn't put flyers at Northshore promoting an event being held there, but I did get the U of A to put up flyers promoting a non-U of A event.

Is Brian making a speical trip up here to do this?

Fayetteville is one of the places he wanted to come to on his 2006 MaceMan Doubles Tour. I rented the course from 3-9pm so he could do this.

We need info!!! :D

Hopefully I'll be able to make it up to Fayetteville for this event. I'm gonna feel like a loser playing as an intermidiate, seeing as how i've been playing for 8 years. Oh well....i'm used to feeling like a loser. :D

Watch out though i'm getting better at this left handed throwing business. Seriously, watch out, cause i'm not sure which way it's gonna fly!

Kyle - Are you game to team up for this?

It's amazing how two 970-players become pretty good when it comes to dubs..... Anyway, I can't make this, but I might be auditing a company in Rogers next month. So, I will keep you up to date.

Nah - I won't be there tomorrow, but I am glad you feel for it. I will find out this week if the audit goes through. If so, I should be the one going to Fayetteville!

Great turnout at Northshore last night. 28 players! :D
Thaks to all of the participants, especially those of you who "stepped up" to the A pool in order to allow an even split beween pools.
Thank you for coming to see us Brian!
