Dear all,
The final meeting for the draft plan of Horseshoe Farm Park went very well last night. Kirk spoke about how disc golf is an inexpensive feature of a park and how DG is inexpensive sport. Terri discussed the growth of disc golf in the state and the demographics of the sport. Robert spoke of how disc golf is environmentally responsible. He even flashed the rule book to quote chapter and verse on our prohibitions on littering and damage to plant life. Richard next discussed the fitness aspects of disc golf, And how cool it was for a new player to discover the joy of throwing a disc through the woods. I spoke about the work that RADL has done over the past 22 years for the Park System and summarized the reasons to include DG in Horseshoe Farm.
There is a two week window for e-mailing the park board to request the addition of disc golf in Horseshoe Farm park.
the address is parkplan@ci.raleigh.nc.us and please include Horseshoe Farm in the subject line.
The prevailing concepts behind the park are to keep it as natural as possible, emphasis canoeing/fishing and for eco teaching. We tried to persuade them that disc golf is the most environmentally friendly sport.
Here is the draft plan.

If you are a local, tell the board why you feel disc golf would work in this type of park, and any other reasons why Raleigh needs another DG course.
If you do not live here, why would another course in Raleigh be important to you.
If you do not want DG in Horseshoe Park tell them that.
Opinions on all sides of topics, openly discussed are the cornerstones of civilization.
We will need the assistance of all club members in the future as RADL tries to devolope more courses for you.
Thanks, Craig
