For those that have not heard. I got a call last night from Ganzel and was shocked, upset and saddened to hear that our own Denny Reaves was killed in a fire at his apartment early thurs. morning. I don't know all the details, all I know is he is gone and disc golf will never be the same for me. I still can't believe this has happened and he won't be at the park this Sat. or taking a road trip to Tulsa to help clean up. I have lost a very good friend as I know others will be just as upset when they hear the news. I ask all who read this to keep his family, especialy his two young daughters,in your prayers and give them the strength to get through this difficult time.
GOD SPEED Dennis Reaves(#28415)
It was a pleasure to be your friend.

His PDGA number was immortalized in a WVO mini. I'm sorry to hear that he has moved to the big pole hole in the sky.

I knew Denny, he was a great guy and a pleasure to be around. Good disc golfer too.
This does not make any sense at all? It seems like death is happening way to much lately! If there is anything the Tulsa guys can do for Denny or his family please don't hesitate to ask us.

This is a huge loss for disc golf. He was the perfect example of what we need as representation for our sport. Just in the few times I have talked to him since I met him last year, I have always felt the utmost respect for him. He was a straight forward, very friendly person. If there is anything that can be done to help lighten the load on his family please let me know. I will be glad to help in anyway possible. (food, financial, fundraising.memorial tourney, etc...)

:( Wow I really don't know what to say. I'm shocked, sad, and upset at this awful news. Darrell said it best. "Disc golf will never be the same for me". My heart, strength, and prayers go out to his family and girls. When information of the funeral arrangements are made please post for I would like to attend. :(

I don't think there are any words that can really best Describe Denny. He was a great man and father. I got the chance to play with Denny on Wednesday and all he could talk about was how he wanted his little girls to see these crazy birds that were flying around and how they would love to chase them. When I said goodbye that day I had no Idea that I would never see him again. This town will never be the same along with the game. I will always remember Denny and my prayers go out to his family.
Dennis Reaves #28415 may your spirit live on in the hearts of Disc Golfers all over Arkansas

Well, I imagine Denny's out playin' the best courses Heaven has to offer. :DAnd I know he misses his girls. Denny worked hard to provide for Skyler and Meadow. He loves them. Denny would want us to help them and their momma, Rebecca. He loves her too. Rebecca says thank you to everyone who contributed to the ace pot and for the love that all of you have shown for Denny, she is just starting to realize how many friends he has. I miss him, and I know all of you do too.

A U.S. Air Force service will be held in Topeka, Kansas with his family Saturday May 6. A service will be held locally, I'll post the date when I know more. A local memorial tourny is also being planned.
Tulsa is hosting the Denny Reaves Memorial Tournament the same saturday, May 6. The tourny will be held at Kelly Lane Park, call me or Dave Wise or contact the TDSA for directions. Thank you, Dave Wise, Dave Zucconi, and the TDSA for your donations and for giving golfers an event to remember Denny Reaves. Any donations will go to help his girls, Skyler and Meadow.
I Just recently started to get to know Denny, and he already had an effect on me. I can't imagine how hard this must be for his family, and everybody who has been with him almost every day. He was a great golfer and an amazing person. I know he will not be forgotten.

We will be having a get together this sat. in honor of Denny. Some friends and family members from Kansas will be in town also. It should go down around 11 or 12.
Sorry Tulsa, this is something we need to do.
I know you need as many bodies as possible for the tee pad work but we need to do this now.

Larry Q has relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He needed help getting there with a truckload of his possesions, so I, with Ganzel''s help, and Larry left Thursday night. Arrived midday Friday. unloaded, was treated to FINE quisine by Larry's sister, and spent Saturday night at a local casino hotel that was by far the nicest I have seen. Played a round in a park downtown that was as pristine as you could imagine, mature trees, elevation changes, lush manicured grass, concrete teepads---absoutely beautiful. Even maintained by the City. Shortly after teeing on #1, kinda felt something wasn't quite right. Discs flying everywhere from all directions. Came to find out 9 baskets and 18 teepads made for some unusual golf. Still, it was great fun and the locals, as are most discers, were extremely nice.
Returned to Springdale early Sunday morning. Seems we outran the weather and returned just as it had passed the area-parts of Springdale were without power. Weird coming into town during dark hours with no traffic lights.
Almost caught up on sleep as of this writing. I'm confident Larry will enjoy Albuquerque, it was a beautifully scenic part of the US. I was born there but remebered very little.
I hope he will return to visit. Heck of a golfer!
