Well here's the first sign.Who's gonna run it? Where's it gonna be hosted at?Definately on the day of Almas Fireworks Show.2nd round must be at Alma.The buzz is in the air.I say Non Sanctioned.1 Day.Both rounds at Alma? Or one BG one Alma? Or one Northshore one Alma?C Mon, Somebody step up.Great day for golf. :cool:

Northshore - 2 rounds Sat.
Ben Geren - 1 round Sun. Morning
Alma - 1 round Sun. Afternoon

July 4 is on a tues. this year, when's Almas fireworks?

It's a great chance for a cooperative effort between NWADGC and WAFDA, we could make it a non-sanctioned glorified mini
1 day or 2 day, but if we do it we need to somehow 1st gather some better interest for a better turn-out (22 players last year)

Does Fayetteville have a next tourney scheduled?

I'm certainly not experienced enough to direct a tourney but I want to help in anyway possible.

Fireworks will probably be on the sunday before the 4th.I'll check with the Mayor on this.It's pretty important we play the day of the show.

Maybe you should call one of the assistants (aka - Kyle) from last year. We have already been talking about some ideas.

BTW - Non sanctioned - Why?
Alma - Has it been beefed up? Albeit it that Kyle and I love hole #1 (Thanks to his ace, the first part of the course was pretty weak and didn't match up with the better back 9).

My vote for the format
2 rounds at Northshore
2 rounds at one other course (not both) It's a lot of travel.
No shifting players and their divisions. If they sign up in a division, don't move them just to spread the payout.

Alma is definitely being beefed up, bottom 7 easy holes will be gone - moved to the woods by the lake, most others are being modified also, mandos, 2 definite water risk holes, 4 holes with the cliff and rough brush on either side, 11 WOODED fairway shots, 1 of the wooded short tough leftie dog leg, 1 of the other wooded shots long with a definite right dog leg, probably not hyzerable. All of this redesign is currently in process, fairways have been cut, are being cleaned, also 18 new innova disc catchers just ordered, slated completion is early May with concrete to follow that. WAFDA will host the 2nd Annual Alma Greens Tournament 1 day C tier on June 24th - more info on the PDGA site. Kyle if you read this call Pitch, I forgot that you helped Boobs on it,
that was my 2nd and worst scoring tourn. ever but it was fun!
Format can be worked out we're just lookin for a 2 club shared effort event

Whoever steps up to do this CAN sanction it.I'm not opposed to that one.Matter of fact I welcome it.I'd play a two day event.But most who wanna travel would prefer one day.At least that's what I caught wind of last year.The NW Doubles Challenge can be hosted at one course you know.The least driving and hassles will produce more players I think.But like I said.This is someone elses baby.KYLE!!! One day event
9:00 players meeting, tee off 9:30 sharp 1st round Ben Geren longs - best shot
1:00-1:15 tee off 2nd round Ben Geren shorts - Devil Golf (6 worst shot, 6 alternate shot, 6 alternate tee)
4:30 pm tee off 3rd round Alma - best shot

If that's pushing it on time, here's another option:

I second the dirty south donkey's opinion only I like the 2 day approach - Sat. at Northshore - Sun. at Ben Geren & Alma,
Northshore 1st Round - Best Shot
Northshore 2nd Round - Cali
2 days is worth .04 cents :)

Fayetteville to Ben Geren - 45 Minutes maybe an hour
Ben Geren to Alma - 15 to 20 minutes
Think about the driving at the Worlds in Tulsa (traffic) - that's a piece of cake. I guess If we get a TD, the TD can decide. Maybe we can get Kyle, Pitch, Jr., Flyin-G and Super D to draw straws.

Ok I am in lets do this two day I think is more fun, and The traveling is not that bad. There are enough golfers in this area to put up people from out of town so they don't have to spend a whole lot of money. We might as well keep it like last year it worked out pretty good. First day at northshore two rounds then second day Ft Smith and Alma to conclude witht he Alma fireworks and swimming at the end of the day.

Way to go Kyle.Sanctioned? Doesn't matter to me but if you want to do it we'd better get it up on the schedule.Last year was an XC.Weekend still depends on the weekend of the show.I JUST called Mayor Ballentine.I'll give you the date ASAP.Will probably be the 1st and 2nd. Weekends open as far as local tourneys.Good dates. :cool:

OK,OK.Just got word on date for fireworks.Not Good :(Monday July 3rd ,This is the date every year.Oh well,1st and 2nd still sound good to me.Maybe some golf at Alma on the 3rd anyway.If i'm not mistaken this is looking like a FOUR DAY WEEKEND. :cool:

whats a four day weekend? :confused: i'm lucky if i can get one day off each week to call a weekend. if you can one day off a weekend. i call it two shifts off in a row. :D
