Alma mini? I was wanting to get some people togather for a small mini, down in Alma in the next week or so. I thought it would be a great chance to get a feel for the new layout before Alma Greens. Just wanted to see what everyone's schedules are like and when might be a good day to do this. I'm thinking sometime during the week would be the best bet. Chris Pleis and a couple of Little Rock guys are already planning on coming down. During the week seems to work best for them. Anyways let me know if you might be interested in joining us. If you saw baskets, that's it, there's only 1 course in Fayetteville. We have a mini on Sat & Sun at 1:00, Sat is singles Sun is flip doubles.
There's usually a mini on Tuesdays but not this week.(Am worlds)

Austin is loaded with courses, 20 or more in about a 20 mile ratius. I've played two on my stay out there a few years back, Barthalomew & Pease parks are nice check'em out

Yeah there are alot of choices in this area for sure. I played Pease park yesterday. Had alot of fun and some challenging holes. I really liked the signature hole where the basket was elevated on some rocks about 3 feet high and stuck right in the middle of 3 huge trees. Also the view of the state capitol on one of the teeboxes was quite nice. Not to mention that it's right next to campus so there are always cute girls running around. Take it easy fellas! :D

Played another Austin Disc Golf Course yesterday. Brushy Creek was the name of the course and it was a fun one. Not alot of long holes but it was definatley a lefty course. The weird thing to me was the desert style setting. Alot of cactus and palm style of trees. It was fun and I shot
-3 but was capable of shooting around -6 or -7. Guess I'll play a different course next Monday. Hope everyone is doing well.

Had a great time playing the course today.

Some of my favorite holes may have been some of the more easy to layout holes. My guess would be that they took the least amount of work.

I really liked the hole that played to the walking bridge. Plenty of room to play for a 3, or you can bomb a drive and go for the risky 2. If the basket was on the slope closer to the bridge you could get some crazy rolls on missed putts.

Hole 5 is a very well designed hole. The best luck I had was Buzzz to the middle, Buzzz to the pin. The driver off the tee is just trouble.

I also liked the hole in the very back. It was an anhyzer that was guarded by 3 cedar trees. I got to know those trees very well.

As far as the wooded holes go, the "V" hole was interesting. Played it the right way and scored a 3. Played it backwards down the hole that runs behind its fairway and scored and ez 4. Pretty cool hole for sure.

The last tunnel shot 16 (?) was a good shot. I really had to flirt with that first tree on the left to get into scoring position.

All in all fun to play.


You better score before you get to the last 2 holes. 17 is going to give you a lot of 4's. It is hard to judge distance in that wide open space. 18 is a 4 for almost every time, almost never a 3, and more often then not a 5.


It will be interesting to see what the winning score is this weekend.

Almswillie will be bringing the coach from Farmington middle school out to play a round of golf at Northshore. If it is not raining, we should be out there by around 3:45 or 4:00. I am not sure he will have time to stay around for the Wookie Wednesday, but we are going to play one round for sure.

Stacey and I played a few holes at lunch earlier this week and it was still pretty mucky at 2, 3, 4,5, 6,7,8, well you get the picture. But it sure was nice to play 18 with it mowed. Nice tight path to drive at :cool: By now it should all be dried up and playing sweet. It looked like they had mowed again today. :D

TreeShark and I have decided to take our annual Day of Disc Golf into NWA since he has yet to play Bella Vista and JB Hunt. We are going to play Bella Vista first, probably around 8 or 8:30, then we will hit JB Hunt, and if we still have time we'll do Northshore before lunch. Or take lunch then do Northshore. Then we will move down to the River Valley and do Alma and Greenwood (possibly Ben Geren or Tilles depending on time).

Not the best "Day of Disc Golf" we have ever had, but we still had a lot of fun and played ALOT of golf. We took ALOT of steps too, as was recorded with my pedometer that I am wearing for a "Walk Across America" challenge at school. I am going to give the pedometer (step) count for each course we played, just because I think it is interesting!

We started with Bella Vista. John and I both really enjoyed the course until the last two holes. John got off-line and I just don't have the ar, so we ended up with 5's and a 6 and circle-7. It was pretty bad to end on, but expected of such length. When it was all said and done John beat me by one stroke (the circle-7 on the last hole) and we had walked 8,800 steps (that equates out to 24,200 feet, or 4.6 miles). That's ALOT of ground to cover for one round of golf!!!

Then we went to the Jones Center, only to find it covered with kids practicing their golf SWING (ball golf) on the course. Although it was tempting to throw around and over 50 or so 6-9 year olds, we decided to just go on to JB Hunt.

We had some trouble navigating this course and neither of us had ever played a round on the set course (had only been there for the fundraiser that had 9 other baskets in the same area). After covering 4200 steps (11000+ feet, 2+ miles) and only finding holes 1-3 true tee boxes and holes, making up hole four from about 100 feet right of the #3 basket to #4 basket, and shooting from about 100feet from 4 basket to #9 (It looked like a GREAT shot!!), we decided to call it a day at JB hunt, and left the park shooting holes 1-3 at Willie -1, and John +1.

Then we ate lunch and made our way to Northshore. Here we played through the course with some good and some REALLY bad shots. When it was all over, thanks to John missing a 15 foot par putt on 18 (while I yelled "SHANK SHANK SHANK" in the background) we came out with a 60 each. We had covered the course in 6,??? steps (about 18,000 feet, or 3.5 miles).

Our last stop of the day was at ALma, our home course. John pulled up four strokes on me on the front nine (his length outdid my putting), although I was very proud to be looking at a 60 foot birdie putt on #7 (long DAM shot) even if I did miss it. Then on the back nine I made my move on him a couple of different times, pulling within two strokes on two occasions, but he always had an answer. He would not allow my tomohawk over the top on hole 15 (something about a mando) that landed 10 feet from the hole (easy birdie) and that broke my spirit, leaving him 3 up on me through the last 3 holes. We came out of Alma at 58 and 61 respectively. Having walked an additional 7??? steps ( about 20000 feet and 3.5 miles)

We decided to call Alma our last stop, although we had intentions to make the mini in Fort Smith, as we were pretty tired, hot, and at least one of us needed some powder! :0


Overall John beat me by 2 strokes, we played 3 full courses, and walked half of another, and we walked 28,872 steps - 79398 feet, or 15.04 miles!!! Quite a day for sure!!

Myself and my bro-in-law John will be making our annual pilgrimage to many disc golf courses in one day! This year it is going to happen in NWA, with us starting at Belle Vista, then going to Sports Life, JB Hunt and Northshore.
The Day of Disc golf will be happening on Sunday the 6th. I wanted to play the Alma mini Sunday, but things happen, and I FOR SURE want to get our annual day in so....
Anyone free Sunday, that wants to play ALOT of disc golf, the car leaves Chester about 6am, and should be in BV by 7:30 or so. I would love to get some NWA guys along, as I don't know Sports Life (at all) and JB Hunt only a little. Give me a call if you are up for some golf! 670-2641
