Well Deering and I were the only members who tracked up to Minnesota for the DSO. Unfortuntely neither of us cashed. I felt like I played well but had some misfortunes I could not overcome. Jon Drummond ran away with the win. And Deering played in his first tourney and took home a CTP of a big mirror Heineken thing he was pumped.

Directions were added on the course directory on the 9th i believe. Very short course, only a few holes over 300ft, but has a good variety of short shots that will help with short game. Best I have shot out there so far is a -14, out of a few rounds I have gotten a birdie on every hole on the course though. The shots are easy enough that putting is key ;)

from milwaukee take 94 to rawson, east on rawson to a right on 38, and then a left on drexel and the park entrance is on the right very easy to miss

Tower Ridge is a course that really puts your skills to the test. It's feast or famine out there. If you nail the drive ... all is good. If you get off the fairway ... you are toast! The last 2 years I've have really good first rounds ( under par ), only to blow up in the second round. :( Play it safe and shoot for par, and you will be in the money!

One of our fellow members had a bad accident yesterday. Jason Stamm somehow got hit in the eye with a hammer and had to have emergancy surgery to repair it. I don't know all the details but he basically flattened his eye. They had to reattach his Iris and he was scheduled for another surgery for today. From what I hear he is suppose to make a full recovery. Lets just keep him in our prayers and hope all is best. And maybe we can get some sort of fundraising tourney for him. He DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE. :(

sleepy
Jun 16 2006, 05:23 PM
OK he hit a screw to get it started with a hammer and the screw flipped back and stuck into his eye just above the Iris. He had to get the iris reattached and is completely blind beside light in his left eye right now. He has to get cataract surgery on Tues. the doctor said he is very lucky he did not lose the eye or vision a hair lower onto the iris he would have been. So that is the update.

cobus suggested a cool format, match play doubles...if your rating is above 960? or whatever you are A pool, lower than 960 B pool. two teams of two make foursomes and play nine holes in a match play format with best shot doubles. just a suggestion....kind of like the capitol cup. other ideas?

sleepy
Dec 13 2006, 04:45 PM
Kinda set it up pro and am 2 seperate divisions then each pool will be paid out differently correct? I will toss it around. I would like to be able to seperate the payout between pro and am. It will be 100% payout in cash to both divisions.

Cobus's idea seems like fun, but I don't know if everyone would be down for it, but it also would be a new format to try out.

kellerthedog
Dec 13 2006, 04:50 PM
in a nutshell....maybe $40 a man, $80 per team, same cost regardless of division, A or B pool. Once we knew who would be in we could make brackets like the NCAA. i think this would be fun. all up in the air and open to suggestions or dismiss this idea completely, but i think its cool and new.

How am I trying to get this pulled? I am just getting my friends together (like we always do) and play some golf. The more the merrier. It is not going to be a organized tournament as I am not reserving the course. Supposely someone ;) called the park district saying someone is running a tournament out there and they want their cut. It is a free course to play and that is what we are doing. On a side note I will most likely have hot lunches for free for everyone who wants to play with us in our non-tourney get together. So for more information on times give me a call or email me.

Well I just got a letter from the parks department. He states that people are showing up at the Brown Deer office asking when the tournament is. Boy it seems like someone is trying real hard not to let us have fun. So again let me say this is not a tournament but a get together among friends. Just like any other Saturday. So if anyone is up for some doubles the 30th give me a call. Wow we never seem to have this much trouble playing doubles before. I mean if we all met to play soccer on one of their fields would we have to pull a permit? Or if we all decided to walk the park would we have to pull a permit? Just my thought.

Soccer yes, walking no. But I would keep Mr. Zimmerman happy as he represents those who own the land and baskets. I also wouldn't bring up his correspondence here as he may know what the Internet is. The County is getting a ton of corespondence that has pdga.com on it.

I am just saying this is getting blown out of proportion. Why can't a group of disc golfers go out to the course to play some discgolf. This is not a tourney. This is no different than any other day at the course. We go out and play doubles 2-3 times a week. Also do the kids need a permit to sled when there is more than one of them or do the cross country skiers need to pay a fee to ski? I am just saying this is just any other day at the life of Brown Deer or any other public park. I am all for pay to play courses.

Sounds like I missed out!!!

I ended up making it to Tendick leagues at 10 to get started, tied for 1st at -14 with Yohann as my partner, lost in a 5 hole playoff and got a round of +2 at Brown Deer... par'd both long holes but had some hiccups along the way.

Man glow round thats a lot of golf in the day guys nice! Great day for it!

Thanks Don. I had a great time out there. I am busy next weekend, but in a couple weeks we were thinking of meeting up to play some doubles with your Big Chill partner. If anyone is interested in getting some practice in

Sounds interesting !

Big Chill ........next on the list. Hunkel/Loper.....combo!

I have since the first snow storm, been telling my dear wife (disc golf widow) how that during the winter I'll not be playing much. Of course I also said if "weather" permits.....!! How fortunate !! Ha.

Ha, weather permiting..........??? Wow, it's as if I haven't even stopped playing !! Now of course I'm not complaining.......but from my better half ....ouch! Anyone else feeling this "heat" ?

She hasn't seen me and the boys slow down one bit. I hope to do a much better job slowing down some and the sooner the better. There is two major events in this state next year.......that will need conscience free attendance

It looks like Team SWED got shut out at the Big Chill this year! ****! I know my partner whimped out the week before so I couldn't make it, and none of the rest of you finished in the ca$h. :(

But, there is still hope ...

Come on up north to Menomonie on February 24 for the Klondike Winter Challenge. Spend the day in comfort at the bar ( Stout Ale House ), and when it's your T-time a shuttlebus will bring you to the course and pick you up after the round!. There will be ADDED cash and/or prizes in every division! You will be competing for more than just your entry fees at this PDGA XC-tier. Come get some!

Follow the link below for more tournament details.

Mar 04 2007, 03:27 PM
chiefs real name is Craig Schaon (last name spelling might be wrong) I have 24-30" of snow in my yard . Does anyone know how much is at Tendick or Dineen? The snow in my yard is hard on top then you break through to mid thigh, walking is like torture. I am ready for spring!!!

MARKB
Mar 04 2007, 05:28 PM
Tendick is about as bad mostly because of the drifting but you can walk on top a lot of it. Dineen is about half of what tendick is. Actually dineen is not really that bad at all.

Snow will be gone by june :)

kellerthedog

just played two rounds at dineen this morning and the top layer was so hard that the discs stayed on top and so did your feet. i agree, not bad at all probably playin tomorrow

Mar 05 2007, 12:52 PM
Played Tendick on Saturday, and the open holes where a challenge to walk on as you didn't know when your step would stay on top or break through. It was better in the woods not being able to stay on top as at least your step was consistent. In the end, two rounds there made for an exhausting morning.

I've got some pretty good snowshoe paths going up at the Ashford Pines, so I can get around pretty well. But getting around off-path with just boots is a killer.
