In just 11 days we will be back at the Janesville course for the Wisconsin Tour Warm Up. This is a PDGA sanctioned C-Tier event which means you can earn your points for next year's pro or am worlds.

There will be 100% payout for this event. There will be a player's pack also for all of the amatuer divisions.

We have online registration and snail mail registration so please be sure to check out my either website, www.takeflighttoday.com (http://www.takeflighttoday.com) or www.lifetimediscsports.com (http://www.lifetimediscsports.com) for more information.

As you can see, we already have 23 people registered! I just spoke with Jake from Janesville and he is going to try and get 5 more cement tees in before the event (bringing it to 14 cement ones) and even try to have temporary tee pads for the remaining holes. He is also slowly getting the baskets replaced so it won't be just home made ones. He should have 3 or 4 new ones in by then as well.

Let me know if you have any questions! REGISTER TODAY!

I played the course for the first time last saturday. I think I ran into Jake and played a round with him and a couple other locals. The course is really great! I even loved the homemade baskets, they really played well for what they are.

This is a course you dont hear much about but is a MUST play! With some more cement and even some new baskets this is going to just be a great event and I cannot wait to play there again!

See everyone there!

Hello everyone.

The last spots of the Wisconsin Tour Warm Up are probably going to be gone in the next 48 hours. Less than a week ago we had 23 players and by the end of today we are going to be pushing 3 times that many.

Lots of people have called to ask about saving a spot and traditionally I don't save spots unless I have money in hand. That way I know you're serious about coming.

Take Flight Today (http://www.takeflighttoday.com) is your best chance for still getting in. At this point, the mail might take too long. You can also come to my place and drop it off if you need to. I hope the last few people that are looking to get in can because this show is almost SOLD OUT!

Contact me with any questions you may have.

That JUST about does it...10 mail in registrants today really closed the gap. I'm going to be closing the online reg later on today. I think I have committed to the idea of trying to add 2 more holes to make the field an even 100 but I don't believe there is any more room at that park after that.

Next year this will for sure be moving to a 2 day event.

Registration is updated here: http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=5633

91 as of right now thats amazing ! There is not much extra room in the park already, any idea on where you want to put 2 more holes?

Should be a fun weekend though, its just incredible how fast the registrations came rolling in!

I've TURNED OFF registration online and I am getting mail or people stopping by to drop off payments and such. I'm worried about tomorrow's mail the most. Depending on how many are or aren't there, they might be getting phone calls saying that are not in the event. There is room to add a couple of extra holes but they are going to be VERY short holes. The course is pretty easy and plays very quickly so I don't think we are going to have any crazy 4 hour rounds or anything like that. Everyone just needs to be patient and have fun.

This is already going to be planned for a 2 DAY event next year. That's for sure.

Anyone interested in a weekday event anytime in the next few months? Just a thought.

Looks like we have some baggers playing advanced this year. Time to step it up, win a advanced tourney move up. Take some advice from Kim Keen she won 2 weeks ago and already moved up. Heres a look at some of them. These are all wins from last year advanced tourneys.
Neal Swanson 951- 3 wins come on now
Nathan Yemm 947- 1 win
Ben Singer 930- 1 win throws farther then most top pros
Dave O'Keefe 912- 1 win Ok his rating is a little low to move up
Dan Michler 957-1 win and a bunch of seconds
Juan Lopez 950- 1 win
Jose Diaz 955- 1 win
Mike Batka 938- 1 win
If your advanced and your rating is near 950 that like 970 or so in pro
I moved up at 937 with one second place finish and no wins 3 years ago

I'll be doing a mixture this year of Adv and Open. Hopefully if the ankle/foot is 100% by next year I should be Open 100% I hope.

okay sleepy, could it be that you really want me to move up so that you have a better chance of cashing?

I've seen you play and I'm not as good as you at this point, and looking at your stats you are only a bottom cashing pro.

I see some 'pros' signed up for the Warm Up with ratings around mine or less...looks like they spent all of last year donating. i'd atleast like to be a bottom cashing pro before i start throwing away my money.

On the other hand, Neal Swanson should be moving up. He just wont' be able to play any courses that have trees :o

I cashed 13 of 20 tourneys last year for a little over a $1000. If there were more pros playing that money I would hope double. And the pros signed up Monroy, Wondra, Luke, Brunner, Males were all advanced last year and Wondra was the only one not to win a tourney. I just like seeing better competion at tourneys. With only 1 or 2 1000 rated pros at local tourneys you have to shoot as good as them and way better than the field to get a 1000 rated round. Unlike NC were 6-10 1000 rated pros play, you only have to shoot in between them to get a 1000 rated round. And just below them to be in 980's 990's. We need more 1000 rated players in the midwest. And the only way to be a bottom cashing pro is to play pro I know you and many more are good enough.

Moving up based on rating alone I dont think is wise. I personally desided to make a jump because I know I am playing at a much higher level than I was all of last year. I should say a much more consistent level.

The difference between top AMS and Pros is consistency. Player ratings lag behind a players actual skill, its inevitable the way the system works. My 932 is meaningless to me since I have averaged over 955 since July and I would consider my play now to be more consistent than that.

Regardless if you think you should make the move or not, if you do make the move you cant go into it wanting to at least be a bottom cash pro. Regardless of your skill, rating, the field you have to go into the tournament expecting to perform and expecting to win. Sometimes its the mental hurdle of not "being able to compete" at the next level that keeps a lot of top Ams for trying the jump.

I think the one gain for top ams that stay in advanced is that they can learn how to win, learn how to hold a lead, learn how to come from behind to win and that is all valuable experience. Competition in the advanced and open fields in wisconsin has always been tight amongst the fields, for the advanced almost anyone can win anytime and that was clear at a lot of wisconsin tour events last year.

This sport needs more top Ams to move up and up their game more so the Open division can grow and grow. In the course of the next few years the Open field in my opinion will grow tighter and tighter with more players hopefully approaching 1000 ratings. I am glad I live in Wisconsin, and I am thankful that there are just so many great players that I have been able to play with/see play that have helped my game these past few years.

I fixed Brett's link and then I second his notion to move it elsewhere. I think the term is "thread drift".

Anyway - I hope to see a bunch of people come out on Sunday. I have already received a couple of online registrants for this event. If you wish to play - don't mess around and wait - sign up now. It makes it WAY easier on me and the event. Also - it SECURES your spot to play!

It's about 7:PM on Sunday night and like last night - I've got the scores up for all to see. Certainly there are more details to come in the next few days but the UNOFFICIAL details and results are up.

I shot with Cale second round - yeah that shooting was ok I guess - if you like 1091 rated rounds.

Great turn out Terry!! It's great to see a strong show up for each day. Unfortunately I have to wait until Wakanda/Tower for my first events of the year. Doctors orders basically. It was cool to see some Advanced guys actually step up and play open.

Yeah,

The ratings update is due by March 30th and I plan to submit the OFFICIAL TD report sometime this week. These events will in fact be in the ratings update for those that care.

Cale's weekend average for the 4 rounds came to 1046. As I like to say, "That's adequate"

Hey Terry,
Just wondering if you turned in the PDGA renewal forms.

discglfr
Mar 25 2006, 08:26 PM
Good question Sleepy - I'll reply here so that everyone knows.

It looks like the PDGA renewal stuff will be included in the batch for this week's processing. Meaning that Monday it will likely go through the processing and by Wednesday or Thursday most things should be up to speed.

The PDGA is working VERY hard to get renewals processed and as one can imagine, it's the busiest time of the year for them. I have all of the info organized nice and neat now so come Monday (or later this week) it will be all good for them.

I hope that helps.

PS - The PDGA was floored when I said I had about 15 renewals and another 5 or so new members. They were very happy to hear that. The whole point of the WI Tour Warm Up last year was to have a PDGA event PRIOR to the openers so that I could take the brunt of renewals instead of it bogging down the opening events. Looks like that worked and I'm glad for that!
