Gordy Matthews Died Last Night

I've just had a call from the family. He passed away in his sleep. There will probably be a service on Saturday. I'll post the details here when I get them; and also send them to the a3disc and MDGO lists.

my prayers go out to his family...... such a great guy to the disc golf community. hes in a better place now.

Services will be held for Gordy Matthews on Saturday, Feb 4, at 12:00.

The address is 3003 Hannan Rd (St Michael Lutheran), Wayne, MI -- it is a little north and east of the I-275/Michigan Ave intersection. Take Michigan Ave East off of I-275 -- Hannan looks to be about a mile east of I-275.

Wanted everyone to know that the turnout for Gordy's memorial service was huge. I have never before and I probably never will again see so many disc golfers wearing ties.

It was a nice service. And the family hosted a very nice lunch afterwards. It's just sad to think that we'll never watch Gordy throw a cut roller on Original Course Hole 9 Red (short) again.

Gordy "aced" being a human being, something that we all need to strive for.
