I cannot wait until this event.
It is amazing what superdave and pitchford can do at Ben Geren in such a short amount of time. So will the pins be in the longs one round and in the shorts in the other???

first round will be short course :D, second round will be longs. after the second round well do the ring of fire and all that other fun stuff. :) we will also be having a distance challange with a trophy or a driver (havent decided yet) going to the winners. this will be split up into divisions so each group has a chance to win. spread the word lets make this a killer tournament. :D:p :D

One of my boys says he may have a sponsor at least for holes. Tom, you and I talked some about this but what do we need to do to get it done? How much for what sponsorship, who do they contact, etc? Thanks and plan on a big Junior division this time!
The Alma boys will be coming to play!
superd
Jan 17 2006, 11:06 PM
for as far as hole sponsers we are asking $100 per hole per year. the possible sponsers can get a hold of either tom or I.
how many jrs. do you think will show up?
AlmaWillie
Jan 18 2006, 09:36 AM
We had ten out for the mini on Sunday, I would figure on at least that many for a real tourney. I think we had 19 at the Mayor's Invitational in Alma here a couple of months ago, but some of those won't have a way to get to FtSmith unless I can work something out with the parents.
How many would it take to split juniors by age? I have a couple of older boys who will easily beat any of my other juniors so a few may not come due to that.

Jan 18 2006, 10:44 AM
If they don't want to play juniors, they can play novice or intermediate(am). If they are beating juniors by several strokes, they should move up anyway. As for the tournament, I could probably give 1 or 2 people a ride there and back, since its on the way. As long as they get permission from their parents to go, we should be able to find a way to get them there.

minus two strokes to the team player :D
(not in the tournament of course)

Jan 18 2006, 06:41 PM
Hey, that is cool man. I may take you up on that if I have more than I can haul that need a ride. If you are up at Horseshoe I'll buy you a couple mulligans!! :D
But seriously thanks alot,

Jan 19 2006, 07:08 PM
there will be plenty of fayeteville folks there so if ganzel cant make it we can get the discs to him.

Do you think we will have a junior division? If so how much do you figure for entry? As of right now I am seeing a lot of interest and I'm working on two other local schools to get clubs started. Just let me know what you think.

SUPERDAVE, the flyers for the BG Blowout are going up around campus today or tommorrow! A couple in the Union, 1 in the physics building and one in engr. I will try to find out how I can get permission to put them up out at Northshore too. I am also going to see if Lewis and Clark and Play-It-Again Sports will post it by their discs.

I've gotta make this one!!! Loved that course!!! :D
Played Ben Geren for the first time Saturday. Well I played the first 15 holes. I really enjoyed the course and look forward to playing it again. I will say that I really dislike the narrow mandatory tunnel shot. Just my opinion but I think thats the only poor hole on the course. Loved the rest of it though!
Gonna try and make the Blowout my first PDGA tournament. Just have to decide which division to play in. I'm thinking Am/intermediate since i'm just now learning how to throw with my left hand.
superd
Jan 22 2006, 10:47 PM
the mandatory is only on the short setup (A course). the park is set up on the longs (b course) right now. thats something that we need to fix.

POOR HOLE?If you think that one's tough your in for big supprises in the future.Or should I say big dissapointments. That hole's a sinch compared to the tough holes out there.TIP.Learn the side arm roller. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Hey tom I finally got my pdga stuff in so I'm officially in the pdga, hey I would like to know about that sponser if you can tell me or you can email me at airedaleplayer12@yahoo.com,well i got to go so see ya later........oh and i will be at the ben geren blowout........see ya later.
I realized after I posted about that hole, that someone would probably disagree with me. Of course this is just my opinion and it's not worth a whole lot, but theres a big difference between a tough hole and a poor hole. I enjoy playing tough holes. When I stepped up to that hole and saw the mando I thought "you've got to be kidding me". I didn't know the mando wasn't in effect while the holes were in the long position though. Maybe my mind will change if I see it in the short position. I somehow doubt it, but maybe it will.

well what is wrong with it? i may do poorly on a hole and still like it a lot. allsitis is a righty hzyer or a lefty roller. if you are lefty play for your three. throw a putter into the gap and then throw a midrange or putter to the basket and get your three and get outta there. a three isn't going to lose strokes on that hole, at least not many.
What's wrong with the hole? Remember its just my opinion and i'm not meaning to offend anyone, least of all whoever designed that hole. Mainly its about those little trees all over the place that the tunnel goes through. Granted I've only played the course once, but it would seem like those trees would give random kicks and not necessarily depending on how good/bad the shot was. I think it would improve if that tunnel was going through trees that would just knock the disc down as opposed to kicking into a pinball machine.. :D
By the way I didn't score poorly on that hole. That was reserved for some of the other holes. :D

It's only a week away, i can't wait. I hope i don't get beat by a younger junior like blake. But in all honesty i will probably not play well because of to many Baileys. But i think they make pills for gettin' it up.

I had 4 birdies 4 bogies on 36 holes.

ash for the answer to the ctpar it was a tie.
I've spoken with the guy that put up the $25.00 CTPar. His contention is that the spirit of the CTPar was broken by the inconsiderate jerk who tied for the CTPar but left the tournament prior to the awards ceremony.
In other words- Jeff Ash has decided that Jeff Ash doesn't deserve a penny of the $25.00 CTPar that Jeff Ash donated.
