View Full Version : What Distances was Juliana Korver throwing at 2001 USDGC ??

Korver cashed at USDGC in 2001 !! Just wondering if anyone caught her Rounds those few days ?? And if anyone knows what her Avg. Drives on long holes were during that period ??

Really remarkable what she did !! She went head to head tying both Nate Doss and Todd Branch....... And beat other notables such as J-Bird, George Smith, No Spin Myers, Dave Dunipace, Ryan Renz, Former World's Champs Sam Ferrans and Harold Duvall,Kevin Couch, and many others.

I am sure if some other people like Robert Leonard , Rhett Stroh,
Chris Heeren, Danny Reeves, Mike Connors, or Rick Rothenstein entered she would have also wiped their arses for lunch at that tournament.

Anyway , just interested because I heard she maxed out around 330 to 340 ft. And when I went to 2005 USDGC a Pro was telling me there that you had to at least drive 380 to have a chance to cash. I know it may have been a different course back in 2001 but what are people's thoughts concerning this ??

You don't need 380 to cash at the USDGC....I would say an accurate 300 feet is enought to cash out there.

Yes, 300-325 on the money would be in the money.

The original poster left M_Connors off the list of people who Juliana would've crushed. :)

Yeah.... Juliana maxed at about 330.

Course was a little different back then but basically the same strategy... keep it in bounds... don't overthrow... make some putts.

I had Julianna on my shoulders and was going to carry her to the podium to accept our cash but theywereonly 'ceremonial' about the top ten. Too bad... I thought she deserved a little on site recognition for that.

At least I got to have her on my shoulders for a few minutes. Well worth it. ;)

Distance is probably the least important skill needed at the USDGC. I bet the top 10 players could have left all the drivers at home and still cashed.

Man, did you forget to take the Prozac today? Just put your name in your profile and your PDGA number (if you actually contribute to the PDGA). Don't be a coward.
