View Full Version : Anyone up for a mini at the Kensington Toboggan next Sunday, 30-Oct-2005?
Is anyone interested in holding a mini-tourney at the Kensington Toboggan, next Sun, Oct 30? I heard talk of this at the Cass-Benton league last Tues. The extended weather forcast calls for sunny mid 50s. Is it OK to hold a mini there?
I can gather info and I'm willing to donate a big pot of my famous chili, plus a few discs and shirts. Please respond to this thread or send me email at
mwollner@twmi.rr.com
I can post the progress on my web page if needed or just use this thread, if its OK. Please give me feedback on this. Thanks!

Better make it a late start. Most A3'ers are going to have a rough time getting up on the 30th. :)
Thanks for the feedback.
Alright, if it is OK to do this, then registration will be at 11:00 AM and start time will be at 12:00.
We will play one round, and re-group around 3:00 for the free chili and monster tosses for more free stuff, followed by the payouts in a huge selection of plastic at very low prices. Hopefully everything will be finished no later than 5:00.
I will also try to setup some AM tees. I was out there today and nothing is marked off anymore... no tee signs, no tee pads, so I will try to come up with some kind of markers and get with the people running the course as well.
Since this is a huge championship course, I suggest that those not familiar with it arrive early to check it out.
I'm thinkin about a flat $10.00 entry fee but that may change.
Hope to see everyone there!

You might want to check with Club Kensington BEFORE running anything out there. The park is very sensitive about things and the Club are the only ones "authorized" to organize things out there.
I'm not necessarily opposed to it, but things need to be discussed and planned out before hand.
I KNOW the park/club would not mind a "clean up" tournament.
That is why I posted this thread and why I keep asking if its OK! This is not for profit; its just such a great course, too few warm days left, and nothing going on that day. The idea came from guys like Mike Frame-o at the Cass-Benton league. I've been trying to contact some guys (Mark Ellis, Yourself, Bruce Brakel, etc.) but have not gotten much response. The Club Kensington web site seems outdated. Do you know anyone I can call? Perhaps Jim Kenner?
A cleanup tournament sounds good, but the toboggan seemed very clean to me when I was there last Sat. I'm willing to hand out plastic bags and reward those who bring back the most trash.
Thanks for the feedback.

Most people don't read the message board every day.
My phone # is posted everywhere.
I actually LIKE the idea of a mini, as long as we do a 'clean up' round as well. I will even donate prizes.
I will be reading the board most days this week, so you can PM me.

Thanks, Todd
Are you the guy who can say its OK to go ahead, or is there someone I can call to get approval? If OK, a cleanup it will be!

Marty i'm thinking by the above quote that Todd would still like you to ask whoever is in charge of the Kensington Club (i think it's Mark Ellis???) as well as somebody at the park!
But once this gets settled i'll smother it all over our website here and that should generate some additional interest... ( www.TADGA.com (http://www.TADGA.com) )
Good luck!

I'm probably the guy that says OK, since I'm the one who lobbied to get it installed. I just want to make sure that the park won't have a problem. If there is a "clean up" going on, they won't. Therefore, let's have some fun! :D:D
I also want to thank William Gilbert and Matt Lacey who helped me install it the other Sunday night (by HEADLIGHT)
Its offical, then!!!
The first annual Angus Memorial will take place this Sunday, 30-Oct-2005 at the Kensington Toboggon.
Check above for start times and schedule. If attending, please send me an email at mwollner@twmi.rr.com so I can get a head count and cook enough chili. Keep checking this thread for more details.

^much like the dazed look I'd have after playin tobogg... ^
I'll mention this to some Lansing folks this week
may have to try and make it myself.... [/rearranging schedule]
Actually, I named my cat Angus after the great AC/DC guitarist 13 years ago. Poor Angus was snatched from a WaMart parking lot this year while I was attending the World championships in Allentown, Pa. Her sister Nails is still with me and will be there Sunday.
I'm still working out the details... Please check out this web page (http://home.flash.net/~mwollner/projects/Angus%20Open/Angus%20Open.htm) for more information. Print it out and spread it around!
Daemon from Dexter will be bringing pastries for breakfast. Any more help or suggestions is appreciated.
See ya there!

Them's do-nuts for ya'll 'mericans.
This is not a money-maker, in fact I will be loosing a lot of time and money. This is an end-of season good time, allowing everyone to enjoy this fantastic course while its still warm.
I do need a volunteer to vector the league players from the tunnel course to the Toboggan. I will give that person a free challenger for doing so.
Please click on the links in this web page (http://home.flash.net/~mwollner/projects/Angus%20Open/Angus%20Open.htm ) for directions, course map and scorecards.
Hope to see everyone there.
