Hey,

I got out this weekend and played Northshore for the second time. I felt a little better about this round considering I took a penalty stroke for being up in a tree and had two horrid upshots, I still ended up only 6 over (+6). Which I realize is not good, but considering my home course is just now getting to +1 to +2 average I was not too upset. I would like to know what some average scores are for this course, not your best just average. I would appreciate the info.

Thanks for the info. Keldog, I wouldn't mind too bad playing a round with you sometime. Boobs, you are an overachiever. I'm guessing though that it is your home course. Playing often helps. But also being a player that can go USDGC helps too. :) Congrats and good luck!

I have finally played enough rounds of singles at Northshore to be able to respond intelligently to this thread.
I have gone thru the front nine in -5, and the back nine in -5; but the best overall I've been able to muster is -7.
I've birdied every hole on the course.
Between Friday night and Monday morning I was able to play five rounds of singles. I shot -16 for an average of
-3.2 per round.

Sep 06 2005, 11:38 AM
My best score out there is -6, But I usually shoot from even to +2 or +3.

Looks like I will be in Arkansas next weekend. I hope to get a chance to play this course. Last time I was there, I played Gulley park and had a blast with you Arkies.

Let me know what is going on.

If you are talking about the 16th and 17th weekend they are having the Hell On The Border tournament at Ben Geren in Fort Smith (40 minutes from Fayetteville). It sounds like it is going to be awesome. There is a huge post on this discussion all about it. Check it out and maybe you'll want to give it a try.
If not there is also a new course in Alma at the City Park (30 minutes from Fayetteville). Full 18 holes up and over some nice rolling terrain (Big Hills). If you want to come that way let me know and maybe we can meet up and play a round.

-4 first time out. I didn't play any of the pro tees. The wooded holes are good stuff. Hole 8 kicks butt! You need to take a picture of that puppy.

2 more rounds today.

First round -5. Hit chains on hole 9, couldn't tell if it was short side or long side.

Second round -12. Hit 1 square, bounced off the pole and out.

You guys have some pretty cool holes.

I also think that some of the holes are the same shot.
1, 10, 18 are all about the same. 10 and 18 are the exact same hole.

Almost all of the holes open holes are the same, tucked behind a tree hyzers. Do you play the taller grass as OB or bunker? That would make the holes tougher.

My favorite holes on the course in order are:
5 That is a good hole. Not a rip and pray hole, you have to hit that line to the left of the first cedars.

The long tunnel shot 8 (?). It is fun to let your disc sail down that hill.

***I just realized that I skipped a hole both rounds today. There is a little short wooded touch shot. I played it Friday, but skipped over it both times today.****

All the wooded holes are kick butt! They kind of remind me of down under.

I had a good time. Wish I could of made it to Ft. Smith. It is always fun to play with new people.

Wow tied the record /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Did you play all the pro tees?
I think you mean hole 11 not 10
10 is the 500'
11 is where you throw down the hill just into the woods

If we are speaking of 11 and 18, they are quite different holes. While they are both tucked in the trees, 1 is almost 400', and while I don't know the distance on 11, its easily reachable with a midrange.

No, I played from the short tees. I didn't know were all the pro tees were. 11 must be the hole, little short buzzz shot. It is the same shot as 18, and 1 isn't that much different.

BOOM! I shot a -1 from the blues at Northshore. Birdied #4, #9, #14, #17, #18. Bogied #2, #7, #8 and #10, missed birdies on #6, #11, and #16. Still tied my best score out there. BTW, CFR Wraith is awesome. I threw 450 with it, and it wasn't even that great of a shot.

I appreciate the positive reinforcement, but my shot was long, but not that great. Kyle's shot was great. Mine could've been alot better. But now that I know I can throw that Wraith 450ft., i'm going to try and place it to the right or left of the that HUGE TREE, not RIGHT BEHIND IT.

I have to give credit where credit is due. It was the disc. It wasn't that great of a throw and I got almost no snap on it. The wraith goes a mile and is very forgiving. I have yet to get a good rip with it, and it still goes farther than my good throws. Keldog, Ash, Heath, Fish, etc... mini saturday at 10am. Be there.

8:30 a.m. with my wife and daughter, also probably Ash, Keldog, Fish and new players Lorretta, Joe and Lance. It's cooler and we are able to finish in time for other family obligations, as well as help new people get in some rounds without the pressure of a competitve mini. Play hard and keep working at your game.

are other players welcome at the 8:30am tee time? or is this a private party? Cause alot of us miss playing with you baggers

Heath
Sep 23 2005, 06:43 PM
It's not a private course, so it can't be private a party. Any one is welcome to play. To keep speed of play up and to make sure we can finish before it gets too hot we try to play in small groups. There is a group of guys that play even earlier than we do. I used to play with them all the time, but now they play so early that almost every Saturday and Sunday they are coming through hole #17 about the same time we are getting to hole #5. Never been invited to play in their group but I'm sure if I showed up early enough that I would be welcome.

No you apparently don't get it. Anybody that comes IS welcome. You wanna play, show up early. You wanna play the mini show up at 10. Heck we even do breakfast a lot of times at Golden Corral before we ever play.

I get to play a whopping 2 rounds of golf a week (3 if it's raining) and I darn sure don't need you whining about me not playing the minis or not inviting you to play. When was the last time you called and asked if I wanted to play. You haven't and I'm not asking you to. So back off your "I need help" spill, you are the course more often and with people like Aleksy, Kyle, Dayson, Denny, Ganzel (everybody) who are all very capable of helping and are also all higher ranked than I am. Have played in far more tournaments and done better in them than I. DFL and next to DFL in the only to 2 tournaments I have played all year and I have listen to your crap about people spending a "whole weekend out of town". I can't even help my own game, You need any more of my Saturday/Sunday plans let me know. You want a personal invitation- not gonna get one. You wanna play then just shut up and show up.

jesus, heath. You went off the deep end on that one. Look, here's the plain and simple. There was alot of sarcasm in my first post. Heath, I would love to play with you guys. But you guys acted like we were invisible when you were having your own private mini's and we were showing up for the regular mini's. I understand you have a job and a family and they come first. I admire and respect that. But you guys never once said, "Hey, you guys wanna show up at 7, or 8, or whenever and play with us?" Heath, if I had your number, or had ever even talked to you more than twice maybe, I'd gladly invite you to play. Cause I am always wanting to go play and hate playing by myself. As far as getting better, I'm not whining, that is a personal quest. Heath, you are the only guy I know who can take a half step and crush it over 350ft. Granted, you are a tall, lanky mo-fo. But you have a skill most ppl don't. I'm looking to improve my game all around. The more people I get help from the better I will play. If you don't want to help me, I won't biatch, that's your choice, and I respect that. Obviously, I'm not that good yet. But its still fun to get out there with a bunch of people and take pride in the fact that we are fortunate enough to be able to throw pieces of plastic at a metal thing for fun.
I do show up, I do wanna play, I don't need an invitation either. But here's one for you and everyone else. My name is Colin. I want to play. Whenever you are free, call me and we'll go. I'm not the best, I'm not the worst. Its all about disc golf, and that's what I love. My number is (228) 424-7721. This is an invitation to all. I won't say anymore. Sorry for the sarcasm before. Sorry to those I offended or [I'm a potty-mouth!] off.

Well i played a round yesterday with Innova in the bag finished at -2. I was really tired of lying to myself about gayway being better. The last couple of rounds with Gayway +8, +9. Throwing innova takes off 10 strokes.

From what I hear, when you turn your back to holes and trees, you will hit trees no matter what brand you throw!

10 stroke difference having nothing to due with discs, maybe 1-2. IF you don't want the plastic, will you send me a PM with what you have.
