<font color="blue">PATAPSCO DOUBLES ENDS IN LONGEST PLAYOFF EVER!</font>
<font color="orange">SixSki & D&G Battle On & On </font>
Nine golfers gathered under threatening skies this morn to play a round from the <font color="red">reds. </font> Teams were pulled as Dean & Ski (SixSki), Dan & Glen (D&G), Jim & George (The Jungles). Dub & Hawk (Doink), and first timer Ryan as The Lone Ranger!
On the front nine everyone threes the first three holes. Finally SixSki break through deucing #4. :) D&G answer back deucing #6 :D, while The Lone Ranger takes the first four on the front. :( Deuces abound on #8 with D&G, The Lone Ranger, The Jungles, and Doink cashing in. Scores on the front were:
D&G-26
SixSki-27
The Jungles-28
Doink-28
The Lone Ranger-29
Doink was consistently banging metal without shaving strokes. The Jungles kept the tee on us for 16 consecutive holes. Dub had the line of the round,
We'd be killing these guys if these were tone poles!
On the back nine SixSki and The Lone Ranger, carded deuces. :cool:Doink missed a 20'er...again. On #11 The Jungles and Doink deuce. :cool:On #12 The Lone Ranger and SixSki deuce. :) SixSki deuce again on #15 to close out the twos on the back nine. Scores from the field were:
SixSki-25 (52)
D&G-26 (52)
The Jungles-28 (56)
Doink-28 (56)
The Lone Ranger-28 (57)
The SixSki and D&G card needed to be recreated as Dan apparently is incapable of keeping score. After replaying the back nine verbally at the picnic table, the two teams came out tied. It's playoff time!!! Off to #1 <font color="blue">blue! </font>
Having taken over scorekeeping duties for the two teams, a small gallery gathers as state disc golf photographer Mr. Sherwood, and his sidekick Lefty join Your Disc Golf Hero to watch the magic. On #1 D&G ride Glens drive into the softball field while SixSki take Deans drive to the fringe. Threes for both teams. On #2 D&G out Sherwinder SixSki as Glen bests Ski by 10' up the tube. Both teams three. On #3 D&G pass the A pin on Glen's drive, with SixSki landing 15' behind them. Both teams three. On #4 SixSki end up short and on the left fringe while D&G ride Glen's drive out into the fairway. Both teams three. Finally on #5 everyone hits early. D&G land 20' from the basket after Glen's approach/2nd drive zips up the rise and zooms through the trees 2' off the ground. SixSki's 2nd shots land them 60' out. Both men make valiant runs, but miss, and D&G putt out for the three and win!
Kudos to Glen who remains undefeated at Patapsco Doubles. Next week it's from the <font color="blue">blues </font> for anyone not at the WVO. Ski and I might end up paying double and going mano y mano. ;)

Due to popular demand of the actual regular participants we're going to up the entry fee to $3 for Doubles effective this coming Saturday. This covers the fact that we're not running an ace pot, and half the people want to give me $3 anyways. Also this makes my life easier as people love to carry fives, and if you pay the park to get in with a five, they've made change for you/me! :) I've refined The Lone Ranger concept to this: In the event of an odd number of players, the owner of the last mini drawn has two choices:
1. They pay double (i.e. $6) and get two throws from each lie.
2. They become part of the last team drawn making that team a threesome. That team then splits the winnings (if applicable) three ways instead of two.
This way the draw stays random and we don't have a redraw of people volunteering to go out solo, and no one has to withdraw from playing. It's cleaner and simplier this way.
Thanks for your participation and attention. :D

A surprisingly robust group of 12 showed today for the 1100 kick-off from the <font color="blue">blues. </font> Thinking we were in for a four hour round with everything in C we managed to wrap up at 1415 with all three groups staggering in within ten minutes of each other. More on this later.*
We were 11 at the draw, and the teams were: Glen & Hawk (G&H) , Dan & Rich (The Survivors) , Wayne & Ryan (2 Guys W/ Y's) , Nucci & Shawn (2 Guys W/ N's) , Bill & Ray (Seven & Seven) and Fred was drawn last and declined to be The Lone Ranger , so we were looking at our first threesome. As everyone headed out George rolled in and I teamed him up with Fred creating (Last & Late). We then had three even cards of twosomes and off we went.
Here's a quick recap of the deuces hit today:
So on the front 2 Guys w/ N's take the sole five on #1. :( Then there's a bunch of threes and fours until 2 Guys w/ Y's take a five on #6. :( Obviously this 2 Guys thing is bad mojo. Five's abound on #7 courtesy of both the 2 Guys teams, The Survivors, and Seven & Seven. G&H card the rare three :cool:when Glen rolls us to the A pin corral, and then I whip out a Hawk and flip us down to within 8'! ;) Glen putts us in as he did all round. We did almost blow this as I was spotting and chasing Glen's second roller and I glance at an orange Z disc laying near a tree well short of where I though my shot went. As Glen moseys down I point out how surprisingly short I am, and Glen concurs and we prepare to take the roller shot. Meanwhile Dr. Evil and Dan are down at the basket. At this point Rich suggests that we take my shot unless we really want to swap 8' for 50'. Thanks to D. Lee of Pennsylvania for leaving your orange Z Cyclone out in the open. Maybe I'll call you and mail it back. ;) Scores on the front were:
G&H-30
Seven & Seven-31
Last & Late-34
The Survivors-35
2 Guys w/ N's-36
2 Guys w/ Y's-36
On the back nine Last & Late open up with a five. :( G&H and Last & Late card the long three's on #11. :) On #13 G&H eat the five :mad:after two bad drives, and two equally uninspired approaches. Everyone three's #15! :DOn #16 The Survivors take the five, :( but that's only one worse than everyone else. Unfortunately they follow this up with another five on #18. :o:mad:Scores on the back were:
G&H-30 (60)
2 Guys w/ N's-30 (66)
Seven & Seven-31 (62)
Last & Late-31 (65)
2 Guys w/ Y's-32 (68)
The Survivors-35 (70)
*Prior to George arriving I was sending out a sevensome(!) which Rich and Glen wisely advised was horrific. I agreed to send the then threesome of Boyd/Ray/Fred out on their own when George arrived giving us the third card of twosomes. The fact that we got done sooner than ever considering the length leads me to believe that sixsomes are evil. In the future we'll send nothing larger than a fivesome (two teams and The Lone Ranger) out. If we have a threesome again, or an odd twosome, they will go out unchaperoned. I think we can trust each other, and let's face it TNT runs entirely on this concept. The other way is killing us timewise and turning a round of disc into a hostage situation with some groups routinely having to wait 30+ minutes for everyone to be finished. I know some of you (Mr. Sherwood) will whine, and as usual, I don't care. :D
I'm working next Saturday, so Dr. Evil is tenatively scheduled to be your congenial host as you go from the <font color="red">reds. </font> If Rich is unavailable six time champ Ski has volunteered to organize things and be your special guest star host. However if he stops to eat, you might be on your own. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Don't worry, I try and learn from my own mistakes, Hardee's is on the BLACK LIST ! Tom P. and myself played a nice round at the ROCk, I banged chains on 5 but once again it was right side and didn't stick . Love that Sidewinder :D

Doubles start tomorrow at 1100. You'll be playing from the <font color="red">reds!</font>
No word from Dr. Evil on his availability to guest host, (he's probably dead) so prepare yourself for the host w/ the most Tim Ski. In other words you're probably on your own. Picture some kind of Katrina of disc golf. I look forward to the write up.
God speed.
Dude, I'll be there collecting dollars and minies and sending folks out for good times from the short tees. :p I'll be cooking breakfast at home ! :o
<font color="blue"> Ski wins his 7th doubles round </font>
Six men showed up this morning for one of the most competitive rounds as of yet.Your Host (yours truly) showed up at 1040 HRS to find George and Tom E. warming up. Ryan shows up and we waited for B.B. and The Shark who pulled in at 1100 HRS sharp. O.K. I love it when a plan comes together.
Teams were drew: Out first was Ski & Bill Boyd (the favorites) followed by Shark & George (Team crusty) and Tom & Ryan (Master/Apprentice). We started on hole 10.
The favorites started a little slow with poor up shots and missed putts for a four, while the others muster pars. The favorites pared out the back minus a four on 16 and a missed duece on 15 with a crushing drive by me with the T.N.T Valk. to within 12-13 ft :(. Team Crusty give up the strokes on 13 and back to back boggies on 16 and 17. While Master/App. score two boggies and a double boggie on hole 17.Toms drive on 15 was all but given up on and his partner had already pick up :o. So the young apprentice felt compelled to hunt hard for Mr. Toms disc, which he located seconds before Shark and I gave Tom his penalty spot. That and hole 12 gave them boggies.
The back:
The Favorites: 29
Crusty: 30
M&A: 31
The Favorites start strong on the front with the only par (Ski's crushing drive down the middle ) while the others take boggies.. The Favorites looked good until 4 were the chains were not kind and refused to accept two putts thats should have stuck . We also took the dreaded D.B. on hole 7 with two botched up shots, Bill with and air shot and me with a flick roller. The others faired well. Team Crusty pared with the excepts on holes 1, 2 and 7 and Master/Apprentice with boggies on 1, 3, 6 and 7.
Scores on the front:
The Favorites: 30 (59)
Crusty: 30 (60)
Master/Apprentice: 31 (62)
A truly close round in deed.
I'm sorry to inform you that I'll be absent from next weeks long to long as I'll be attending the Mid-Atlantic Reptile Show http://www.reptileinfo.com/Events_Schedule.aspx

<font color="red"> CAN GLEN REMAIN UNDEFEATED? </font>
<font color="blue"> What About Boyd & The Lone Ranger? </font>
<font color="purple">severe case of putting on display! </font>
Nine discers made it out for yesterdays round from the <font color="blue">blues.</font> First out of the bag was Ryan and Shark with their matching Patapsco minis  (Me & My Shadow), followed by Glen and George (GiGi), Boyd and Severe (BoBo), Rich and Hawk (Team Grunt), and last out of the bag was Ray. Ray declined creating the Super Team with Team Grunt and opted to go out alone as The Lone Ranger. The bastard!
On the front nine teams are stringing together a bunch on threes and fours. BoBo hits a 100' putt on #1 for the three courtesy of Bobby, and are joined with three's by GiGi and The Lone Ranger. On #6 Bill makes a friend with some of the horse people. (http://www.goldcitycorral.com/support/pagepics/Horseback%20riding%202004%20006%20small.jpg) On #7 BoBo record the only three when Bill rips a drive from behind the trees short of the A pin through a 2' window and lands 50' to the left of the pin. :) Bobby steps up and nails the putt. Me & My Shadow and Team Grunt take the lone fives. :( On #9 Bill discussed some as yet unachieved disc golf goals. (http://www.funfocus.net/bilder/menschen/sex.jpg) Scores on the front were:
The Lone Ranger-30
BoBo-30
GiGi-31
Team Grunt-32
Me & My Shadow-34
There were actual deuces recorded on the back nine! :DFirst however Team Grunt has to take the lone five on #13. :mad:On #14 The Lone Ranger, from 120' out, throws his Roc high into the tree above the C pin and the disc bounces off some leaves and branches and plops into the basket!! :) Not to be outdone BoBo card their own deuce on #15 when Bobby hits another 100'+ putt. :D On #16 BoBo is in trouble and 150' away after two throws, but Bobby steps up and nails another ridiculous putt. :) On #17 Bill discusses some women (http://www.ottoperuna.com/pagcom/Macandbumble/FrancineDee/Foto/image015.jpg) he admires. Scores off the back were:
GiGi-28 (59)
The Lone Ranger-29 (59)
BoBo-30 (60)
Team Grunt-34 (66)
Me & My Shadow-34 (68)
It's playoff time from #1 <font color="blue">blue!</font> On #1 The Lone Ranger puts both of his drives into the softball field landing near a bunch of hooligans playing touch football. GiGi joins him in the field. The Lone Ranger's second shot goes left of the backstop and disappears down the slope. Showing that he's mortal Glen throws his second shot into the backstop obviously rattled by the buxom gallery watching the play. George lands to the right of the backstop giving GiGi a shot at a long difficult putt. Arriving at the basket we find The Lone Ranger 30' to the left of the basket. However he misses both of the putts :oand GiGi lives on with fours for all. On #2 GiGi sail smoothly up the fairway, while The Lone Ranger staggers up behind them and lands off the fairway in the left side trees. After a less than inspiring hyzer approach, The Lone Ranger uncorks a forehand roller with a DX Eagle, and lands within GiGi's approach for matching threes. On #3 The Lone Ranger Boyd's his first drive near the red tee, and then slams his second drive into the mando tree. :oOh oh! GiGi land down near the A pin. The Lone Ranger's second shots land past the A pin. His third shot's are scattered up near the C pin. Meanwhile GiGi's second shot nestles up against a tree as Georger sidearms a Banshee to within 25'. From there he puts the putt in for a three and the win! First Patapsco ca$h for George, and Glen remains undefeated. :cool:No doubles next week due to the Picnic, but in two weeks we'll go from the reds at nine A and nine B pins. :)

<font color="green">A COZY FOURSOME AT DOUBLES TODAY. </font>
<font color="purple">Two Teams Battle To Avoid A Playoff. :D </font>
A record low turnout this morning with those in attendence being teamed up as George & Ryan ( Team Facial Hair (http://www.sharpman.com/grooming/04052000/faces.jpg) ) vs. Hawk & Ski ( Team Schenkenberg (http://www.lematin.ch/nwmatinhome/nwmatinheadpeople/l_apollon_de_ces_dames.body.Image.1.gif)) Off we went from the <font color="red">reds </font> in search of respectable scores.
Our first issue was the discovery that my fabulous new Patapsco Doubles cards had a slight flaw in that they had two front nines. :oSome quick work with a pencil courtesy of George got us back on track. Things got going on #11 for Schenkenberg when Ski parked the basket for an easy putt for deuce :cool:by Your Disc Golf Hero. We followed that up deucing #12 when I landed 10' from the basket and cleaned up the putt. :cool:Unfortunately for us Facial Hair equaled our deuce :) when Ryan made a 25' putt thru some trees! On #13 I Z-Hawked thru the stand o' trees landing within 5' for another easy deuce :cool:only to once again be equaled by young Ryan. :D On #14 Facial Hair cards the solo deuce :) taking the tee from Schenkenberg on #15. At this point Ski's feeling refreshed after his rehydration (http://www.widmer.com/beers/hefeweizen.html) program kicks in, and he promptly blasts his drive past the C pin. Unfortunately for us the basket is in B. However Facial Hair is only two thirds of the way down the fairway, but our nemesis Ryan approaches into the downed tree for a gimme three. :cool:On #17 Ski again overdrives the basket giving Schenkenberg a shot at deuce which we promptly converted into a four. :o:eek: Facial Hair card a three. On #18 George drives to the A pin, but Ski bests him by landing inside the trees. I convert the putt for our fourth deuce on the back. :DScores after nine were:
Schenkenberg-24
Facial Hair-24
It's a shootout! On the front things remain even until #3 when both of Schenkenberg's drives leave much to be desired. However Ski Roc's us 20' pin high right from where I save the three. Meanwhile Facial Hair botch their easier approaches and take their first four. :( On #5 Facial Hair take the deuce . On #6 I Z Mr.V us right over the basket for the deuce. :DOn #7 Schenkenberg take a three to Facial Hairs four as we opted to use the fairways ;), while George and Ryan battled through the left side trees. :p Scores on the front were:
Schenkenberg-26 (50)
Facial Hair-28 (52)
Next week we go from the <font color="blue">blues </font> in spite of Ski's concern over the dwindling available daylight.

<font color="red"> SISSY STATUS OF DISC GOLFERS CONFIRMED </font>
<font color="purple"> Your Disc Golf Hero Strolls Leisurely To Win </font>
Well it was raining when I arrived at the park at 1045, and no one was there. After warming up putting for 30 minutes I was still alone. So I faced a crossroads. Head on over to the gym, or put the caps back on the c pins that still needed to be done post Picnic. Deciding that I couldn't drive on the wet course, and I'd have to walk it, I suddenly realized that if I played...I'd win! So off from the <font color="blue">blues </font> I went. :D
What followed was a series of threes and fours as I started on #1. I also noticed an amazing quantity of beverage containers on the course, and some downed branches and limbs, so it was a combo victory march/workday. As I moseyed along I collected the cans and bottles in the bag that I had the sleeve caps in. Soon it was full. The rain wasn't bad until #8 and at that point I gave up all hope of keeping the plastic dry. We apparently had another near miss with a limb coming down near the basket on #8. On #9 a branch has partially snapped and is draped down in front of the box. Scores after nine:
Hawk-32
Cans/Bottles- 5
More of the same on the back with the rain really pounding down now. Highlight would be my drive on #13 with the stained glass Eagle (http://www.groovy-chick.com/television/pfbus.jpg) nearly getting through the stand o'trees. A big branch came down on #16 between B & C. Scores on the back were:
Hawk-33 (65)
Cans/Bottles-7 (12)5 Busch beer, 1 Milwaukee Best Ice, 1 Natural Light, 1 Michelob Light, 1 Bud Light [this must be what it's like caddying for the Rockburn Course Pro ] 1 Red Bull, 1 Powerade and 1 Deer Park.
Next week we/I go from the <font color="red">reds</font> as I narrow the gap on Minefski.

Arriving at the park post haircut, I observed mutilple undefeated Patapsco Doubles winner Glen driving ahead of me. As a noted scofflaw he proceeds into the park eschewing the honor system box, and is cut off at the pass by the ranger (http://www.adultfilmsuperstore.com/store/prodimages/cinderella/park_ranger_sm.jpg) who sends Glen back to the front gate to pony up his two bucks. :D
After a shuffling of minis in a bag made out of recycled plastic containers, 2004 Advanced Womens World Champion Kelly Boyce (in attendence as the father search continues) drew the teams. First out of the bag was Ski & George (The Red Shirts), Dan & Kelly (Who's My Daddy?), and then Hawk & Glen with Fred drawn last. Thinking over his chances of winning money as The Lone Ranger vs. riding the Glen train, Fred opted to create <font color="red"> The Uber Team! </font> The foursome was sent to #1 and <font color="red"> The Uber Team </font> went to #4. We commenced discing from the <font color="red">reds. </font>
What follows next is a rather Mr. Sherwoodesque write up. On #4 all three of us throw embarassingly bad drives. Glen's is the best of the lot, so we take his which is 100' down the hill from the basket. After Fred parks it for the gimme three, I step up and Super Soft Wizard in for the deuce. :) Memories of a similar deuce with George weeks ago flood my mind. ;) On #5 Glen parks his drive 2' from the basket :cool:and manages to make the putt! On #6 Glen drives over the basket and makes the 10' putt. :DOn #7 Glen rolls halfway into the trees left of the mando, but we all botch the approach. :( Taking mine as the best of the three, all three of us miss the 20' par putt :ofor a four. :mad:On #8 Glen drives and makes the putt. :D On #9 Fred has the best drive, and he calmly steps up and makes the 30'er! :cool:On #10 I drive and make the deuce putt /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif as the sizzling round continues for us. On #11 Fred hits the fairway short as Glen and I yank right. It's a three. :( On #12 Glen and I drive pin high 25' away, but all three of us choke. :( Meanwhile the foursome play the first three on the front then skip to the back to get away from a herd of recreational players. The <font color="red">Red </font> Shirts deuce #2 :Dwhile Who's My Daddy? take a four on #3. :( The <font color="red">Red </font> Shirts deuce #10, :cool:and also cash in on #'s 13 & 14. :D:DScores after nine for each team were:
<font color="red"> The Uber Team </font>-22
The <font color="red">Red </font> Shirts-24
Who's My Daddy?-28
Starting our "back nine" on #13 I Pro Classic Roc us through the trees and land 3' from the basket for the deuce. :D On #14 Glen drives and putts for the deuce. :DOn #15 Glen Roc's down and lands 1' from the basket for yet another deuce. :) On #17 Glen drives and makes yet another deuce putt. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif And to wrap it up Glen Rocs and deuces #2. On the fourseome's "back nine" The <font color="red"> Red </font> Shirts take a four on #17 :( while Who's My Daddy? deuce #18! :) The <font color="red">Red </font> Shirts match our four on #7 :(, but Who's My Daddy? card the lone three of the day! :cool:Unfortunately Who's My Daddy? follow that success up with a four on #8 :(, but Dan nails a 30'er on #9 for the deuce :) to close out the round for the foursome. Scores after the second nine were:
<font color="red"> The Uber Team </font>-22 (44) /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Who's My Daddy?-26 (54)

Next Saturday I'll be at Codorus trying to win back my entry fee, so right now your tenative host from the <font color="blue">blues </font> will be Dr. Evil. Minefski is also slated to be at Codorus, so if Rich decides to come along as well then whoever shows up is, as the saying goes, on their own. I understand Kelly is eager to come out and earn the solo victory. :)
Remind me what Its called again ?
Patapsco DOUBLES
So WHY am I playing against a Threesome ? with Glen-Fred-and your host.
I'm confused, Its teams of two right ?
Whats It called again ?
PATAPSCO DOUBLES
ok just checking.
It just looks shady too me.

I guess you overlooked these clear explanations:
Re: Patapsco Doubles [Re: HawkGammon]
#431705 - 08/28/05 09:26 AM Edit Reply Quote
Due to popular demand of the actual regular participants we're going to up the entry fee to $3 for Doubles effective this coming Saturday. This covers the fact that we're not running an ace pot, and half the people want to give me $3 anyways. Also this makes my life easier as people love to carry fives, and if you pay the park to get in with a five, they've made change for you/me! I've refined The Lone Ranger concept to this: In the event of an odd number of players, the owner of the last mini drawn has two choices:
I guess when there's a number that's not divisible by three at TNT you leave as Paul adds the odd men onto the last team or two.
And of course this overlooks the fact that Glen's six solo birdies would have pounded you weak butt into the ground alone.
But good luck with those ego defense mechanisms.
My EGO aside, I just want my opinion out there for all to see. Its your operation and you get to run it how YOU see fit. And don't compare apples to oranges cause random drawl doubles V.S. a formated ratings triples drawl are two different animals. Nice try though. :p

more details on the saturday tag match--
i started out with a circle six on hole one (hit a tree, tried to forehand roll it and hit a tree again, aired it out to the basket and got stuck in a tree, then up, then down). then i took a 4 on 2 (my putting was horrific ALL day), then another six on seven after a missed easy deuce on 6.
i settled down on the back, but still missed plenty of easy deuces on 11, 12, 13, 14 then finally managed to park it close enough to not miss on 15. easy 3 on 16, then missed deuces on 17 and 18 :p. all of my "missed deuces" were within 30' -1 on the back.
i talked sherwood into replaying the first three holes just to make me feel good. i went 3, 2, 3-- replacing those holes on the real 18 would have yielded a 58

This Saturday we'll go from the <font color="red">reds, </font> so that should make things slightly less painful. This may or may not be the final Saturday doubles for 2005. Yes I've ordered the trophy Roc. The turnout lately has been less than scintillating, and I'll be on Tour on the 5th, so I'll be missing another one. I also have a tenative appointment in Towson this Saturday at 0900, so I may or may not make it back down in time. I'm still considering letting the Saturday before Thanksgiving be the final one.

I'll probably make it down in time to host. If not attendees may choose to self organize and have at it, or wait for greatness to arrive.

<font color="purple">CAN GLEN REMAIN UNDEFEATED? </font>
<font color="blue">Hmmmm... </font>
Four studs made it out this windy cool morning to have a go from the <font color="red">reds. </font> Arriving early I warmed up and then was relaxing in the truck doing a little light reading (http://bullets-and-beer.com/Cold.html) when Dr. Evil calls to saw he's running a bit late. Thinking that this will turn into a mano y mano affair, I resume reading when Glen (http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20051019/capt.ba84410192238.spain_tennis_madrid_masters_ba8 44.jpg) comes rolling into the park. Moments later Brady motors his mobile bedroom (http://www.van.cnet.pl/klub/jh/3.jpg) into the park. Oh Oh!! It's doubles. After warming up some more to the musical stylings of Brock (http://www.brockband.com/media/mp3/BROCK-Focus.mp3) we drew teams. Three players anxious to be Glen's date. First out of the bag was Glen who was teamed up with Dr. Evil creating Glengary Glenrich leaving Brady and Your Disc Golf Hero to become The Eagles. We started on #1 to give a couple of rec groups ahead of us time to clear out, and also to get a glimpse of the bride having her wedding on the softball field.
Right off the bat Glengary Glenrich take a three to our four on #1. Undaunted Brady comes out swinging on #2 with a forehand roller  while Glen overshoots the basket for an easy deuce. :cool:Stepping up, Brady nails an awkward 20'er to also deuce. :) Hey this may not be so bad. ;) At this point Glen announces that Rich will have to get a solo deuce, or he'll forfeit the win. :DOn #3 Rich pink Wraiths down to the gully, and Glen calmly makes the long uphill putt. Another deuce for Glengary Glenrich. Glengary Glenrich also deuce #4 with yet another Glen drive and long putt. :) On #6 Glen makes another 15'er for the deuce. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif On #7 Glengary Glenrich take a mortal three, but The Eagles stumble in with a four after two botched approaches. On #8 Brady flexes his muscle again when he rolls #8 and the disc hits a rock and skids to within 10'. Brady makes the deuce as I walk to #9. The Eagles take the tee! On #9 The Eagles give it right back as Glen drives, and  makes another 25'er. Scores on the front were:
Glengary Glenrich-22
The Eagles-27
On #10 Rich thinks he's finally earned his keep when his drive lands 20' from the basket, but Glen bests him by 12' :D for the deuce! Rich adds the 35' putt to Glen's drive on #11 for the deuce. I finally wake up and try to help Brady out by parking #12 with the stained glass Eagle. Glen leaves Glengary Glenrich 30' pin high up the slope. Giddily Brady and I think we're picking up a stroke when Glen guns a putt down at the basket, and instead of sailing past and down towards the river, it slams chains and drops in for another deuce. :p Glengary Glenrich follow that up with another Glen drive and deuce (I mean putt) on #13 while The Eagles fail to convert their closer effort. On #15 the wheels totally come off for Glengary Glenrich when they take a four :oafter driving short, running well past the basket and missing the comeback. The Eagles take Brady's roller, and nearly make it a two stroke swing when my putt comes tantalizingly close to going in from 50'. Not wanting to deny our opponents their tee we promptly give it back on #16 going four to their three. On #17 Rich Roc's down 25' below the basket while I park it with my Leopard five feet above the basket. This time it's Rich who ruins our deuce party by making his putt, and allowing him to keep his share of the winnings as Glen won't forfeit now. :DScores on the back were:
Glengary Glenrich-23 (45)
The Eagles-26 (53)

As your Guest Host, I showed up @ 1030 HRS promptly. I was greated by No Spin. After climbing out of the cockpit I noticed Toby Hendrix tossing putts
Also Newbie Daniel was lurking in the parking lot.
Dan and George show up and Its even steven for the draw.
I have the <font color="red">Cherry </font> draw teams:
George/Daniel
No Spin/Toby
Ski/Dan
Any guess's who won?
We started on hole one with the only par taken by team Meyers, Duh ! Hole two was crushed by yours truly, but can't putt to save ones life, missing the 15 footer :( Scare frame with par's around. hole four saw Toby crank one into the road, only to sputter up the hill and come to rest in bounds for a drop in . Hole six had two dueces, Sorry, I can't claim one :(. Hole 7 was the only blemish on Team No Toby's card, the others shoot par :D. Toby with the only duece on eight and no dueces taken on nine.
After nine:
George/ Daniel 27
Jim/ Toby 25
Ski/ Dan 30
We all par ten and eleven and Ski/ Dan get there only duece of the day on hole twelve (Dan crushed it with a Pro Wraith) along with you know who /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Team George took the only duece on hole 15 :(. Team No Toby coast's to victory duecing the last two holes.
on the back:
George/ Daniel 29- 56
Jim/ Toby 24- 49
Ski/ Dan 27- 57

Upon further introspection I think last Saturday's doubles will be the last regular weekly effort. We continue to pull sub double digit attendence, and the lack of interest is not motivating me to get up and out there each Saturday. Thanks to all who came, and I'll consider doing it again during the regular doubles season in 2006. I believe this leaves the Skister as our champion, and I'll present him with his trophy Roc when our paths next cross. I will be heading out there to shuffle the baskets one more time before the cold cruel winter sets in, and Dr. Evil and I will hopefully get some sleeves in to resurrect some long abandoned pin positions soon.

Can't wait to see the flyer and 'explanation of the concept'.
Perhaps I'll have your close personal friend DAM (http://www.andhowtheater.com/pbrlogo.jpg) craft some text for the explanation.
Actually upon further review we'll be using a combo deck of official <font color="orange"> Hooters </font> Calendar Girl Playing Cards for the draw. We'll start with two ace of spades (http://www.proscan.externet.hu/galeries/other/december/deck_of_cards_-_ffcg/DeckofCards-FFCG-02-ace_of_spades.jpg) for the first two registrants, the next two go in as the 2 of spades, and so forth. Each player will then draw a card out of the bag in the order they signed up, and then find their partner who has the same numbered spade. In the event of an odd number of players, I'll put the Joker (http://www.jlanimated.com/villains/joker2.jpg) in the bag, and whoever draws that card regardless of the order in which it was pulled can opt to pay double and play as The Joker (http://ffmedia.ign.com/batman/multimedia/joker-comic.jpg) or create the <font color="blue">Uber Team</font> with the highest numbered team drawn. This replaces the Lone Ranger (http://spiritofthebear.com/Lone%20ranger/Lone_Ranger05.jpg) concept of 2005. The Joker must decide at the time the card is drawn if they want to play solo or go as part of the <font color="blue"> Uber Team </font> . This adds an extra twist as The Joker may not know who their potential <font color="blue"> Uber Team </font> partners may be at the time of the decision. Please keep in mind that for draw purposes Aces are low, Kings are high. In the unlikely event that more than 27 players show up, we'll move into the hearts. (http://www.designcollage.se/images/ace-of-hearts.jpg)
We'll alternate tees each week starting with the <font color="red">reds </font> on the 22nd.
Also keep in mind that we won't be doing fiveomes or sixsomes so in the event that we can't send out even groups of two teams per hole then the odd team will go out solo on the honor system. The <font color="purple"> Joker </font> will always go with a twosome.
In the event of a tie, the teams involved start the playoff from #1 <font color="blue">blue. </font>
The individual champion will be determined by a tally of points earned during the season. Each winning team member earns one point for each team they beat. Only the winning team members earn points. It's a continuation of the winner take all concept.
Ski (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=24396) is our defending champion.
All decisions of your host (http://www.papermilltheatre.org/images/shows/cabaret05/emcee-and-the-girls_1024x.jpg) are final. Any special guest hosts (http://cache.viewimages.com/comp/2631393.jpg?x=x&dasite=ViewImages&ef=2&ev=1&dareq= 9B0238C52E2B0CC7202043C2BAA139AACC226DCECCD262DD) will be announced (http://www.saintbonaventure.com/images/gameshow_host_ask_question_hg_wht.gif) here.

<font color="blue"> Patapsco Doubles Turns Into A Mano y Mano Affair </font>
Only two men tough enough to brave the elements.
I arrived at 0945 wondering if there would be a turnout. No one was in the parking lot. I went about updating the kiosk, and thinking I'd throw nine and roll out when a large engine starts revving behind me. Turning I see the green mustang of George through the drizzle. At 1000 it was still only us, and I decided that we would have doubles with two Jokers. Starting on red ten we headed out.
I made George drive first using my host powers, and he promptly went across the road on a power hyzer gone bad. I landed 15' from the basket and convert the deuce. :) George promptly answers on #11 when he drives and makes a 30' putt for deuce. :) Things got ugly on #13 where George easily sidearmed down the fairway while my Coyote hit the corner tree on the fairway and kicked 80 degrees to the right sliding on the ground in the horizontal row behind the mando. Mando made, but I'm on the outside. A couple of weak approaches and a clank and a miss gives me a six. :( I promptly follow that up with a five on #14 after this exchange prior to my four putt:
George: During the Punisher I was so wet and cold that the shivers I had made me miss 10' putts like yours to the right.
Hawk: It's wet I could still do it.
And I promptly did! :oOn #15 George continues treating my like a sparring partner and deuces the hole with a 35' downhill air putt that hit no chains :cool:while I clank for a four. :mad:I finally get some small revenge on #17 where my four beats Georges five. Then on #18 I drive down the hill to within 40' while George is at the crest. He actually whips out his backhand and Classic Roc's and nearly makes the 150' downhill deuce. He does however then miss the putt and his subsequest blowby comeback for a five to my three.
Scores on the back were:
George-30
Hawk-34
Okay not totally out of it.
On #3 I get to within three with a four to George's five, but then things went horribly awry. On #4 George gets a solid three, while I hack my way to a five. :( On #5 George drives to within 12' and converts the deuce :) :cool:while I get another four. :oWe both deuce #6 in a Classic Roc vs. Spider drive off. ;) On #8 George drives 30' past (!) the basket and converts the deuce :cool:while I get a sissy three. On #9 George drives up into the rocks 20' short and right of the basket (who is this guy?!?!) while I end up with a decent drive, and approach for an easy three which I then miss and the Rhyno rolls left and behind of the basket into a little pocket within the shrubbery somewhat down the hill. Needless to say this totally capsulized my round when I clanked the four putt and took one last five.
Scores on the front:
George-28 (58)
Hawk-34 [you've got to admire the consistency](68)
With this leisurely win George is the current Patapsco Doubles series leader having earned one point with today's impressive victory. Hopefully we'll have a slightly better turnout in four weeks when I return from touring hiatus.

Season High Record Crowd of Three Turns Out For Doubles.
With Toad and Ray (fresh off cutting up the downed tree on #12) joining me yesterday morning I made the executive decision to turn doubles into a singles (http://4personals.org/passion.jpg) event. Starting on #10 blue the three of us headed out just after 1000.
Toad started slowly taking a four to our threes on #10. However I returned the favor on #11 taking a five to their fours. On #12 Toad outdrives both of us and then sinks an 80'er for the deuce. :cool:I give up two strokes with a four after my approach roars far past the basket. Ray takes the three. At that point we all matched until hole 17 when Toad again takes the extra stroke with the four. Scores on the back were:
Ray-30
Toad-31
Hawk-32
On the front I turn the best drive on #1 into a four while Toad takes a horribly turned over drive and nearly makes another spectacular deuce this time from about 250' away. On #2 we go 3-4-5 (R-H-T). On #3 I have an excellent drive for the C pin (unfortunately the basket is in A) but manage to make my mini Toad putt of 50' for the deuce ( :D) while the others take a three. On #4 the wheels come off for Toad as he three putts for a five :mad:while we take threes. On #5 I manage to pick up another stroke going four to their fives. However I promptly give it back taking a five to their fours on #7. On #8 Toad and I hyzer too early and go way left and short into places no one wants to be. Looking for my disc Ray declares:
Found it. It's back here!
Not a happy place, but I manage to hit a tiny hole with the Teebird and scramble for a four which is matched by Toad with a thumber shot. Ray misses his putt to take a five :( giving both of us a stroke. On #9 we finish out with Toad taking a four, and my valiant but futile effort for two comboed with a hopeful four for Ray vanishes in the breeze. Scores on the front:
Ray-32 (62)
Hawk-32 (64)
Toad-36 (67)
Ray is now the series leader with an impressive two points. Perhaps next week the turnout will actually allow for some doubles action. ;)

<font color="blue">Five Players Post For Doubles Action </font>
<font color="purple">New Team Draw Method Proves Popular With The Players </font>
At 1000 in attendence was Your Disc Golf Hero, George, (http://www.kawasakibikes.net/pictures/kawasaki-ninja-zx-10r.jpg) Ray, (http://www.3rdchannel.com/imgs_storefront/8/8_2_1.jpg) Ski, (http://www.holistic-online.com/Aromatherapy/aroma_ess-oil-directory.htm) and special guess star Mark Susi. (http://www.cameltoe.org/) As we go to the draw George immediately pulls out the Joker. I explain that he can pay double and throw everything twice, or he can join the team that comes out with the two of spades. George immediately declares he's going out solo as The Joker. (http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/pjason/graphics/joker.jpg) The rest of the draw split the two left handers as Ski and I again create The Models (http://www.janubaba.com/lollywood/models/males/Janubaba_29021_YouVeGotMale01_ZUOM.jpg) and Ray and Mark become The Fathers. (http://chrismiles.info/gallery/alldaybbq/images/two_fathers.jpg) Looking to avoid running into the campers on the backside and two recreational couples who had just headed out on the back, we start from <font color="red">#1.</font>
The Fathers instantly card a deuce :Dwhen Ray drives them within reasonable putting distance. Ski responds for The Models on #2 when he drives and putts for the deuce. ;) Ski owns #2. On #3 The Models huddle around the tee deciding what to do when Ski announces:
I've got something for this.
Something turns out to be a SE Leopard (http://www.marshallstreetdiscgolf.com/prodimages/leopard_se.jpg) which crashes home for the first ever Patapsco Doubles Ace! :D Of course we have no acepot, but I'll be hooking Ski up with a suitable trophy of this historic event. The Fathers manage a disappointing deuce. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif On #4 The Fathers card yet another deuce. :) On #6 The Models and The Fathers both card deuces as I handle the duty for us, and Ray does for the dads. On #7 The Joker continues his seemingly endless string of threes, :( but it's one better than the other two teams manage. :) Everybody deuces #9! Hey this is easy. :D Scores after nine were:
The Fathers-23
The Models-23
The Joker-26
Crusing onto the back The Models take a disappointing four on #11 :( to the other teams threes, but Ski evens things up on #12 as he outdrives me by 5' and calmly makes our deuce putt. :) On #13 The Fathers go down the actual fairway while The Models opt to challenge the pine trees. Ski again steps up and makes our deuce putt :), but is equaled by Ray. :cool:At #15 everyones drives stink. We opt to take mine which is open but shorter. I come up short with the C. Rhyno (perhaps the Q-Mega or Star Aviar might have been better :D) while Ski's infamous SE Leopard sails out of sight wide, but apparently kicks to within 10'. Unfortunately we both choke on the semi awkward shot through two small trees and take a four to everyone elses threes. :oOn #16 I give us the best drive of the groups, and we think we have a shot, but Ray throws a great second shot for The Fathers to catch up with us. Ray then nails the 50' putt for a three :) while we and The Joker have to settle for fours. On #17 The Joker sidearms just below the A pin for a deuce , and Ski drives 15' past the basket where I convert the deuce for us. :) On #18 Ski and I again conspire on our drives and actually execute what we discussed each doing, but The Fathers manage to avoid the four which The Joker was not as lucky to dodge. Scores on the back were:
The Fathers-26 (49)
The Models-27 (50)
The Joker-28 (54)
The current doubles standings are:
Ray-4
Susi-2
George-1
It was entertaining watching Susi work the course with his circa '95 mid ranges, and approach upside down with his dirt colored squishy putter. After holing out you can fold it up into your pocket for the walk to the next tee!
I've got prior engagements the next two Saturdays, so the next Doubles will be on the 17th from the <font color="blue">blues. </font> The park has mowed more of the grass, so if they keep this pace up things should look pretty good by then.

Patapsco Doubles Resumes (for a couple of weeks ;)) this Saturday at 1000. We'll be going from the <font color="blue"> blues. </font>
Since Ski aced I'm throwing in the towel and starting an acepot. I sort of declared last year I would probably do that if someone hit. It only took a season to happen. :D
It's one dollar. It will grow with no cap, and no set aside for a back up acepot. Anything in the pot at the conclusion of this seasons Patapsco Doubles rolls over into my next doubles venture, so be advised.
Also we'll have a ctp for an original Hawk or Bean t-dye t-shirt creation. Sure it's the one Metl doesn't want, but hey it's still free.

<font color="blue"> I'm Wayne Zink Damnit! </font>
<font color="purple"> Nine Discers Come Out For Patapsco Doubles. </font>
Let's start off by discussing some coming changes. I have to hand it to Metl that poker chips definitely seem to be the way to go. For starters have you ever tried to shuffle nine cards? Add to that the creepiness factor of Susi's daughter turning in his ace of spades, (http://www.hooterscalendar.com/images/vote/110.jpg) and needless to say I'll be stealing the poker chip draw technique next time. Now while Metl gets credit for that let's discuss what's up with the fashion sense of the Seneca boys. Metl shows up today sporting a garish tie dye with a three eyed smiley face on it, and camo shorts. I can't think of the last time I saw such a style debacle. Meanwhile his running mate Sean is wearing a polo shirt that he obviously got at the big and tall man shop. With the tail untucked this thing was down to the back of his knees. Is this a shirt or a dress he borrowed from his wife? Sean also totes his bag down around his knees. Is Sean confused and he thinks that he's 6'9"? Anyways back to the draw. For the second doubles in a row that I've attended I drew the cripple. Last Sunday at the Swamp I was teamed with Neil who as he approached me on #1 goes:
Hey Hawk you know you're essentially playing schizo because I have a boo boo in my right shoulder so I'm playing left handed.
Today I draw Metl who while shaking hands states:
You know I haven't played in seven weeks.
Next time I'll be teamed up with a paralympian. After the shuffle the teams were: Hawk & Metl The Hosts, then Wayne gets the Joker and declines to go out as the Joker  and instead creates the The Uber Team with Skyscraper Sean and Sidearmer George. Tom "I Owe Hawk $2" teams up with Ray "I'm The New Asst. Course Pro At Patapsco Because Hawk's Going On The Road" to create TomaRay and finally everyones favorite disgraced medical professional Dr. Evil and Mr. Cameltoe himself old wooden mini Susi join forces to become Fathers of the Bride. Naturally Rich was a "few" minutes late prompting some in the crowd to wonder,
Are we back to the 1100 kick-off here?
Perhaps the state coordinator needs a faster ride than his wife's mustang.
Heading off to the back <font color="blue">blues </font> The Hosts face off against The Uber Team while TomaRay does battle against The Fathers of the Bride. We immediately give up a stroke to The Uber Team as we fail to convert a reasonably makeable deuce putt off Metl's drive while The Uber Team take Wayne's superior drive and convert for the deuce. :DThen to keep our momentum going we take a four on #11 to The Uber Team's three prompting me to turn to Metl and say,
They just might beat us by 18. :o
Things were even from there until #15 when Mark drives down and disappears only to find his disc 15' uphill of the basket. Using my Wayne Zink straddle putt I manage to combo the hole for us and our first deuce. :D On #18 Wayne parks the b pin  :D while we take my less impressive drive and Metl's nice looking approach only to find ourselves 25' up and behind the basket. We take the four :( to The Uber Team's three.
Meanwhile out on the front things are rolling along even steven until #5 where Fathers of the Bride finally get one up on TomaRay who take a four. :) :( Then both teams must have achieved some really spectacular level of incompetence as they both take fours on #6! :o TomaRay manages to shake that off though and even things back up by threeing #7 to the Fathers four. From there they walked in unison to complete the front. Scores after nine were:
The Uber Team: 27
TomaRay: 29
Fathers of the Bride: 29
The Hosts: 29
Feeling good about hanging around with The Uber Team Metl and I stroll confidently out to #1 where we promptly take a four :oto The Uber Teams three. Then our card has it's own group moment of shame when both teams take a four on #2 though we maintain that's not as shameful as the other cards actions on #6. ;) After my card best drive on #5 which I followed up by throwing my Shark into a tree 20' in front of me :o The Uber Team proceeds to knock us to the ground, put their collective feet on our throats, and do something really unspeakable to us on holes five through nine as they pick-up a stroke on each one of those holes including a second deuce on #6. :) We did have a nice moment on #8 where my drive hit early and kicked left,
Wow look at that thing glide!!!
leaving us so far left and back that we appeared to be below #7's c pin position. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif This was our better lie. I managed to Sherwinder us to within a putt which we naturally failed to convert. Sean decides to finish us off like The Uber Team started by making the deuce putt on #9.
Out back Fathers of the Bride again take the lead over TomaRay by threeing #11 when Susi takes the sponge he calls a putter and makes a long shot that sticks. They manage to hold TomaRay off a little longer than on the front where the lead lasted for two holes by actually stretching it out for four holes on the back, but eventually they let TomaRay even things up on #16 when TomaRay takes the only three of the day :cool:on that hole to the Fathers standard four. Scores for the second nine were:
The Uber Team: 26 (53)
TomaRay: 28 (57)
Fathers of the Bride: 28 (57)
The Hosts: 32 :o(61)
$8 ;) went into the ace pot and shockingly no one hit it, so it carries over to the next doubles event which should be the kick-off of the new revamped Saturday extravaganza. Next Saturday is up in the air right now as Rich and George are trying to recruit me into a WV menage a trois next weekend. I'll post what's up with doubles when certain things click into place.
Current Maryland* Doubles standings are:
Ray-4
George-4
Wayne-3
Sean-3
Susi-2
*more info to come.

OK. I knew I was in 'write up' trouble when I arrived at doubles and the ring leader (http://funnypics.free.fr/explorer/public/img/m/metrosexual.jpg) called me over to his car (http://img.photoamp.com/i/wzIJdf.jpg) and offered me a choice of shirts (http://staff.osuosl.org/~kveton/imgs/tiedye.jpg). I guess I should have dressed more like the host (http://www.fancydresscostumeshop.com/images/10028.gif). As for Sean, he drives an element (http://www.ericharshbarger.org/lego/images/3_small_things/element_3.jpg) . Need I say more?

We need to work with Hawk and redefine the single player (schizo)rules...this stuff where the single man out gets to join the last group has got to go! In effect, we are playing doubles against a Triples Team...if you want to play triples GO TO B-More on Thursdays!

agreed, the 3some rule is ridiculous. essentially it gives the team 3 shots on every shot? how is that fair? if that is the case, every doubles team should get a mulligan on every shot or at least every hole.
WVOmorningwood
Jun 19 2006, 12:07 PM
SKitzo rules as we adjusted them in VA over the years...
Option 1. The single player gets one additional throw per hole...that could be the drive , the up, or the putt
Option 2. If the skitzo player takes a second shot...the second shot is the shot to be played from...in other words if the second shopt is worse that the first..to bad! Reason being is a single player can make the adjustment to the previous throw. So if you take the second shot that is the one you play. Becuase everyone knows...when practicing the second putt ALWAYS goes in!
My 2 cents

I think you are both forgetting that at Triples odd players (I mean numerically) get added on to the low card to create foursomes. Paul seems to have conveniently failed to mention that. ;) I am preparing to poll the players on cost and possibly other items as I evolve this into the next incarnation. My inclination is to allow the solo player to either pay double and have two shots for each shot, or not pay double and take Susi's idea of just one rethrow per hole. I also like the twist of the solo player having to take the rethrow regardless of outcome. The risk reward element is very appealing. The downside to this is that you have the otherside of the coin where a lesser skilled player may not want to go out solo vs. the juggernaut of Evil & Susi.

hey mongo,
that's because the fourth (if we have to have a foursome or two) always goes to the lowest rated team. more often than not, that team is a 6 and the fives have already been drawn so the combined rating of the foursome rarely (if ever) totals more than 10. if paultapsco doubles were even slightly ratings based, the comparison might hold water, but it isn't, so it doesn't. what-- am i supposed to let fourths have the option to throw three times?!?!?
you going to come break your wap wap cherry this weekend, greg?

cool. a poll would be nice, but i like the fact that you don't like the supergroup idea anymore. the only problem comes when someone doesn't want to play lone ranger, but then if they just get the on mulligan per hole, it isn't too many extra shots, but still gives them a chance.

I'm too lazy to back track the results from last year and this year, but I don't think the Uber Team has always won. Also the Joker (it's not the Lone Ranger anymore doof...that's so 2005) hasn't always won either. Let's keep in mind that Wayne probably would have won as the Joker nine times out of 10 anyways... damnit. You can't say that on the other bored.
