View Full Version : PDGA U.S. MID NATIONALS ----ratings

I know that the Mid-National was close to the ratings deadline.....but being a NATIONAL event I would think that these round ratings would be included in the last update....
One of the reasons for playing in such a big tournament is so that you can have one last chance to pump up your rating before the update....Just wondering why a National tourney that falls before the update would not be included??????

The cutoff date was June 24th even though the ratings got posted in mid-July. We tried hard to guess players' scores for Mid-Nats but figured they would rather have their real scores processed at the earliest scheduled time (which is Sept).

Hey Chuck,
Please tell me you will have a Gold divison next year, I know many other pros that would've came if $$$ was given out. I know the guys have a lot of work to do, but I would love to see some great pros up there, especially if you could get some of the gold tees in that would be SWEET!!!
Actually I REALLY want to play Mid Nationals next year, had a Great time all around, but a gold division is obviously the next step, hope you will make it happen ASAP. :)

Hey Chuck...are the ratings official and set in stone for all these rounds? I had heard that they will be changed by the next update, and I have also heard differently.

Mid-Nats ratings are being done in the next update in Sept so the current ones are unofficial.

Not likely to see a gold division at Mid-Nats unless the USDGC gives up being the National Open (gold) Championship. I don't see that happening. Timmy's Discraft Fall Open, Oct 1-2 will probably be the biggest Pro event there for a while.

I think the point of mid-nationals is so that the guys who arent going to be competeing at USDGC every year can still play in a major other than worlds.

Why should that matter?? Your still the only Major thats ratings based, any rating can play in the USDGC if you qualify, you would still have to be above a certin rating to play gold div. They don't have to give up the National Champ title, who ever wins the gold division would just be champ untill the USDGC, just like the ball golf majors, they have four a year.
So I think the pros should have more majors during the year, come on, really, is another major for pros really going to hurt disc golf??

There is only one World Championship and one National Championship. The National Champion is currently the winner of the USDGC and the overlap among those who cash at USDGC would essentially be the same who would cash in a Gold division that includes only players over 975. Even if I wanted to host a Gold division, I suspect the PDGA would not sanction the Mid-Nats under that structure, plus Innova would cry foul and certainly not support the event.

Are you kidding?? That's just STUPID, why can't there be a ratings Champion??

Either you don't want a Gold divison, or something is seriously WRONG with the politics in disc golf. I still don't understand why ANYBODY would make a fuss over this.

P.S.
I guess the words "National" or "Worlds" Champion is over rated, there's no "Golf World Championships" people only care about the 4 Majors through out the year. Mabey that's the reason DG doesn't have coverage.......................................
