Is this year's event sanctioned?

What are the entry fees?

Let's spread the word and get a great player base... :D

Thanks,

No way, not me. I'll be hiding from the HEAT. I'm always good for a Discraft sponsorship package though! :D

I was wondering if this tourney was going to happen. Mike Harrell and I were discussing that we didn't see it listed and was curious to know what's up with it. Some Info please, thanks.

Distance00 - the only additional information I have is that the format will be the same as last year. Start long and work our way short over four rounds.

Lets try to out number the okies this year in open guys!

Don't be scared of the heat, news flash you live in TEXAS.

I hate TX summers....unless of course it's indoors with the a/c as low as it can go. :DI'll match what my entry fee would have been with the equiv. value in Discraft merch. :p

I played it in 03 and that's how the format was. So I will plan on attending this tourney. I just needed confirmation the tournament is on. :)

Hey Fles, I'll try and roust some guys in the Austin area to make this event, no promises though.

How is Nolan's hand doing, he WILL be playing won't he?

my_hero
Jun 29 2005, 02:15 PM
Nolan's hand is still hurting him. It may never be the same if he doesn't give it time to heal. He has a job now, but will probably still play in the event. Go Nolan!

How much is the Open entry fee for the Fling? Anybody know yet?

cgflesner
Jun 30 2005, 12:28 PM
usually is a fairly inexpensive tournament.

I think last year is was around $40-$45 but i could be wrong.

Jul 06 2005, 11:44 AM
I will actually get to play this year :) Last year I missed out because of work... This is the first Open tourny I cashed in, so it always brings back fond memories of finally not getting spanked by everyone in my division  I would love to see a good showing this year... Consider this an open invitation to stay at my casa or if I'm packed I can find you a place to stay for any out of towners. I hope to have at least as many in open as we have at our weekly minis, lately with the ace pot that is around 20-25 so come on up or down where ever you are at and come get your *ss handed to you

Last year we had a great turnout and looking for the same this year. The course will be in great shape. Again this year the format will be from Longs to Short. We will be playing all Championship tee pads the first round and everything will get shorter from there. The last round will include the short tee pads. These are the Tee Pads we use for the Wednesday night minis. We should be finished up very early and get everyone out of the heat as soon as possible. As with all ADGA events there will be plenty water to keep everyone refreshed. Hope to see everyone here!

Clayton may or may not play, he has 2 wisdom teeth impacted right now. Nolan actually got a job and I haven't spoke with him about it, but I'll let you know. We actually have a handful of players that should show up and play if they quit using the heat for an exscuse to not play :(.

Bring all of the northerners you can and I'll do my best to get the local boys out.

I'll just tell them that the OKIES said they were scared and that should be enough ;).

I love the okies, but hate the Heat.

I decided at the A-Z doubles that my life was more important than a few Ben Franklins! No more 4 round tournies in the June, July, August TX Heat for me. Beating the TWO-HEADED monster by 11 strokes was fun, but not worth all of the sweat. :o

I forgot to add that i will be donating a Discraft CTP worth a least the same value as the Open entry fee.

Love the fling. Dont know about the heat though. Barbs deffinetly out of the picture. I still remember all of the heat strokes causualties at the Carrolton Charity Cup back in 94 or 93 when the temps were above 100 for both days. It was hot, hot .
I will try to make it .
Its a challenge of endurance and survival.
How about a keg of gatorade and Red Bull mix. :p :p

Hey Hero, you need the sweat pouring off your dancing man for the fling

The Paske Partners will not be there this year. We will be in Ardmore the next weekend for our lake party and tournament.
Next weekend we will be in Mckinney for another Mixed doubles event. Our schedule is full right now and after the Tulsa Riverside Tournament , we be tired and need the rest.
We wish you all a good time and play like a master and stay out of the sun and drink plenty of powerade or gatorade not just water .
Save the beer for the end of the day. Dont let the heat get u down.
Happy discing all :D :D :cool::cool:

Oh, and John, the offer of help I made....if you need a cup let me know. You'll have to put it on yourself however. :D

Jul 16 2005, 03:13 PM
Wish I were there instead of here at work

Figures that the nicest weather ever for the Fling is the one I have to miss.

Alright... break's over... back on your heads :p

I AM PISZED!!!

playing open master in a division with fours players... own the first round (championship tees) by two strokes, only two off of pepper and four off of nolan...

drove home for lunch... AND THE FREAKIN CAR DIED IN THE GARAGE - wouldnt start, i think the battery is toast.

mary mcg was gonna come get me, but toolen didnt wanna hold our little division for 15 minutes to let me get there :( (even tho we have only like 35 people on the entire course) oh well, i know thats the rules.. but freak daddy d isnt wearing a shirt, so no lectures about the sanctity of those rules, thank you very much

oh well, if my ratings guess is correct, it should be about a 960, and i wont mess it up in the later rounds since i wont be playing.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :mad::( :mad: :mad:

sandalman
Jul 16 2005, 09:14 PM
champ first round (champ 2,8,17,18) nolan 55, pep 57.
sandalman 59, open maters

second round long2long, champ 13,15 nolan 50 coupla 51's (one by mark thomas in masters) and a coupla 54s.

i think daddy d is leading advanced by like seven strokes i heard

Jul 17 2005, 09:44 AM
That bytes Pat. Great round though. 59 from the champs  When you come back down to play with us lowly AMs, I hope the extra weight* doesn't hurt your play :D

*baggger :p

Jul 17 2005, 08:36 PM
I'm really sorry Pat. If I'd had my phone or even knew what was up, I'd a come got ya.

Jul 21 2005, 12:02 PM
Did anyone see the article in the Star Telegram yet? Is it out?

sandalman
Jul 26 2005, 01:03 PM
when are you planning to change the pools for round one ? the ratings are whacked until you do.

cgflesner
Jul 26 2005, 01:12 PM
Good luck on that one.

Last years VPO's info was never turned in. :(

discgolfdog
Jul 26 2005, 01:47 PM
Hmmmm, Going back and doing some investigation, I see that VPO am weekend 2004 was included in ratings detail, but VPO pro weekend 2004 is not on the ratings at all. Why is this? I know I didn't shoot THAT bad to where all 4 of those rounds would have been dropped.
For some reason the PDGA took away the tournament history from previous years.

sandalman
Jul 26 2005, 02:26 PM
the VPO pro weekend was originally submitted, but got somehow screwed up when ratings were redone. i dont know if its the pdga or the td's problem. could be either. i've never gotten around to emailing the pdga office about it, but that would bethe proper procedure.

discgolfdog
Jul 26 2005, 02:35 PM
I've never been accused of doing the PROPER thing. I prefer rumors from uninformed sources thank you very much. :D

Jul 26 2005, 03:26 PM
I posted something in the Ratings thread. I'm with Doggy, we like slander, rumors, and hearsay. :)

cgflesner
Jul 26 2005, 03:38 PM
I really don't care either way beacause it will probally effect my rating in a negative manner, but a tournament of this caliber should have been up a long time ago. :p

my_hero
Jul 26 2005, 03:41 PM
I'm sure the ratings committee will have an answer soon. I'm with you though....i didn't play well at all, so i don't care to see it. :)

sandalman
Jul 26 2005, 04:37 PM
all chuck is gonna say on the baord is that you need to contact the pdga office. i posted the same question to him last year.

Jul 26 2005, 06:27 PM
My first round of -10 could/would probably help my ratings... My second round wasn't that bad but I don't want to talk about the last round (explosion)

Hey Arlington is there going to be a Fling this summer? Or did it already come and go

jasonc
Jul 23 2006, 10:40 PM
No Fling this year, the schedule has been too tight and it is one grueling tourney to run, much less play in. It looks like we may have a more open schedule next year so you may see it back it the mix.
