View Full Version : Best Wet Des Moines Course
According to the weather forcast the courses that are in Des Moines could be wet come Saturday morning. I'll be in town and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on which courses are the most friendly when wet (no huge puddles, not super muddy, ect.). I'm thinking Grandview looks a bit more promising than Eweing, but I'm not sure. I know that Southwoods gets pretty messy, though and Pickard has a tournament that day and I don't have the time to play in it. So, any recommendations?
So Big Creek is out? ;)
Man, I'm so jealous. I'd love to be able to play those courses enough to have a legit answer to that question.
Iowa courses rule!

The weather people here say its a small chance of rain but... Ewing dries the quickest and will not be as muddy as Grandview.Walnut ridge would be cool also I believe. Hope it stays dry so You can hit them all !!

Grandview can get wetter than you might think, but it would still be ok to play on. Walnut Ridge has a few holes that never seem to dry up but other than that it is ok.
Thanks! That's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. The weather always seems to be crappy when I'm there. Both my fiancé and I grew up in the area and have family there plus we're getting married in DSM next Spring so we end up going down there quite a bit. I didn't start playing disc golf until after I moved up to Minneapolis, though. I'm sure I'll get to hit all of the Des Moines area courses eventually.

Did you get to play any other courses besides WR? At least the rain held off. Pickard was crazy in that wind

Nope, I just had time for WR. I really enjoyed it, though. My score was horrible but I had a lot of fun. If you happen to find a white Pro Teebird-L somewhere on hole 17 with a name and St. Paul phone number on the back, make sure to call, or email the person. ;) I thought my shot looked perfect but my disc was nowhere to be found when I got to where I thought it landed.
I'll be back down for Memorial Day and I'm going to try to hit some combination of Ewing, Grandview and/or Pickard when I'm there. I'm looking forward to hitting the Ames courses as well. I know I'll be heading down that way quite a bit so I'm sure I get to them all eventually.

I appreciate the offer, but I went to school there so I probably won't have too much trouble. ;)
