View Full Version : Wednesday Night Mini's
A week from today, April 6th will be the first Wednesday Night Mini at Veterans Park. As always we will be playing from the short tee pads. I will be marking those this week sometime. The entry fee's are the same as the Sunday Mini's: $11-open $8-Master $6-All AM divisions. Minus $2 for non members. PLUS Last year we had an ace pot carry over. Normally we donate this to Sunday, VPO or Ice Bowl. This year we just carried it over. So we are starting the Wed NIght Ace Pot around $300. Since we are short on daylight the first several weeks, we will be starting promptly at 6pm. If you know you will not be able to make it by 6 the first 3 weeks, do not expect to play. I will be sending cards out as close to 6 as possible. Later in the season we can relax that a bit, but I want to play all of my holes with light too!!!!!! So I hope to see everyone a week from today.
To bad I work in Grapevine and don't get off until 6 :( Good news is that Grapevine minis start as well, see you there Myhero :D

It's true! Mace called and said so. Their last hole of the evening. A shorter version of the hole inbetween #18 and #1, throught the trees to the practice basket.
Toolen.......Toolen......Toolen!!!
BOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
The very last shot of the day with my trusty old school J-bird tye die cyclone. Straight thru the mando tree's slight hyzer right into the basket. I had just hit pan on 17 and was parked for 18. Turned a +3 round round around the last 6 holes to shoot 4 down and tie Clayton for first in open. $34 for tie for first, $390 for the ace! Had splits with Maceman, Clayton and Big Hand for $30 each, so I got $334. Too bad I have to retire this disc! I will have to go thru the extra discs and see if I can find another one of those sweet QUALITY discs.

Congrats Terry. That is definitely the way to start the season.
Thanks, Laura. It was allot of fun! Not too many times the TD hits an ace. I have done it once before and I know Pep has done it once as well. There is nothing like watching the disc fly right into the basket!!!!! :D

TT,
Should have saved it for the next Sunday mini you planned on attending(assuming that it doesn't go down while y'all are in SS). :D
Yea, It would have been sweeter to hit the big one, but that will have to wait until I get back from SS.
I was going through my boxes of discs last night and found all of my ace discs. Some how I forgot about one. This one makes 7. I hit my first in 98. Took me five years to get that ace. Then I hit two in 99, three in 2000, then another 5 years off and my new one in 05. Maybe I will follow the trend and hit 4 this year. Should have played Z Boaz last weekend and split the big one with Nolan. Sundays ace pot will be over $1400.

Pat,
It could be your turn. Skip ran last sunday, I did the week before. Cannot recall who did it before that. Skip came over last night and got the mini book, so he will be out there with it if you want to run it.

Apr 28 2005, 11:23 AM
The other day on Live 105.3 they talked about disc golf for 30 minutes. The close minded DJ was talking about the black eye the sport will always have; that all disc golfers are stoners.
Luckily after 15 minutes of airtime, the program director, Gavin came in and defended the sport. Saying he used to play it in Vegas (he lived there a year ago), and how cool and fun the sports is, and how NOT everyone smokes pot that plays.
The longer i listened the more Pugs the DJ was pissing me off. So i sent an email to Pugs, and to Gavin, explaining who i am, and what clubs i belong to, and basically said that this is an open invitation for a round of disc golf.
I was shocked when a reply came from Gavin. He said that he would LOVE to take me up on the offer, and he will insist that Pugs come along. So, we are trying to pick a date that will work for all three of us. I've decided to take them to Cedar Hill. Shorter holes, beautiful scenery....blah...blah...blah.
The question becomes:
Am i really the right person for this? :DLMAO!
I'll go with you!!!

John,
[Off-subject, sorry!] What holes were/will be used at the Olde Cam course for the WCO? (They should just call it WACO - Waco annual charity open!) I played a couple days ago one round at each course (59/49 Beast/Olde), and hole 17 & 18 were moved to the TOUGH pin spot. Are those the only two that change? Just for grins, I wanted to see how good those rounds were, and to my shock, I found that a 49 is a 1000-rated round at the olde course. Are there any others that are moved?!? I did really well (-8 after 10 holes), but those last 4 holes eat you up. I can't wait for the Am weekend. It'll be my first time able to make it.

Apr 28 2005, 01:26 PM
Everything on the Olde course was in the long position. Since the front nine can't move, holes 10, 11, 13,14,15,16,17,and 18 were all in the longest/toughest positions. Also note that it was extremely windy on day 1 (olde course -4 was a 1025 round!) . Here are the scores and rating for that event:

Where are the "toughest" positions for holes 11, 13, 14, 15, & 16? I figured those have been in their toughest positions for the last few weeks, or months for that matter.

Where are the "toughest" positions for holes 11, 13, 14, 15, & 16?
11 is all the way back in between the 2 tall trees
13 is all the way back and close to the sand bag wall
14 is all the way back and under the big magnolia tree
15 is near the corner where the canal and river meet
16 is all the way back to the pavillion (past 18's tee pad)

They wanted to meet on Sat May 7th, but i had to let them know about Waco's NT. I sent them links to the PDGA, the PDGA national tour, and Discraft :D
My question is , Is "Pug" secretly a wannabe stoner or a wannabe disc golfer? Lame people usually lash out at things they can't understand, grasp, or handle. What a chode!!! Crush em with kindness John. I'll go out to destroy the stereotype. You already know my personal standpoint on performance. ;) Way to turn a DG basher into a possibility for positive advancement.

14 was in the shorter position on wed.
Tonights ace pot starts at $398!!!! If it goes on much longer we will have to cap it!
With Wednesdays getting big and Sundays at $2356, we should have a very large turnout.
EVERYONE, please show up as soon as you can. Everyone that signs up late, makes everyone else play later. If you do show up late, DO NOT ask for a card request! It is bad enough to find a card to put you on, let alone have to reshuffle all the existing cards to make your request.
Thanks! Toolen

Now that The Vets wed ace has been knocked down, help us hit the Grapevine ace on Wed. It will grow over $300 on Wed. :o

It's over $ 1,000 at Bear Creek on Weds. :p
$340+ entries for the last Wednesday Night Mini next week at Veterans Park. If no one hits it, we will carry it over to next year.
Sundays is building on the 500, somehwere around 560 or so and the second pot is capped at $250. Come join us for a nice ace payout and lots of fun on the course!!!

How many folks are showing up?
We are shooting from the Wed night pads and Yes shooting at the ace pot as well. The ace pot is over $300!!!!!
Jeremy Ellis took first last night with a lights out 10 down.
Clayton shot a 6 I think and the last place was Charles with a 5.
We will run another one in two weeks and see how the turnout is. WE might go to a once a month thing, but it depends on the turnout. We had 13 total players last night.
that is almost the funiest [I'm a potty-mouth!] i have ever seen, hehe.

I was already listening to some other music, so I didn't realize it started when I clicked this page since it took me straight to the last post. I have to admit that it was one of the best bowl games that I have ever seen! It was even better then some Super Bowls!! But I still think that USC is a much better team...it just has a coach who doesn't know when to kick a field goal or when to kick the ball away and let your defense win the game for you.

You mean the defense that could not tackle #10 all night? Texas could have started that last drive on the 1 yard line and Vince still would have got the ball in the end zone. He was on another level that night.
