View Full Version : Help Gunars find this guy!
Hey everybody, lets help Gunars find this guy. I'm sure this guy is gonna talk to his friends sooner or later about this issue so when word comes around know what to listen for. Even if you are his friend, he needs to learn his lesson.
A guy came into DGX today and asked if we had any discs in the back. The clerk didn't know any better and let him look through what is my collectable discs inventory. Well guess what he picked? Some sweet CE Firebirds white (4) and walked out the door for $14.95 each. The clerk should have known better, but what kills me is this guy most likely knew that he was getting a deal and basically knew he was RIPPING ME OFF! These discs are going for $45 to 50 on ebay. If anyone knows who did this please contact me. Reward for information leading to the return of these discs or just who did it
Not sure many of you know due to poor retail sales and theft I am very near closing the retail end of this business. Having this happen today makes it easier to concider closing.
Thank you Gunar

Wow, Seems very unfortunate, but I don't believe he did anything terribly wrong. Your clerk SOLD him the disc.... it happens, not pretty but it happens

You might want to cast a watchful eye toward E-bay in the coming week. Good luck!

Any decent person who knows about disc golf and quality discs (which this guy obviously did) should have known better. It's not wrong legally, just morally in my opinion. I'll watch on ebay though to see if he/she is stupid enough to turn around and publically sell them

I dunno. We need more information. Were they marked at that price? If they were marked then I think the buyer is in the clear.
It could have went down like this:
Hey do you guys have any collectable discs around?
Well, my boss has some stuff in the back.
Can I see them?
Sure dude.
I used to have a Firebird just like this, and buy them on Ebay sometimes...can I buy it?
I guess so... I know my boss sells them online so I guess they're for sale.
Cool... how much?
Well... the champion plastic on the floor is $15 so I guess that would be how much these are.
----long pause-----
I'll take 'em all.
Now that would be wrong.
Well-Putting myself in both person's shoes:
1. Gunars-I would be ****** if this happened to my discs. But, I should've taken all my unsellable collectibles to my basement, not added to my disc golf store's inventory (assuming that is where the CE's were), where I know that the clerks do not know much about DG. I would still be ******.
2. Buyer- This clerk just brought out a stack of CE's from the back, and the price tag (assuming there were tags) says $15! I would not ask any questions, buy them all, and keep a receipt for the record. He did pay money (retail value) for some golf discs, which is what people do in a DG store.
I feel for Gunars' situation, but if they were my collectibles I would've kept them very seperate from my inventory and if not, I would've darn well put $40-$50 price tags on each CE , so there was no confusion. I'm darn sure he also made $ on this transaction, albeit he could've made more. IMO, if they have price tags on them, they are for sale for what the tag says.
That's a shame that happened. I ahve a stash of discs in the backroom of my store and from time to time people will ask to look at them. None of them have prices on them and if someone wants to buy one my wife (she works there) will call me and ask what to sell them for.
But there is a major problem with honesty of people. Last summer I had a guy come into my store and he seemed pretty knowledgeable about discs asking me about the KC hybrid Teebirds and such. Anyways when I rang him up I screwed up and entered 19 cents insted of 19 dollars for 3 used discs. He also bought 3 new discs that I rang up right. His total only came to 32 dollars and he paid and left. I immediatley realized I had made a mistake and went out to talk to him. He was sitting in his car looking at his new discs and laughing. I told him I messed up and he owed me $19.00 more. I walked back into the store right away because I had other customers in there and he just drove off. I was ******, he got a great deal and will never come back. :(
My problem is I read Gunars' email wrong and thought it said they stole them, but then again I thought I already posted this message yesterday too. I can't keep things straight anymore.

Somebody needs Spring Break.
I bet his spring break is already over :)
So does this clerk still work for you. I think this may be a bit of your own fault for not informing your clerk that those discs weren't for sale. I think that this guy that ripped you off probably thought he was getting the best deal of his life and hope he gets to keep the discs. If he does return them then you are a lucky b**** and should repay him some how he was probably only looking for good deals. Anyways sounds funny and good luck sorting the mees out. LOL
