Is it true about this years DGLO being a 3 day event (Friday-Sunday)? Just something I heard out while in Washington from a local pro; I figured I would of heard about it locally first but who knows.

Their website does not say anything.

I just got an email confirming this today. Not only that, but ams will only be playing the original and pros the monster.

"The format for the 2005 Discraft Great Lakes Open has changed! Player
check-in will be on Thursday. Everyone will play three rounds. One on
Friday, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The pro's will use a
staggered start. A group will tee off every 10 minutes. The Am's
will use a shotgun start and play only one round per day. The pro's
will play all rounds on the Monster Course and the Am's will play all
rounds on the Original Course."

Well I for one think this is a stupid idea. It will not bring anymore people to the tournament, but actually less I think. With check-in on Thursday travelers are gonna have to pay for an extra day to stay and have to take another day off of work. I wish I could play this year, but work will come in the way. :(

I totally agree I dont like that if it is the format but it may be to my advantage because i played so bad last year on the monster course.

That's the NT for you (3 days).
I don't like the courses either. What, we can't switch for Saturday or something?
Oh well. Guess I'll just have to pop out a few more 59's on that Original! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :o

If that is the case than i can just practice the original course.

But a 59 might be difficult to shoot from the long pads.

I really hope they allow us to play the Yellows to the champ baskets on saturday. We will have to talk to someone about this. I really like the Yellow course to the champ baskets and i think that the Original blues is a fine course for the pros to play. Who did you get that email from??? I KNOW for a fact it will be three days because i talked to Keith about it while we were in Vegas. However he NEVER mentioned anything about the ams playing just the original course. I will do some more digging and see what i can find out.

thats retarded. what about doubles on Fri? is it now thurs night doubles? why would they not give players the full variety? why have a 48-hole park and have every golfer only play half of it? it will be alot less fun (for ams at least) but easier for the staff to run. Ams should play black regs, blues and reds.

Here is the full email message from Bill Brady:

Hello All,

The format for the 2005 Discraft Great Lakes Open has changed! Player
check-in will be on Thursday. Everyone will play three rounds. One on
Friday, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The pro's will use a
staggered start. A group will tee off every 10 minutes. The Am's
will use a shotgun start and play only one round per day. The pro's
will play all rounds on the Monster Course and the Am's will play all
rounds on the Original Course.

The real reason I'm sending out this email is to beg for artwork and
ideas. We need 2 or 3 designs for discs and t-shirts. The disc art
can be one color or full color. We will be ordering both hot stamped
and ColorMax discs.

We also need new ideas for players package items. Discraft will be
donating discs and minis, but we need a few other items to put in the
packages. In the past we have included t-shirts, towels, scoreboards,
small bags, water bottles, key chains, mugs, stickers, bag tags, etc.
Please let us know if you have any cool or unique ideas.

Thanks,
Bill

It's still retarded. We have 2 world class courses. But for some reason, any given person at the event will only play one of these courses, at the biggest event in the state, close to the biggest event in the midwest. People drive hundreds of miles to play our courses. But we won't let them play both. Because it's easier for the staff. Yay

How is it easier for the staff. It would be just as easy to do the same thing just switch the division on saturday. Pros play Original blues and Am play yellows to champ baskets then everyone would be happy :D Personally i like the 3 day events better, especially when playing 24 holes. 48 holes in a day is just too much. No one can play their absolute best for 48 holes in 1 day. Its just not possible. Fatigue and everything else kicks in and you end up being dead tired for your last 9 or 10 holes and that can do NOTHING but hurt your score. Who is Bill Brady anyway???

All origanal is a terrible idea. you gotta use both courses. I dont understand why they wouldn't. it makes me not even want to play in it this year. Another thing i dont even think we should play reds in DGLO. its almost retarted to play them in this big of a tournement.

This is a National Tour event so they are catering to the pros which are going to be playing BLACK BLACK BLACK for three rounds as well they should be. Its the hardest of the courses out there.

Us am will be stuck on the original but from what I hear they may be making some changes to the BLUE course to make it more difficult which will replace the Yellow to champ round that we usually play. The reds is a good round to throw in there as well because some people cant play that kind off golf. Sure they can bomb long drives and make pars on the blues but when they have to be short at technical on the reds they cant do anything. Hopefully they make some changes to the blues and maybe add some longer tougher baskets and then we play Tougher Blues then Reds then Original blues on sunday. I think this will work out great and i love the fact that its three days this year. Hope to see you all out there :D

If anyone needs a place to stay for this one hit me up with a private message and ill see what i can do.
