My 3 flippy drivers - Eagle, beat Beast and TL. And my favorite Roc.

So i've got a handful (well 3...) Buzzz's in Cedar Hill's Pond. Maybe Felix fished them out, maybe he didn't. If anyone comes across them (light blue, dark blue, green, all with my name and crap on them) i'd love them back. Also my bro lost a sweet 11x teebird on #2 that he'd like back. Hyzered right at the pin and blammo, into the void.

looks like bkmisha isn't giving up the disc, he says he has to supplement he meager income. With something worth that much I do not belive that finders keepers is the rule, I think that you have to make an honest effort to find the original owner before you can go and sell it for your own personal gain. Put some pressure on this guy and help Fluke out!!!

Apr 09 2005, 11:46 PM
OK, so here's what you do…
1) Make sure you are the HIGH BIDDER!
2) Since the auction is local, arrange to pick up the disc in person.
3) Upon meeting this chump, politely tell him what he did is wrong and that you are teaching him a lesson by not giving him money for YOUR disc.

Apr 10 2005, 03:25 AM
Allow me to clarify..
the disc was not in the water.
fluke, myself, and Bonez were playing a round at Buckhorn.
Fluke threw a second shot somewhere on the front nine, between 5 and 9, and mistakenly forgot to pick it up. By hole 13 we realize this and start backtracking through the course asking everyone we saw if they had seen it. There were a lot of people out there that day, perhaps because it was 65 and still feburary. Anyway, we came back to the TTower after an hour or more of looking and asking to no avail. Fluke immediately posted the info everywhere he could. Whoever this guy is, I believe that he was there that day and took the disc, unless someone else took it and he got it from them. There is no way that he just found it in the woods, when 10 or more people, plankeye, Frank and others were kind enough to keep a look out, couldn't. And now, almost two months to the day the disc is listed on ebay??

Apr 10 2005, 08:55 AM
Last spring I bought 2 discs from him: CE Firebird and CE Eagle. When I got them, there were two names on them...the CE Eagle was Mills' and the other was Robert Wynne's. He made no mention of the names being on the back.

He also sold a Pro orc a couple days ago that I could almost be 100% sure it was mine...but I don't care about Pro Orcs, they were to fickle.

Apr 11 2005, 09:51 AM
Fluke,
Forget the militant stance... you are very crafty and smart, use that to get back. It is much more rewarding, to watch from afar.
Although the law supports the disc theives, most golfers have the mind to give back a disc, knowing they would want their's back too. The advice I received from an attorney was to get mad at the parks for letting these people break the law and enter the ponds on their property without consequence. Although the parks do alot for us already, maybe we should post more signs around the courses detailing where someone will be hung up naked if they don't give our discs back.

anyway, i was silly a chucked a blue valkyrie into the river left of hole 3 at kentsuck the other day. it's got Joe Tripp's name and phone # on the back -- I had just gotten it from him a few days prior and that was perhaps the 2nd throw I made with it :( I'd like it back if anyone goes swimming in that river.

There were two guys swimmin around in there today and were kind enough to look by the sign for me. My disc was right where I thought it was. Hopefully, if you had a disc in there you will get a phone call. I have seen the two guys at a few of the RADL events and hope they are upstanding enough to call. I don't know them by name. There were quite a few KC Pro Roc's, from what I saw, coming out of there as well as a few tye dyed Quantums and others. They were up to about 8 discs when I played through.

so what are we going to do about them?

One of my discs has shown up on ebay, and I know I didn't sell it. Of course you know who is selling it(bkmisha).

Then JoeT says there are others that are going in Cedar Hill's pond even though it is posted that it is against the law to do so. We know that most people that go in the pond at Cedar, pond at UNC, or the lagoon at Buckhorn are not going in to find discs to return to their owners.

I get my discs back out of the pond! But i throw DIscraft so thats why, im not sure what you can do other than hire i local snipper with a BB-Gun to teach them a lesson.

Actualy would a no tresspassing with a fine attached to the sighn help?

Apr 18 2005, 11:47 PM
Well, the sign says "No swimming or bathing". Maybe the question is clarity. It says nothing about wading in to get discs. Actually, I had taken extra clothes with me that day in order to get my roc back. If I found others discs (He found like 4 in that spot by the sign) then I would have called if they had numbers or posted here to find the owners if they could describe color and such. I have enough discs, besides if I came home with more without disposing of some existing ones first I think my wife would kill me. Every time I have found a disc I have made an effort to contact the owner. A few times I was given a replacement disc of choice or offered to keep it if I could use it. I don't except money, that's payout enough for me. I always feel if I help you, one day you will help me (how bout at few lessons /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif )

I have heard that there is a guy that goes in there every few mondays and always calls if he can. Maybe I was misinformed? I believe he was a RADL member. If not, being self employed gives me the luxury of doing this on a week day morning or evening where there is no impact to players like this past weekend.

Posting signs isn't going to deter someones desire for free plastic unless you want to privately hire someone to stand guard out there. If we yell at em they just say "I just threw MY disc in right here and I just want to get it back. Believe me, I have tried that.

The way I see it there is only one solution, have nothing in there to go after in the first place. Have someone who is trustworthy go in there on a regular basis and clean it out. Or, better yet, have an organized "clean discs out of the pond" day every month with volunteers. I would do it. Hell, I'll organize it if you want. The club can then sort them and call the owners. The discs without numbers or marks will then be auctioned or sold to raise money for the club or donated to new disc golfers. If this is done on a regular basis the "payout" will only be the occasional disc or two. Believe me, if I ever went in there and only came out with one disc I wouldn't go through the aggravation of doing it again any time soon. I watched a guy go in there a few months ago and he searched for about an hour. Didn't find anything. He said that would be the last time he did that. I've also watched two kids take an estinmated 20+ disc haul out of there. We need to remove that kind of payout and at least get some of these discs back to the owners.

Apr 19 2005, 12:02 AM
Joe's got the right idea here. Signs whatever isn't going to do anything (see thread on hole 15's basket as evidence for that). The best solution is to educate (doing that), eliminate the most common place to resale (playitgain), which we are working on. I know some have talked with the play it again guys about reselling dics that have a phone number on them (etc) to varying degrees of success.

But the best thing is to regularly clean out the pond ourselves that way there's nothing in there to get.

myze13325
Apr 19 2005, 09:29 AM
Here is the solution.

If you see someone in the pond call 911, tell the cops they are tresspassing in a marked restricted area. If I see you in the pond (and I don't care who you are, I will call the cops). I have seen a lot of people and even the ones complaining on this board go in the pond (hypocrits). OH thats a good disc I am going in after that one! (come on man)

The only person that should be going into the pound is Felix, if you see anyone else including me, call the cops (luckily I am not stupid enough to go in the sludge and don't throw a discs that I need back that much).

Wise up people.

Apr 19 2005, 03:00 PM
If I see you in the pond (and I don't care who you are, I will call the cops).
The only person that should be going into the pond is Felix

Who is Felix? I have heard that several people have tried to call the park authority and the cops with little result. Most of the time they have better things to do and don't respond. I have been out there at least twice a week for months and have never seen a park ranger or cops, but I have seen many people fishing discs out.

When I lived in Wilmington and first started playing in fall of 2004, I would go to Castle Hayne with Lawrence Beastrom and we would clean out the creek that runs along hole 8. So far the number of returned discs is over 50 between us in only 8 months of off season. I have only 2 discs from there, both were unable to contact or given by the original owner. Lawrence's discs are the same. I like the discs I have and prefer supporting the disc golf community by purchasing mine new and breaking them in myself. How many discs does one person need anyway? What do you get at Play it Again? $2-3 per disc? Big deal. I would rather return them than do that. Not worth it.

I also never throw a disc I am not prepared to loose. Most of the time this is a DX T-Bird that was a gift. As my skill has improved I have started to trust my throwing more and hence throwing the roc that day. It would have been an easy two if not for hitting the very top of the the sign in the water. Yea, it was low, but would have made it across. Freak act of nature.

If we can reduce the number in the pond or at least increase the number returned I still believe that is a step in the right direction. I'm sure the people who's disc I have returned would agree with me.

Apr 19 2005, 03:23 PM
I am Joe Tripp, I play at almost all the RADL events. I know who Neil is. Is that Felix?

EDIT

Nevermind. I didn't know that you can get the real names of the usernames by clicking on them. For the record, I have never been in the pond. If you see me in there, call. I'm just trying to come up with a solution to the problem, not trying to pick a fight. As for being a RADL member, I was turned off by the coldness and the unfriendlyness of the club when I moved here. Too tight and not open to helping new players. You gotta be in the "group" to get anywhere. I have not joined as of yet because of this until I get to know some of the members.

The other person that goes in to help felix during PDGAs is Twig. He doesn't go in too deep though because he doesn't have a wetsuit. He only goes in to get his disc and if he finds others, he gives them to Kirk.

He will be out at the Pro Xtown helping out at Buckhorn on holes 9-11 to retrieve discs he can reach(without going in too far).

There is too much chance of cutting your foot wide open in cedar hills and buckhorn's lagoon is NASTY. I have taken a shoe off to stick in the lagoon to try to find a disc of mine and it was just too nasty(the disc is the Challenger that is on ebay).

Yo Joe,
I am sorry that you feel RADL is a tight knit group, while that is true in a family sense, I believe that we welcome any and all new members. It may have something to do with the fact that the long standing RADL members have heard all about what people want to do, but never see them do it. The best way to get into the group is come to workdays... Join RADL and come to the Homecoming party! Figure out what needs to be done to a course... and do it! If the longstanding members see you or anyone putting in effort for Disc Golf, they will accept you on the spot and you will become part of the family. I have found it is a very good family to be apart of. Disc Golfers are on the most part very cool and courteous people.

Now on the part of fishing out disc... Maybe we need more that Felix, although he has been the only chance one might get their disc back (Felix you Rock!) but he cannot be there all the time. We can find a few people that are trustworthy and prove that they will go in on a scheduled basis to return discs. It will become a game... who can get there and get the most discs out before the disc stealing brothers. If we have 3 people who go in at Cedar Hills, 1 on monday, 1 on Wed... 1 on Frid etc. maybe we can nip this in the bud. Good idea...Bad idea? Whatcha think.

Just back from a junket to the home of the nastiest water in North Carolina, bar none, Cedar Thrills. (The pond at Buckhorn may look nasty, but at least once you get below the duckweed or whatever the heck it is thats growing on the surface, the water's clear; with Cedar, the nastiness goes all the way to the bottom!)

Didn't find all that much: maybe 20-25 discs total. Apparently, someone or someones went fishing recently. Did come up with the following, though:

Eddie Ogburn, orange 10x Teebird;
Bryan Oshnock, Proto Valk;
Moe Knapp, green DX Eagle;
Kris H, orange Pro Teebird;
Bird: green 11x KC Teebird;
J Clark, red X-Buzz;
Chris Benson, white X-Wasp;
No name/info, dyed Z-XS: describe (colors, pattern) to claim;
No name/info, CFR Starfire: describe (color, hotstamp) to claim;
No name/info, Champ Shark: describe (color, weight) to claim.

Look me up at the Pro Crosstown to reclaim or send me a PM.

Other than that, it's all no name/info: DX, a couple of Stratuses, a Cyclone, 3 Lightning.

A pair of neoprene chest waders cost maybe $50 on sale and will last 2-3 years with a minimum of care. As long as you don't poke a hole in them and don't go out far enough to let water spill over the top, you'll stay dry. There are only two spots in the pond at Buckhorn, and one spot in the middle at Cedar Hills when the water level is higher than normal, that I can't get to wearing waders, and if I were a foot taller, CH and one of the Buckhorn spots wouldn't be a problem. can i get a sponsor for the waders? do they come in squatch size? did you find my 10X?

how do you pick up the discs out of the water?

Yeah, Eddie and his partner were both playing well. They birdied 4,5,and 7. Then eddie lost his disc. They could have been about 1 or 2 strokes better before EOG left because EOG had some nice long runs for birdie.

Felix, if you don't mind another fish in your pond...

Kevin, at this point, my schedule will only allow me to get to either Cedar Hills or Buckhorn once a month, besides PDGA tournaments, so having someone else take up some of the slack is fine by me.

Personally, I think it'd be great if we could have a pool of 8-10 RADL-approved volunteers who working the water holes regularly and returning discs to their owners. At worst, I'd hope we could come up with enough volunteers to be able to hit Cedar Hills once a week.

BTW, it would be extremely helpful if someone can work Cedar Hills on Sat of the Pro X-town. I'd originally planned to work Buckhorn both rounds on Sat and leave CH for Sunday, but I'm guessing there'll be people hitting the CH pond Sat evening, hoping to clean up, so I'm considering hitting B-horn for the first round only and CH for the second round on Sat and both rounds Sun. Hate to abandon the Masters and Women, though, especially with all the water at B-horn, so if anyone can work CH on Sat, it'd be a huge help.

Joe,

Felix is a minister that also plays disc golf. We (RADL) have obtained permission for him to retrieve discs for us. He makes every effort to return discs to their rightful owners. He posts on here under the name of Fore.

See you tonight at doubles!!!

Kirk

I had wondered about that. If I still had time (or if I manage to find time again) for such shenanigans, I'd be interested in what would be necessary in order to obtain permission to help Felix out with that kind of thing. Actually I have a stack of discs I'd almost forgotten about that are marked distinctively but haven't been able to return because I either couldn't track down the owner or couldn't figure out whose mark it was...I need to get those to someone like you or Felix who knows more people than I do.

Sorta confused because of the "no entering" the water sign.

Now I'm just steamed. This is getting rediculous. Did you try and get your 11x or did they get it for you? Also, did they actually say that "all other discs found are sold on Ebay"? Someone's gotta be extremely hard up to go through all that, not to mention it just plain sucks.

Think about it, what do you get like 5 or so discs for a couple hours of time? That is unless no one has gone in there recently (not the case lately). Then you have to take time to take pictures, host them, set up an auction, wait for winner, wait for money, go to post office. What are we up to here, 1 hr per disc (5 hrs total)? Then you get lets say $6 each for them for a total of $30. That comes to those kids working for $6/hr. Not to mention the Ebay fees and the fact that there are two of them ($3/hr). McDonalds pays way more then that. I just don't understand the rationality. I mean I can understand it if a guy looses his favorite disc and wants it back. Or some of these rarer discs that are worth much more, but for the most part that's the exeption, not the rule. Look at the discs they are putting up on Ebay. I don't get it.

On a side note, I am picking up some waiders hopefully this week since I did volunteer for Saturday. Once that happens I will check the pond every chance I can, hopefully once a week, get some of these discs back to the owners. It will be in the morning before these guys get out of school or work. Lets let em spend a few hours looking and come up with nothing a few times, see if they come back.

Kdiddy, I think the morning or evening would be best. Probably morning, you want to get in there before they have a chance. Not to mention some people, myself included, are still playing up till dark some days. The mornings all you have to deal with should be people walking their dogs and stuff. I tend to favor morning runs for the same reasons.

Not to discourage you, but some of the scavengers get out there pretty early. I've been out at Cedar by 8:00 AM a few of times and found people already in the water, or evidence they've already been there and left, so 9:00 may not be early enough, particularly on Sat's and Mon's. Last year at the Pro X-town, I got there around 8:00 Sat. morning, and there were already three guys hard at work. They took off when they spotted me, but they must have had 20-30 discs between them. Unfortunately for them, they were parked up by hole #1 and they ran into Kirk, who gave them a choice of handing them over or getting their *s whooped. (His exact quote, as I recall, was "You can give them to me, or I can call 911 and report you for tresspassing and then I'll whip your [*****] until the cops get here." :))

I propose RADL do a few things here. Thesea are my suggestions and I would love to hear what you think:

1. Don't post here where you lost the discs, this is a public forum and you have no idea who's watching. Instead, directly PM Firtz, me or others who will be looking for you. Also, don't post when and where you will be going out, same reason. If you find something, post it, but don't advertise your "work on hole 7" shcedule beforehand.

2. Be more aggressive about calling if you see anyone in the pond. I don't have a cell phone, wish I did, although the wife wants to get me one. Maybe in a month or so.

3. Maybe we should write or print up something for the "authorized people to have in hand. This should come directly from RADL and the park authority.

4. Post a second set of signs. Here's what I think they should include, not necessarily in this order:
a. A warning about entering the water (all forms of entry, not just swimming) and that it is a violation of the park authority.

b. A caution about the hazards of going into the water (and maybe that neither RADL or the park authority will be held responsible).
c. Park authority and RADL's contact info.
d. Instructions for those that lost discs to contact RADL, not the park authority, to submit a "lost disc", not all have web access or even know about RADL.biz or this PDGA board.
e. Please help keep pond clean. Too many sticks, logs, and trash in there as it is!
f. Repercussion information for violation.
g. A "thank you" for helping resolve issues.

I know it's not my place to say what should be done, this is just a suggestion and something I have been thinking about for a few days, I'm sure it needs more but its a good start. What do you guys think?

Felix,

I remember getting there early on the morning of the Crosstown last year to get set up.

When I saw those guys come around the corner of the tennis courts with a stack of discs I thought I was going to explode. It took a lot of effort for me to talk to them in a fairly civil manner. When they started lieing and then threatening me what little civility I had disappeared.

I have seen one of those guys a couple of times since and he avoids me.

A healthy dose of fear can be a very good deterrent.

Alright, spent almost all day out at Cedar Hills today, worked for a few hours on hole 7. Collected 1 bag of trash. Cleaned a bunch of sticks and logs out of the pond. There are two that I got out and rolled far right as they were too heavy to lift and a couple still in the center of the pond. I only went in waist deap (10 ft from shore, sorry, went in in socks and jeans because I saw the Reaper from shore. Will have to go back with the waiders.) and only on the basket half of pond. With all the walking around I did there wasn't much in there.

Here's what came up.
X-Reaper, good shape, no name.
Special Edition Valkrie, beat to a pulp, no name.
#1 Helix driver, beat to a pulp, no name.

Also, on hole 4, found a DX aviar with "DS" on the back. From last nights doubles throw off? And, DX Valkrie with a used play it again sticker, pretty beat, no name.

Between hole 3 and 4, Rhyno, good shape, no name.

Hole 2's tee pad, Steve Brinster's yellow Roc, found out when I got it home that its cracked, trash.

Contact me with some details (color, plastic, weight, whatever) if it sounds like any of this is yours.

Will be out there Sat per Fritz to retrieve any discs that go in.

Ok, found the owner of the DS Aviar last night at the doubles. Gave the X-Reaper to one of the RADL members during Crosstown. Rest went to Felix.

New today:

2 different DX cobra's, 1 has "ROVER" on the front, other no name.
DX Archangel, no name.
DX Cyclone, has name and owner notified.
DX Valkyrie, no name.
Contact me or post descriptions here if any of this sounds familiar.
All in all, over the course of the weekend we have pretty much cleaned the pond. The ones I got today were either buried good or new ones. If you had a disc in there and it hasn't been returned it must either have been found previously or is hiding real well (or in the deepest parts). KC Pro roc with signature on it, looks like maybe Eric? something. Print next time.
DX Eagle - "Bob" written twice on the back.
Mitch Sonderfan's Z-Reaper. Thanks for the good location. Right where you said it was.
DX Shark - "MJ" written on back. Marsha? This yours?
DX Valkyrie - "Monica Livingston" on the back.
DX Spider - "Monica Livingston" on the back.

There were more without info on them. Some of the decent shaped ones are a DX Roc, KC Pro Eagle, Polaris LS, regular Glo Roc, Dx TeeBird, Dx Aero, DX Viper, DX Archangel, DX Valkyrie, DX Classic Roc. If any of these sound like yours describe the color, stamp, weight, or something to claim otherwise they will be turned into Felix or RADL during one of the next weekly doubles. I will not be at any events this weekend as I am heading out of town. PM me if you need your disc for this weekend.

I ventured upon an interesting find a couple of months ago - -

Found on hole #12 stuck in a tree in the middle of the fairway:

An LS Polaris by Millennium with the name Rob Whitehead written in faded ink on the back.

The message on the back of the disc in thick, black letters reads:

“To the finder of this disc – she has done well, helped me 2 years ago to take “Sneeky Pete in Alamance. Unfortunately, we no longer see eye to eye. I just can’t throw her anymore. Therefore, take it and enjoy…..God Speed!”

I don't think bkmisha goes out to Cedar Hills.
Chapel Hill's pond has been drained(the last I heard).

Frank and Bob went in to the pond at Cedar Hills yesterday after the event.

They found a QMS that is Bond's.
They found a Valk that is Marsha's.
They found a few other but I can't recall them off of the top of my head.

I think they will be bringing them out to doubles tomorrow.

I only spent a few minutes looking tues so that's all I got. For the person that told me about a wasp (or maybe it was a buzz) I did go back after doubles and spent about 30 minutes walking back and forth where you said, did not find it, sorry.

If anyone finds a set of keys out at Cedar Hills, please let me know.

Was it two keys?

May 20 2005, 07:40 PM
lost and found wish list on #7:
white CE Firebird (last run)
orange roc (big bird, but stamp is almost rubbed completely off)
yellow big bird stamp roc

all of them might have a <font color="red"> I </font> on them, but there is a possibility that they don't.

any help would be appreciated...they are just babies man!

May 21 2005, 01:58 AM
Red, none of those are in the group I collected from Cedar Hills.

May 21 2005, 06:58 AM
Thanks for checkin'...if you ever find one with a red I on it, you will be compensated for your effort and honesty...
we all appreciate it.

Today I found a disc over at Scottish Hills -- currently Cary's premier course. (Actually I was designing an alternate course there which is pretty fun and fairly challenging.) The name is not clear but it might be "Mike Stevenson". The phone number is something like 481-1303 (or 1393). If anyone knows him, or if he reads this, or if you've lost a disc at Scottish Hills, drop me an email at discgolfer@operamail.com. You could try a PM, but I don't get on here very often these days, so there's no telling when I'd read it.

Mitch had a good shot it just graced a branch of that darn pine tree on the right, lost all its momentum and into the pond it went.

how deep is the pond on #7 at cedar?

May 27 2005, 07:48 PM
Just a guess, but I would say the pond is about 5 ft give or take 6 inches depending on the rain.

Ok, 15 total salvaged, here's the list:

<ul type="square"> Mix 105 cheapo frisbee - gave to some kids.
One of Mitch's white D Buzz - "One Disc Ace Race 2004" stamp.
JK Pro Valkyrie 147g - S. Nelson, no phone #.
KC Pro Cheetah 9x - Gilbert D(B?)rown? - Severely warped, was wedged inbetween two rocks, shame. No Phone #.
Elite X XL - Ben Younglin? - kinda hard to read last name and phone is 60% washed off.
5 with phone #'s - Mike Wood, Josh Hepler, Jim Bryan, Mark (yellow Valk), Jim Brown. Will call in a few minutes.
And, 5 with no name or contact info on them to include a Whippet, DX Leopard, DX Shark, DX Gazelle, DXBeast. Give me some info on these to claim.

I chased off 3 kids (around 10 yrs old) that wanted to go in to look for discs. Wasn't a good day, spent 3 hrs in that sun and was having problems. There is so much (*****) in there it's hard to find these things. I WATCHED a guy throw one in, went over and spent 30 minutes looking for it and eventually gave up. Oh well. Hopefully I will get to go to the Valley Springs event tomorrow and I will bring these with, see ya.

Joe, you already know you're awesome, but Mitch will hug you and squeeze you and call you George for getting that one out. That's the money one he threw in there before we left for VA. We probably won't be out tomorrow (VA killed us both) but we'll see you soon -- perhaps Thursday.

I put two of those white Buzzz's in there, identical stamp, one purple i think, one green (stamps that is.) Thanks Joe!!! I feel like I owe you a good 3 or4 discs already. I'll try to bring some extra stuff Thursday for you to flip through and take what you need/want.

Jun 02 2005, 11:53 AM
Mitch, this one is the purple one. Hopefully the rain will slack off tonight for Kentwood.

Got a few more yesterday. There were a few guys in the pond when i got there. They left as I walked up, had maybe 3 discs each. I figure they dropped one in and in the process of getting it back found a few. Actually, as much time as I spent there I figured I would retrieve more, especially after a holiday weekend and doubles. Someone else has been in there since the weekend.

Ok, here's the list:
Champ Valkyrie - "Chris" on back, no number or last name. Describe color.
Few others, nothing that great. Another glo shark, dx puma held together with tape, dx roc with "i" on the back, dx stingray.

I still have this Cyclone, was taken to Cedar Hills on tues and unclaimed. Will bring all these to Kentwood tonight unless downpouring.

Jun 02 2005, 02:06 PM
dx roc with "i" on the back

May be Steve Johnson's.

After experiencing the weather last night I figured I'd go in today. Couple people experienced a loss so I figured I would see what I could do. All in all, it was a good day. Think I counted 15 total, some have already been called and/or notified.

Here's the remainder:
<ul type="square"> DX Shark with "I" on back (that makes two different ones I have with that same mark. Marked to investigate Steve Johnson)
Bob Weston (hazard)'s E Element - that's twice on the same disc hazard :) Neil Myers Cobra - was right where I saw the ripples. Plankeye's white D-Wasp
Champ Eagle - "Matt Mania" on the back
Kirk Yoo's old yellow DX Eagle with a "Play-it-Again" sticker over his name :)
The rest have no name and are all DX. Viking, Banshee, Archangel, Eagle, two Vipers, Wolf, Leopard, and a Gazelle. Describe color, etc to claim. No champ plastic today, water was still way up so I couldn't go in the middle. Still holding Josh Hepler's Cyclone (even though he said keep it) until either someone wants it (I don't throw them) or he picks it up.

Thanks, Joe. Was I right about it landing on an erstwhile island or was it actually swimming?

Also...is there any chance you'll be at Sanford or Jone Buggin' this weekend or could get it to Plank or Twig before Sunday? I actually barely use it at Zebulon but it's sort of a security blanket.

You'd think I'd be more careful with my security blanket. I carry five Illusions, I have three backups each for my Sabre and Blaze and two for my Optimizer of all things, a couple backup Element X's and some Panthers and Buzzes and such I barely use...and yet I throw my security blanket Element on hole 7.

Jun 10 2005, 02:00 PM
Arg, I should have given it to Plank yesterday at Kentrock. I am not playing in any of the events this weekend, but would be glad to give you directions to my house for you to pick it up. I live close to the intersection of I40 and Miami Blvd, in Durham. I will pm you my number.

As for it's location, it was sitting on the bank half in and out of the water. Given the rainfall that night I would guess that it was actually under a bit of water when you threw it there. Today, it would have been probably a few feet from getting wet :p

hazard
Jun 10 2005, 04:21 PM
What probably happened then was that I saw it skip on a hump or tree branch and settle a little bit, then it slid in out of sight. That would explain why I couldn't find it even though I thought I went straight to it.

I guess the guys at Kentwood didn't hold it for you? If not, then we may have people just picking up discs like this is a "free to good home" service or something and that's not cool. I may just leave the discs in the car andl bring a sheet of paper with the names of who's discs I have. If your name is on there you can find me and I will get it for you. David Amyx's KC Pro Aviar 10x sweeet :)

Initials PNY or PWY 10x KC Cheetah - no number.
Nate Bond - Yellow Q something, gave to Mitch tonight.

I left my yellow E Element on hole 4 at Kentwood tonight, this less than 3 hrs after it got me my first ace. Was throwing discs after the round with Hazard and TJ and threw several discs, this one went way right from 10's pad and I forgot. Too far and too late to go back for it now. Hopefully whoever finds it will be nice enough to call.

Thanks for getting it Marsha, you rock. Actually, I threw it from behind 10's pad in 1's fairway while trying a new driver to 10's basket. Curved right, hit a tree and bounced right. That's how it got so far over there. Note to self, never follow a stable driver throw with a finesse slightly understable midrange throw.

Hey now,

First off, I'd like to thank whomever found and returned my Tarheel stamped Sidewinder from 18 @ Zebulon this past weekend. It was the first disc I had ever lost in a sanctioned round, so to follow that up, I threw an old SE Stingray and lost it in basically the same spot.
The nice thick stuff to the right of the fairway off the tee. It has my name and number, but if anyone local happens to find it, I can get it @ Tarheel, or you could get it to one of those TTrim folks.

Thanks!

I'd like to thank whoever it was that found my BS Beast. JoeT returned it to me, but I can't remember whether he said he was the one who found it or if someone else did. Joe, if you were the person who found it, thank you.

hey joe, My partner Tuesday put a shark in the water. From the drop zone teepad, it's about 40-45 feet in, and about 10-15 feet left. I understand that's the deep part of the pond, but that's where a nice beat up shark is. His name is jeff I believe? Lives right near the course.

Was out there covering the RADL Challenge. Came up with some more to add to the list. Some of the ones I listed above I still have as well. Here's what I haven't put up yet:
<ul type="square">
White Cyclone - Mike Dee, no number.
Orange DX Gazelle - Name hard to read, looks like Mikk...Has a PIAS sticker on it :p
White DX Aviar - Caronna written on it, no number.
White DX Valkyrie - MAL on it, no number.
KC Pro Roc - also MAL on it, no number.
Yellow DX Gremlin - J. Turner with number.
Yellow DX Beast - David Amyx w/ number. That's two for him. I also have his KC Aviar.
White DX XD - Rim Sullivan w/ 828 area code number.
White DX Valkyrie - Lynnwood Ray w/ number.
Orange DX TeeBird - Chris Boyle w/ number.
Yellow DX TeeBird - Re Long w/ number.
Yellow DX Eagle - Todd Gillihan, Harris Bake w/ a 336 area code number.
Orange DX Cheetah - Bradley S. Wise w/ number.
Aqua Champ Monster - Finally, a champ disc. Eric Kirch w/ number.
The ones with numbers I will call tomorrow. That's all the marked ones. Here's the unmarked: Gazelle (was floating in the middle tonight), Cobra, Eagle, Orc, Viper, all DX. Describe color/weight/stamp/etc to claim.

To the person who's Red Orc I watched go in, sorry, I never found it. Also, to the person who said none of the peeps playing in the RADL Challenge would splash, I rescued 3 or 4 I think :o

This looks like a big list, but some of these I pulled out earlier this week. Slim pickins considering the time I was out there this week and that I haven't had the time to go in there in a month. Must be a lot of swimmers now with the warm weather :(

White DX Valkyrie - MAL on it, no number.
KC Pro Roc - also MAL on it, no number.

Probably Mal McLean. He's pre-reg'ed for the Tarheel Tournament.

Stuart Krall: I've got your yellow Champ Leopard. I'll bring it to the Tarheel Saturday.

Z-Predator, orange, really want back. bout 15-20 feet past the sign that's in the water close to the front shore, and about 25 feet right of that. Got slowed down through the cedar and dropped in, should be around there somewhere.
thanks Joe or Felix in advance if you happen to stumble upon it :)

:) My arm was dead from throwing too many **** flicks the day before at the Sanfor tourney (and Zeb when I got home) so I had no business trying to flick a pred over the water from the super long tee. <shrug> I know I can get it over, just wasn't to be yesterday. And yeah, if I just throw farther I'll get it over (I should stick to my own advice some day)
I threw pretty far and well for MTA though :)

On Tues 8/23 I lost a blue Roc on hole 1 at UNC because it was getting dark. It is in the rough on the leftside. It's bottom stamped, so there's no hotstamp on the top.

Please email me at LyrhNC@gmail.com. There will be a small reward and I'll gladly repay you for the postage to mail it back to me.

More than the disc I'd love to discover that there's still some honesty left in the world.

Some honesty for you...
A nice Disc Golf fellow by the name of David George called me from Wilmington, claiming to have found a Roc that I had aced with a long time ago. He found this disc at Zebulon, I lost it at Cedar...?
But, this nice fellow returned the disc postage and all!! I will never forget and if I ever have a chance to repay him, I will!

Dave is a friend of mine and yes he is a nice fellow. Below is a pic of him throwing in Kinston this weekend. He also has GEORGE tattooed down his right arm, hard to miss.

I dunno if you will see Stick before this weekend, but David George will be playing at OHO and you could give stick the money for david.

I think I know David also. Hard to tell from the pics, but if it's who I think it is yea he's a nice guy. There is at least 3 Davids I played with there in Wilmington before moving here, all nice guys and great to play a round with.

On another note, I have been taking an unexpected hiatis from DG this month. I started a new job that required training for the position and that training is done 2nd shift (12-9pm) until at least the end of next week. Haven't been in the pond all month and have greatly missed the weekly doubles and tourneys. Unfortunately, even after training looks like this job will require Saturdays so I may be looking for yet another job to sustain my DG craving Hey to all and hope to be back out there soon :D
