View Full Version : Hey from down under!

Feb 10 2005, 03:19 AM
Just wanted to say hi. It's abosultly gorgeous down here. People are really freindly. It seems that everything is more expensive (4 dollars a gallon for gas, 11 dolllars for a pack of ciggerates). If anyone is interested, here is the URL some pics.
I plan to make it Canberra to play in some event down there at the end of the month.

Yeah Chris good to hear from you. What is the weather like down there, have you found any disc golf down there????

Feb 13 2005, 08:55 PM
Ha! Disc Golf! No, there is a lot of ultimate, and object frisbee couses set up, but not a lot of disc golf. There is a couse in Canberra, the capital, that I am going to go check out. The climate is perfect, around 80 degrees with a 30 20 mph wind off of the sea. I live on a mountain, and a short hike up to the top reveals the entire surrounding city, mountains, ocean, etc. And yes, Aussie women look pretty good. More picks of them later.

New pics, CBD, Bar Beach, East End...the city of Newcastle and such.

Going to play at the object disc golf couse today at 4. So take all of their holes, add another 150-200 feet and get a ching skill shot, and I'll be ready.

Chris How much time do you have left in the land down under?

Apr 07 2005, 11:24 AM
Till July 4th. And as it turns out, I'm not going to Perth to play in that tournament. For some reason, plane tickets **** near doubled to about 500 dollars for the trip, and I just don't have that kind of funds. But, I am playing an 18 hole course in Canberra this Saturday, and a 9 hole in Melbourne the weekend after that.
Hope things are going well with the inception of the club. I'm also glad we are no longer in jepordy of losing our couse. Can't wait to see how it looks in the summer when it grows in.
Oh, and there are some new pictures of Sydney on my picture page here. (http://photos.yahoo.com/djfurthur/) Take a look, and there will be some added after my 2 week vaction.

Played Canberra today. Man, not putting for over two months reeks havoc on your short game. Got a chance to try out the new pro starfires, which are great discs. Also got a chance to check out the new special blend CE rocs, which have to be the greatest rocs ever. They hold any line, and if you throw them flat, they never turn. They have a really nice course down here. Not as wooded as Northside, but some good elevation chances, and a lot of different shots. I was quite impressed. I'm going out tomorrow, and I'll see if I can get some pictures.

Ah, back in Newcastle. The trip to Melbourne was great; I think I may live here when I'm done with school provided the city could build a few courses. There is a 9 hole here, but it's on a ball golf course, which makes for a slow game during peak hours. Got to play my first hole over a 250m! The course had some mad elevation on it, but not a lot of variety in shots. The people that I played with were great, though.

New pictures are up on the pic page. (http://photos.yahoo.com/djfurthur/) You can look under Sydney (again), Canberra, Melbourne, and The Great Ocean Road. I recommend checking out the last. Just make sure you have a fast internet connection; there are heaps of pics there!

Just thought I'd drop a line and say hi. School will be done in 3 weeks, then it's up the coast to the reef for me, then home! Winter is comming, and instead of being winter, its like 45-55 every day and raining. Not too fun.
Anyway, it was my roomates birthday last night, and I found out that Absinthe is legal here to sell. So see us all messed up last night here (http://photos.yahoo.com/djfurthur/) under "Eddie's Birthday."
I'll be sad to go, but I am counting down the days when I can quit putting at poles in the ground on a sports field
