- More than 1 over par (or no score returned) -1 points
- One over par - 0 points
- Par - 1 points
- One under par - 2 points
- Two under par - 3 points
I saw the above scoring system for the upcoming Joe Who monthly, and I really don't get it. The point values that were chosen seem to defeat the purpose because, barring any double-bogeys or worse, the outcome will be exactly the same as with regular scoring. The modified Stableford scoring used for "The International" (the so-called "5th major" on the PGA tour) is set to reward aggressive play by making a birdie help you (+2 points) more than a bogey hurts you(-1 point), with pars worth no points.
I don't really care, since I can't be there anyway, but just thought I would raise the point.
