View Full Version : I'd love to come play a bunch
I'd like to come up and play some tourneys either in may/june or august/sept, i could possibly even pop back and forth if it's worthwhile because i'll be in that general vicinity. Could you reccomend a couple really good events, i want qualifiers and higher tier events but i also would love to play in a few "homie" events as well. I'm an ad am. I hear you discers kick it and i just have to know.
Thank you,
Stephen

DGLO is a MUST PLAY if you are going to be up here around that time. Other then that there is something sanctioned almost EVERY weekend of the season. I like the HOMIE fall festival. Its late in the season but it is a great tournament. DGLO and Michiana are on consecutive weekends this year i think. Those are 2 great A tier events around here.
I suggest comming June/July. That way you can hit DGLO then the next weekend is Michiana which is like 3 hours from there then the next weekend you have choices, Brent Hambrick in Columbus, National Cherry Fest in Traverse City. Then 2 weekends after that is the Gale Vaughn Memorial disc golf tournament which is also a great event. I say swing in the week before DGLO then leave after Gale Vaughn. Let me know if you need a place to stay or what not.
dude, thank you so much, if you ever need anything get me at stephen@discgolfforum.com

No problem bro. If your lookin to play tournaments in MI and OH and IN and even further out then that i am prolly the Adv Am that you want to talk to. I have 40 tournaments on my schedule right now. I will hopefully play 35 or more of them. Including 7 A tiers USADGC. I know what tournaments are good in this area and would be willing to put you up for a while and show you what south east MI disc golf is all about. We have atleast 3 leagues a week and there are ALWAYS games at Hudson Mills and Kensington. Just let me know when your coming up and ill set up a schedule.
i think he was referring to homie style leagues not the homie fall classic. we dont really have any homie leagued in MI that im aware of, ew sometimes get a small group here in midland for it, but other than that the only homie skins ive played or known of was in kansas city.
By homie i mean, any good golf with soul golfers is fine.Yeah, SE MI is legend in my mind. I'm gonna feel like aragorn comin home... hopefully you all dont make me look like a slaughtered orc but if i remember right there are a very high concentration of awesome ams in the area. I also hear real good about austin, raliegh, minn/st paul... I know WI is phat.
Yeah... so if i bust through texas and up into your land when it's warmer i think it may be the best way to get an invite to something besides aunt ednas xmas party.

DGLO is worth the trip by itself. Awesome tournament.
And it's not that hard to do well in, I mean PIMP finished in the top 5.

LMFAO. I shot 12 down the last round to get that 5th place. And i only deuced ONE of the extra holes. That makes it 11 under for 18 holes. :D
pimp, you're pimpin disc golf up there aren't you? Oh yeah brother, Thanks so much for the invite. It's people like you who are going to enable shmoe's like me to have a chance. I'm in new mexico the land of no tournaments and perfect winter weather. It's a great place to train. Altitude over 5000 outside my door, Lots of rugged terrain to run, lots of arroyis to skate in. It's a lot tougher throwing high altitude imo. The lack of humidity and thinness of the air makes it extra hard to throw hyzer release turnover bombs like back in mass or Wi. There is less wobble in the flight of the disc...
Wow, that went everywhere.

i played in nm once, in albuquerque i think it was a 9 hole course with 18 tees, and it was by a high school or sumthin. if the am nationals is anything like the past one we just had, dont waste your time or money triing to qualify, just show up the week of and youll be let right in, its no longer held for the best ams or the ones who acually did qualify now you just show up pay your fee and your in.

I think they are viewing that as a one-time mistake. I could be wrong, but that was the sense I got after talking to Ellis or Pad or someone close to the decision-making loop. I'd plan on qualifying unless the 2005 website says otherwise.
