hole 4 is brutal! You have to throw a flex forehand through about a 4ft wide tunnel. I 3'd it once by hitting about an 80-100ft putt....pure luck.
I haven't played out there in a while but I need to get out. Richard tells me they have made a lot of improvements since last time I was there.
There's nothing to it. I throw out a hyzer to five's tee box and go for the birdie from there. It helps being left handed on that one /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I'd aggree about it being the toughest one out there, though. If you kick off of anything early, it's all over.
As for course improvements, Richard did a great job, and the city widened out the fairways on 1,2, 3, 4, and 6. The mosquito's are brutal out there.

It's good to hear that Richard has been making some improvements to the course which the city put it without any consultation from a disc golfer. I played it about 10 months ago and was aghast at its design. I wrote up the following earlier this year and e-mailed it to the parks director. He never replied to me.
The nine hole disc golf course at Miramar Park in Seabrook is simply the most dangerous layout I have ever come across in almost a decade in the sport. The first five holes play blindly down walking paths! From the tee pad, the thrower has no idea whether there are pedestrians, joggers, bikers, etc. up near the target. Have you ever had the opportunity to examine the disc golf discs that are used in the sport? They do not resemble regular Frisbees; they are designed for distance and have dense plastic and beveled edges which could cause serious injury. I urge you to actually go out to the course sometime and meet with disc golfers and see how the game is played. Most disc golf courses play in segregated areas in public parks; they don’t play near other heavily used areas and they certainly don’t shoot blindly down walking paths. On average, most disc golfers do not trek forward from the tee pad to check for unobstructed flight path; you would not expect a golfer on a golf course to ride ahead on his cart and do so, either. As I was playing the Miramar Park course, a group of about 20 people rode through on bicycles. They came around a blind corner so fast I was lucky my disc did not strike one of them. At least they had helmets on; the elderly couple that followed on foot did not.
It appears to me that this course was installed without contacting a single disc golfer or consulting anyone about a design. Any experienced disc golfer would have immediately recognized the hazards of the current layout and would never have agreed to it. Would you install a ball golf course without consulting a design architect and would you build holes where pedestrians walk down the fairways? Certainly not! I firmly believe that you have a potential liability situation down there. If the course and the park grow in popularity, I do not consider it needlessly alarmist to venture that it’s only a matter of time before you have a serious injury on your hands.
I would like to firmly recommend that the Miramar Park disc golf course be moved far away from the walking paths. On my way out of the park I noticed open areas beyond the skate park – are they used for other park activities? They would make excellent use for disc golf!
The bad news is that it's still on the path. The good news is you can see down the path all the way to the basket on the worse two. You still have to keep an eye out, though.

For the record, the city widened fairway #1. As for the other fairways I have been whittling away at them since the course went in last February. The city has not done any of the clearing of those. What they have done, which is good, is to mow the areas I have cleared.
#4 is the biggest improvement. You can par it (3) if you hit the line off the tee. The hole has also been cleared near the basket so that discs that hyzer to the left can be recovered.
The parks director has told me that nine more holes are in the budget for 2005.
The latest improvements to the course are on #3. You can see the basket from the tee now.

Has the parks director told you where he plans to put the new 9 holes?

No, He told me about the other nine at the last Parks Board Meeting. I plan to attend all of them from here on so when the discussion comes up I can offer to help in the planning.
The City is currently hoping to acquire more land. I think that might effect where the other nine goes.
