20 people showed up for the first experimental indoor disc golf/frisbee night at this HUGE facility on the SW side of Milwaukee (Franklin). Terry Miller organized it - putting, driving, CTP, Double Disc Court, freestyle, and more.
What a great way to NOT freeze your butt off during the winter months! $5 each week. The tentative timeslot will be Tuesdays from 5pm-7pm. Directions: From 94, exit Ryan Rd and go west to 60th Street. Turn north into complex's long driveway. Food and drink available onsite.

I figured I'd just start a thread on here so the Milwaukee County Sports Complex posts could be in one logical place.
To answer a few recent questions:
For the past 2 weeks we have had a very relaxed setting at the complex. Meaning we had a 55,000 square foot indoor field house where people were putting, driving, approaching, freestyling, and playing Double Disc Court (DDC). People also have been making up other various games and playing catch with ultimate discs. I have thought about implementing some formal putting leagues and such but for now, the newness of the place seems to keep people entertained for the 2 hours.
It is $5 to get in but soon they plan to implement a season pass system. That would allow you to get into the complex for free for indoor nights and also cover you at all Milwaukee County Disc Golf Courses.
The next scheduled date is Tuesday, December 14th. We will have the gym from 5 to 7 and then everyone is welcome to stick around for a Great Lakes Disc Golf Club Meeting. Both club and non-club members are welcome to join us at the meeting.
Tuesday, December 28th is not a SET date just yet because there might be Sports Complex conflict. We may skip that week and resume with every other week programming starting on the following week, Jan 4th. Please let me know if you have any questions about anything said above. I hope you can make it out there.
My friends and I are planning on going tommorow, coming from chicago.
But, is it only on tuesday nights?

There are likely to be only a few more weeks of the indoor complex disc golf nights so please be sure to come and check it out.
The known dates are Tuesday, Feb 22nd, March 15, and March 29th so please come have some fun. A direct link to a webpage is:

Also - as the flyer states, TGI Fridays of Southridge wants us to come in and get some drinks after our indoor nights. Please be sure to go over there for at least one drink so we can show them that being a sponsor is worth it! It's a win-win for everyone.

I'll get more information out here as soon as I can but I wanted to at least get the post up about the return of the Indoor Disc Sports Nights at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex.
They will start on Thursday, December 1st. We got pushed back to a later time frame. It will be open gym for disc golfers from 9PM to 11PM. They have a concession stand, pizza, food, and alcoholic beverages. I wouldn't be opposed to running some special games like we did last year. Maybe we'll find a nearby watering hole that we can patronize afterwards and maybe hit up for sponsorship?
Below is a link to the flyer. Let me know if you have any questions. Every person that came to check this out last year seemed to have a really good time. I will also have my pro shop open so you can purchase all the latest discs and equipment if you need it!

The late time isn't ideal for those who have to drive far or work in the morning, but playing DDC with folks like Don Loper is worth it.

Hey, Terry. This sounds like a nice respite from the cold, wet, and snowy outside world. If you care to line up some video footage from a night of indoor disc fun, this would make a nice little segment for my show about how folks get through the long winter months.

Hey there Joe. I would love to get some footage together! We discussed this idea last year but we didn't run with it. I will talk to my roommate and a few other people and I'll get something put together for you!
PS - Since DG Live isn't something I can easily view around here, is there a possible way to order a DVD set of the videos? I'd gladly pay for them (if they aren't TOO much). Or maybe we could work something out where I play them in my PRO SHOP as well? My shop is inside the same building as this sports complex!

Hi, Terry
I'm sorry you can't catch the broadcasts on the Milwaukee station. I have a few subscribers around the country, folks whose support is critical to helping DGL stay afloat. The cost is $10 per show, although I'm looking into a special lower PDGA member rate, as well as licensing retailers/tourney promoters to duplicate the shows and distribute locally as well. Having some DG on a TV in the shop might help those who stumble in to understand the game, so I'm all for that.
Keep me posted if some tape develops.
Stay warm. Alberta Clipper came through last week and its definitely winter here in Ann Arbor already.

For those who did not attended the indoor night last night, you missed out on some great times. There was a handful of people there from illinois and a handful from the milwaukee area. I would HIGHLY suggest that you come check it out, you will not be disapointed!!!!

I'm trying to generate interest in doing something similar here in the Appleton area but nobody has much of a clue of what we'd do in an indoor facility if we had access to one. What do you do? Set out a few baskets and practice putting and approach shots? Play some sort of games (horse)? I think just being able to practice putting with 3 or 4 less layers of clothes would be worth it.

Well,to start, you have a 55,000 square foot space, with sliding curtins that you can make sections of. One half of the gym, people are throwing across the gym, its about 200ft ish.... The half people are putting and i think there was a game of basketball going on too. Personally, i played "Disc" with D-Money miller for about an hour.....Its good times. Plus they have food and beverages available for a moderate cost. The cost of the night is 5$ each person. I think its a great way to get some practice in without haveing to go out it 14 Degree weather. So trust me, there is plenty to do.

Just a reminder that this is an ON WEEK for the Indoor Sports Complex. I also have DGA as a sponsor for a game that I'll run each week. Come to Franklin and check out the action!

Remember - Thursday the 29th we will be having it again. Last week we gave out a couple of DGA Squalls as part of a small game that I ran. DGA was nice enough to give us plenty for the entire season!
Winter break means winter fun at the Sports Complex so I hope to see a bunch of you down there this Thursday. If you wish to stop in a little earlier to purchase things in the pro shop, I'll be there.
Don't hesitate to bring your PDGA renewal so we can send it in as part of the Club Affiliate Program.
Happy Holidays.

This week and February 23rd are the last 2 nights for the indoor night at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex on 60th and Ryan Road.
I still have some DGA sponsored Squalls to give away along with some Discraft sponsored GT Bangers to give away!
I also have all of the latest discs in stock such as GT Buzzz (which people are loving), GT Bangers, Star EVERYTHING, Quad Shocks, and whatever else you probably need.
I hope to see you all tonight.

Tonight is the LAST NIGHT for the indoor nights of this winter season. Its possibly the last night we ever host this due to low attendance this year.
Come check out the indoor complex with all the open throwing space you need and also give aways sponsored by DGA and Discraft!
Prior to indoor night we have a Great Lakes Disc Golf Club meeting that will take place in my pro shop. That will start at 7:PM. After indoor night we will likely head to TGI Fridays for some half-priced beverages and appetizers.

You would have higher attendance if you could kick out those darn soccer players ealier. You got stuck with a crappy time. I usually have to be up around 5ish AM that is why I haven't gone the last few sessions. I will try to be there tonight.

Thanks for the feedback but it's somewhat of a catch 22.
Those soccer players are paying at least $600 to have that entire place for those 2 hours. We are paying... well, $5 a person. If I could somehow be promised we would get 120 people during a PRIME TIME spot, I'd gladly do it. Unfortunately though, that isn't likely going to be the case.
So because we are only paying the Sports Complex what we take in, they give us the 'not so prime hours' and understandably so. 5 to 10 participants even during our not so prime hours isn't even worth it either though.
Last year we had people complain about the 5-7 spot and this year we were offered 9-11. Who knows if there will be a next year.
Thanks to all of those that come.
