I thought it was now called THE BIG CHILL.

You are right in that it is officially the "Big Chill". Sweet - that means Mike Schwieger and I are the last ever "Real Ice Bowl" Champions.

Enough of that babble - I'm also running an event in the next week or so. This is a pretty casual and fun event on a VERY SHORT course which should be lots of fun. It has both bring your own partner doubles and random doubles all in the same entry. You also get a disc in the player's pack.

Get out the flyer at this location: http://www.lifetimediscsports.com/events/beaverRoundup.pdf

First we asked "Who Let the T-Dogg Out?" Now it is time for the "Random Beaver Roundup"!!!

I want to play this event, but I sure hope I don't get one of those lame Discraft discs with my entry fee. If the player pack includes only Dis-crap (haha, I'm so clever!), will there be enough time at luch for me to go home and list it on E-bay?

Probaly....but who'd want it?

I am sure there are lots of people who would like some random beaver. Or were you talking about the disc?

The disc.Not the Beaver.

I can think of one guy who would not want a Discraft disc (hehe), but he does not seem to be reading this thread.

Dec 17 2004, 10:31 AM
So how was the random beaver? I looked at the pics of the holes (the ones on the course) and it looks like the tee signs are on the back edge of the pad. Is that right? How could I take my 18 foot run up? What kind of disc did you get Jew? I want one of those full color challengers. Those are way cool! Wish I could have been there to see you get your first random beaver!

I actually STARTED a review of the 1st Annual Random Beaver Roundup however I have been sidetracked with lots of other work. Possibly our good buddy, John Knudson could write something up? J-Stomp - I'd really appreciate it. I would post it on here and on a few other sites.

Clark, I have those sweet new black Challengers so let me know if you want one. I think all of the 1st edition ones are spoken for but I spoke with Discraft yesterday and I will be getting some of the new ones. They only made 500 of the first ones and will only make 1000 or so of the second ones. That's all though.

I will write something this weekend and have it for you by Monday at the latest.

Why don't you e-mail what you already have written to my home address?

Dec 17 2004, 02:05 PM
Terry, you say black challengers? The ones with the eagle and american flag? I have only seen a pic of the top so didn't know they were black. I would take one!

I remember reading a post describing a 900-ft on-the-river ace-run hole. Now I can't find it.
Was that for this Ice Bowl? Was I dreaming?

Feb 02 2005, 10:05 AM
It would be nice if Green Bay had something like that to offer...but sorry

Yeah, you were dreaming. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hey Shawn

I didnt get the full information, as the interpreter interprets last sunday at the Big Chill, that there will be some autographed disc signed by Brett Favre. I wasnt sure if it was a joke or not. Is it related for raffle tickets?? Im thinking of going up and play Ice Bowl.

May the Disc be with you

Uncle Joe was drunk. there is no Brett Favre discs sorry. The tourny is a smaller event but the same format. It will be a blast. There will be trophies, cash, and prizes. Remember to bring a partner and some food dontations for Paul's Pantry. Hope to see you there.!!

Can someone please tell me what Pinecrest's course conditions are like? Yahoo weather says it is snowing now, and will snow more tomorrow. How much snow is on the ground up there currently?

Received less than a inch overnight. I don't know about the course first hand but my yard was showing lots of grass prior to today. Only piles left were where you shoveled it. Forecast for Saturday is sunshine with highs around 36-40 degrees. Doesn't get much better than that this time of year. :D

Good to know I won't have to tape ribbons on my discs!

Good to know I won't have to tape ribbons on my discs!

I don't think you will need the ribbon but this course is known to eat discs in the tall grass (without the help of snow).
Last year we received 7" of powder the day before the Ice Bowl. The groups ahead spotted for the groups following off the tee.

Have fun! I'm going to FL to play this weekend.

Feb 10 2005, 11:34 PM
Played Pinecrest for the first time today, Thursday 2/10/05. There is virtually no snow and absolutley no problem finding discs. Tall grass was cut in the fall. The tee areas are rough with several having frozen ice under foot and very hard to get good footing. Maybe the TD will alter some of those. Also some muddy areas to deal with. Forcast for Saturday is for sunny skies with highs 35-40. Can't get a wind prediction yet. Couldn't be a better day for a February tourney!

Thanks for the update!
We're gonna try to get to the course around dawn (leaving at 3am) and play a round before the players' meeting.
Are there any good spots for breakfast near the course that are open early? Does the pub serve breakfast (besides the liquid type)?

Feb 11 2005, 03:50 PM
Sounds like this "Ice Bowl" thing is going to be pretty cool. To bad I can't make it. But playing in single digit temps doesn't sound that great. So I'll stay down here in Tenn. and enjoy my 60 degree weather. See ya'll at Standing Rocks.

Feb 12 2005, 09:17 PM
Wow! you guys must have loved the weather for the "Warm Bowl" today. Single digits Matt, What r u talkin about :) Try 45 degrees and sunny in Feb....What more could you ask for? How did it go?
I had fun playing O'Hauser today! :p

The tourney was fun and the weather was beautiful.
Paul's Pantry made out pretty good.
Terry and Schweig took first in Pro.
I'm sure that Pinecrest's teepads will get some upgrading soon, but in 3 more years or so it will be a wonderful course. Thanks to Shaun, his girlfriend, as well as Ryan and Terry for a fun time!

Feb 15 2005, 05:05 PM
Thanks to everyone who donated to Paul's Pantry (which was everyone at the tournament.) I had a blast running this event and hope to do it again next year. Hopefully we will have cement teepads and the bridges put in for next year. Thank you to everyone that helped including my wife. (Klemrock- I told my girlfriend I was busy saturday.)

Feb 15 2005, 05:06 PM
Oh by the way, we raised $113 cash for Paul's and approx. 80lbs of food. Way to go!

I'll be bringing up FOOD to donate for the event - let's really show Paul's Pantry that golfers DO give back!

I'll also be bringing discs and merchadise. If there is anything 'out of the ordinary' that I may not otherwise think of bringing, let me know. I know Star plastic is good right now but let me know if anyone has any specific requests otherwise.

Thanks,

Ter

Terry,

While starring (sp?) out the window watching the snow drift I had an idea. What if you could buy a mulligan with an extra 5 pound food donation? Limit 1 mully per person. I've never been to one of these before so maybe everyone brings 5 to 6 pounds of food anyway. It would be mulligans for nothing then. Just an idea to try and generate more donations.

You have the Surge or Buzz GT yet?
