Appleton Area disc golfers tell us about your aces. Whether it's your first or twenty-first give us all the details. Date, course, hole, distance, disc, weather conditions, witnesses, money won, and anything else that may have lead up to the big event.

Well, I have had 9 in my 3 years of playing. My last was about a month or so ago on hole 14 (back tee) at telulah w/ a beat up DX Roc. Straight in!

Got lifetime ace # 11 on Wednesday on hole 6 at Pamperin Park with a Tsunami!

For those of you who know Pamperin, this is an extremely wooded and hard hole to even get near. It is 210' uphill and plays like 275'. Very narrow S-Curve opening to go through.

I hit it perfect! :D

On March 21st, I got my 2nd lifetime ace on the 15th hole at Pamperin Park in Green Bay. I used a Champion Orc. It is a short hole like 190 feet or something, but it's uphill in the woods which makes it play longer and harder. Mike Jolly was my witness. He signed the disc, and it is retired on display in my room.

I have 2 aces. Both are unfortunately at Kimberly and people laugh at me and say that Kimberly isn't a course. Anyways the aces are on # 4 with a QJLS - no witness. And #8 with an Orc witnessed by my brother Joe and Fishbone.

Apr 21 2005, 03:45 AM
Hey Craig, do you know what happened to the #4 basket at Kimberly? It looks like it was run over by a bulldozer.

Apr 25 2005, 09:39 AM
I think a truck or trailer got loose from the construction going on and rolled down the hill. I just aim for the hole #1 pin now.
Hopefully whoever ran it over will buy a new one.

My first and only ace so far was last september 2004 at Grignon park in Kaukuana. Hole # 3-233 feet. Witnessed by brother and a nephew.

6/5/05
early morning round by myself which sucked b/c I didn't have anyone to celebrate with.
Telulah
#11
don't know the footage b/c there are no signs at the course. Maybe 250' or 275'. I'm not good with distances.
Champion Sidewinder
What makes it really cool is that one year ago today was when I had my first ace at Grignon #4 with a Z-XS.
Todays makes career ace #3.
:D

Just nailed my first career ace a couple of weekends ago. It was on number 11 at Grignon (the one that runs parallel to the used car lot). I actually had to check the rule book to make sure it was an ace. I threw a swooping right-to-left hook my my Discraft XL and the disc actually stuck in the side of the lower basket! It taco'd to fit in between the metal that makes up the basket. I had two witnesses that mocked me the rest of the course, saying that it didn't count because it didn't land inside the basket.

Can't wait for my second...

Congrats Vball. A little taco sauce to go along with the story of your first ace. :D

I aced #11 at Grignon last year. I took the anhyzer route. Amazing short and simple hole except for the one thick oak guarding the right line to the basket.

Good luck on getting #2.

Looking for ace #4.

I just ripped my Blowfly into #10 at Standing Rocks (it's local enough). ACE with the Blowfly! Very sweet.

If anyone aces #6 or #10 (may become #13) at Kewaunee I NEED to know. They would be very sweet aces.

I can't remember #10 at SR. Which one is that again?

As you stand on the tee, the fairway dips into a small valley then rises back up to a green about 20 feet higher than the tee (uphill across a valley).

It's the old #6 - first one after the two that play along the dangerous slope down to the pond.

I now have my ace via Blowfly. Next quest is searching for an ace via tomahawk. Other than that I have one backhand ace and one sidearm ace.

Nice.

Aced Hole # 18 at Grignon Park, Kaukauna on June 28. I think it plays about 200' or so and it is 50' above the teepad. Threw my D BUZZZ dead center chains!

This is my 1st ace at Grignon.

3rd ace of the year for me

Witnessed by my buddy Tim Ullmer.

LIFETIME ACE # 13 BABY!!!!!!!!!!

I threw a Tomahawk off the hill on #6 at Kewaunee and it crashed off the top of the Discatcher!!!!!!!!! SO CLOSE!!!!!!

Good collection of aces Luedtke, if you ever play Kewaunee, give me a call. Same for all of you. I'm gonna put out another post asking for some help with the parks department.

I get to Silver Creek on Sunday morning and my 1st warmup throw is an ace on hole 10. Me and Scott Voss went to play a few holes to warm up. I threw my Wizard and hit the basket. I'm thinkin, oh well, another basket hit. We get up there and it is tacoed into the basket. Pretty sweet ace!

Lifetime Ace # 14

Then at telulah leagues 3 days later I aced hole # 17 with my DX Teebird. Rivers, Ullmer, and Jay Joseph were my witnesses. I think the hole is around 300'. The sweet part was I got $100 cash for it!

Lifetime ACE # 15

Good couple days for me I guess :)

We missed you at the Wishing Well though. :(

You were on with your drives early on Wednesday. You had a nice ace run on #16 which was our first hole of the round and then drilled your ace on #17.

Nice job. :)

Hit the pole on number 4 at Manitowoc last week.

ACE again! #14 at Kaukauna. I sidearmed my Crush and skipped it off the dirt and into the chains - SWEET!

klem, I use my Blowfly (regular) as dead straight, slight hyzer, or slight anhyzer for 175-210 ft holes. Deadly at 200' straight and flat, plus trees can't hurt it.

Aug 08 2005, 11:57 PM
I know I'm stretching the area, but I aced 15 and Standing Rocks in Stevens Point today. My first ace ever

It was a funny story too. I had been throwing my Z-XS very well lately, but I lost it on how 12 at Rocks yesterday (that hole eats discs as well as any I've played). I looked for about 20 minutes and gave up. Went back today, hole twelve, and my friend loses his disc. I help to find it and manage to find both, sweet, it was right were I was looking yesterday which was weird though.

I even got a little cocky about getting my disc back and how
it was game over for my friends, then 2 holes later I got my ace. It took me 6 years, countless hours and so many close calls, but I got it :) ;)

Congrats!

I second disc aced #14 at Kaukauna last Thursday. I was playing a casual casual round. I wanted to break in some new discs. I threw my usual Z-X2 and hyzer skipped it past the basket. I decided to try my Z-Buzz. Beautiful hyzer that hit nothing but chains. Still get that rush as you stand there on the tee pad with your arms raised in the air even if it's your second toss.

Went discin with my dad today at Plamann, and had one of the sweetest aces of my life on hole 9. I threw my Champ Orc on a good line and knew it was gonna skip at the end so I called it. Then the disc actually listened to me 2 seconds later and hopped right into the chains!!!

Hell yeah! Lifetime ace # 16.

That makes 6 aces for me this year; a new personal best for one year.

This is also my longest. I believe the hole is like 320'.

My dad also had a pretty good day and beat me 5 under to 4 under in our first round. He'd be really good if he learned how to putt with putters.

Speaking of aces today, Voss and I were playing a round at Grignon. We had these 3 young guys playing behind us. We decided after #11 (used car lot) that we would wait and let them play through since they were playing faster than us. I was drying my discs off when we heard the chains ching behind us. The guys were back on the pad giving each other high fives. But that's not the best part. They guys finish out the hole and we congratulate the guy. Since we didn't see it go in we asked him if it was straight in or a skip ace. He says it skipped in and that they were just screwing around. He said he had been throwing between his legs or under his leg. He proceeds to show us by teeing off on #12. He kicked out one of his legs and flicked a side arm shot under the out stretched leg and he made a serious ace run on #12.

#18 at Kaukauna (Grignon) yesterday.
Witnessed by Scott Voss and Dave Van De Loo.
Z-XL
Skipped off the top of the snow capped hill. Nice way to end a round.

FYI to the locals. Dave makes it sound like the Parks Dept. is going to make some changes to a few holes. He talked about changes to 2, 4, 10, 11, 16, and 18.

I ended a drought of over 2 years yesterday. My 10th career ace came on #10 (Pro tee) at Grignon in Kaukauna. I used a 175 star T-rex (WI CTP) and skipped it in. Jeremy Vils witnessed the beauty.

I hope I don't have to wait another 2 years for the next one. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Silver Creek in Manitowoc hole 9 from the long pad, 312', with a star destroyer. Slight head wind. I released it with some anhyzer. It flattened out nicely and started to finish away from the woods. It some how missed the 2 bushes that protect the basket on the right and skipped in. Witnessed by Jeremy Vils.

JV second disc aced #10 at Plamann on Friday night with a Magic. Laser beam straight at it.

I see this is a pretty old topic, but I am new to the PDGA and figured I would get some posts going.

So far in 2010 I have had three aces, all at Grignon. I got hole #10 on a skip (planned) with a champ Xcaliber one witness; it took a low HARD skip from about 40-50 ft. away from the hole (right in the money skip zone, as I refer to it) and hit the chains like a sack of bricks, I can't believe it stuck!

I got #14 with my soft magnet straight down the pipe -- it hugged the trees all the way along the left, with a very gentle anhyzer (1 witness).

And finally, a hole I've wanted to ace for years -- #16; I was in a huge group of about 9 players (the locals/league guys including Rich) and hit it with my new Discraft Glide. Took the right side of the middle lane, hyzered back around the last tree by the hole and stuck! I got paid about $30 on that one.

Side note, my bro just got his 1st ever ace on #11 at Grignon with his Star Mako -- although it's a short hole it was a sweet shot and it was basically in from the second it left his hand. He was so pumped, and he also got paid about $30 because we were in a big group again.

All were from the short pads btw. I really need to step it up and play the long pads here (I do at every other course...), but my friends generally don't want to.

I had an AWESOME Easter! I played my first round of the year at Winter Park with my 6 year old daughter while my wife and older daughter were running the trails. They were finishing up and called me to see where I was. I was coming up on Hole 9F and said I'd wait for them at the tee. They didn't come out to the tee and were waiting by the pin (alternate location in the woods right now). So, I decide to tee off and put a huge hyzer on my FLX Drone to slice in between all those trees. To make it even more pronounced the wind was howling off the ski hill and turned the disc almost straight up and down. Well, it made it into the woods then I heard the CHAINS! My wife and older daughter stood there for a moment, and since the pin is blind to me on the tee, I wasn't sure if it stuck. Then they both reacted and screamed and cam running toward me. It stuck! And making it even better, I slammed the chains right in front of them standing 20' from the basket.

So, we continue on our round as one big group now, we get off the ski hill and down into the creek valley. On Hole 12 I slammed the yellow band and was thinking "oh man, 2 aces in one day would have been incredible". So, we continue on and I think that yellow band calmed me down. We step up to Hole 13H back at the edge of the property, and the pin is in the winter location off the hill and to the right. It is a nice long and narrow shot with a hard fade right at the end. I pulled out the Firebird and flicked a bullet down the middle. It did what it was supposed to do, hooked around all the trees, and slammed the front of the chains. This one was wide open to us and we watched it all the way, seeing it stop in the chains and drop in the front of the basket!

TWO ACES in one day! I've had my luck for the year, I'm positive I'm done now. Those aces put me at 16 total in my lifetime (12 years playing).
