View Full Version : Aces??

I've been playing disc golf for 5 years playing in the Madison area most of the time. I have gotten only one ACE ever and that was at Sandy Point last year.

Reading this message board it seems that for some people Aces are common place.

Is it that we just have good courses in this area or do I really stink?

I think Madison just has good courses. I've had 40+ aces since 2001 and even though Hiestand and Token Creek are my home courses I have never aced from the long tee's at either one. ( I play long tee's almost every round ) I've had 9 aces total in Madison, all from the shorts. Which means even though I play there all the time most my aces come from else where.

I think distance or length of the hole plays a factor as well as quality of course (design). My home course has a number of short holes where you use a midrange disc and take a little off the throw, mix in some skill and a little luck and Aces happen. I've played Heistand and Token Creek and feel an ace on one of those courses is well earned.

I just started playing in 2002. I've had 6 aces so far but all from the short tees. I have two friends who have been playing for 5 years and they are both pretty good. Niether of them have an ace yet. Luck has a lot to do with it. I've seen tons of very average rec players get aces. It just has to be your day to get one I think. And from the long tees it's much harder to get an ace on most of the madison courses. I mean, Chris doesn't even have one!
