As many folks know, one of our best buddies here in the Ann Arbor area is having serious medical difficulties. Gordy Matthews is on everyone's short list of people who are the most fun to play a round with.

Gordy underwent some brain surgery last week and is recovering from it at home; The surgery was to explore something in his brain that should not be there. I just spoke with Gordy on the phone and he said that they do not have results from the biopsy that was done yet, but are certain that it is malignant. He expects to undergo both chemotherapy and radiotherapy to bring things back to normal.

Terry, the Brown Park Boys were asking about Gordy this evening, wondering if there's any news. We'd love to hear he's improving. Any word?

Gordy started chemo therapy today -- he has 6 weeks to go, chemo on all the weekdays. He hopes to visit Brown Park on 1 of the afternoons this coming weekend.

As Terry said above, we need more Gordys walking around the planet, not less. Although the tumor is inoperable, it is not malignant and I urge any of you who is reading this to pray or think positive thoughts -- it can be eradicated!!!

I am so glad to hear that it is not, after all, malignant, Jim. Thanks for the update. If you learn ahead of time what day Gordy will be at Brown Park, please let me know.

I haven't heard anything in the past few weeks. I'll ask some of the Brown Park regulars to see if anyone has seen him or talked to his family. If there's any news, I'll let you know.

We miss him.
