View Full Version : Moffit Park
I was told and read where Moffit Park was the best Course in
Houston. Thats why the HFDS had Soccer children
booted out of the park.
if you read it I would love to see proof... Moffit is the busiest....not the best. IMO

Ouch,
Pretty harsh don't you think?
Moffitt is a great park, the best? Well maybe for some, but that is a personal preference thing. As for booting soccer playing children out of the park the situation was that a promoter decided he wanted to build a gated soccer complex at Moffitt. I don't know all the details but my understanding was that the deal involved him making money.
The fields he proposed would have killed the park. Both for disc golf and other activities. It also would have taken out a bunch of really nice trees that line the course.
Local disc golfers weren't the only people who were opposed to this idea. The local neighborhood was dead against it. Furthermore, it made no sense. Less than 5 minutes away on Clay Rd. there is a huge play for free complex that has 28 fields. There is also a second complex on Barker Cypress, about 15 minutes away, with another 10 fields.
Gee, what is this, bash HFDS week? This is the second attack on the local club this week. Who'd we P.O.?
i think it is someone who is just up to no good trying to start stuff with the 25% rule..
well what is the 25% rule...?
- it is when the person talking knows only 25% of what really happened, what was said, etc...
thus the person looks like a dumba$$ and a troublemaker..
my question is why won't this person stop being a cowherd and get an id or sign their thread....
nuff said!!

This reeks of the guy that has been harassing HFDS message board posters for a couple of months now about our opposition to the commercial soccer group wanting to install 5 soccer fields at Moffitt. His name is James Strealy. Let me know if anyone gets a private message from him...this guy is a soccer dad with a single-sided viewpoint that hasn't liked the answers given to the commercial soccer group in the last 4 rounds they've tried to promote their idea at...
I've made multiple requests to him, in a polite and civil manner to stop harassing our message board posters (on HFDS) and now it appears that he has found his way here too.
Ignore the troll.......
We have no intention of keeping kids from playing soccer. And as one of your own asked at the last ( and hopefully final) meeting between these groups...does this plan displace another recreation that was there first.? That was the main question from the residents of District A regarding the matter. Yes it does displace a recreation that has been in place for several years. Yes it displaces a nature preserve that needs to remain undistrubed according to indepth consideration and study by TreeScape, and yes it is the wishes of the immediate community that surrounds the park, (as well as the communities located farthest away yet still within jurisdiction) all oppose the idea of having soccer fields developed in a "community park". The proposed plan is for a development that is condusive to a "regional park" according to HP&R's own guidelines. That is why they have repeatedly asked this soccer group to consider other sites.
So lets set the record straight. Disc golfers of Agnes Moffitt Park want kids to play soccer. We want to see them develop a site they can call their own like we have developed with the community and HP&R at Moffitt.
Please seek inquiry to the County Parks with Steve Radack. I'm sure there are funds available between the high dollar numbers the soccer group has offered for develoment and the county to find a clear cut area prime for development in an area just west of Beltway 8 that would work for everyone concerned.

Sorry but I did not mean for the previous post to be anonymous. I am the writer and just wrote my thoughts out without realizing I was not logged in. :o
