View Full Version : TOURNEY FEES & PAYOUTS

Here's my 2 cents on standardizing tourney fees.....

1) I like the fact of setting one fee all year for all tourney's but there are some issues that have to be looked at.....

a) Payouts - ofcourse everyone would like the payouts to be the same everywhere but it's just not possible even with the set tourney fee. Some places have higher tournament costs (IE: $300 for portapotties in Edmonton) which reflect the payouts and prize outs because the entry fees pay for the tourney costs right.

b) I think we should try and stick closer to the PDGA payout tables for 2004. In other words PAY OUT MORE POSITIONS!! I think there is a lot of people that are tired of the three or four same guys winning all the time. It's all relative to how many people are in the division though too..

c) What should the local club who is running the tourney retain as (if you will) "profit" from the tourney? How do we go about standardizing this?

d) Ways to reduce the tourney costs....GET MORE PRIZES FROM SPONSORS AND CASH!!! Think about it like this......if someone donates a Tour Bag with 4 discs in it as a prize for the amatuer division then use this for the first place prize. Now the tournament does not have to pay for the first place prize out of the tourney fees. So, this brings down the tournament cost..... understand... So this makes better payouts and better prizeouts.

e) The money for the Amatuer division should never be put into the Pro payouts. It should go towards paying for prizes for the Amateur division and ofcourse the tournament costs.

Well, that's my 2 cents......clear as mud I assume!
