View Full Version : Can a player request a tournament official to be present during a round?
Suppose out of a 4-some there were 3 people who knew each other and were pulling fast ones on the odd man/woman out, could the lone golfer request a tournament official to help in making proper OB calls, etc.?

Sounds like the 3 buddies would be cheating and would be DQ'ed if it was proven. I don't think it would be right to take all the officals time dedicated to that group. You can always request an offical to come give a ruling, and after 2-3 times the offical should catch on that something is amiss. But the best answer is carry a rulebook, and use it. If you feel you are being "ganged up on" Show the a-holes the real rule, and give them a courtesy warning.
when i started playing in tourneys there were a few guys that "made rules" as you played...i quickly learned after the tourneys ..these were not rules...so instead of asking an official to follow me i simply got my officials certification...after i recieved my card i proudly displayed it on the side of my bag in events until it was public knowledge that i was official...never had another "made up rule" problem ..nor anyone trying to cheat in my group other than a score card bandit one time...try this and you might even be able to help another group make an important call(if not in your division) thereby saving an overworked underpaid td the time of walking across the course to decide if its ob..just a suggestion..good luck
