View Full Version : Disk Golf as a Private Business

Mar 07 2004, 06:30 PM
Recently I was thinking about the reasons that NY does not have the massive amount of courses those mid western states or western or even Pennsylvania has. I started to think about the great opportunity that I had, to create a unique Disk Golf Course as a private business. This presents many problems and that the idea is in its infancy I have to explore every angle including the most expensive finding suitable land. What I would like is more information about other privately owned Disk Golf Courses and their development and unique problems that they encounter.

All of Maine's courses are pay-to-play so there would be a good place to start. (P.S. Make sure to spell 'disc' with a 'c')

check out www.chainbiters.com- (http://www.chainbiters.com-) NY's only private courses.

Disc Golf in NY is growing at a good rate- new courses are going in each year, established tournaments are getting bigger, new tournaments are emerging, and more people are playing in every area.

My understanding is that it is very tough for a private course to make money in a non- thriving DG area. I assume most courses make enough to pay for upkeep and improvement.
