Went out to Patapsco today to practice putting. It was a tad bit icy, and there's nothing quite like watching a missed putt land upside down and slide a loooooong ways. I found the stiff Aviars to be really good at this!

Yep, the lurker Hawk refuses to post to the Calvert Board - maybe we can rustle him out of the shrubs, yet :DLOL

Well, an information vehicle has been offered by the Membership Committee Chairperson, Ms. Rachel will gladly present any ideas or suggestions at meetings for those who cannot attend - simply voice your opinion in an email to her prior to the meeting!

Georgia Tour Stop. Outstanding work Paul! Lindsay posted here about the meeting, so I checked out the Calvert Bored for the Professor's wrap-up. Scintillating as always, though Rich did make me giggle. Hopefully Rich will let me know when to show up at the Rock. That tourney may be taking place this weekend the way things appear to be going.

By the way, that's Mr. Gimp to you pal! Still on injured reserve, but working on some things out at the park.

First official 2004 tour stop will be on 2-28-04.

Tell your friends!

I've actually considered that unpleasantness as a possibility. If the regular Tour players don't show up on this thread soon, I will have to put up one final post there to direct everyone here. That's kind of cheesy though, and they'll probably delete it ;), but it might come to that. Or I could get Blute to do it! :DI started this thread weeks in advance hoping everyone would stumble across it. I don't know who is viewing, but I would suspect that regulars would have posted.

Rich baby! :) Welcome aboard...where's Paxton and the rest of the Rockburn regulars? There is leadership here, but I'm so effective, it's undetectable. It's kind of like communism that works! Did you get my birthday note? We'll recognize your birthday again on the 28th.

yes, we need an am tour stop for the FTL event on the 28th. also i plan on going to seneca to check out the ratings based event. the ratings based birthday bash was quite cool. the handicaps really evened the field out with peopole who played well competing and people who played below their normal level not competing. of course debo is rated way low for his actual skill, so he playe dbelow what he should and still won!

Feb 12 2004, 04:36 PM
Rich,

I had thought about Stealing Some Love on the 28th, but two things worry me:

1. It is really cold off that lake. Trust me. I was thinking more like April for that.
2. Since that is my first outing post-surgery etc., I'm a little hesitant to go that far from home. I won't have thrown hard until that day, and I might just die! But if 1,000 people are going, then so be it.

Dick
Feb 12 2004, 05:13 PM
well, you can at least leap day. it's a little closer and you have that huge advantage due to your lame rating. although the injury should negate alot of that.

hawkgammon

TOUR STOPS:

Preparing to go South of the border next month.

March 6th-Loriella
March 21st-Sherando

Looking to follow-up my fabulous 4th place Intermediate finish at Pohick in November by reinvading Virginia. Sure I got beat by an 11 year old, but I've got a plan this year!

Without wanting to sound Brandon Baileyish here and wax philosophically on my registration choice, I'll be taking my powerful 839 and playing Intermediate at both events.

hawkgammon
Feb 17 2004, 10:21 PM
Blutefest got off to a rollicking start tonight at Zee Bones in scenic E City. Upon my arrival at 1900 I found Matt and Greg playing EA golf, and no guest of honor. The G.O.H. who called an 1800 tip-off apparently had to run an "errand" pre gathering. Who flies 2/3's of the way cross country to run an errand ? Upon the G.O.H.'s arrival we all embraced longingly and then commenced a rousing game of video golf. Halfway through the round, Greg had to depart to deliver food. Apparently he's working part time now as a Take-Out Taxi guy. He was in the mix for the lead with Blute and Matt. I was trailing...somewhat. Final results were Matt by one over Blute, with me placing solidly third...out of three. On the easy course. After several (individual) rest room pit stops we teed it up again on a harder course. Matt holding last place on the board at +20...clearly a challenge thrown at me. Matt cruised to an easy victory at about -12, with Blute around +2, and me clinching the record with a solid +22 or +23. :DSure it's not disc, but two of the four of us are on IR right now, so what do you expect? And yes this was my first time playing.

<font color="red">NO SPIN WINS TOUR STOP  </font>

The Tour resumed today at Rockburn with Jim coasting to an easy eight stroke victory over his nearest rival Matt F. Scores were:

Jim-51
Matt F.-59
Boyd-64
Matt R.-65
Sherwood-68
Rich-71
Paul-71
Hawk-74
Greg-76

I arrived dramatically in an ambulance for the resumption of the Tour, but everyone was down on #18 warming up with putts in the muck. Thus theatrics went unappreciated.

Fearful of our massive potential another foursome began play prior to the actual start of the Tour stop, and "didn't keep scores." Hmmmmmm...

Conditions were invigorating with a pleasant breeze of 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. This made putting somewhat of an adventure.

Our group (Jim, Boyd, Matt F., Greg and myself) started on #9 where Jim got his first three of the day. The rest of us foured. Jim deuced numbers 10, 15, 2, 3, & 5. He foured #'s 16 & 17. #18 was played to the "B" pin. Matt deuced #'s 3, 7, & 8. The rest of us were shut out.

The other groups card mysteriously vanished, along with half the group, and we had to rely on the score reporting of Matt R. and Paul. Considering that Sherwood booked quickly, I suspect their numbers were correct. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Tour resumes tomorrow at Druid at high noon.

Feb 21 2004, 10:56 PM
yes, that was quite possibly my worst round at the rock. if the wind wasn't messing with me, then i was just bluting it myself. highlight was either the doink from 5 feet on 4 while laughing at pauls doink, to take a 4. or the 6 i took on 7. what an adventure, i guess it was one of those days...

<font color="green">Sherwood holds own on X-holes </font>

<font color="purple">paul manages to beat recovering cancer patient coming off four week lay-off by six strokes for the weekend </font>

Four of us played Druid today from the metals at high noon. At Paul's suggestion we threw in the X-holes for a round of 27.

Final overall results were:

Glen-82
Shark-88
Paul-101
Hawk-104

For Druid proper we shot:

Glen-49
Shark-55
Hawk-62
Paul-63

The broken out X-hole scores were:

Glen-33
Shark-33
Paul-38
Hawk-42

Glen was hot shooting deuces on #'s 1, 5, 10, 12, 13, 14 & 15. He foured the newly extended #6 (it's down the cleared road around the curve on the left) and # 11. Shark deuced #'s 2, 4, 17, & 18. He foured #3 (from 2 feet ), 6, 10, 12, & 13. My only deuce came on #16. Paul was deuceless :( .

Much less wind today than yesterday, and Smokin' Joe & Deebo missed out joining us.

Enjoyed playing the MD Am Tour this weekend, it's hard to keep ones concentration what with all the ugly shots on display memo to self no excuses, no excuses, I am responsible for my own game ! Anyway, I am throwing in my lot with MD21954, hawk really has no chance with his disc golf "skills" IMHO, but what is wrong with Paul

Not my writing Linds, just cutting and pasting from the Bored to try and help out Jay. He emailed me telling me I had to attend :D but I am still leaning towards not since I need to conserve my powers to defeat Paul in the steel cage match on Sunday. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I think roughing him up at Patapsco on Saturday should leave his spirit broken. As you saw today only the x-holes saved him from ruination this weekend.

Show up.
Pay $20.
Get a cool disc.
Play on big long course.
Anyone can win funky doubles format.

How's that?

Ski,

Tradition and other obligations dictate the high noon start time. Remember Blute and I are pseudo cowboys!

Rich, I have a lovely shovel. Last April, Tom and Jim brought buckets, and we drove through the course (Blute was late ) and filled tees with material from a pile behind the b-ball courts. Have you chatted to Jim about this?

Tour stop still on for high noon at Patapsco on Saturday. Paul is chickening out. Apparently Lindsay has him worried. You can still join Rich and I for a round, some repairs, and a discussion of free speech. Rich's mother Sherwood might attend to defend him, so that's a possible added bonus attraction. :D

Yes but did they spell your name right?

This is the second disgruntled card complaint I have received in 18 hours. Lindsay says she doesn't have her Womens Pro card yet (I blamed tour director Rachel on that one) and now you. I thought I included yours and Mark B.'s MAT cards in the packet I sent to Rachel that had the Women's cards when I was actively dying. Though they might be in my trucks glove box. I'll check this evening, or I can send one of my staff over to the garage immediately. It's your call :)

Either way you are welcome to join Rich and I and ? on Saturday. Remember there are no rules. Besides your presence presents Paul another chance to lose to a woman...straight up. Unless he's "practicing". :D

Thanks for checking on my card, Hawk. I'm sure the mixup is all Rachel's fault- she's doing her best to keep me out of the tour, so she doesn't run the risk of losing to me. I wouldn't be surprised if she hid my card in your glovebox, just to spite me...

There is not enough practice time between now and Sunday for poor Paul to beat me- ratings based OR straight up!! :) Hell, if I'M worried about Lindsay beating me at the Leap, poor Paul must be shaking in his boots... ahhhh, poor Paul...

So, Hawk, am I being led to believe that you have been deemed healthy enough to play again?? Excellent! Wanna side bet for the Leap? My rating is 832.

As far as side betting, as the current Women's Pro Tour Gambling Champ (Rachel lost by a stroke to me at my Calvert Series final appearance-$1 cash American baby) I have agreed to go double or nothing with her for overall results. Handicap included. She's been ducking me for about two months now clearly trying to tighten her game up. I understand she has also begun a disciplined fitness regime to try to better her odds.

I would certainly entertain a similar monetary interplay with you. Paul on the other hand is not woman enough to do so. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

<font color="red">SHARK EDGES RICH FOR PATAPSCO TOUR STOP WIN </font>

Five of us played the blue tees this afternoon with the following results:

Shark-60
Rich-61
Paul-63
Hawk-68
Kelly-69

Using the Seneca handicap formula in play tomorrow the results would have been:

Paul-49.31
Rich-53.35
Shark-53.79
Hawk-54.31
Kelly-54.72

The four men teed off on #10 with Kelly joining us as we were arriving at our drives. Sherwood was consistent throughout the round while recording no deuces, he avoided any fives. Rich parked our final hole (#9) for his sole deuce. Paul deuced #7 and I deuced #15.

The round highlight certainly had to be the sight of Ski putting on the practice baskets as we approached the tees to #3. He was wearing what appeared to be a shirt he had purchased from the International Male catalog. It was black, looked to be made from some sort of microfiber, and had a zipper down the front. Having subscribed to GQ for several years I know the rule about men and zippered shirts. All in all it was a great look...for a large breasted woman

Hawk is only verbally mocking Ski's attire- those of us who were there couldn't help but notice the long, lingering looks... and what was with the drooling? A truly embarrassing sight (not Ski, but Hawk's reaction TO Ski!) :o

Bring your A++++ games today, boys- yesterday was just a ploy to boost your confidences- today, I intend to strip you of your masculinities! (Shouldn't take long to emasculate Hawk, as per the previous paragraph) :D

On a brighter note- Hawk has promised to wear less clothing today than he did yesterday. A bonus for the ladies- and the limp-wristed men? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

All joking aside, I had a truly pleasurable round on a beautiful day in a beautiful park. What a great tour stop! And- we met a lady named Laura, out playing for her first time. She was using what appeared to be a cross between an MTA disc and an Ultimate disc, so I gave her a Cobra that has just been in my bag for security blanket purposes. All told, there must've been 6-8 unknown gals out at Patapsco and Seneca yesterday- GO LADIES!!

Ski,

The Tour ventures into Virginia this weekend for the Loriella Challenge. For me the challenge is finding the course, but my native guide Rich will lead me into the wilderness.

<font color="blue">ROCKBURN WORK DAY DEEMED A SUCCESS</font>

<font color="purple">Tour Stop Rescheduled For High Noon Sunday </font>

Several hearty souls worked for 4.5 hours today on the new and improved Rock.

After Rich had augered out the holes, Boyd and SilverWolf poured new pin positions on 11 holes. Some are rather diabolical. ;)

Paul, Ras Disc and Raines cleared out the mess on 16 to open up the fairway from all the hanging vines. They also wheelbarrowed in crush on the infamous swamp tee.

Greg and Lefty Mike cleared out the mess behind #8 and that's an amazing difference.

Sherwood walked around and took pictures of men working.

Felty and I freshened up the tees, and possibly solved some of the run-off problems on #'s 8, 9 &amp; 11. Paul and Raines joined us in building the new #12 tee off the road. Only 17 &amp; 18 didn't get upgraded. Matt had to go look at floral arrangements or something equally manly. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Baskets might be shuffled into the new positions Sunday morning. Come try out the new tees...they are dreamy!

Thanks to Rich for feeding us! :)

<font color="orange">GLEN WINS ROCKBURN TOUR STOP</font>

Three of us made the hign noon tour stop today. Glen easily crushed Paul and myself. Scores were:

Glen-54
Paul-66
Hawk-69

After five holes Glen was three strokes up, and the contest was for second place. Paul started badly and finished better, and I did the opposite. Glen deuced #'s 5 & 18. Paul deuced hole 16, and I put together a lovely finishing string of fives on holes 13, 15 & 16. Circles abounded!

Hopefully better play next Saturday after fully recovering from yesterday's work day. :p

A Ras Disc relative, or amazing coincidence. How many Yingling's can there be?

I'm back on the weight's Rich, so I should be okay. Besides I need to try and throw my grown up discs in case it's windy Sunday.

I shot a 69 on the new pins and Paul shot a 66. Does that make him the winner? He appears to have beat Sherwood :D

Dick
Mar 19 2004, 08:56 AM
i doubt i've played patapsco more than a dozen times myself. ok, pick your poison! i think any course other than rockburn is level ground anyway. i'm not scared of throwing down at seneca with you. that was my first home course and i think i still have honorary homie status...

Dick
Mar 19 2004, 08:58 AM
rich - 60
shark - 62
paul - 66

not positive these are actual and correct as shark had the card. shark put on a hard run to try to close at the end, carding like a 75ft putt for a duece on 16. then i put my second shot on 17 behind a tree and missed a forehand lean putt. shark smelt blood and called long on 18. but i matched him 4 for 4 and snuffed his valiant comeback attempt. paul beat the hell out of some trees with some really shanked drives , but kept fighting and i think finished at a very respectable 66.

md21954
Mar 19 2004, 09:04 AM
yep, those are correct. i could have played much better. i was throwing like a spaz on the first couple of holes (nickle on hole 1, and a 4 on 2 even after a decent drive). played 15 well, again. a string of 3s lately on my favorite hole in all of disc golf.
