<font color="blue">SHARKY SWIMS TO TOUR WIN AT DAMP DRUID </font>
<font color="red">Paul Again Collapses At The Feet Of Your Disc Golf Hero </font> /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Three tardy discers got it on in the mist this morning. I was a few minutes late followed by Mr. Sherwood, and finally Mr. Druid 3:45 himself rolled in. We mounted up from the woods and off we went.
On #1 Shark whips out his new tool the Sidewinder and lets it fly. The thing has a ton of glide, and while understable in the beginning it will turn back. In this instance it understabled itself into a tree, and kicked back hard left giving the Professor a deuce putt right off the bat. :cool:Things got ugly on #3 where I barely made it out of the hole, and ended up taking a five. :( Everything else remained more or less status quo with some long putts made by all, and some short ones missed. I finally got a little redemption by deucing #9. :) Scores at the crossing were:
Shark-28
Hawk-29
Paul-29
On #10 I Leopard and Mark Sidewinders into what used to be the right hand rough, but what is now best described as "a sunken landing area." On #11 I opt out of Spidering around the corner and do my usual Leopard crash into it. Paul meanwhile Classic Roc's around the corner and deuces the hole :cool:much to my annoyance and chagrin. :oThen Paul nails a long putt on #12 for back to back deuces. :DThis leads to a resumption of Paul espousing how he is a better putter than Shark, who was nailing them in the damp warm-up session. Like a good fish, Mark refused to take this bait, but (pause for dramatic musical moment) this will come back to haunt you know who. :D On #15 Paul and I fail to clear the path electing to both slam into trees. A vigorous debate ensues over who has the worse lie. I believe that my eventual five to Paul's four makes me the winner in that intellectual exercise. Finally we get to destiny. Paul had mentioned several times how he parked #18 last time out (which for him was probably Friday) after calling a skip shot from the tee to go under the pine tree. Attempting to recreate this magic he yanks it slightly right. His second shot fails to clear to tree leaving him with a long 35' putt. This sails over the basket. On the 15' comeback for a four he zips by again. md2384793758 is now facing another 15' for his five. This is the better putter? At this point the Professor turns to me and whispers, "he's not home yet." ;) And bingo it's off the chains to the left. Paul walks off with a drop-in six :(, and the legend grows.
Final scores were:
Mark-54 (26)
Hawk-58 (29)
Mr. Druid-60 (31)

Arriving at the park I see Ski limbering up and Paul, Ras, & Glen staggering off the course. I engage Paul in some banter while pre-reging for the D.I.B. (http://home.comcast.net/~rhmiracle/druid_ice_bowl.pdf)
i'm playing at 10. 18 long. will leave my score on the basket.
Hawk: Did you leave your score down on 18?
Paul: Naw.
H: That bad huh?
P: It's tough out there. Really windy. I was okay on the front, but the back nine ate me up.
H: So how bad?
P: Oh I was well into the 60's.* :(
*Ski and I agreed that
Well into the 60's
probably translates into a 68. :D
After loosening up with a couple of drives, and then some putting, Minefski and I headed out to beautify the park with our presence. Note to the Dork who left their Orc on the ground at 18. Glen I have your disc in my truck. Today I decided to practice with the DX TeeBird. On #1 I cranked it only to be outdriven by Ski. This lead me to think that at some point we need an Am Tour distance competition. I also decided to keep track of which of us had the most distance on each drive, but I modified that later as length is not always a good thing if you do something like our friend the Yankanator. So I chose to log which of us was closest to the basket on each drive. On #2 Ski busts out the first deuce of the day :cool:by driving within 10' of the basket. I return the favor on #3 with my first deuce :) while Capt. Security takes a four. :( It was a series of threes the rest of the way until we got to #9 where I opted to explore a back door route, and then left myself just a tad bit short. I missed the putt and ate my first four. :( Scores at the turn were:
Ski-27
Hawk-27
Driving efficiency went to Ski 6-3. :o
On the back nine things got ugly right off the bat on #10 with Ski taking a five to my four. Ski's drive was five feet short of the tunnel, but his second shot went about 10' before finding a tree. I was left and short, and I ended up in the rough 10' from the basket after my second shot. We both foured #12 which is something of a moral victory. :DOn #13 Ski calls it and then deuces it. :cool:On #17 Ski parks the basket for another deuce. Meanwhile I have gone 4-4-4 on #'s 10-12, but then settle into a three groove. Protecting a one stroke lead and having 18's tee, Ski wisely calls for the safe short basket, and we both three it, though I made a rather dramatic run at it from about 60' for the tie. Final scores were:
see if you can match my 57 today.
Ski-56 (29) 12 drives
Hawk-57 (30) 5 drives*
*One drive was deemed a tie due to the lack of a laser range finder. :D
Good times, and a completed round in about 85 minutes. :)

Played solo at the Grove today. I warmed up doing some test driving, including the Innova Ace. It's flippy and a little shorter than a Leopard. It rolled well, but not amazingly better enough than a Leopard to be a keeper. During this driving I recorded a trash can ace with a DX TeeBird from about 250'. It went up and hyzered, and as I looked away in disgust and to pick up the next TB, I turned to see where it landed and heard a loud metal crash. I wondered if it was inside, and it was. :D
I shot a 30 on the front nine with a deuce on #8. Things went horribly awry on the deul drives from the school. Shooting on #11 the Champion Leopard swings around the wrong side of the mando before settling nicely in the fairway. :( Never having been told of a drop zone I assumed reteeing was the way to go. I turnover the ProLine Spider right under the picninc tables. :mad:Heading over to #10's tee I know I need to do something to offset the coming six or seven. I take the CE Spider and miss the ace by about 2' landing 5' behind the basket for the deuce. :cool:Yes it was a circle six on #11. :oI also took the traditional five on #16 and a circle four on #17 after OBing into the left hand rough. On my second shot on #18 my disc and a disc from someone playing #1 head toward the basket together. It's a couple of the locals!
Neck 1: That's a real nice bag you got there boy.
Hawk: Thanks. It's a Revolution. A guy in Virginia makes them.
Neck 2: I seen ones like that on the In Nova (spaced to recreate his pronunciation) and Discraft computer sites.
Hawk: Interesting.
N2: That's a real purty putter you got there.
H: Yes it's a dyed Champion Aviar. I'd allow you to touch it, but your hands are clearly greasy with...something.
N1: That's like 30'.
(I make the putt)
N2: Wow!
N1: Cool!
H: Thanks gentlemen. Please do society a favor and don't breed okay?
N2: Huh?
H: Exactly.
Shot 36 on the back for a 66 total. :p
Is it just me, or have others noticed that Paul doesn't post his scores anymore? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I strolled around Patapsco today from the blue tees in the drizzle and cold dampness. The sun did try to break through near the end of the round. I had no deuces, and I was experimenting with the Leopards alot. On #6 someone has left a skull on top of the basket. I was unable to identify the animal (where's Ski when you need him?) but it had the teeth attached which was kind of cool. On #9 the tree just past the mando snapped off about ten feet up and is now blocking the fairway. Speaking of course damage I forgot to mention that at Pine Grove the right side of #6 continues to erode. Eventually we'll be shooting over a chasm there. I shot a 31 on the front with a rather unfortunate 5 on #4 when my putt for three hits a tree in front of me, and then I miss again. :o:( Things only got worse on the back where my drive on #10 hits the tree in front of the red tee. On #13 my drive ends up near the mando. I punch back to the fairway, and my third shot lands 20' to the right of the basket. Aha I can salvage this four! Wrong my putt cuts right through the chains, not vertically, but horizontally! Argh. On #15 the DX Leopard and I are a disasterous combination and it takes three shots to get down pin high and left. Arriving down there I find a tree down that missed the basket by three feet. Staggered off the back with a 36 for a 67 total, and less enchanted with my Leopards than when I started. :D

Hey man I've got responsibilities here. You'll have to burn until Sunday, or see your family practicioner.
paul, I can't make this afternoon, early round before work tomarrow ? <font color="red">Local stud boy plays Druid this morning and gets humbled ! Four putts out of the car doesn't constitute a warm up ! I fudged the drive/putt on one, for par. bagged a four on 3, missing a 25 footer. the drive on 6 crashed into the big tree in the middle of the fairway, two putted. seven gets a two putt as well :(
Front= 30
The back is where I should have made up ground, BUT, the disc Gods were not favorable this morning ! A good hyzer with the Orc put me with in 15' and i missed it, way to start the back, loser  I then overdrive 11 and really focused on the putt, only to have it bounce out, Blahh. the only fours reported on the back are back to back 14 and 15 respectfully. My driving game could have been better, and my putting, well we wouln't go there :mad:The only real highlight was all most acing hole 4 with a practice drive :D
Front= 30
Back=29
total=59
Lessons learned: eat something before playing from the longs, don't bother playing from the metals, and get a solid warm up...
May I suggest a X-mas tour stop @ The Rock ??? High noon... </font>

<font color="red">HAWK SHOWS 857 WHO HIS DADDY IS YET AGAIN AT DRUID. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>
<font color="green">Suggestion To Include X-Holes Adds To 857's Misery. ;) </font>
857 and I teed it up from the metals today, and at his suggestion included the x-holes. 857 takes an embarassing 4 on #2 after plunking an eight footer. :oI give it back on #3 when 857 threes the hole to my four. 857 then is torn between rolling a Leopard on #4 or throwing a turnover, so he splits the difference and cranks it into the zoo hospital OB. :oCircle five! After #4 we moseyed into the woods to play the first six X-holes. We are even through the first four, but I manage to deuce the five-x :cool:with an Aviar drive then went right over the basket. On six-x 857 hits a tree right off the tee, and then his annie over the zoo fence fails to return. :( Circle six. :oScores after the first six x-holes:
Hawk-20
857-24
Back out on the main drag we resume play at #5 and I pick up a stroke on #6 when 857 hits another tree off the tee and plops into the first road. I Leopard down to the clearing. On #7 I announce that I'm going to Spider up to the basket. 857 announces that it's uphill to which I reply, "I'm manly enough to get it up there" and then promptly sail past the basket by eight feet. Another deuce! :cool:Scores after nine were:
Hawk-27
857-32
On the back nine 857 picks up a stroke on #11 when I four, but I get it back by deucing #12 :cool:with a lovely Spider drive. I was putting with the Omega SuperSoft today which appears to be slightly wider than my Aviar putter, and it loves to glide! It did stay soft in the 26-30 degree temps we were playing in though. At this point 857 announces that he is declining to finish the remaining three x-holes so that he can make it home and get out of going to the gf's parents. Obviously this was merely fear of further x-hole pummeling by your disc golf hero. :DWe both deuce #13 when I park it, and 857 nails a monster downhill 35' putt. :cool:857 then deuces #14 with another impressive downhill putt. He picks up yet another stroke on #15 when I Omega way past the basket for a four. On #18 I park the basket with a DX TeeBird for the final deuce. :)
Final scores were:
Hawk-73(26)
857-81(25)
857 was very impressed with his new Tour card, and he had an excellent suggestion for 2006! :D

somewhere in NC for me.
i haven't run it by rachel yet, but i think we might consider tsunami relief funds as an ice bowl charity (or co-charity at least).
A Noble idea my friend, but lets stick to the format, and take care of the needy right here at home, besides there recieving WORLD relief.

I think Rach has probably already committed our $ to the Food Bank. Your best bet is probably to try and shake us down for additional donations.
Whats the story for this weekend ??? This Junky needs his fix !

It's a new year at an old course.
Saturday-High Noon-Druid. 18 plus the <font color="red">x </font>holes makes for an <font color="red">x</font>ta se<font color="red">x</font>y Tour stop. Afterwards it's Goucher! No really I mean it this time. :D
Did someone say SEXY ?!?! At last my Hero gives me hope, I'll be there to crush you. Did I mention that I'm an X-hole's virgin ? :oPop my cherry big boy  The uniform will be shorts and some tight fitting poly. shirt.

Did I also mention that today marks the beginning of the <font color="red">Maryland Amateur Tour </font> babe challenge? Do you have a <font color="red">Maryland Amateur Tour </font> babe challenge card? Why not? All of the cool kids do! What...you haven't heard of it? Do you live in a cave? :o
<font color="red"> Maryland Amateur Tour Babe Challenge FAQ's </font>
Question: How do I get one?
Answer: See Year Disc Golf Hero.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: It's 100% free.
Q: How does it work?
A: If two babe challenge card holders are playing, then it's <font color="blue"> Go Time! </font> No practice round exceptions, no tourney round exceptions (barring different layouts played) no My planters facitis really hurts today excuses.
Q: Does a tie go to the lower holding babe carder?
A: That's lame you sissy. You play the ties off. Tie breaker format is whatever the tied players agree to. If no agreement can be reached, then it's the standard sudden death from #1. Odd creative tiebreakers are encouraged. Remember our motto:

<font color="orange">SKI MANHANDLES HAWK AT 27 HOLE DRUID TOUR STOP </font>
It was me and the Sexy One out at Druid today throwing from the woods and into the woods courtesy of the x-holes.
On #1 we both opt to be manly and throw putters as Ski goes with his new toy a Champion Aero, and I throw the Aviar-x. Of course I failed to switch my soft putters back to the normal set-up in light of todays glorious 65 degree day. Ski cards the deuce :cool:and we're off. After threeing our way through #4 we enter the x-holes for Ski's first time in the woods. We trade threes and fours on the front six with us exiting the woods tied overall. I take a one stroke lead as Ski fours #5 back on the main course. On #6 we both get down to the landing area with me on the grass and Ski on the road near #7's metal tee. He selects his Rockburn Roc and deuces the hole  from about 140' out. I end up taking a four as the Supersoft goes dead straight and low...again. This was kind of a theme for me on the day. :DScores on the front nine were:
<font color="orange">Ski</font>: 26 (22 x-holes)
<font color="red">Hawk</font>: 28 (21)
On the back nine we traded fours and entered the woods for the remaining three x-holes. On the first hole Ski picks up a stroke as I scramble to save a four. Then real disaster strikes Your Disc Golf Hero as I take a circle seven :o:eek: after landing in the two foot wide creek, and then sailing over the road behind the basket. The match appeared completely over then, but on the last x-hole I manage to three it with two lovely throws, and Ski 857's his way through the woods for a five. :( Unfortunately I throw an incredibly bad drive on #13 and take a five to Ski's three eliminating any hope for the comeback. I add another circle five on #15 as my second shot Leopard lands up in the briar bush behind the evergreens. Ski finished the lesson by deucing #17. :)
Scores on the back were:
<font color="orange">Ski</font>: 27 (11) [86]
<font color="red">Hawk</font>: 32 (14) [95]
We once again failed to make it to Goucher. Tomorrow we return to the homeland of Patapsco at high noon for a round of redemption in the Ski vs. Hawk weekend battle. Also unless Comcast goes out again it will be the first 2005 Babe Card Challenge match. Tell your friends! ;)

are babe tags the same as am tour tgs?
Babe cards are different than Tour cards. Babe cards are numbered and feature two different beauties (Athena and Talia) as opposed to the elite 10 Tour cards featuring the lovely Janelle. Your Tour card stays with you all year for others to envy. Babe cards are designed to be exchanged on the course of play among Tour and non-Tour members. It's a similar concept to one you're familiar with, but to win the prize at the end you aren't forced to attend a non-sanctioned club event.
But to win the prize in the end, you aren't forced to attend a non-sanctioned tour event !

<font color="blue">EVIL TRIUMPHS AT PATAPSCO TOUR STOP </font>
<font color="purple">Sherwood Suffers Humiliating Sweep By The Am's! :D</font>
Three tardy discers and I set off from the tips today for a round in the chilly afternoon. On hole one The Sexy One sails OB :( into the road for a circle five. I manage a three with a spectacular 90' putt for three with the SuperSoft. It was downhill from there. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Ski did redeem himself on #3 when he Rockburn Rocs down to within' two feet of the pin for the deuce! :) On #6 I SuperSoft off the chains for a four. :( On #7 Evil and Sharky match each other drive for drive and land within 7' of the basket. A pair of matching deuces! :D :cool:On #9 The Professor fails to sail over the downed tree and lands in the branches. He gamely goes in and flicks a Flick out for a scramble four. Scores on the front were:
Rich-29
Shark-31
Hawk-32
Ski-32
On #10 Ski goes into the road and takes a circle 5! Didn't we see this already? Then in a competition of manliness Rich and Tim three #11! Shark nearly joins them hitting chains from 60'. Naturally I SuperSoft lamely in for a four. :( On #'s 12 & 13 I slink back into competition picking up two strokes on my seniors. :DThen bad things happen. On #15 Rich Sidewinders down onto the left side of the fairway past the trail. Shark 857's his drive off the tee, and Ski and I sightsee on the right side near the trail. Shark scrambles for a five. I Spider down pin low and 20' left. Ski and Rich get their threes. I SuperSoft up, but hit some trees. :( Then I SuperSoft past the basket. :( Then I SuperSoft off the basket for the 57th time over the past two weekends. :mad:Eating the six, I turn to trudge back up the hill, but the SuperSoft slips out of my hand  and sails clear past the basket down the hill and into the river. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif What a curious and unfortunate turn of events! On #16 Sharky again 857's off the tee and takes a five. Forced back to using a trusty Aviar :) I four as does Sgt. Fling. Rich at this point begins losing his discs. He Pro Orcs up and left, and we spend awhile looking until the Professor finds it. Then he Ch. Valkyries into the hay field, and once again overestimates his own manliness. I believe Mark was the one who found it again. At this point it's Monday morning. On #17 Rich takes the White Pro Orc, and bounces down into the Valley of Strokes. Yet another search and rescue mission with Shark and I tieing for discovery honors. Now it's lunchtime on Monday. Closing out #18 everyone has a shot for an easy three, but The Professor misses an eight footer, and falls behind the two intermediate players on the scoreboard. Scores on the back were:
Rich-32 (61)
Hawk-35 (67)
Ski-35 (67)
Shark-37 (68) :oBack to Rockburn perhaps? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Rich walks off with the #1 Babe Card, and Sharky is sporting #5. Tied; Ski and I, at the Dr.'s suggestion, playoff from #10's blue tee to #9's basket. I Spider to within 10'. Ski's Ch. Classic Roc eats some OB asphalt, slams into the bottom front of a parked SUV and staggers inbounds! Ski putts into a low hanging branch, and then sails past the basket. Sherwood correctly calls my inability to make my 10'er but I do manage to make the three to equal my new Babe Card number.

64 at the rock and second to dfl yesterday (dfl if you don't count pregnant women.
i was happy with my round despite two unfortunate circle sixes :( i was even after my nemesis hole :o(par on hole eight) then took a circle five after going in the creek on nine. got hung up in a tree on 10 for the first circle six, got a four on the tough hole twelve after going through the fence on the right , then three'd hole fourteen up the hill
i crushed a drive that caused oohs and aahs from the group on fifteen. it cleared right of the tree in the short fairway, sailed well across the creek than bounced and rolled into the creek :( took a circle six out of frustration  deuced 17, took a five on 18 long (which i had been three'ing).
in other words, i kicked butt on the holes that normally kick my butt (8, 12, 17 finished par) and **** the bed on the holes that i normally par (9, 10, 15 finished +8).
i think ski and shark had to playoff for the babe tag challenge in the dark (where's mine?).
Ski defends his #4 Babe challenge tag ! After gunning it out with Shark on hole 1 with three's it was decided by the "course contact" to go CTP on hole 1's "curb flex marker" AKA that cheesy fiberglass marker depicting what # hole your on thing ! ANYWAY, Shark led the way and ended up on the tee pad and my sexy self inches from said marker. :DLets hope the weather on Sunday is better than today ! Ski ya.
Details that I failed to mention: Shark and I both shot 26's on the front and 32's on the back. I missed an easy 15' putt on hole 1, and bagged a hand full on 9 natural style :o. The other 5 on 13 started with the drive in the cedar... ! Calvert Monthly on Sunday.

Jan 05 2005, 11:38 AM
of course that was a playoff gfor the 'loser's bracket'!!! i defended my #1 babe card with a smoking 25 on the front, follwed by a billfold 32 on the back. ouch. the hilarity almost ensued on 18 when after crushing a drive into the promised land, i tried an ill advised stingray turnover towards the long pin. it kicked hard off a tree, cleared through the brush and went out towards the teepad of 1. luckily there was a gap, and i calmly snuck my mojo trough for a 4 and the outright win by a stroke over ski and shark....

i don't know what the other card did but it included gump, jim b, pat m, and norm.
so... two days at druid, two rounds, shark has outscored me by three strokes and claims he will beat me for nine more consecutive rounds. the old coot's only chance, slight at that, would be if he hid at rockburn for the next nine rounds. fear not, for i am willing to hunt him out.

i gotta boast about yesterday morning at druid hill!
eight sunday morning regulars played dubs from the metals, x-holes included.
i paired up with TNT regular pete and we smoked everyone else by five strokes, finishing -9 for the 27 holes.
i had one of those jaw dropping putting performances, canning at least five from 50'-100' range. some around big obstacles. my driving was pretty good with a few minor exceptions. pete's driving was consistent and out did some of my best by 10' several times. we were both out driving the rest of the regs most holes
a 63 on those 27 is **** good for two ams.
md21954
Jan 10 2005, 09:33 AM

857,
Okay I'm confused. You shot -9 for 27 holes. Considering that we normally consider par to be a three, then wouldn't 27 holes equal 81, and therefore -9 would be a 72? You're 63 would be 2.3 throws per hole.

I believe Sherwood does the write-ups for those. I'm not doing tourney write ups anymore as they aren't true Tour stops as we don't organize them. Rich and I tied at 109 which would have been I believe fourth in Advanced, and was worth I think 7th in Pro Masters. We were the first of the guys not to ca$h. :D
First round I played with DJ who was smoking, and Mark Lures. Who I don't remember playing with before, but he swears we did. The second round I strolled around with Billy Bob and John Mckee. I won my card by four strokes over B.B. Rich can fill you in on his dates.

you are correct sir. i was overly anxious before my morning coffee.
as for the write up, i was directing my question at mr. sherwood. hmmmmmmmmm... mr. sherwood... that has a nice ring to it. i think we should refer to him as mr. sherwood from here out.
hawkgammon
Jan 10 2005, 01:58 PM
Well I'm sure Mr. Sherwood will provide you that write up in a timely manner down on the minor league bored. Be prepared for an unusually large tale of me as he was in a playoff for the Geezer win as I was departing. Oh I do recall that Glen lost a playoff to Jim M. for open as Jim nails an 80' putt on the second playoff hole from the blues. If you keep nagging more details may resurface.
Oh! Speaking of that Mr. Sherwood is attempting to pawn off temp Paint Branch Pilots bag tags. Apparently he doesn't have the real ones in yet. Remember folks you can get actual Babe Cards yesterday! Also rest assured that I am working on the 2006 cards now, and will be ready to go New Years Day 2006. Can the competition make that claim? I already have 20 designed with each card featuring a different photo. How many times can you look at the same plane image?

Hawk, sorry I had to bail out on the 2nd round of the monthly, but what did you score from the reds? Do I move up in my babe card standings? I shot a 54 - 3 birdies, 3 bogies.
Too bad I left, I heard I had my division by 6 strokes after that red round. :D

you probably would have moved up if you would have stuck around to change cards. since you left before everyone came in, we basically just had to go on without you. i believe you may have beaten hawk in the first round, and the way i shot in the 2nd you would have had a chance. :(

You know I would be up for that. I love the gimmicks. I doubt Mr. Sherwood and 857 would want to play though. I might be Touring on Wednesday as the weather is good, and I need to spend half the day reviewing RFP's for a new contract at home. ;)

1. Injuries are no excuse.
2. I'm not real sure that you can beat Transtrum enough to win the division. Then you have a freshly reinvigorated Mr. Sherwood. to deal with. I would bet against you pulling it off. My goal is to finish fourth for the year. Anything else is gravy.

Jan 12 2005, 11:47 PM
Played Rockburn today where the baskets have been shuffled somewhat. After warming up with the true putters I moseyed out to #1. As I prepared to drive two young men approached the box, and silently witnessed greatness. After ohhing and ahhing as my drive went up the hill and disappeared into the depression the following exchange took place.
Dude #1: Wow that was quite a throw.
Hawk: Yes, thank you.
Dude #2: I'm Jay and this is my buddy Jeff. (Jay was sporting a pink/purple Aviar. I considered taking it by force, but he seemed like a nice chap)
Hawk: Interesting.
Jeff: Do you play hear a lot.
Hawk: Some.
Jay: What's your name. (Extends his hand)
Hawk: (Examines extended hand distastefully) I'm Hawk.
Jeff: Wow...can I have your autograph?
Hawk: No. (walks up the fairway)
So I end up taking a bad four on #1 and then an even worse 5 on #2 as I see how many trees I can hit on the left side of the fairway. A flurry of doinked putts follow as I go deuceless on the round. On #10 I Leopard up the hill and into the fog...apparently past the rocks. Outstanding! A personal best. I mosey up the hill, and can't find the disc! :( As I look for it in the wide open area it should be, I hear some undesirable elements warming up on #18:
Billsteam: When I built this park blah blah blah...
Ski: Outstanding! I am on SexSki fire!
Mr. Sherwood: ching...ching...ching...ching...
Hearing the voice of Ski I think back to the Spider that tried to hide under a log on an x-hole recently, and lo and behold the Leopard is under the big rock! I actually got a three on that sucker finally in the long position. A disappointing series of threes followed. On #15 I am caught by Jeff and Jay. I allow them to accompany me out, and they marvel at my prowess. After fouring #18 long I finish at a disappointing 62. I did notice some skillfully done Skifitti on 18 long. ;) What could have been with made putts!

Mr. Sherwood,
I have reexamined my stack of dyed Ch. Aviars and found not one, but two! at 174g. They are unautographed and pristine. One is a stunning pink with lime green spin circle, and the other has dark green edges, a lighter green center, and then a lavendar, and orange and then a deep purple center, again in the spin pattern. As an added bonus this one has the rainbow stamp that Neal from ZoneDriven knows I covet so much. I am prepared to entertain your opening offers.

And a stalker was born.
In an unrelated matter Christine and several of her colleagues found themselves going out to a club after happy hour last Friday. Coincidentally it turned out to be the infamous Millstream of TNT fame. While no local DG legends were actually present, Christine did report back spotting a brass plaque reading Boyd's Booth. One of the entertainers actually put a dollar down her shirt, so it's a good time, and possibly a money making experience for you the customer.

md21954

as of right now, it's two rounds.
will be a game time decision for any changes, but the weather would have to be severe. no wimps, no whiners afterall... but no idiots either.
depending on who shows up, we could do one round of 27. but that's only if it is a REAL small turnout.

x holes is a mistake, especially in the snow. 27 isn't an awful compromise, but keep it on the main 18.
hawkgammon
Jan 21 2005, 12:40 PM
If we stay on the main 18 for 27 we might as well go around twice. Turnout is probably going to take a hit based on the forecast, and you can play a round at Druid in an hour, so if we're spaced out nicely this should go fairly quickly.
md21954
Jan 21 2005, 01:00 PM
it's going to be a game time decision. i don't trust forecasters more than 6 hrs in advance, but if the current forecast holds, it will likely be one and done so people don't have to drive home in the worst of it. i will check the radar tomorrow morning and make a call on it at the course at 0845 HRS.
rich-- i don't think i've ever seen you play the x-holes you should try them. they're playing great.
i wouldn't do the x-holes unless it was a horrid low turnout and everyone was game.
md21954
Jan 21 2005, 01:02 PM

you can play a casual round in an hour, but a tourney round in icy conditions is another thing.

Great victory paul that's really what it is so I will just have to accept my defeat in the 10 in a row challenge. :(
The turney was a lot of fun for me and just about every one there I am sure. I played with the other Paul L and Spinjammer. Jim had a drive that nicked into the deep woods on 5 where he saved his three with a roller outshot that shot out at 90 degrees then did a 90 degree turn up the hill at the appropriate time and a shortish putt, on 10 he ran it by a bit on his long deuce bid and missed the 23 foot come back putt for a bogey, he missed maybe three drives, quite a litany of mistakes but he managed an eleven down while everyone else was in the fiftes except hawk. I had one bird and two bogeys on the front and back for my 56 and tie with dr evil for last masters cash. Jim kept saying I was using my sidewinder way too much, but I could not stop throwing it and made a nice putt on 17 for a birdy because I swore the SW drive was plenty good enough /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Anyway sorry for the ramble on, just seems like a nice day to settle in and reminisce....

I'm not sure most of us could Leopard into #3's fairway from #2's metal tee if we tried. As usual Mr. Bi-Polar started talking smack as he pulled ahead on the card in a meaningless one round Ice Bowl. We laugh at your giddiness.

yeah, i was just getting warmed up after one round. talk your smack after a pdga event paul, not a one round casual snow golf event. i think i am undefeated in pdga events vs. paul, except for once whne he managed to tie me i think... :D

if you'd like to get the facts straight hawk, which i'm certain you should, please recall that i was laughing at my drive as well immediately off the tee.
it was when you were loudly pointing to another group that my lie was my drive DURING MY RUN UP that i took offense. don't bring SW into it. it was all you. you had done the same thing on the first tee and i know you even have a habit of not keeping your mouth shut during play at sanctioned events as well, so i warned you (as you pointed out, half mockingly).
btw... you sound mighty bitter for losing in such an unworthy event for your 892 disc golf prowess. i think you're just ****** because i would have cashed in your div.
i know we all had fun during the round. i guess being snowed in allowed you to stew over defeat for a while. i'm going to sweep you in '05 ice bowls.

no excuses. paul played well and demonstrated his superior knowledge of the course. plus i think the cold kept him from fully closing his grip and shanking his drives :D

Mr. Sherwood,
No excuses were offered. Comments were made after 857 did his usual smack job. Unfortunately 857 continues to try and live in the past where he and I were competing for the same thing. Things have now changed, and he's thrashing about looking for a DG existence.

ski 51 (?)
jim b 54
paul 56
s joe (???)
i had 5 (FIVE) crazy sweet spot putts hit chains, basket, then ground. it was uncanny. i guess i'll put my bag down next time. i did try a lot of promethean routes. some worked, some didn't, but it was a fun round.
ski earned the #2 babe challenge card, i have the #4.
likely off to the rock today, three.
Good Dr. , the "crushing" was in reference to said Am Tour @ Druid. But I will give YOU a handicap if you need one !

oh, i don't need one. just saw you were offering. so how about straight up at the chili bowl for a disc of choice?
Your on tough guy ! Scraight up in the hizzle. Hopefully the warming trend that the weather geeks are calling for will happen, and the snow will not be a factor... Who's chili will be the hottest ? :p
It pains me to be stuck in this "shack" while everyone is out huck'in plastic and hav'in good timez. Hopes to make up for it the next few weekends. :D:cool::D:cool:
2138 HRS, and still no write up, very DISappointing.

ok, from my memory, 27 hearty souls showed up to get their disc golf fix. jg won pro , t2 won masters with myself, boyce , sherwood and charlie george following(omigod, charlie parker cashed!?!?) , rhonda won her duel with the lady, and not sure which ams won, but i know they looked like they had fun. i'm sure more detailed results will be available soon. tees were tough and there were several horror stories of discs sliding back to and past there owners after a throw! some of the tees were a bit sketchy, but not too bad overall. over 325$ were raised for the food bank i believe.

It wasn't cold as there was no wind. Several people started stripping layers off as the round progressed. Unfortunately these were disc golfers so the eroticism level was rather low. Tees were slippery, the fairways were only slightly better, and we might have been the first players out there as the practice area was undisturbed from last weekends snow. Discs were sledding away. Eric was in the group in front of mine, and he took a horrific 12 on #15 when he went sliding down the hill towards the river behind the basket. Apparently it took him awhile to clamber back up the hill. :mad:I almost joined his misery when I approached and nearly went sleding down the hill also. A friendly tree saved me. On #17 I Leoparded way right on purpose to be safe, and Dean goes, "Nice placement." Terry had gone down into the valley on his second shot, and while looking for his I notice something round and purple below him.
H: Terry is that a disc?
T: Yeah.
H: Is that my purple Leopard?
T: 'Fraid so.
H: How did that happen?
We're now watching Smokin' take his second or third shot, and he hits a tree, and the disc flips onto it's top and comes sliding down the hill, then turns left and starts sleding down the valley in the general direction of the river. Terry and I are watching this in horrified amusement. Then we knew what happened to my Leopard.

I made a last minute decision to go out and shoot Rockburn in the snow today. It was still coming down when I marched in from the access road. A couple of missed putts left me eating a 32 on the front. The wheels really started coming off on the back where on #11 I drove a Blue TeeBird into the rough on the right side of the fairway. It was never found so a circle five for me. Another collection of 3's and 4's on the back for a 66 total. All in all it was much easier going that at Patapsco on Saturday.
