i am considering using a roc also if the aviars are not big bead! we'll see, though with one disc it pretty much evens it out alot as we saw at rockburn. might be different at a small course like calvert.

Jun 06 2004, 11:30 AM
If it was raining like it was in my neck of the woodz yesterday, all i can say is: HARDCORE.

<font color="green">RICH "DR. EVIL" MYERS WINS GOOD TIMES ONE DISC TOUR STOP! </font>

<font color="orange">Calvert Not Kinder To Ski :D </font>

14 players saddled up and headed out for a lightweight round from the red tees. Only 12 players actually opted to have their scores recorded as the two young men in our group (Rich, Tom and I)declined to be a part of recorded history. We only recorded the disc choices of those participating in the tag match as the non-taggers disappeared on us quickly post match. Final scores were:

Rich (Roc)-48
Shark (Cobra)-50
Chris B. (Cobra)-53
Tom P. (Roc)-55
Naved-55
SilverWolf (Aviar)-56
Hawk (Aviar)-56
Kirk-58
Neil (Cobra)-59
Mark (Roc)-60
Will L.-62
Ski (Aviar)-63  :o
Not Rockburn Boyd-?
His Long Haired Brother-?

On the plus side I'm confident Ski outshot our two adolescent players. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Playing with a hot pink Roc ;) Rich started on #1 with a deuce, and followed that up with another deuce on #2. :cool:Coming off a bogey on #2 Tom put his drive on #3 into the ground, and angrily kicked his bag. :oOur two young wards seemed a little taken aback by this conduct. Rich continued his hot play by deucing #'s 8 &amp; 9 with parked drives. At the turn one of the youths whispered to the other, "Isn't that guy in the Maryland hat that dude from Baywatch?" To which the other replied, "Naw that's Tom Jones. My mom has his records."

Meanwhile the Ski group (Shark, SilverWolf and "Kirk") started on #10. Shark deuced #10, and Ski went 5-4-5 on holes 13-15 without a circle. :o

The third group made up of Neil, Chris, Mark, Naved &amp; Will I believe started on #8 as the appeared to finish on #7. Neil deuced #14, Chris #10, Mark #14, Naveed was hot deucing #'s 8, 9, 13, 14 &amp; 16, :cool:but took a circle five on #12. :(

After each groups first nine, scores were:
Rich-23
Naveed-24
Neil-26
Chris-26
Shark-27
Mark-27
SilverWolf-27
Hawk-28
Tom-29
Will-29
Kirk-32
Ski-33 :(

On the back nine Rich completed his bogey free round and also deuced #'s 12 &amp; 15. Tom deuced the same two holes, but took a circle 4 on #17 when his forehand roller went into the skanky creek.

Shark started to get hot on the front nine deucing #'s 2, 4, 6 &amp; 9. :cool:SilverWolf deuced #'s 2 &amp; 8, but missed the mandos on #'s 1 &amp; 6 eating circle fives both times. :oKirk deuced #6. :)

In the third group Neil deuced #5. Chris deuced #'s 1 &amp; 2. The wheels came off for Naveed on #4 as he took a circle six. Will also took a circle six on #4, and Neil took a straight six on that hole. I wonder what happend to those three there?

Scores for the second nine:
Shark-23
Rich-25
Tom-26
Kirk-26
Chris-27
Hawk-28
SilverWolf-29
Ski-30
Naveed-31
Neil-33
Mark-33
Will-33

Good Times abounded for all, and two young boys got to spend quality time with disc golf's #1 sex symbol and hero. :cool:More one disc challenges to come at future Tour stops! :)

I don't think a lost disc counts. Also where's your supersoft and other missing discs I've seen on the cart? I know there's been a QJLS on there recently. That's only 12 molds. :D Though it beats Sherwood by one. :D

Dick
Jun 07 2004, 12:10 PM
some are swap outs. also i forgot the 175 apx swirlie, which i replaced the omega ss with for the summer. usually i only carry 13-14 discs on the cart, and 4-6 of them are aviar or roc molds.

Jun 07 2004, 04:11 PM
Ski's inventory:
Two J.K. Aviars 172, 175
2004 USDGC Roc 169( pearl,claws stamp )

Jun 07 2004, 04:20 PM

Darn right you shouldn't have given it to him... where were you two Halloweens ago, when I put Ted's Glow Dragonfly in the pond on #27? I searched the world over to find a replacement- and now I find out my very own doubles partner had one in his trunk the whole time!?!?!? How could you hold out on me like that? You're grounded. No breasticle flashes for you for the rest of the summer... :p

Jun 08 2004, 10:08 AM
The fact that a bird **** on your putter is quite indicative- surely you must realize that even Mother Nature thinks you shouldn't be throwing that disc! ;)

The fact that you choose to see that it's shaped like a basket- well, clearly shows that your perceptions are somewhat skewed... though we already knew that- after all, you are still under the misguided impression that you are a better player than Hawk or myself! :D

ahhh, but you see... it happened mid-flight. i was certain the disc was high and left, then said incident occured and it sent the disc into the basket! i haven't missed a putt since

Yesterday afternoon at 1620 this building and surrounding area lost all power. While assessing the situation on the floor below us I was in the back stairwell, and I heard security detaining someone down on the lobby level landing. I'm not sure who exactly it was, but I did hear Mason from security ask, "What are these wooden discs?"

fine:
ski 24 24 48
rich 27 23 50

another thing about kinder, it is a putter's dream. all holes are reachable, and usually you have a putt even if it is sometimes long. or you better be an accurate driver. my approach game is taken out of the equation, since a 3 is not scoring. i'd rate it slightly easier than calvert from the reds.

hawkgammon
Jun 10 2004, 07:13 AM
Well, he beat me out there by four (see thread page 69 :Dfor the recap) and now you by two. This embarassment wouldn't have happened if you hadn't spazzed out after your pink disc victory last weekend. I guess I better start scrounging the change together to get back in the gate. All this for a double digit tag?

Sharky
Jun 10 2004, 09:50 AM
I may have to FLASH by there to get the job done :D
Got a couple in at 170, orange, had to throw one at Calvert this morning to see what the buzz was all about. Total Orc knock off but a little less over stable. Intriguing, it seems to be a tad longer AND easier to keep straight, perhaps it is just a case of "rattling the bones" but it does seem to be a small but noticable evolutionary disc developement.

Jun 10 2004, 04:40 PM

Speaking of MANLY, Ski defends his lucky 13 tag again today "outside his box". Patapsco was the venue. After an obviously grueling work party this morning, five happy disc golfers inbark in a 4 and a half hour tour from the PRO tees. We had the co. of Mr. J. Meyers for the 1st four holes, he played with a stable putter, because he can :) No dueces were noted i believe, i remember hitting a huge drive on 14, but only getting rim on the putt :( Girlie had a few 3's that could be called dueces in her book  but no really, she's got game. Neil hit a sweet three stroke on 15 to steal the box. Which lead to 16 and a lot of looking around for disc's in some mighty high grass :( Hole 12 was a suprise, as no one new that it had been moved back to the long. And that cost most a stroke. Hawk proved to be quite an advisary today, good round Mr., lets do it again real soon :DThanks to all, good company and G.T.'s

<font color="orange">SKI HOLDS OFF HAWK FOR POST PATAPSCO WORKDAY TOUR STOP WIN </font>

<font color="blue">Neil Edges Randy O For Third </font>

After a somewhat disorganized and mildly productive three hour work session five of us ventured out to play a round from the blue tees. Most of the baskets are in the long positions at this point, so it was a long slow four hour round. The grass is only real bad on #'s 12 &amp; 16, but you can spend a good 20 minutes having five players looking for a disc. The mandos are still in need of remarking, as are the drop zones. Hole #8 looks spectacular though. Many tees are in need of a freshening as well. It looks like Dr. Evil is going to be spending the next two weeks out there around the clock. :D

Final scores were:
Ski-70
Hawk-72
Neil-85
Randy O-86
Lindsay-90

Shockingly there were no deuces! :DNo-Spin played the first four holes with us using only a putter, and he got a three on #3 doing this! :cool:He declined to participate for the entire round as he intends to go Dub hunting tomorrow. Low lights of the round included "Missed Mando" Neil going 4-3 on the courses seven mandos. He missed #'s 3, 9 &amp; 13. Lindsay joined the party by missing the mando on #15.

Tim "The Worm Hunter" Minefski was entertaining to watch as he searched every stump bottom for snacks to feed to his box turtle back at the Ski Lodge.

Meanwhile everyone's favorite orange player was smooth from the start. We tied through the first four holes until I went lumberjack off the tee on #5. Ski picks up two strokes there, and one more on #6. Then Ski lumberjacks on #8 and gives another one up on #9.

Scores after the front nine were:
Ski-34
Hawk-35
Neil-40
Lindsay-44
Randy O-45

On #10 I picked up two stokes on Ski to take the lead in the quest for supremacy and the #13 tag. Ski ties it back up on #12. Then we see sawed back and forth with me Bluting the chance to pick up two strokes by missing an 11' putt for three on #15. We both staggered home the final three holes with Ski winning the back by a similar one stroke margin as he did on the front.

Scores on the back nine were:
Ski-36
Hawk-37
Randy O-41
Neil-45
Lindsay-46

Everyone was rather gassed at the end.

Tomorrows Tour stop is a two rounder (18 holes total) at Goucher at high noon for anyone not playing a club event or the Cracktown.

<font color="red"> HAWK DEFEATS PAUL IN ONE ON ONE STEEL CAGE TOUR STOP AT GOUCHER /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>

<font color="pink">Paul Chokes As Hawk Storms From Behind To Win The #15 Tag ;) </font>

As the tag world spins out of control with Ski at #13 and myself at #15, Paul today was unable to do what Ski did so successfully yesterday...stave off a late rally by me. :DWe went around twice at well maintained Goucher.

Final scores were:
Hawk-55
Paul-56

Paul arrived trumpeting his success at prying the #15 tag from Ras Disc yesterday at Druid. He described his putting as "on fire". After the usual blather from him about kicking parts of my anatomy we set off.

We three'd our way through the first four holes with me once again missing a very makeable deuce putt on #2. :mad:On #5 Paul went left toward the building taking a four. :( He got that stroke back on #7 when I went across the road and came up short on my approach shot for a four. :( Paul took a two stroke lead on #9 with a great roller that came to a rest less than 10' from the basket for an easy deuce! :) I took a four on that hole as my turnover drive solidly hit a tree before the wetland.

After nine holes we were at:
Paul-27
Hawk-29

Paul stretches the lead to three strokes as we played #10. I took a little off my drive as my first go at this hole saw me sailing all the way to #2's tee. That was a mistake, and ended up stalling out short and to the left. Paul's flick shot was dead on, and he got his second deuce in a row, :D while I mad a nice par saving long putt. On #12 we ended up two feet apart with awkward putts into the brush before the basket. Paul missed his deuce putt, and I made mine :) utlizing the Service straddle putt. Thanks to the big guy for the lessons. ;) Now ahead by two Paul flicks his drive on #13 into a tree and bounces into the brush on the right. I go OB into the road costing myself an opportunity to pick up a stroke. :( Circle four to Pauls four. On #14 Paul again goes left...snug up against the building. My drive is right at the basket, but hits the top of the hill, and disappears! Paul approaches nicely for a three, and it turns out my disc caught an edge and rolled downhill 5' past the basket. Another deuce, and now Paul's lead has dwindled to one. :DAt #16 Paul goes across the road and has a middle range putt for his three. He yanks it, and takes a four. :mad:Match tied! :D On #17 Paul's roller goes awry, and short as does my drive. I'm out, and my putter approach crashes chains, but plops to the ground briefly sending Paul to the brink of cardiac arrest. Still tied we go to #18. Paul is thinking he's safe with the tag at least, and we might be heading for the first ever Tour stop playoff. This time I manage to miss the tree, but turn the Leopard over too far, and it turns into a bouncer and lands 5' behind the wetland. Paul tries to recreate his spectacular roller drive from #9, but things go horribly awry and the disc goes hard left and tucks itself on the hill between basket one and the tennis court. We approach, and I come up shorter. Steeling my nerves I sink the long putt for three while Paul yanks his closer putt and takes another four. :mad:Match and tag lost! :o

Scores on the back nine were:
Hawk-26
Paul-29

I will play in the Calvert Open for PDGA points and ratings reasons, not for your club!
Monthlys, not anymore, and thanks to all who have a part in my decision!
Since doubles is Flyer related i guess i will not be there either!

And last, but not least, this tag that some of you can't sleep over!
I'm just going to give it back, then all you F@#king whine babies can ridicule someone else!I don't want any part of it as i grew up along time ago!!!!

<font color="blue">GLEN CRUISES TO EASY DRUID TOUR STOP VICTORY </font>

<font color="orange">SexSki Takes Second </font>

Only five discers showed for the first official "Teenagers Tag Match". Final scores from the metals were:

Glen-51
Ski-54
Rich-56
Shark-59
Hawk-60

Things started off roughly as Shark takes a four on #1 with the dreaded par putt roll back down the hill. Ski &amp; Rich both deuced it. Then I parked #2 and botched the 12' putt. On #3 I Rhynoed poorly and took a four after a decent drive. Goodbye Rhyno. This is where Glen woke up and deuced #'s 4 &amp; 5. Shark also deuced #5. Then disaster struck as Glen's Aviar drive on #6 disappeared even with my sharpshooter spotting. Circle six. :oOn #8 Ski licked my Monster and deuced the hole. He followed that up by deucing #9 as Glen did. Ski then wanted to lick more of my discs, but I wouldn't allow it.

Scores at the turn were:
Ski-25
Rich-27
Glen-27
Shark-28
Hawk-29

On the back nine everyones old friend the wind showed up. Glen continued his rally deucing #10. He then deuced #13 and #15. Meanwhile Rich, Shark and I are racking up the fours while Ski strings some threes together. Rich and Glen both deuced #17, and Rich followed that up by also closing out #18 with another two. He also owes me $1 as he doubted I could muscle the Monster as far as I could. :cool:Who's your daddy Dr. Evil?

Scores on the back nine were:
Glen-24
Ski-29
Rich-29
Shark-31
Hawk-31

I ended up walking away with the #78 tag as Mark was high tag with some confederate #40 that someone had lost. As usual I refused confederate money, so Mark ponied up the legitimate latest tag.

Tomorrow's tour stop is at the first ever Codorus PDGA tourney.

Also we've decided to officially boycott Patapsco after the Picnic is concluded until the park decides to give us mowing equal to the cumulative $2 we all pay. Perhaps a drop in funds will get their attention. Therefore the Tour is now looking for a new official home course. Applications will be taken here until July 4th at 2200.

<font color="green">Codorus Report </font>

Much better experience than when we were up there Stealing the Love courtesy of Mr. Felty. Nice calm day with only the hint of a breeze. Jay did an awesome job of conditioning the course. Everything was marked at a level I have never seen. You could never have played there and made your way around the maze. They had directional arrows attached to the poles under the baskets, as well as arrows spraypainted on the grass directing you to the next pro and am tees. The baskets all had flags on them, some of which were 10 feet high so you could see them from the tee. Even the improvised holes where simple to navigate yet diabolical at the same time. It was immaculate. The other interesting thing was the number of people about picnicing etc., and there was no conflict at all. Very peaceful.

Pat Pitts won the Open division over Jake Azato in a one hole playoff.

DeeJay beat local Gump in Advanced on the second playoff hole as DJ nailed a deuce putt after a nice drive. Deebo finished 6th in Advanced, Rich 7th, and I was 13th out of 17. Though I could have placed second in Intermediate. :D

Rich and I played with two young lads in the first round. Rich was driving poorly in his estimation, and I was just threeing my way around. This was on the red course which is the more open of the two courses at Codorus. We finished up the red course with Rich at 54 and me at 57. Highlights of that round include me outdriving Rich on #12 and deucing the hole. He was displeased at this occurence. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I did give it back by taking an embarassing five on the longest hole of the red course. I crushed the drive, but then botched things horribly. On one of the lake holes young Matt Myers (no relation to Dr. Evil) drove into the lake, then stripped down to his boxers and dove into the lake! He did recover the disc. Rich also continued the weekends theme of horrific socks as he wore some bizarre green ones with his tan shorts, and red t-shirt. Yesterday Sherwood was sporting purple socks at the Druid Tour stop. Am I the only Tour member with a sense of fashion?

In the second round Rich was behind my group due to his three stroke edge in round one. The second round was on the blue course, and this is the more technical wooded section. I ended up carding 64 to Rich's 61. I was playing with a couple of local young men, and a gentleman named Ralph who had an interesting accent, and might have been a quaker! :) The media was out in full force hearing of the Tour coming to town. A reporter twice tried to interrupt our play in round one, and a photographer was awaiting us on #8 on the blue course in the second round. He photographed my drive after I asked if he was ready, then I Spidered down to within 10' of the basket. The boys were very impressed that I performed so well under the media spotlight, and I explained to them that it's all part of being a Disc Golf Hero. They were also amazed that I wasn't in my early 30's as I answered a few routine questions from the papparazi. The rest of the round was fairly uneventful other than my managing to stick my Beast up in a tree limb with no leaves on it, merely twig level branches. Very unpleasant after crushing the drive.

Clint as always had all the plastic anyone could want including dyed Pro Classic Rocs, and the newest Pro Sharks and Birdies. Going for the plastic alone is worth the trip as every AM got their disc as usual, and anyone lacking plastic, or as in Rich's case self discipline, can really go to town. After the tournament Rich and I conducted a clinic for the Junior winner, and this resulted in me winning $5 off of Rich in a driving distance competition.

Great tournament, great courses, and great TDing by Jay and Clint. Any future PDGA event at Codorus is a must attend.

hawk, you forgot to mention what happened 'after' you spidered to 10 feet away!
codorus was a blast, i wasn't able to keep my concentration due to some crazy things, like leaving my ce valk laying in the field hole after missing a 25 footer, and hearing some crazy stories about huge muskies in the lake that have eaten 3 dogs this year! poor doggies!
i think i have decided to trim down my bag, i have it down to 4 molds(apx swirl, roc, valk, beast) and 2 specials(firebird, stingray) for rollers. not sure if the beast is stable enough to replace my z-xs i lost or tbird, but i got a heavier one that seems much more stable.

quick paw paw recap...
i played like poo, but probably (hopefully) at or above my rating. started hot, then was attacked by wasps on the third hole. strung 3 sixes in a row after that, no sevens or eights, but one nine (ouch). BB went for an unintended swim in pond scum. a dude in my group fell off a cliff and almost killed himself.

plenty of fun though. paw paw is always good times.

1. Rich is referencing my missed putt after the media spotlight dimmed.

2. Rich is also talking about the hole on which I out drove him, and made my lone deuce, and he took a three. So rattled he left his prized CE Valk on the gound. Again kids mark with a mini, put disc in bag, then putt! For the next six holes Rich queried any group who came up behind us, or we passed heading back with, "Did you see my disc laying in the field?" He got two affirmatives, and eventually loped back for the disc.

3. Our tattooed playing partner in round one kept telling us that Codorus Lake (officially Lake Marburg) is man made, and there is a flooded town underneath it. There are homes, and barns and silos down there, and these fish (muskies [sp?]) have grown to 11' and have pulled down three golden lab puppies swimming in the lake so far this year. Rich and I both scoffed at this, as an urban legend, but he insisted that we, "Could read all about it at the ranger station." We forgot to do this as we had collected our sunburns and were anxious to roll out. I did find this though...

HistoryThe impoundment of Codorus Creek is the result of a cooperative project between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the P. H. Glatfelter Paper Company of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. This undertaking is the first of its kind in the Commonwealth and is designed to serve the water supply needs of a private industry and the town of Spring Grove, and to provide a public recreation area.

The P. H. Glatfelter Company paid approximately $5.5 million to construct an earth fill dam, 109 feet high, 1,690 feet long and 750 feet thick. The dam itself is on Glatfelter property and is not owned by the park. The gates at the dam were closed to impound water in December 1966. The Commonwealth acquired the park land under the “Project 70” land acquisition program during 1965-1966. Originally the park was known as Codorus Creek State Park. Lake Marburg is named for the small community of Marburg that is covered by the lake.

The design and construction of the park facilities were funded by the “Project 500” bond program and the federal government’s Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The main launching area, off of Sinsheim Road, was the first project in Pennsylvania completed for public use under the “Project 500” Program. This lighted facility, open 24 hours a day, year-round, was dedicated for use on May 9, 1970.

The MD AM Tour extended took a trip to check out Tyler State Park just north of Philadelphia, PA for the Great Eastern AM Cup event run by TD Matt Ott and the Bucks County Disc Golf Alliance. It was a good event - the largest AM event in our area and there were 72 players there for the one day B tier. The lunch break was a little longer than expected and the ceremony ended a bit late for my taste, but overall it was a well run event and I will certainly go back to Tyler again - great course!

DJ and I made the trip up to Paul W.'s home Friday night to cut down the Saturday AM driving time. Thanks Paul for putting us up! We practiced our putting in the back yard with Phil D. and Mica - Paul was reigning supreme in the putt-off.

Saturday AM it was rise and shine with the birds and a 2 hour drive from Harrisburg to just north of Philly - not too bad a commute. DJ and I had never seen the course and wanted to get some practice in. I went off on my own to put my game face on and DJ warmed up with Phil D. Well, on hole 19 DJ threw his prized glo ROC into the high grass and it was declared lost pre-tourney. Boo-Hoo said DJ.

Well, DJ boo-hoo'd himself into letting me beat him in the first round 72 to 77 :D... but he found the prized glo roc during the lunch break /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif and wiped the floor with me in the second...

As I mentioned I had never played Tyler before, but I must say the course was in beautiful condition - very clean and the holes are well played in (great job Joe Mela and crew!). The course has a total of 27 holes: 9 straight, 9 left and 9 right. We played 2 rounds of 19 with some different holes each round to play all 27. There were some holes that were combined too. We played #4 to #5's basket and the same with #13-14. These holes were definitely par 5 holes and I survivied them through the weekend at +1 .

After the first round I was in the lead by 2 strokes over the next Adv. lady and 5 strokes over DJ... Once DJ found his ROC my dreams of taking home the #1 tag were over, but I did manage to take home First Place in my division!

MD AM Tour Extended was rated a success by all those attending :D. Thank you for your attention ;).

Let's talk about customer service.

I recently joined the Disc Golf Club of Northern Virginia, and since I'm not down there all that often President Tommy Donelson called me and asked if I wanted the stuff mailed. I said yes, and then things got lost in the shuffle of life. Well I sent a query email to Tommy last Wednesday, and he apologized and said the check was in the mail. Well tonight right after I got home from the gym, there's a knock on the door, and it's Tommy personally delivering my booty! He was apologetic for the delay, and I was floored at his willingness to hump out here to deliver the membership stuff in person. Kudos to Tommy and the DGCNV. :)

regarding DGCNV--- just take a look at their web page (http://www.dgcnv.org/). it almost makes me want to join. one might learn something from their detail of focus. click on membership, and they tell you why you should join-- and it goes beyond the no brainer, obvious "promote the sport in our area" rhetoric. they have a few goals (including one specific new course) that are detailed and attempt to outline how membership will enable you to help out. it ain't rocket science, just something close to a mission statement and defined objectives. it makes me feel like i wouldn't be throwing my $$$ into a baby pool of hungry pirhanas w/ competing interests.

<font color="red">HAWK WINS HANDICAP TOUR STOP AT PATAPSCO </font>

<font color="green">Rich Edges Glen For Second...Of Three :D </font>

After watching a guy running a big tractor around the back nine, and leading a couple of weed wackers around the course, and painting and installing some new mando arrows, and touching up drop zones, and moving baskets to the "c" pins, three of us played a round. No Spin played along for the first nine with some assorted discs from his work van.

Glen was anxious to play the blues to "c" while Rich and I were too tired to do that, so Glen played blue, and Rich and I played red. Glen started the day with #13 and left with #40.

Final Scores Were:
Hawk-70
Rich-71
Glen-72

Needless to say there were no deuces. The few highlights were Rich's side arm approach/putt on #2 that went in for a three :), and my anhyzer putt down the hill from the woods on #13 that went in for a three.. Glen drove very well the entire round often matching or surpassing our drives from the short tees, but his putting was not up to his standards. For example Glen put his drive on #15 past the basket, but ended up taking a five. Other lowlights include me taking a six on #9, and smoothly following that up with a circle 5 on #10. Rich did the same on #'s 9 & 10, but flopped the five and the six, and managed to do it without a circle. Also Rich took his shirt off on #12 and finished the round topless. Now there's an avatar waiting to happen! :o

After walking the course three times today between work and play, we've decided to pass on the Shag tourney tomorrow, and have a simple round of 18 Tour stop at Goucher tomorrow at high noon.

<font color="blue">SHARK EDGES OUT HAWK AT GOUCHER STOP </font>

<font color="red"> First Lost Tour Disc At Goucher As I Put One On The Roof</font>

Four of us played twice around today at hign noon. Driving up I thought of playing one with the bag, and then the second nine with one disc, but this was met with much whining from Sherwood. I could have stuck it to him, but I opted to be generous, and relent as I hadn't posted that info last night.

Final Scores Were:
Mark-54
Hawk-55
Rich-57
Tom-58

Mark got the first deuce of the day by nailing a long approach into the basket on #5 from the side of the building. Coming back up the hill, I put my drive on the roof of said building, but managed to make a long uphill putt to salvage the circle four. On the same hole Tom said I'd better hope I don't miss and roll down the hill, and then Tom proceeds to miss and roll back down the hill for a five! :oTom then ran into some trouble on #7 when his drive landed in the road for a circle four. Tom was sidearming all his drives, and had some really impressive ones on #4, but his usually reliable putting was rusty. Tom and I both deuced #9.

Scores at the turn were:
Shark-26
Rich-27
Hawk-29
Tom-30

On the "back" nine I stayed hot deucing #'s 10 & 11 with great drives. Tom deuced #12 with almost the same drive from the first half, but this time it crashed into the circle around the pin for a two. Meanwhile Sherwood goes into the road on #13 for a circle four. Mark pulls the match out with a deuce on #18 avoiding the first Tour stop playoff.

Scores the second time around were:
Hawk-26
Shark-28
Tom-28
Rich-30

We'll have a playoff eventually.

I agree Rich, the write up was a bit lack luster considering the usual bang up job, seems that hawk is a tad off his game but his trip to the library bodes well /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

oh yeah and hawk has left paul far behind, true that!

Sorry about the write up boys, but I was a bit rushed for time last evening. Rich's shot was probably the most entertaining of several thrown by the group.

Don't forget Mark's quote either,

Hawk's almost become a worthy adversary.

The MD AM Tour Extended took a trip up to The Burgh for the 2004 American Express Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open this past weekend.

Knob Hill certainly lives up to it's name and doesn't dissapoint those looking for an up and down course. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif The PRO and AM flight format is one that leaves a bit to be desired, but it serves it's purpose at the PFDO and hopefully is helping to prepare me for the Worlds - it's difficult to play on a course cold because you start immediately after the PROs finish (and sometimes when they haven't finished yet like in the 3rd round) and really only have practice baskets to warm up on or a field to drive in - and the long wait between rounds is a challenge too.

On Saturday, I chose to walk around during the pro flights and observe some great golf - I was able to maintain great focus throughout the pro flights - too bad that focus left me while I was playing /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Saturday was marked by my very poor play - shooting a 66 on the easiest of layouts, white to A, and an 81 on the hardest layout I played which was white to C (only the pro divisions played the blue/pro tees THANK GOD!). My combined score of 147 for day one placed me firmly in last place in my division of 4 - 16 strokes off the lead, 10 from second and 5 from third /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

I decided to rest during the first pro flight on Sunday and got some really good napping in while watching the pro cards play through hole 17. I felt fresh and ready to do some damage Sunday morning and shot a smoking 63 which was enought to catapault me into 2nd place! Still 13 strokes off Monica who was in first and with only 2 of us allowed to play in the final round (although the event booklet in everyones player's pack said that 4 ppl from EACH divsion would play the final round  anyway - the tee time for the final round was 15 minutes after we turned in our round 3 card and with the other 2 ladies not being invited to play and no break time available to rest and eat...) Monica and I decided to call it off and leave the scores final after round 3.

Monica played solid good golf all weekend long and I wish her many congrats on her WIN! :D

I had to leave the awards ceremony early to make the 4.5 hour drive home so I do not have reports back on how the rest of the MD AM Crew faired - hopefully the scores will be posted soon.

Next stop is the 2004 Patapsco Picnic, July 3 & 4 at the McKeldin Area of Patapsco Valley State Park where I will be donating to the PRO Women's purse and challenging Hawk for his Worlds Bag Tag :D.

I went out and played, as the Professor and I like to say the tips ;), blue to all "c" pins at Paul's best course today. Shot a 58 through the first 15 holes. Things went horribly awry on the last three though. I did make a 42' Mark putt on #5 to "save" a five. I almost missed the mando near the red tee after an unfavorable kick. I missed three other putts chinging metal. The park was deserted which made playing kind of weird.

Rich your report is on the Patapsco thread.

Wow, that's a red tee score with the current layout. In the long to long layout anything in the 70's is acceptable with 76 a good score. (Just setting the benchmark for you AM gladiators.)

I went out to Goucher today to hunt for these white pegged alternate tees to make the nine 18. I found seven of them.

#1 is about 25' to the left of the current pad.

#2 is on top of the hill left of the current pad near the corner of the tennis court.

#3 is straight up the hill towards the parking lot from the basket.

#4

#5 is across the street in the non :DOB grass area.

#6

#7 On top of the hill right next to basket #6.

#8 is also across the street in the non ;) OB grass area.

#9 is about 25' back and to the right of the current pad.

Each alternate tee is marked with white pegs that are maybe 1" above the ground. The surrounding ground is also white for now. There are also orange ribbons tied to the stakes. I had some orange flags on wire stakes from Dr. Evil's mowing project that I had picked up at Patapsco yesterday, so I added these to help people find the markers. It took a good hour of sauntering around to track them all down, and I never found two of them. Enjoy!

<font color="red">HAWKGAMMON </font> CRUSHES <font color="pink">MD21954 </font> AT DRUID TOUR STOP

Paul's Home Course No Help In Bloodbath

Paul called me out today on what was supposed to be a non-throwing day for me to play a round at Druid. When I arrived Paul was attempting to kill a blue Panther to make it a roller to replace the one he lost at Patapsco yesterday when he managed to beat his girlfriend. I arrived toting a bag of unthrown Leopards to see what they could do. We elected to play from the woods as that is the schedule for TNT tomorrow night.

The Final Score Was:
Hawk-59
Paul-67

I opened up the match by placing a Leopard ten feet from #1. Paul yanked his drive to the right. I made the deuce putt, and Paul took a three. At that point the match was won. I went on to deuce #'s 4 & 5 on the front nine. Scores after nine were:

Hawk-26
Paul-31

On the backside things slowed down for both of us with no deuces recorded. #14 gave both of us major trouble as I missed the mando taking a circle five to Paul's straight six. Then on #15 Paul's second shot went into the evergreens for a circle five. The rest of the back was a series of threes and fours.

On the back we shot:
Hawk-33
Paul-36

Unfortunately Paul was unable to back up his prematch boast of taking my 23 tag and sticking me with his 60 :osomething.

<font color="purple">Team Gawler Wins Triples </font>

Bryan, Jim Brazil, and "new guy" Ron took this evenings TNT shooting -11 from the wood tees. Two teams tied for second at -9. Their names are inconsequential since they didn't win, or play with me. Team Edwards made up of Tom, myself and Jesse (not Ras Disc) stumbled in at -7. Tom and I spent the evening hitting chains and not the basket.

Jim reports the Bryan's putting was "on fire" and the three lads deuced #'s 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 &amp; 9 for a 20 on the front nine. On the back they cooled off <font color="green">only </font> deucing #'s 11, 13, 17 &amp; 18.

34 players meant $34 per man. The evening was muggy and we did get sprinkled on for about four minutes six holes into the round.

Paul and Gump signed up to go Picnicing this weekend. Have you?

I say we have a picture of Adam standing on the rock at hole #10 holding Bill's beast in one hand and flipping him off with the other.

Or perhaps Adam could be sitting on a chair behind the rock using the rock as a desk. On the rock is a laptop computer, and laying next to the computer is a deactivated cell phone. The Beast is resting on the rock and being used as a coaster for Adam's "beverage". Adam naturally is nude, but only visible from the waist up.

Round One found me playing with Schweb, Crump and Linc Morgan. Now that's not intimidating! All three guys were very cool :cool:and helpful. I picked up several things, like Billy's interest in voodoo, and they all pointed out some stuff to me. That experience alone was worth showing up for.

Shockingly  I slipped away from them for round two, and played with Bobby, Tommy D. from VA and Jason Davis from PA. It was good to play with Bobby again. Tommy and his nuclear power plant golf cart was also entertaining, and he also threw the shot of the day when he attempted (and succeeded) to anhyzer over the mando tree on #13. I believe he was hoping to flex back, but ended up down near the A pin on #15 for a six. :(

Other highlights included watching Paul sweat through his shirt two holes into the round.

On Sunday I was teamed up with DJ, and John DeBois of S.C. Clearly rattled by playing with me, Deej loses four strokes to me. :D On #7 I parked my drive 2' away from the A pin basket from the blue tee. Everyone's idol Hysell witnessed this and immediately asked me to autograph his left bicep which he will be converting into a tattoo. John later hit a great putt on #12 from behind/underneath a bush to rival me for shot of the round.

The final round I was playing with John again, David Cote (a buddy of John's from S.C.), and Justin Pfeifer who had escaped the death group (i.e. Paul's card) with a great 54 in round three. Five holes into the round the rain started, and eventually became a steady downpour until the last two holes. David and John eventually began a little mano y mano hole by hole competition. I threed my first 12 holes before deucing #10. I went to my last hole (15) -1 but the second shot hit a rock, got on end and rolled down to the b pin. Missed putt for a four .

This time Paul had sweated through his shirt before the round had actually started. :)

Great job by Rich running the show for two long days. He never lost his cool or sense of humor.

Thanks to T2 and Will for spotting for us on the field holes on day one. They both helped me out. :D

Question, I saw three AM players throw to their bag more then 2 meters at the monthly. I called each one but no strokes were given. Should they have taken strokes at a monthly? PDGA rules says they should. What about foot faults? I see a lot of AMs foot faulting on a regular basis in monthly tournaments.

And what about players who have explosive outbursts of anger? Examples include loud cursing, throwing of equipment, kicking of bags etc.

Well since you asked...

I didn't play on Saturday as I was attending Christine's company picnic. So I thought, foolishly, that perhaps I would attend the Calvert Monthly. This idea served many purposes. 1. Two rounds of golf. 2. Scope things our for the non-existent Calvert Open 3. Work on the TeeBird...Do I love it or hate it? (conclusion: I'm a Beastly kind of guy).

So I moseyed down to the swamp, and things were a little more disorganized than usual. No Pete, and a small and unusually late gathering crowd. At one point I turned to Dr. Evil and said, "Perhaps it would have been smarter to hang with Boyd at the Rock." Nontheless I toughed it out and SW and Rich eventually got things going...sort of. The two minute warnings and start calls were sort of hit or miss. :D In round one I played with SuperStar Patt Pitts, WonderWoman Kelly Swartz and Landscaping Legend John McKee. I was mostly putzing around with my TeeBird, and not worried about my score. I have no interest in plastic or series points so I'm just hanging, looking cool etc.

After round one there was an actual lunch break with a start time. In round two I was playing with "Big" Tom and Rick. Things went downhill from there. Waiting to start BT and I are on the bench at #15 watching Shark practice putt. BT states to me that he is going to stroke him for putting after the two minute call. Which may or may not have happened. Nothing was heard by me, but people were teeing off on other holes. Of course in round one my group was coming down #2 after having completed #1 when the No-Spin group looked at us and asked if we had started. They were on #9 I believe. An example of the casual atmosphere yesterday. I playfully called out to Shark that BT was stroking him for a two minute violation. Mark immediately ceased his warm-up and gave me a very sincere thank you and warm smile for this notification.

In round two I gave it a bit more of a go than I had in round one as Kelly had shaken me down for a dollar bet on the day. As we were walking up #7 BT states that he is stroking DJ for throwing a disc. I did not observe this, but was uninterested and moved on. I believe the gnome has already addressed this on the Bored.

At #10 Rick and I enjoyed the obligatory BT meltdown as he took a 4 on the hole missing his putt. There was much cursing and putter abuse as well as a slammed umbrella into the ground at the tee to #11. Good times! :DSpeaking of which that recalled the BT bag kicking incident at the Good Times event. ;) On we played.

Rick had thrown a purple Valk to the right side of the gully on #13 in round one, and forgot to pick it up. We were intent on retrieving it this round, and Rick made it easy by throwing his second round drive to the same place, but 20' shorter. Rick walked up the left side of the gully as we went to our drives, and then down into the gully and over to the other side. He left his bag near me on the left side. :( After scoping out his situation I asked what disc he wanted to throw, and got it out of his bag and tossed it back to him. :oThis prompted an immediate stroke call from BT who had just missed a 4' putt on #12. I said whatever or words to that effect. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Rick throws and then tossed his two drivers back over the gully to his bag prompting two stroke calls from BT. I believe Rick was unaware of this conversation. BT continued this topic of conversation with me for another 30 seconds or so when growing weary of his lameness I suggested we simply leave it up to the TD to rule on. Nothing came up after the tourney, so I believe it was pursued no further. If SW or Rich had decided to stroke me for my outlandish and loutish behaviour I would have accepted that graciously.

However I feel that BT's true motivation here is to work people for a competative advantage. While the actions in question are violations of PDGA rules, this was not a sanctioned event, and is notorious for it's casual conduct. Many players, who shall remain nameless as they haven't entered this fray yet, routinely failed to mark their drop in putts, or even holed out yesterday. I believe DJ has already referenced some of this conduct in a lesser forum. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think for BT to be this petty about these issues at a club monthly in light of his own recent on course conduct is amusingly hypocritical.

As for the foot faulting comments that was not mentioned yesterday, and I'm sure it would have been if observed, so I assume that that is a general peeve.

As a disgraced graduate of this elite tourney training program I must say that I did learn much there last year playing the events, and part of the learning came from the laid back wisdom of Pete, SW, and the other pros etc. If the "club" decides to tighten up on the rules during the rounds then so be it. I'm not a participant anymore so it doesn't effect me, nor would it if I was. I can play either way. I'm not sure one lone enforcer with a self centered agenda is really the solution.

WOW! That is something else. I'm glad you can at least laugh at some of what was going on.

I'm learning more and more that a good mental game is just as, if not more, important then having a good golf game... included in that mental game is the ability to overcome the "bad shots" and continue to infuse positive emotions back into your next shots. If you're not having a good time out there, it may be time to re-think the situations you continue to put yourself in! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hawk, the Calvert Open has been listed as occuring on 7/31 on the home page of the Calvert Flyers (http://www.calvert-dgc.com) website for quite some time now. In addition, you can find the event flyer and information at the MADC Website (www.madisc.org) because this year's Calvert Open is a MADC B series event!

Mr. Ray was in it for bragg'in rights ( Shark, hook this guy up wit a tag! ) The front started with Randy-O and myself being joined by B.B. after we tee'ed on hole two, then joined my Ray after we three tee'ed on three... Ray took the front:
Ray-26
B.B.-28
Ski-29
Randy-O-32

The back 9 was the sincher for our hero Ski, who dueced holez 11, 14 and 15(C) While B.B. sealed his own demize with a DB on 13 :o

<font color="blue">NO-SPIN WINS DRUID HILL TOUR STOP </font>

<font color="purple">Hawk And Mr. Calvert Tie For Second </font>

Running a tad bit late this morning, Paul calls me on the cell and confirms that I am still making the stop. He encourages me to hurry as Sherwood and "Myers" are waiting. Naturally I assumed he meant Rich, but no it was former Worlds Master champion Jim waiting to take on Maryland's Disc Golf Hero, and his companions. Jim was looking especially tricked out today with his new Innova tour bag embroidered with his name and the phrase "Team Champion". After a brief fashion show/warm-up that again included Sherwood's purple/black socks we teed it up from the woods because that's what manly men do.

Paul started off hot deucing #'s 1 & 2. He had mentioned to me prior to the round that he had shot a 59 from the woods yesterday with some of the gang while the rest of us were being productive members of society. It looked like he was picking up right were he left off. Meanwhile Jim and I take a circle three and four respectively on #1 with me ending up in a tree off the tee 2 meters up, and Jim muscling his drive into the graveyard. Jim equaled Paul's deuce on #2 to begin the anaconda like strangulation. Everyone threed #3 which was fairly impressive, then the wheels came off for Paul. He takes a five on #4 while Jim deuces it. :cool:Paul begins to bleed strokes to the group like Al Pacino at the end of Scarface. The three of us more or less threed out the front nine from that point while Paul...didn't.

Scores after the front nine were:
Jim-25
Shark-27
Hawk-29
Paul-34

On #10 everyone's drives sort of went awry with the exception of mine. Then things got entertaining. On #11 Jim uncorks a drive and throws his hands up in a touchdown signal the instant it's gone. We find it one foot from the basket! :cool:On #12 Jim essentially recreates that moment with a roller that ends up nine inches from the basket. Back to back deuces! :D Meanwhile on #12 I once again end up in a tree for a circle four. Thanks to the groups efforts with golf balls and meaty stickes we were able to get it down, but it took a good ten minutes. Unshaken I park #13 for my lone deuce of the day. Beginning to feel the pressure, Mark finally breaks through for a deuce on #17. He wanted to make sure I mentioned that. :)

Scores on the back were:
Jim-25
Hawk-29
Paul-30
Shark-31

Please allow me to do the math for you:
Jim-50
Hawk-58
Shark-58
Paul-64

Afterwards I gave a brief backgammon clinic to the kids. Paul and I agreed to play a best of seven match, which I won 4-0 in one game by gammoning Paul on an auto doubled cube. Paul then defeated Shark in one game before Mark swam away. Paul and I then rematched in a best of three which I won 2-0.

Who will come out to play tomorrow in a potentially wet field of thorns? Stay tuned to this space to find out!

<font color="red">HAWK WINS ROCKBURN TOUR STOP </font>

<font color="blue">Rich Edges Out Mr. Calvert For Second </font>

Suprisingly five showed up to play the Rock this morning in a steady downpour. Warming up on #18 I was leery about what lay ahead as the growth was knee high there in the woods. Our fivesome was made up of myself, Rich, Mr. Calvert, Course "Pro" Boyd, and Big Tom. We slogged our way out to #1 and threw plastic.

After a starframe of fours on #1 we started to get some separation going. On #3 Tom, Rich and I deuce it. That completes the deuce portion of this report. The front nine then became the Boyd disaster reel as he takes a five on #6 and a six on #8. :( #9 proved entertaining as Boyd's drive kicks hard left off the tree screen resulting in a 15 minute search. Naturally we are all looking in the wrong place, and eventually Shark is attacked by some stinging insects tenatively identified as yellow jackets. Bellowing loudly while prancing away he's wounded in both legs, but gamely presses on. Meanwhile Tom hits the big tree across the creek and gets wet, while I avoid complete disaster when my third shot lands on the beach across the creek. Five for me, and circle five for Tom.

Scores after the front nine were:
Hawk-31
Tom-32
Rich-32
Mark-33
Bill-37

On #10 I pick up another stroke on the boys with a three which leads to nervous twittering among the group. On #12 I take an ugly 5 which gives the group hope. On #14 Rich picks up an impressive three when his drive ends up on the stairs of #15. He hyzers around the house, and nails the long putt. :cool:On #16 we scatter drives everywhere taking three fours (Bill, Mark &amp; Hawk) and two fives (Tom &amp; Rich). On the back Billstream regroups and avoids any fives, but unfortunately is too far back after his catastrophic front to make a move. On #18 Rich bricks a putt that would have tied the match and force the playoff as we played to the long pin.

Scores on the back were:
Bill-31
Hawk-33
Rich-33
Mark-33
Tom-36

The final damage adds up to:
Hawk-64
Rich-65
Mark-66
Bill-68 :o
Tom-68

Next weekends action is TBA.

"Timothy E. Pula, project director for Clipper Mill, disputed the notion that it would cause traffic problems. He said Struever "had a very thorough traffic study done" before deciding not to put an entrance on 41st Street. The development will have two access points, from Union and Parkdale avenues, though people involved in the project say the city is looking into reopening access roads through Druid Hill Park that have been blocked for decades."

This probably is talking about the closed roads on the other side of the zoo. The loop near the course wouldn't help the traffic flow for the CM project which is South of the park. I think the cleaning of the loop is simply part of an overall plan to clean the park up.

<font color="blue">T2 WINS DRUID HILL OPEN TUNE-UP/TWO ROUND TOUR STOP </font>

<font color="red">Hawk Easily Cruises In Second </font>

<font color="green">rotating cast of players enlivens event </font>

Six players arrived at 1100 for the first of two rounds. We split into two groups after a Boyd mini toss (T2/Rich/Hawk and Paul/Glen/Ski) and teed up from the woods. My group started on hole one and Paul's group started on hole 10.

Nothing overly dramatic happened on our first nine. A couple of twos, a scattering of fours and a lot of threes. We were joined on hole four by Druid local Norm who threw along with us the rest of the way. Meanwhile on the back nine Ski takes a circle five on #14 and follows that up with a six on #15. No details are currently available about that, but I suspect we had a missed mando.

Scores after the first nine were:
Hawk-27
Glen-28 (deuced #'s 17 &amp; 18)
T2-28 (#8)
Rich-29 (#6)
Paul-34
Ski-34

On the second nine we added some fives to our cards playing the back nine, but nothing horrific really happened. Meanwhile the other group is playing the front nine, and Ski takes a five and a circle five and throws in a two in between them.

Scores on the second nine were:
Glen-26 (#6)
Rich-28 (#'s 12, 17 &amp; 18 )
T2-29
Hawk-30 (#17)
Paul-33
Ski-33 (#2)

Total scores after the first round were:
Glen-54
T2-57
Hawk-57
Rich-57
Paul-67
Ski-67

We shuffled players before starting the metals round with Rich and Glen departing, but we added Debo, Patrick (who I don't know) and Smokin' Joe! This time the groups broke down as: Debo/Ski/Hawk/Paul &amp; Smokin'/Patrick/T2. My group again started on hole one and the others went to hole 10.

Debo came out incredibly hot sprinting through the front nine like it was putting practice. I was feeling run down without a food break, and both Ski and Paul were ahead of me at the turn. The other group was shooting nicely on the back nine, and after the first nine we stood at:

Debo-21 (#'s 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, &amp; 9  )
Smokin-25 (#'s 13, 17 &amp; 18 )
Paul-26 (#8)
Patrick-26 (#'s 13 &amp; 18)
T2-28 (#18)
Ski-28 (#8)
Hawk-31

At this point I know Paul is ahead of me, and I certainly don't want to listen to this all week about him beating me in one round. I decide to discontinue the TeeBird experiment, and try to at least narrow the gap. Can I reel him in over the remaining nine holes like a big hooked tuna? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Starting the back nine, I lose my putter down the steps on #10 :mad:for a circle four :(. Everyone always says you can't lose a putter, but the four of us looked for it for a good ten minutes. Poof gone. Debo was still shooting hot, but I was narrowing the gap on Paul picking up a stoke on #13, another on #14, two more on #16, and a final one on #18. ;) Ski proved that he is King of the Circles by putting his drive on #18 out onto Greenspring Ave. for a circle five. Ski es muy macho! :) Meanwhile the Smokin' Joe trio is sprinting through the front nine at near Debo pace.

Scores on the second nine from the metal tees were:
Joe-23 (#'s 1, 5, 8 &amp; 9 :))
Debo-25 (#'s 13, 17 &amp; 18)
Patrick-25 (#'s 1, 2 &amp; 8)
T2-26 (#'s 1, 6 &amp; 8)
Hawk-26 (#'s 13, 17 &amp; 18 ;))
Paul-31 ((#17 :()
Ski-32 :o

Final scores for the metal round were:
Debo-46
Joe-48
Patrick-51
T2-54
Hawk-57
Paul-57
Ski-60

Final standings for the two rounds were:
T2-111
Hawk-114
Paul-124
Ski-127

<font color="purple">GLEN WINS PINE GROVE TOUR STOP </font>

<font color="green"> Boyd Blutes It On Final Hole </font>

<font color="blue"> jeff p. makes Tour debut </font>

A suprising number of players made it out for the slightly disarrayed Tour stop at the Grove today at high noon. Early rain disappeared and we played under an overcast sky with a mild wind making periodic appearances. Upon arriving I find Jeff P. and his dyed z puttr' awaiting me. We go down and warm up on #1's basket, and then Glen arrives ("Some guy with black socks is walking down here") and we head back to the tee. Just as we are ready to tee off Boyd arrives with Smokin' Joe in tow who is sporting an Orioles jersey and cap. Now we are five, and then Ski wanders down the hill modeling a soccer referees uniform of black shirt and shorts. A sixsome! We probably should have split into two threesomes and let the first group play and then follow, but we opted for the herd. :)

The round started with me parking the first hole with my new friend the TeeBird and doinking the putt. :( Perhaps it's not going to be my day. On hole #2 the star of the day Ski,

Can he live up too his rating of 894 ??? The REAL agenda is to beat Hawk, right ? And come home with something lower than 78. Stand by for the second coming of SKI

began what would become a memorable round by taking a circle five after sailing into the ballfield to the left of the basket. Ski follows this up by again sailing into the ballfield on the left (Batter Up! :D) of #4's fairway for another circle five. Going into the monsterously diabolical #9 we are deuceless but having good times! :) I take a circle six by going into...your guessed it...the ballfield on the right of the basket. We're not at Druid anymore boys! :o

Scores after nine were:
Glen-29
Boyd-29
Smokin'-32
Hawk-33
Jeff-34
Ski-37

We've got a battle now going on between Glen and Bill, but first the greatest disc golf shot ever. Uncorking his drive from the 11th tee Ski muscles one into the road and off a passing cars windshield! The disc then bounces straight up in the air, and is sucked into the cars airstream. The driver slowed momentarily, but motored on. Ski later finds the disc across the street up someones driveway next to their house about three houses down the block. Talk about a shot and distance. Circle six for Ski. Meanwhile Glen and I hit the alley into #10 where Glen makes the deuce :cool:to go one up on Boyd. Equally important is the breaking of the deuce freeze we were in. Bill gets the stroke back and evens things on #11 when Glen takes a four. Smokin' and I deuce #12, and Bill and Glen remain tied going into the circle fest of #16. I start it off with a circle six by sailing into the ballfield up the hill on the right. Good distance, but not enough gas to hyzer back in over the fence. Meanwhile Glen, Smokin' and Ski manage to put their second or third shots into the woods that run up the left side of #17 for a circle five, five and six respectively. Boyd takes a four and a one stroke lead over Glen into #17. Tour rookie Jeff joins Bill by going circleless on the hole. On #17 Glen cranks an Orc very close to the basket and makes the deuce putt. Tied up with Bill again. :cool:The excitement is high as we go to #18 with a tie that Glen quickly ends with a monster drive and deuce of the hole. Bill went up the hill to the right and takes a four for the final margin of defeat.

Scores coming back were:
Glen-27
Bill-29
Joe-30
Hawk-33
Jeff-33
Ski-36

Final damage was:
Glen-56
Billstream-58
Smokin'-62
Hawk-66
Jeff-67
Ski-73 :(

After three hours at one course the group consensus was to forgo Goucher this time.

Went down to the Swamp today and it really lived up to it's nickname after this morning's rain. Found Debo and Rick H. practicing for the unknown tourney.

looks like the hawk meteor has fallen back to earth.

I shot a 53 from the blues. ;)

How amusing, Hawk tears up the course, a 53 in the swamp, amazing!!! :D

BTW the Calvert Open got a mention on PDGA radio

I know it is a nothing turney, JG, CG, No Spin, PP, Moser, the Pheifer's, Paco, Deebo, Ras Disc, TK, are among the expected players ;)

We will miss you Saturday, but see you Sunday, good day
