stay off that ankle dj. you're only going to have a miserable time if you play. it ain't worth it and, given the circumstances, i'm sure craig will refund you if you get in touch today.

I agree with Paul Deej. I know how much you want to play there, but watching you gimp around last night tells me you aren't up for humping around Seneca for four rounds this weekend. You're going to be miserable not playing, but you will probably be equally miserable playing poorly. Also it's the pain pills masking the discomfort making you think it's not all that bad.

Well guys here's the deal........I stopped by CVS lastnight and bought a brace that is so much more appropriate for my injury!Instead of targeting the general location,it targets the specific location in which i am injured!
There's no discomfort at all when i walk like before, also i can plant my foot and the brace does not give like the one the Doc gave me!
Rich and Hawk, beware tomorrow fore i will not lose to either of you! :D

it wasn't a waste if you learned something playing with the better pros in the first round. Last year i finished way DFL, this year i actually beat some pro masters guys and really didn't play as well as i could have. i think it always helps my game to learn to play my game and not worry about how/what everyone else was doing. I've learned by playing pro tournies that i am NOT a pro yet, and trying to make the same shots gets me in trouble more often than not. usually my game suffers when i play with people too much better, but i get better in the long run only by learning how to not make the mental error of trying to match the better player's shots...

Cheer up DJ!
You got to play with the legend in his own mind Nick Kight. That is worth the entry fee alone!
No, but on a less serious note; you have many many many more disappointing that those rounds to look forward to. Yup! Did you think I'd lie, and tell you that the worst is over? I wouldn't play you like that.
Truth is competitive disc golf is about peaks AND VALLEYS. Even Joey, Craiger, Moser, and Myers have their share, believe it, I've seen them. They may not be as extreme of lows compared to ours, but they are lows for them. The beauty and addictiveness of competitive disc golf is the titillation involved in the possibility or shooting our best round ever!
Besides putting at least 100 times a day, this over and above playing rounds at a course, the best advise I could offer you is this: During practice, warm up and competitive play play a little fun game with yourself in your mind. The game is called “Enjoy Yourself”. This game is not for everyone; I know of many players who relish playing a similar but opposite game or “I Suck”. But I can’t stress (having played each of those games for years and years and being expert at each) that IT IS A CHOICE. You can choose to be miserable and whiny, or you can choose to remain focused on playing well and having a good time. It is completely up to you which one you do.
I don’t know if you get what I’m saying, but if you do you can start to step outside yourself and get a good laugh at watching yourself (and others) losing your cool. And once you are aware at that level you can start to tell yourself helpful rather than negative things. Like: Instead of saying to yourself “I Suck! I’m going to miss this putt low.” “Enjoy Yourself! I know am going to make this.”
Now of course how much practice you have a “working” yourself the right way will play into this, but I bet if Craiger, Joey, and the other top players in our region chimed it here, they’d agree that even if you just start the doing this the very next time you play you will see immediate results. You’ll start to notice other guys “working” themselves the wrong way and it will just make it even more clear how important avoiding such a mind set is to shooting well, and more importantly to enjoying yourself.
This is getting a little long, but lastly I’d say this: don’t kill yourself over negative thoughts either. You will have them, most everyone does, just take note of them, laugh at them if you can, and refocus on thinking the right way. Players thinking the wrong way want company and will try to draw you into their game of “I Suck!”; just giggle and get back to concentrating on being in the right place for your next shot (the only shot, by the way, for which you can immediately do something about).
This message brought to you by the great wind bag of the DISCussion Board…
See you at the next MADC Series event!

With all due respect, like i said i was in good company but i can't even begin to think of the last time i shot an 83!
Okay,i never even had an 83 at Paw Paw c'mon!See where i'm going with this!!!
I can't say my foot had anything to do with how i played physically except maybe 3 shots or so,i may have been sub-consciously thinking of it though!
So,with that being said......as i said before,i would prefer to spend my money enjoying myself and with the past events so far this yr. i would have been happier spectating!
Paul,i am not looking for sympathy but rather where the hell the little bit of playing skill i had ran off to!
So,untill then i guess i will not play PDGA events becouse it is not worth the time nor money to me at this point!
See ya at local stuff(unsanctioned)for now...........Maybe!

<font color="green">TALES FROM THE TOUR </font>
<font color="red">Hawk Not DFL :D </font>
First off that is one nasty course. I have never endured anything like the long tees to c pins we played in the second round. Craig was kind enough to, I believe intentionally, set my up with Joe Mela starting on hole one in the first round. After watching Joe beat you by 22 strokes that round you can learn some leasons. First off you really do need to roll effectively to succeed there. Rolling alone is not enough as I watched many players roll astray. I'm going to have to pick a disc and get serious about that between now and the Mid-Atlantic.
The thing you learn from watching the pros is the control they have, and the ability to drive to the basket regardless of the hole. They are almost always putting for a two on every hole.
After the first round I was seven strokes behind the field including DJ. Apparently from what he and Mike Morano told me about their second rounds, the wheels really came off for both of them as they fell back to join me on the caboose in round three.
The second round found me playing with the infamous Brandon Bailey and Steve Graffunder. The amusing anecdote there was after the round we tallied the card, and I left it to Brandon to turn in, and departed to get a tire repaired. Brandon displeased with his effort gave the card to Steve to turn in who took it home. Only a hasty call to Steve's nearby house got the card turned in and us not being DNF'ed. I now turn all my own cards in. :D
Mentally the drive home Saturday was interesting because while I realized going in that I should be DFL actually having it happen still stunk emotionally. Intellectually I knew that I shot a 146 which was only six strokes worse than what I did at Patapsco, and this was on a much tougher course for my game. Going in I had hoped to average the high 60's for each round. :(
DJ said his ankle was cool the first day, but in round three he pulled up on a couple of his drives and regrouped before throwing on the upsloping tees on #'s 12 & # 15. That's when he did start limping a little and went to the pharmecuticals. He seemed better in the fourth round after the pain killer kicked in.
Going into the fourth round I realized that I was playing too tight, and decided I was just going to relax and start cranking. I hadn't been grunting up to that point! I think DJ also decided he had nothing to lose, but unfortunately for him my score improved, and his went downhill. He did a lot of 3 and 4 putting on several of the holes that really opened up a close race between he and I up to that point.
Lindsay did snap our picture on #1 during the final round, after refusing to pay my standard modeling fee for a casual photo. I relented this time, but will hold my ground in future similar situations.
I told DJ that even though I had advised him to skip this, that I (football mindset) admired him for gutting it out, and reminded him how I did the same last summer at the Calvert and Druid Opens playing with the bad elbow. I was taking the pain pills before during and after those tourneys for weeks. He'll have his shot at redemption at the Mid-Atlantic like Rich said, or he should come to the Patapsco Picnic healthy and ready to saddle up again.
Next on the hitlist is Ski at the Rockburn Challenge. See you in the intermediate field soldier! :D

<font color="purple">Takes #5 Tag From Boyd Who Had Taken It From Sherwood /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>
<font color="orange">Ski Sports Mohawk  </font>
It looked today that it would be Paul and I going mano y mano out at Pine Grove and then Goucher. At the appointed start time it was the two of us looking at the first tee which was underneath a little league mini-van. We decided to skip #1 and come back so as to minimize our chance of decapitating some little league parents. As we were approaching on #3, Shark comes strolling down the fairway behind us. Quite a trip for Mr. Calvert! As he joined in, Ski comes strolling up behind us sporting a mohawk  The mohawk is the look that says, "I've given up on getting girls!" A movement is afoot to get him to dye it his signature orange. :D Finally our expanding foursome becomes a fivesome as Boyd catches us as we are putting out #3! Another suprising roadtrip! Paul is coveting his #43 tag due to some Hopkins Lacrosse affiliation, but the remaining four of us threw in, and agreed to make it one big round combining the scores from both Pine Grove and Goucher.
<font color="brown">Sherwood Wins Pine Grove Part of Tour Stop :) </font>
Final Scores Were:
Shark-63
Bill-64
Hawk-66
Paul-67
Ski-70
Highlights include Mark getting increasingly annoyed with the jocularity of the group. Easily the most fun on Tour in many months was had today. :D
Shark deuced #'s 8 & 12. Boyd deuced #10, and the rest of us were shut out. On #3 I managed to park my drive in the cluster of trees guarding the basket, but my deuce putt hit metal and went down the incline behind the basket. :( My par putt hit metal and rolled back down the hill. :mad:My putt for four hit metal and rolled back down the hill. :o #5 went in. This provided great amusement for Paul. :( Circles were abundent this round with the five of us carding a grand total of 11. Mark managed the rare double circle taking a 6 on #2. Ski will have to brief us on the specifics of that as he and Mark were alone playing it to complete the 18. I managed a circle 7 on #16 when my drive up the hill didn't make it back out of the baseball field. On #10 Paul managed to yank his drive into the side of the school! :oIt actually kicked rather nicely down the hill though, but he then put his second shot OB. Boyd had a spectacular ace run on #10 going out over the baseball field and hyzering back in right over the basket. Ski started a day long trend here of overshooting everything. Perhaps less caffeine is in order!
While we were waiting for Ski and Shark to finish their round, Boyd conducted a putting clinic with a couple of young boys, and a little girl insited that I watch as she repeatedly rolled herself down a hill. The MD AM Tour is a huge draw for tomorrow's players!!!
After this we (with the exception of Paul who went seeking liquid fuel for both his vehicle and the group) caravaned over to the local Taco Bell. The group couldn't agree to dine in or out, so we ended up eating in our individual rides with Boyd, Ski and I in a line conversing through open windows, and Shark meditating in another row.
After a hearty and nutritous lunch we convoyed to scenic Goucher College.
<font color="green">Boyd Wins Goucher Section of Tour Stop. Scores Big With The Ladies! ;) /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>
Final Scores Were:
Bill-26
Shark-28
Hawk-29
Ski-29
Paul-31
We ran into Goucher Paul here and discussed the nine hole course with him. Rockburn Course Pro Boyd engaged young GP on the finer points of course design. Ski and I practice putted during this.
The course is as described nine holes with some terrific cement pads, but they are rather smooth and could be slippery later, or when wet. The layout is interesting in that the tees are positioned in such a way that most drives require a rather severe hyzer or anhyzer release. Unfortunately the fairways for #'s 5 & 6 cross.
Bill managed to deuce #'s 3 & 5. His drive on #3 to the basket which is in a cluster of trees was a park job. One of the best throws of the day. Shark also deuced #3. Paul took a five on #8 which might be the first officially recorded double bogey at Goucher. :(
Scores after two rounds were:
Boyd-90
Shark-91
Hawk-95
Paul-98
Ski-99
At the conclusion Sherwood had to depart, so tags were shuffled, and Bill picked up the #5 from Shark. I unloaded my big 50 something for Ski's big 40 something.
In the parking lot after Mark had departed, Bill reveled in his securing of the 5 tag, and proudly showed it off to a couple of yound COeds who were attempting to drive off.
BB: Hey do you all play disc golf?
Girl: What's disc golf?
BB: It's that course over there. You take special frisbees and try to get them in the basket like golf.
Girls: [Disinterested looks exchanged.]
BB: I just beat all these guys!
Girl: That's nice. [car is backing out of space and turning away]
BB: I'm #5!
Girl: That's great.
BB: So what are you ladies doing later?
Girls: [drive away]
Paul had mentioned that Tony D. was running a World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend event at Druid, and suggested we expand the Tour stop to show support, and take advantage of the pins all being short. :cool:Seeing as how Ski was accompanying us, we felt safe hitting the Zoo.
<font color="red">Hawk Cruises to Easy Win at Druid Over Local Boy Paul and TNT Legend BillStream. :D </font>
After procuring World's Biggest goodies from Tony we hit the course playing the metals.
Final Scores Were:
Hawk-51
Paul-56
Bill-57
Ski-59
Bill agreed to put up the recently procured #5 tag. Paul boldly stated he could take it from Bill at Druid, but wasn't in the match. Bill did manage to make $3 on hole 3 by winning a CTP contest with the group by beating Ski by about three feet.
After taking a two stoke lead over Bill on the front nine, he began to quickly lose ground to me losing three additonal strokes on #'s 10, 11 & 13. While waiting for me to fold, Bill kept giving me strokes taking a 4 to my 3, or a 3 to my 2 on much of the back nine. My final deuce count was four, Paul had thee, Bill tallied two, and Ski had one.
Sportmanship abounded in this round as we encouraged each other many times with cries of "You're the man!" or "Get in the hole!" This was an outstanding example of the esprit de corps and good times to be had in disc golf on this important public relations weekend for the sport.
A debate began to swirl on the back nine as Bill, knowing he was in trouble, tried to argue that we should continue to count strokes cumulatively for Druid with our previous two rounds for one grand total. I argued that since we had shuffled the tags at Mark's departure, we were starting fresh with a new tag match separate from our earlier play. Paul sided with Bill, and Ski agreed with my position. Shark will probably offer an opinion based on how this should have been handled for a multi-round cumulative tag match with departing players etc. We compromised on a CTP contest on #1 if Bill and I had ended up tied, but my six stroke margin of victory overcame the five stroke edge he had going into Druid after Pine Grove and Goucher.
For the four of us who played all 45 holes, final scores were:
<font color="red">Hawk-146 </font>
<font color="blue">Boyd-147 </font>
<font color="green">Paul-154 </font>
<font color="orange">Ski-158 </font>
Now I know many of you are salivating at the prospect of having a shot at #5. :) Bill and I already agreed that we weren't playing tomorrow after this marathon of disc. I might go out and practice rolling on the way to the gym, but no real round play on Sunday. Next weekend I need to get my truck serviced on Saturday, and on Sunday I'm picking up Christine at BWI in the early afternoon. Therefore I might not be playing a Tour stop next weekend. Unless I decide to do something late on Saturday afternoon. I due owe Bill a rematch, and won't make him wait a whole month as the rules allow. :DI have to decide where I will defend. Also in true Dub fashion I have autographed the tag making it even more highly desirable. This might generate the biggest Tour stop of the year. :D

Another celebrity endorsement :)
All and all, not a BAD write up Hawk. Of course its centers on your universe, but thats to be expected with riding the high that comes with the BIG # 5 tag ;) "YOU DA MAN" All i have to say is, GOD help you all when i learn to putt !!! And to recap sharks last hole (#2) @ Pine Grove we had a strong head wind and a tight fairway to contend with and Shark put both his drive and up shot in the rough...I only ended up with my drive in the grass, My circle 4 to his double circle 6 ! Until we meet again. P.S. nice font color usage :)
PLEASE EXCUSE ME, did i fail to mention that yesterday was the most fun i've had Golfing in a long while, thanks to all, and can't wait for the next TOUR STOP. Get ready for the Kinder stop by calling for a round any ole time...

Here Ski I'll flesh out some more of your round for you so you don't feel left out. :D
<font color="orange">Entering Druid Ski and Paul were battling to avoid the triathlon DFL. After the front nine the battle was still close, but then Ski took a six on #10. He turned a nice drive into a dramatic overshot with his putt(please refer to primary Tour stop round up for comments on this theme) and then overshot his putt for three, then overshot his putt for four, then overshot his putt for five, before #6 went in. Watching Tim walk back and forth from one side of the basket to another was like watching tennis at the French Open. Slow back and forth action!
Then on #12 Blade throws his drive over the road when we had determined that the basket was short (obviously as everything was in A). I could go on, but I'm trying to accentuate the good times had by four guys...and Shark :)</font>

lol... :D
the only reason you scraped by at druid was your lack of liquid "fuel" whatever the reason, i don't think i've laughed more during a tour stop than on saturday.
and it's not "you're the man" but "you da man". my bogey on hole 7 was due entirely to laughing uncontrollably during my run up.

SATURDAY 10AM TEE FIX PRIMER
This Saturday (5/8/04) at 10AM let's all start the tour action early with a little work! :D Our course pro, Jim Myers, is requesting assistance in repairing and restructering 4 tee pads at Patapsco.
Starting this early before the Picnic is a good way to cut down on the actual amount of work we will have to do in one session making it easier on the arms for the High Noon tour stop.
DJ has offered the gas powered tamper for this Saturday (which will lessen the work load greatly) and we will need some helping hands. The more the merrier!!!
Please let me know by PM or email at blue_raspberries@hotmail.com if you plan on joining in on the SATURDAY 10AM TEE FIX PRIMER :D. Thank You!

Shot a mediocre 60 at Rockburn (which needs a mowing) this afternoon after various medical tests, and a five hour hostage situation at Toyota. Speaking of hostages, as I trooped up the hill to the parking lot I was greeted by the Howard County SWAT team! They had their little armored troop transport, mobile command center and everything. i think hawk isn't scared to put his tag up after working(though he is being very quiet over on his pdga board haunts). if there are enough people it should be only a light workout and lunch and then on to a tag match!!!
Scared? Of you people? :D My point in attempting to challenge some of you slackers into actually contributing one hour of physical labor is obviously horrific to you. You spend more time worried about pyrex cookware than most things it seems. I'll be there tomorrow, and as usual doubtlessly carrying more than my share of the work. That's fine. Then I'll play you sissys, and we'll see what happens. If you win this precious #5 tag I hope you take it home and roll around on it naked in blissful rapture. That you have whipped yourselves into such a frenzy over this is pathetic, but not unexpected. All I know is that this will be my last workday for this "sport", as well as my last tag match as I will be turning into Sherwood whatever I end up with. Both activities are clearly beneath my participation. Whatever Jim decides to do format wise is fine with me. If you think I intend to spend time and energy debating trivialities like this you are all terribly mistaken. Your sniveling and whining sicken and amuse me simultaneously. Thank you for making me feel superior.
Dick
May 08 2004, 12:34 AM
yeah, sure hawk. i'm horrified to put in some work on a course. :)
trust me, i'll be there anyway, tags or not. what i'm saying is that the people who would show up that can't work, are all people who put in their fair share of work on courses or for the sport in general.i think if you and lindsay want to have a tag match for just people who work , that's fine. i just don't agree with leaving out people. no big deal, no reason to get in a tizzy and forsake tags and workdays. just do your own thing and have fun. sorry if i disturb you so much by not agreeing, or by not liking the content of some posts. maybe i should just keep my opinions to myself...
Dick
May 08 2004, 12:42 AM
p.s. glad i could at least amuse you and help you to feel superior, if only for awhile! :D
i totally see your point that you can accept only challenges from people who worked, and that is cool also. i see the point about making it an incentive or challenge to get people out. I don't want you to think i don't see your point. it is your tag and you can call the format for a challenge as a separate tag match from Jim. I'm sure the people who don't work will have a heck of a time beating him !

Reminds me of back in elementry school!
C'mon people,if you know a post is offensive read past it!If you can't participate in a set "required criteria"(i.e work day)oh well move on!
If Hawk wants to have a tag match and he's the low tag,he sets the criteria! If he wants everyone, but me to play becouse i'm the shortest,oh well i'll deal!
Basiclly, the point is if you can't participate within the set guidlines than don't pout, figure something else out!
I am not agreeing with anyone on this topic for the fact that "i could care less" but it does seem a little elementry to me!

<font color="green">Dub Captures Highly Coveted #5 Tag </font>
<font color="purple">four new tee boxes installed with minor vehicle damage :) </font>
After a three hour work session, the controversial tag match was played from the red tees by six workers/participants. Final scores were:
Jim-55
Dub-62
Rich-63
Rachel-66
Hawk-69
Lindsay-DNF
This is actually the first DNF we've had at a tour stop. Apparently the anchovie pizza Rich provided for the crew disagreed with Ms. Merce.
As you can see Jim cruised with relative ease to his successful tag defense. He deuced #'s 8, 10 & 12. Dub also deuced #12. Rich deuced #18 with a park job witnessed by our group as we were playing #10. Rachel deuced #8, but did have two circle fives on holes 1 & 5.
Group one started on #1 and group two started on #10. Scores after the first nine were:
Jim-27 (1)
Tom-28 (2)
Rich-30 (2)
Rachel-34 (1)
Hawk-37 (1)
Lindsay-41 (2)
It was close at the turn, but Tom took a six on #3 and a five on #6 to give Jim the victory cushion. Tom and Rich were neck and neck most of the match for second.
During the work session the Rockburn Crew was observed lurking the course. :D

i swear i didn't know that everything except green peppers included anchovies! YUCK!
seems like everyone shot pretty well(except lindsay who was feeling ill) considering we were worn out from working and the extreemely breezy conditions. Tom had to play alot left handed since his right hand was a little sore from power shoveling. he's a good shoveler as any calvertarian knows from when it snows. must be the low center of gravity!
one weird highlight for our group was when lindsay went to pick up her disc on 11 and almost picked up a fairly large black and yellow snake. i chased him off down to the blue tee on 12 and play resumed, but lindday and i were so distracted we both took 4's i think.

PUTS STAKE IN THE HEART OF MR. CALVERT ON THE FLYERS HOME COURSE! </font>
<font color="blue"> D.J. Puts On Spectacular Show </font>
After a four month absence greatness returned to the recently lengthened dried out swamp. Five of us played from the white tees. Final scores were:
Hawk-55
Shark-58
Mac-59
Brady-60
D.J.-61
We started on #10 under the soothing sounds of thousands of cicadas. The course is littered with holes and abandoned shells. Some trees have hundreds of shells around the base of the trunk, and upper leaves have two or three each hanging on the underside.
DJ and Mac both deuced #10. I've never met Mac before, and he throws just about every shot sidearm. His main driver is an ArchAngel that he sidearms! It's rather effective and cool to watch.
DJ went on to deuce #'s 12, 13 & 14. He was clearly the hot player. By the time we got to #16 Deej had a four stroke lead on the group. Then we got to #17. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Deej missed the mandos off the white tee. He reteed from the red and missed the mandos again. He rereteed and missed the mandos again. Finally he pulled out a red Z-Wasp and drilled it straight down the fairway into the creek. It was OB, but never found, so he took another circle for that. Anyone finding the red Z-Wasp please let DJ know. :) He ended the hole with the Tour's first ever quadruple circle ten. :oYes you read that correctly.
After the first nine scores were:
Hawk-27 (deuced #16)
Shark-27 (15 & 16)
Brady-29 (15)
Mac-29
DJ-31
It was still anyone's match even after the disaster of #17 for everyone's favorite Keebler elf.
The second nine found Mark and I neck and neck until we got to the other double mando #6. I had the tee and drilled the Beast right down the tube hitting the tree behind the A pin. This resulted in one very frightened groundhog charging towards us! Shark stepped up and missed the mandos to the left. On his retee from the red, he yanked his drive right of the mandos. :oThe resulting double circle six was the difference in the match. Scores on the front nine were:
Hawk-28 (deuced #2)
DJ-30 (2)
Mac-30
Shark-31
Brady-31
There was one of those tag matches going on but I was an observer to this action...fortunately for Sherwood. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

<font color="green">ROCKBURN WINS TOUR STOP </font>
<font color="blue">Flawed Tag System Leaves Two Players Tied </font>
<font color="orange">Matt & Bill Shoot 54's. Who Wins Tour Stop? </font>
On a hot, humid, and miserable day, six of us played a round for no apparent reason. The briars and poison ivy claimed at least three discs that this reporter knows of. Final scores were:
Matt-54
Bill-54
Glen-57
Rich-57
Shark-64
Hawk-69
My group (Rich & Matt) started on #1 and we all promptly yanked our drives off to the right to various degrees of disaster. At that point the fun was over.
After nine we stood at:
Matt-26 (Deuced #'s 3, 5 & 7; lost Valkyrie on #6)
Rich-28 (3 & 4)
Hawk-33 (9)
The other group started on #9 I believe making a first and second nine a little difficult to report on. After finishing #18 they stood at:
Bill-28 (17)
Glen-30 (16 & 17)
Shark-32 (15)
Our back nine saw the scores going up, and the joy going down. Matt nearly lost his Classic Roc on #13, and I succeeded in losing a Leopard on #10 after making three consecutive throws with it. I also managed to record two sixes and a five while stumbling around like a man lost in the desert. We finished the second nine at:
Matt-28 (15 & 17)
Rich-29
Hawk-36
The other group played the front nine (eight) last and on #6 Glen lost his KC Roc. Their scores were:
Bill-26 (3, 4 & 9)

Any future Tour stop that ends in a tie will have a tiebreaker so a winner can be determined for the stop. The silly tag thing can run it's own way. The players who are tied can decide on a playoff. It can be a hole, a CTP or whatever the two decide, but we must have a winner!
It's looking like a Calvert/Druid kind of summer.

aw, ya big wuss! one bad day doesn't mean you can't play the rock. heck, if you want to be a tampa disc club guy, you'll need to toughen up for the rough down there. briars are nothing compared to sawgrass!
on another note, let's work out a deall on the discs we were discussing. i have an unthrown super aviar, and a few spiders and beasts i can spare. also a leopard or two i'm sure. you'll haver to stop by and we can pick through the bins. or i can spring you some cash...

FROM CODORUS-----Hello, Calvert, Rockburn, Seneca, Patapsco, Druid, etc....We are planning a date for JUNE CODORUS SUMMER BLAST (C-TIERish) and would like some quik feedback as to dates preferred ...either
SUNDAY JUNE 20TH ..OR..SATURDAY JUNE 26TH. I think the 20th is open and the weekend of the 26th is Pittsburgh
Bill,
No course is ever completely off the tour, but like Patapsco, once things become unpleasant, it moves down the rotation. You know the Rock is my home away from home, but the Tour is about a fun round, it's not the Ironman contest. Matt and I weren't having the greatest of times yesterday, and it wasn't from his shift at Mayflower on Saturday alone that was bringing him down. Rich seemed relatively unphased by his surroundings proving once again that he's insane.
Mark etc.,
I will type this slowly so you people can follow what I am saying. Tour stops are not tag matches. Tag matches are a subsidiary event occuring during the stop. The Proffesor can still run the tags however he wants, even during a Tour stop. If Mark's not around, then all bets are off! :DI agree with Boyd that the tag match tie rule is lame, but I'm not interested in fighting over that. What I am saying is we need to have a winner of the Tour stop, and that is why we are going to start having a playoff for any future tie that occurs. As I said it is up to those involved in the tie to agree to how to resolve it. I can be the tiebreaker vote if needed. Questions? I have a flow chart with pictures to help explain this for those of you having trouble grasping this concept. Tour Stop over here...needs winner. Lame tag match rules separate...over there.
The Codorus C-Tier will be a must attend Tour stop whatever date they pick. Can Felty steal their love again?
Golly could we do tags out of state?

Actually it's the outside shells of the cicadas that are harmful to dogs if they eat too many.

<font color="orange">SKI WINS TOUR STOP!!! </font>
<font color="green">Four Stroke Win Obvious Sign of Pending Apocalypse </font>
<font color="blue">Smelly Druid Eats at Least Two Discs </font>
Six of us and Ski's special lady teed it up today from the wooden tees at Druid. He may not be a lot of things, but the boy breeds well!
Final scores were:
Ski-55
Greg-59
Hawk-60
Smokin' Joe-62
Paul-62
Boyd-64
Paul was awaiting us after already having played a round this morning. Clearly humiliated by his poor play yesterday with the Professor, he reported playing a second hot round yesterday, and another this morning prior to the Tour stop. He warned Ski and I that we were in trouble as his putting has hot! Ski and I exchanged /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif's and the Boyd Mini Toss commenced.
Ski, Paul & Joe started on #1 and we started on #10. Paul opened up his round by cranking his drive into the cemetry behind the basket for a circle five. :oSki's only blemish on his round was a circle five on #3. This reporter is unaware if this was a possible third lost disc, or the ever popular over the fence into the animal hospital ob violation. Ski had two deuces to minimize the five, and an impressively stunning string of threes.
Meanwhile the Rockburn expatriates began their round with Boyd holding the #12 tag (I mention this for you tag geeks out there) driving off to the left on our first tee. I promptly drove my brand new never thrown red Champion Leopard around the bend and into the woods to the right...somewhere. Greg did the same with his sidearmed Firebird. We found Greg's Firebird, but the Leopard remained lost. One throw and gone! Isn't that the kind of thing we were trying to avoid by going to Druid?
Other memorable highlights from our first nine include the ever popular Boyd drive into the ground 50 feet off the tee on #13. He followed this up with a drive into a tree 40 feet off the tee on #16. As the Firebird hit the tree and plopped to the ground, a frustrated Bill turned to Greg and I and said, "That thing was really working!" How a disc can be declared to be working 40' off the tee made Greg and I giggle. My own lowpoint also occured on #16 where my drive ended up 10' behind the basket. While putting for the sure deuce :cool:I got distracted by Greg's white socks moving towards me and doinked it. :o
After the first nine the scores were:
Ski-28 (deuced #'s 2 & 7)
Greg-28 (11)
Joe-29 (5)
Hawk-31
Bill-31 (12)
Paul-32 (9)
On the back nine eventual winner Ski played the smoothest of smooth disc going 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3! Nothing notable on the card as the group didn't deuce anything or incur any of the dreaded circles.
Meanwhile on the front nine we were all over the place. Bill came out firing deucing #1. I answered by deucing #2 with one of my two remaining Leopards as my drive ended up 3' behind the basket. :cool:On #3 Greg lost a disc. He has requested that I not report the disc, or it's last seen location. Circle six. Bill joined Greg in the circle six club by going over the zoo hospital fence. Greg followed this with a five on #4, and sensing his group lead dwindling began to rally. He hit a spectacular putt on #6 from 10' in the woods to the right of the pin on the unmowed and cicada carcassed signature hole. The signature part might currently be due to the smell coming from the insect graveyard down there. While not horribly overwhelming, it isn't likely to become a best selling perfume either.
Scores after the second nine were:
Ski-27
Hawk-29
Paul-30
Greg-31 (Also deuced #8)
Joe-33
Bill-33
Tomorrow we're back at Goucher for 18 holes of college action. Either two rounds of nine, or we might try and track down the alternate tees. Be there at high noon and you might get to hear Boyd say, "Hey girls I'm #70!" :D

<font color="orange">SKI WINS RESHUFFLED TOUR STOP ON HOME COURSE </font>
I headed up to Goucher this morning, but turned out to be the only one willing to brave the heat. I played a quick solo round of the nine shooting a disappointing 29. Missed a 10 footer on #3 for a deuce(this theme gets repeated later) and foured #'s 7 & 9. Goucher was neatly mowed, and the lovely Brooke was jogging nearby. ;)
After that I called the Ski Lodge as I knew he was looking for some disc action:
Ski: Hello...I'm sexy.
Hawk: Is this the Kinder Farm course pro?
S: Why yes it is.
H: It's a no show at Goucher, you still looking for action today?
S: Always! I was just getting ready to do some nude yoga in the backyard, but I can reschedule that for later in the day.
H: Ummmm...okay I can be at Kinder in 40 minutes.
S: Outstanding Rich called and is looking to come out as well.
H: Very well. See you in a bit.
S: I'm sexy.
So I ventured down to the much ignored Kinder Farm course. It's a family park you know. Your $5 entrance fee gets you into a world of community gardens, a very large jungle gym thing for the kids, a bird sanctuary, and an impressive variety of two and four legged animals...if you know what I mean. ;)
The course is nine holes. The tee areas are the biggest shortcoming as they were grass, but are now worn down to bare dirt, and some have begun to turn into trenches/ditches. The locals have begun moving to the sides of the original tees. Some of the holes do have picnic tables in the way, but de facto course pro Ski is going to start working with the park the rearrange the furniture. The grass was maybe two inches high. Higher than Goucher. Sort of like Druid after this weeks mowing. It appears to be cut regularly, and no poison ivy was spotted in the brush. :)
The holes are mostly open and in the 270'-310' range according to the tee signs. Ski played it driving mostly with a Roc. I used the Beast just to make sure I could get there, but it is mid-rangeable for the most part. #'s 3, 5 & 9 are aces just waiting to happen. Only #'s 2 & 8 are holes that shouldn't be deuced fairly regurlarly.
Ski had initially said that we would play the nine, and then get to 18 holes by doing some safari action from various locations to specific baskets. Warning: He's got this strong desire to throw through the pavillions!!! By the time we played the nine my gracious host decided that we would just complete the circuit again as many of his alternative routes were occupied.
Final scores were:
Ski-51
Hawk-55
Hole one is a straight shot to a basket guarded by three trees. I nailed a straight drive but ended up 2m's above the playing surface. This was a controversial ruling by the course pro. Curiously he assured me at the tee that it wouldn't stick, and would fall by the time we got down there, but it didn't! A circle four for me, and an early one stroke lead for Mr. Kinder.
Hole two has the basket tucked into a small clearing. It's probably the second toughest hole on the course as you tend to either end up in the brush to the left or right. This began a sting of 14 holes where we scored the same each time.
Hole three is wide open running alongside the road. All asphalt/concrete is OB. I parked this during our front nine, but missed the 10 footer for deuce. (See Goucher above) Also at this hole a young lad was batting a baseball around. Ski, decked out in his blue crips bandana and black Maryland cap, called out to the youngster to beware of our flying discs. Naturally I assumed this would degenerate into someone getting capped, but fortunately it worked out peacefully. :)
Hole four is slightly uphill with about six trees near the basket.
Hole five shoots slightly downhill into an open field. We both deuced this one. A family playing the course ohhhed and ahhhed at our drives. Come out and impress the locals! :D
Hole six is back up the incline with the basket slightly to the left behind four trees.
Hole seven is into a cluster of 7 trees with low hanging brances. This became an issue on the back nine for me.
Hole eight is straight up a slight hill then it takes a 90 degree turn to the left into an alley where the basket is. Perhaps the signature hole. The object is to get to the alleys mouth for a deuce putt.
Hole nine is another straight shot into an open field.
Going into hole 14 (#5) I was still down the intial one stroke. We both had substantial putts for deuce. I was out and hit mine putting the pressure on Ski. He hit his as well to tie the hole. :( On hole 16 (#7) Ski parks the basket with his fancy Roc. Running out of holes I gunned the Spider straight ahead and a very low causing me to be way out. My second shot was again very short leaving me a putt to keep the damage to just an additional one stroke lost, but I missed that taking a 4 to Ski's 2. I'm now down three with two holes to go. Going for broke I tried the hail mary hyzer into the hard left on hole 17 (#8), but was 15' short of the alley and went into the brush. Another four after the desperation reverse straddle failed to clear the woods. I'm down four going into hole 18 (#9) where we both took the threes.
All in all a similar course to Silver Creek. Ski is looking to create a second set of tees to make it 18 different tee shots. I'm not sure the baskets are set in a manner that would allow one to play it backwards like Pine Grove, but there are some definite alternate options for some longer "pro" tees.
As I type this, Rich might be out there trying to wrestle that 12 tag from Ski. If Ski still holds it come next Saturday, we might have the tour stop out there. Bring your game and $5. :D

after a gueling warm up match solo at the rock( no discs lost, 12 over) in the heat, i cruised up to bass pro shops to return a rod and then head out to try to get ski to lose his tag to me. ski was busy by time i got out there. but i did get to give a jump start to a lovely young lady in a bikini at the parking lot of bass pro shops! not sure how she ended up there i a bikini, but the location and attire were the best a girl could hope for when needing a jump start. i'm surprised there weren't a crowd of bubba's flocking to the rescue trying to get her car fixed. i must have shown up at the right time i guess.
i am out of town sat and sunday, but may be down for a nice tour stop memorial day. maybe we should have a big fundraising tag showdown to raise money for the md disc golf lawnmower?

Just reporting from the field sir, and let me warn you, it is not pretty /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
After my much bally-hooed win at Druid on Friday and capture of the "lucky" 13 tag it was all down tag from there.
Seneca Saturday from the longs with lefty and I was up 31 36 after 9 but replaced the 13 tag with a 40 something after losing the back 37 31.
But Sunday provided a revenge match from the Seneca tips again with new tagger Bruce and lefty. Bruce put together a 32 30 his best ever to smoke the field, my drive collapsed late and I know hold tag 70 something. Yes, very productive weekend :p

...and the Boyd Mini Toss commenced.
Ski, Paul & Joe started on #1 and we started on #10.
c'mon now! you gotta give me a stroke or two handicap when forcing me to play w/ smokin' joe. i was no good for at least two holes on the back after the following conversation...
smokin' joe-"cicadas taste like boiled peanuts"
*smokin' joe eats a cicada*
*joe rinses it down w/ some gatorade*
smokin' joe-"ya know? they actually taste like moths"
*ski and paul exchange confused looks, laughing*
paul- "how in the he-l do you know what a moth tastes like joe? :D<LOL>"
smokin' joe-"didn't you ever eat a moth at memorial stadium?"
paul- "no" , *still laughing uncontrollably :D*
as evidenced at previous tour stops, putting is especially difficult when trying not to laugh out loud!
i need a re-match!!!

The irony of the empty desk chair for Mr. Druid @ 3:45 just hit me. :D
Probable rematch spots this weekend:
1. Goucher/Silver Creek combo. (potential 23 holes if we can find both sets of SC tees. we have never Toured at SC! :o)
2. The Triple Threat...Pine Grove/Goucher/Silver Creek (potential 41 hole marathon )
3. Pine Grove
4. Kinder Farm (The $5 fee is kind of a rally killer, but if people want to tag poach and Blade is still holding #12, then the game may be a foot. Also we've never had a true Tour stop there.)
5. Calvert (Though Lindsay's Good Times thing is the 6th I believe, so we'll be down there for that then.)

On the other hand Saturday's stop will have to start at 1000 as some of us have a cookout to get to, so Rockburn is convenient. Food at T-Bonz is a good draw also. Sunday might have to be the double or triple header. To be determined later this week.

<font color="green">Rock Claims Another Victim </font>
<font color="purple"> Grueling Three Hour Round Leaves Group Looking Forward To Late August Rockburn Challenge /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>
Five of us ventured out to the Rock today for convenience and disc. Obviously good judgement was not involved! Final scores were:
Jim-56
Matt-59
Bill-63
Greg-69
Hawk-71
In true John Wayne fashion we teed it up as a fivesome and had at it. Everything is in long. Things started off fairly smoothly as the three Rockburn Crew members were able to help Jim and I find discs on the front nine. On hole two I went into the right side of the alley requiring a little search and rescue, and Jim went into hiding on #4. Both discs were successfully recovered. Matt feared he had recreated his lost disc on #6 from the last Tour stop, but that turned out to be okay as well. Hmmm...maybe it wouldn't be that bad after all. :D
Scores after the front nine were:
Jim-27 (deuced #3)
Matt-27 (3 & 5)
Bill-31 (5)
Hawk-34
Greg-35
Greg hit a bad patch of road going 5-5-5 on #'s 7, 8 & 9.
Starting the back nine on #10 things looked prominsing as four of us (including my first three ever in the long) got threes. Then things got ugly. If you think back to the opening credits to Gilligan's Island where they sing about a three hour tour, but then the "Seas starting getting rough" and Skipper and Gilligan are shown clutching the wheel during a torential downpour...hole 11 is when it started to rain. :D Matt and Bill turned over treasured drivers into the "scenery". The others who had been mocking my choice of wearing slacks to play in instead of shorts were starting to see the wisdom of my ways. :D Bill gratefully found his but we weren't successful with Matt's. Meanwhile Jim parks his drive on the left branch of the road and then nails the monster putt! :cool:Matt takes the first circle (4) and Bill takes a six. On #12 Bill crushes a drive up the hill even with the wagons...and takes a four. I putz around, second shot up in a tree, miss a ten footer, and take a circle six. Everyone else fours. Pass the seasick pills!!! :( On #13 Jim again drives and putts while everyone else threes and I do my now traditional turnover into the trees before the fence. Jim graciously suggested a different disc in my bag for that tee from now on. It seems like good advice. :) Separation for Jim from Matt now. But wait! On #14 Jim puts his drive up in the tree at the fence, and misses a putt. Circle five. :oMatt threes as do the rest of us. Match back on...well for Matt and Jim at least. At #15 Bill and I muscle across the creek with slightly different results. Bill parks himself five feet from the basket, and I'm 100' to the right. Matt gets wet for a circle four. The rest was like watching the castaways swim ashore in the lagoon of their uncharted desert isle.
Scores on the back nine were:
Jim-29 (11 & 13)
Matt-32
Bill-32 (15)
Greg-34
Hawk-37
As we departed the parking lot Matt was loaded up with cigarettes, gatorade, and shades and heading back to #11 to find his disc. Obviously if this was a horror movie (as opposed to the real life horror it is) we'd never see him again, but only hear his shrieks from the woods.
Tomorrow I think I'll be sticking to the Pine Grove/Goucher double header with the possibility of Silver Creek thrown in! Are you tough enough to play 34 holes on three courses? Are you willing to start at 1100? If so I'll see you there then.
Remember: It's the MD AM Tour where the low tags play. :D
Nice write up "little buddy". And nice avitar you sexy mutha ***** ! Anywho, sorry me and my low tag can't make it out. I'm digesting homemade blueberry pancakes and sasuage and getting ready for some backyard putting :DYou can always stop by KINDER on the way home... The score card from yesterday(patapsco) reveals a 64 by yours truly. 2's reported on holes 6,8 and 10. The 6 on 7, 5's on 15 and 17 and a handful of 4's didn't help.

<font color="purple">SHERWOOD WINS 34 HOLE MANO Y MANO TRIPLE THREAT MATCH </font>
Final scores were:
Shark-110
Hawk-114
<font color="red"> Glen Wins Round One And Departs To Newlywed Central </font>
On my way to Pine Grove this morning, I was passed on the beltway by internationally famous HotOrNot model Glen Hatfield on his way to today's Tour stop. Upon arriving Professor Sherwood was also awaiting, so we had a threesome.
Final scores were:
Glen-56
Shark-62
Hawk-65
Things started of highly promising as both Mark and I deuced #1, and Glen took a four. :) Things quickly righted themselves though as I went OB on #2 for a circle five. Glen took another four. :oAt that point Glen shifted gears and rattled off 11 consecutive threes while Mark and I randomly carded 3's, 4's & the occasional five. We ran into Dean on #3 who was weed wacking the course beautifully. Curiously there was a sixsome behind us who acutally caught up to us, and then bypassed us in disgust due to our slow play. :oRevenge was had upon them as Mark found one of their discs (an 86 softie) and then soaked it (allegedly inadvertently) with a little Shark juice before returning it to them. Knowing what had happened to the disc and watching Mark run up to them later holding it above his head is an image that is unfortunately seared into the minds of Glen and I.
Scores after the front nine were:
Glen-29
Shark-30
Hawk-33
Glen was still looking for a deuce when he parked #10 with a Teebird by banking it off the ballfield fence and coming to rest 10' away. Unfortunately he doinked it. He did finally break through though when he deuced #'s 14 & 17. Meanwhile Mark was giving me a chance to close the gap a little until I took a circle six on #16 by once again sailing up the hill and into the outfield. Mark took a circle four on #17 by going a little too far left 20' off the tee.
Scores on the back nine were:
Glen-27
Shark-32
Hawk-32
As were were walking up to the parking lot Glen's cell phone rang, and he had an entertaining conversation with Mrs. Glen in Italian. He departed the Tour at that point, and Mark and I ventured on to Goucher.
<font color="green">Sherwood Claws Back To Tie Hawk During Goucher Round. </font>
Going into round two Mark was three strokes (four thanks to the tag tie rule :p ) cushioned from my 70 tag. On hole one he sha(r)nks into the tennis courts and takes a circle five. :oI deuce the hole making a putt of decent length. Overall match tied! :cool:On #2 I hit a tree off the tee and recover for the three, but Mark deuces it by hitting a longer putt than the one I had just made. :( We threed along until I yanked my approach to #6 pin high to the right about 20' and botched the putt to the basket on the hill. Another tree and missed putt on #9 allowed Mark to tie me for the round.
Final scores were:
Hawk-28
Mark-28
Off to Silver Creek for the first ever Tour stop there. :)
<font color="blue">Sherwood Conquers The Creek </font>
We arrived at Silver Creek to find it as usual nearly empty. There were two locals tossing some discs around on the backside as we began our round. As expected it involved a tee box scanvenger hunt. We played the "pro" tees when we could find them which turned out to be holes 2, 4, & 5. We teed off based on my memories of the one round I played there when it first opened last year. They really need some low visibility but permanent markers out there like numbered rocks embedded in the gound. Silver Creek like Goucher and Pine Grove was nicely mowed.
We three along the first four holes of seven until my air shot on #5 was not nearly as successful as Mark's Panther roller. He continued the three steak while I took the round losing four. We both deuced #7 wooing the neighborhood children who were playing a little sandlot baseball. Many of them recognized me as Blute from my appearance there last year, and Mark introduced himself as T squared and lectured them on the benefits of using a disc cart instead of a bag.
All in all an enjoyable afternoon of disc, though I think Silver Creek is going to need two more baskets and some legitimate tee markers to get another Tour stop out there. The Pine Grove/Goucher double header is definitely a keeper though.
Tomorrows Tour stop is a one rounder at Druid set to kick off at high noon. The gym closes at 1300 for the holiday so everyone needs to get there first before playing! :D

<font color="blue">SHARK SWIMS TO VICTORY AT WET DRUID </font>
Three of us played in an off and on mist from the metals today with Sherwood holding off Rich for the win.
Final scores were:
Shark-54
Rich-56
Hawk-60
Mark came out of the box hot deucing #1 while I took a five. It was the reverse of what happened to the two of us at Goucher yesterday. However I quickly evened things up by deucing #2 while Mark took fours on #'s 2 & 3. Rich played all eighteen without a deuce, but also without a five. Mark and I both deuced #5, and Mark followed that up with another self declared :D 42' putt on #6.
Scores after nine were:
Shark-26
Hawk-28
Rich-29
On the back nine my pre round workout coupled with the wet conditions lead to me being eliminated from the competiton rather quickly. Meanwhile Mark and Rich were handling the moisture much better. Still down three at #15, Rich picked up a stroke as Mark sailed into the trio of trees on the right side of the fairway. Now up by two Shark's shakey drive on #16 went high and right and somehow got through the upper branches of two trees for a park job. He makes the deuce to go back up three. Rich picks one back up on #17 as they go 3-4, but both took threes on #18 for the final margin.
Scores on the back nine were:
Rich-27

Rich,
I am prepared to take you on mano y mano with just our Good Times Aviars in a tag match. I'm looking at the usual high noon start as I don't want to be the first to arrive at the party...that's so declasse'. Anyone else is free to join us...if they dare. :D

<font color="blue">SHERWOOD WINS ANOTHER WET TOUR STOP </font>
<font color="purple">Special Guest Appearance By D.B. </font>
Five of us met for an unusually late start today at Seneca. Playing from the tips (i.e. the long tees, a.k.a. the reds) we kicked off at around 1700 as we awaited the Virginia traffic delayed Dr. Evil.
Final scores were:
Shark-62
Rich-67
Hawk-72
Brady-76
D.B.-77
Things started slowly for us as we all took 4's on #1. Shark and I unleashed rollers that both went into the parking lot, but mine managed to get out better. Mark's second shot though was very good bailing him out. Our first three was recorded by Rich on #2. The highlights of the round came next as Shark recorded back to back deuces on #'s 3 & 4. :) While there were many good shots to come, that was it for the deuces.
Disaster struck on #7 as I lost my primary green driver up at the tip top of a cedar. It was so far up there we couldn't even see it. :(
Scores after the front nine were:
Shark-29
Rich-32
Hawk-35
D.B.-36
Brady-37
The back nine started strangely on #10 as Rich lost a QLS that hit the cedars near the mando sign and vanished! No one saw it go right, and no one saw it go left, and it wasn't in either of the trees. Spooky! Then on #11 everyone gets a circle. Well Mark didn't so that means I got his for a double circle six. D.B., Rich and I all drove OB from the tee. Then Brady's second shot roller just missed coming back inbounds by three inches. Then my putt skidded under the rope OB. Let the Good Times<font color="red">* </font> roll! :D
On #15 I casually inquired of Brady how often he needs to swap drivers as he forehand rolls DX Eagles off of most tees. He acknowledged that he replaces them quite frequently, then proceeded to switch to a newer driver and roll it into the jail. :oD.B. carded the last circle of the evening by sticking in a tree on #16.
Scores on the back nine were;
Shark-33
Rich-35
Hawk-37
Brady-39
D.B.-41
It was a nice leisurely three hour round that was accentuated by the pleasure of watching water spray up off of rollers.
<font color="red">* </font> Speaking of Good Times, don't forget the Good Times pot luck picnic and Good Times one disc tag match tomorrow at high noon. Sherwood is threatening to use a Roc to the Aviars Rich and I have selected. See if the bigger disc gives him the added distance he needs on his home course. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
