I love it!!!!! Not one response i have gotten has been the same  Thats amazing. Usually sports consist of a certain group of people, this sport doesnt, which is why disc golf is so great. It brings people from all walks of life together. What other sport can say that of itself. Im going to go out on a limb here and say we have Everyone from a Brain surgen (sorry i cant spell im kind of faded) to Schweb who plays disc golf for a living. Thats my Dream by the way. To play disc golf for a living :D But thats what makes this sport so great. EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE can come and enjoy disc golf. Sure there is the "oh thats a STONER sport stereotype" but we all know that not to be true Ok well some of us are but hey there are stoners in every sport :o
Keep the responces coming.
Thanks alot guys

I am a self-employed "cable guy".
My favorite diverse card consisted of me, cable guy, an assistant attorney general, a retired NASA engineer, a physics professor at a major university and a medical doctor! By the time we finished the round, I knew how to design a disc, why it flew the way it did, the legal ramifications of copyrights and the best way to throw without hurting myself!
Oh, and they learned how to install cable. :D

Default Management - Property Preservation for the US Government.
I was just sitting at the bar ( no way ) last night and another fellow I didn't know yet mentioned something about my disc golf shirt, so we struck up some discussion on our great sport. He said one profound statement. "Disc golf and music bring the yuppies and the hippies together, nothing else". Might have misquoted a tad bit, but I think he was on the same track as the start of this thread. Our great sport brings all walks of life together for one great goal of a good time, the outdoors and lasting friendships.
Go meet a new golfer TODAY!!

Well, Lets See!! I served in the US Marines from 1994-98 then came home and worked and went to school for my degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement - Then 9/11 happened, so instead of hiring more officers every department did the exact opposite and went on a budget freeze. So, I am now working full time as a loss prevention officer (I catch people stealing) at a Grocery Store (AND YES PEOPLE STEAL AT GROCERY STORES). I just started back to school in December for IT Certifications.
So I guess we are all from different walks of life!
(I catch people stealing) at a Grocery Store (AND YES PEOPLE STEAL AT GROCERY STORES).
Tell me about it. I worked in retail grocery for 16 years and I caught a good many. One of the most notable was the retired Naval Reserve Officer who we caught wrapping containers of frozen orange juice in cardboard and store circulars and stashing them in his pants and socks. He had $400 in his wallet at the time. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill shoplifter...
Good luck on the IT thing...
Still working for the same place since 1986. My wife can't believe that I only had one job my entire life.

Pay sucks, no 401K, Health Insurance is good, vacation time is good.
Things were a lot better when I transfered from Bavaria in 1991. They gave me a car, a condo, a salary, extra cash, paid my utility bills....what happened?
Anyway, I have been going to Rutgers for quite a few years now, and I am getting close to getting a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences, so I'll update this thread in a few years when I have a different job. :D

I have wandered through a variety of occupations from working with my father in the pulp & firewood business, too pre-school teachers aide, security specialist, construction worker (from grunt to foreman), Insulator, Mechanic, Cop, School Bus Driver to owning my own businesses. I have had several small Businesses to include Restoring & selling VW Bugs, Handyman Service, Drywall Company and a Comic Book & Gaming Store.
In 1995 I started playing Disc Golf with my brother who had just retired from the Air Force. We liked the sport so much we started work on Enman Field Disc Golf and opened The Beast June of 96 the Beauty followed in 97. I went back to driving bus part time and running the course the rest of the time. In 2000 I started work on my second disc golf location although it as seen play for the last three years I will be having it’s Grand Opening this May. Also in 2000 I quit driving School Bus and became a full time Disc Golf Course Owner. I have probably left out some of the trades and occupations I have tried but they matter little now that I found what I have been searching for.

The digital photographers have cut the buisness drastically, but I live in High Point, the furniture capital of the world. Have you heard of our Furniture Market? So how much does Innova 'pay' these guys that they sponsor? From my understanding, it's nothing. They get some discs, some shirts, maybe a bag, and a few paid entry fees.
Add that to the 6K he's earned so far this year...and he's made less of a living (playing disc golf) than a 16 year old kid who works at Arby's part-time after school.
But if that's all he truly does...gets by on 6K-10K per year...then more power to him. 'Cuase I know I wouldn't give up my lifestyle and creature comforts for the life of a vagabond disc golf junkie. But to each their own.

Give The Kid a BREAK already!
He's A KID! He's not worried about making millions or feeding a family - he's got a family to feed him! He's a full time student and full time disc golfer - I only wish my college job were as cool or fun or fulfilling.
Kudos and Congrats to The Kid for balancing school and Disc Golf and coming out on TOP.
Right-on, let him do that [*****] now while he's young enough to enjoy it! There will be plenty of time later in life to worry about the mortgage, the car payments, the kids, and all of that crap. IF he can still balance school and a pro disc golf career I stand behind him 100%, and obviously Innova-Champion discs does too!
Not too mention the kid has already racked up close to 6K in prize money this year alone, and the year is not over yet, and that's only in PDGA sanctioned prize money. I'd be willing to bet he supplements that with local weeklies, ace-pots, side-bets, etc...by the end of the year that kid at Arbys is not going to have made near as much money, have cholesterol problems, and hate his lame-[*****] job.

I'm your server too at Amalfis Italian Restaurant. Funny thing is some of my tables are golfers, and not cuz they've ever met me, I overhear a lot at work, and my most regular table( literally 5 times a week) own their own sporting supply company Injection molding, foilstamp printing, probably anything. And all I did was serve their vittles up and keep it light. Now one wants an 01 roc,B/C he knows the collectability factor of our prized possesions. I've even showed of some of my dyed handiwork and was well recieved. these guys never even heard of our sport! Till a little tableside DISCussion happened.

**** girl!!!!!!! Where do you get time to golf???
I work in the accounting dept. for a large excavating company. I interpret the chicken scratchings of foreman and haggle with engineers and general contractors so we can get paid for the work we do. I also help with computer problems that may occur in the office. I worked in the field running heavy equipment for a few years but that stuff scares me too much so I work in an office where it is safe (for the most part). But since I live in MI we don't do much work in the winter so I fill my days up right here on the board. I don't know what I will do this spring when I can't screw around all day and have to do real actual work.
I also own a disc golf retail store with my wife. She works at the store and I do the accounting. I work there on Saturdays for about a disc an hour. :)

Writer? That's a little vauge.
I'm a writer also. Of the Technical variety (I write technical documentation---API Reference Guides, User's Guides, Online Help systems, Installation and Configuration Guides---for a software/hardware company).
What kind of writing do you do for a living? MarCom, comic books, medical journals, newspaper reporter, etc.?
Just curious.

You dont need to tell me that. Growing up my dad was gone before i got up in the morning and not back untill after i went to bed at nite. Working 100+ hour weeks ALL THE TIME. I never really got to know him till just about now and ill be 22 tomorrow. Ill tell you what though. All the hard work he did back then kept me my sister and mom in good living and now he gets to kick back and relax unless there is a serious problem at the office. The place pretty much runs itself now and i get to spend alot more time with him.
