Most of you know that we, the body of the ADGA, voted in the $2 ace pot at the '03 club championships. Due to this, i believe that we will see some of those HUGE ace pots of yesteryear.

Currently(as of 12/14/03), the ADGA's Sunday ace pot is $500 with approx. $200 in the backup ace pot. Hopefully with the holiday season ending, warmer weather approaching, and some just plain poor golf, we'll be able to see some of those HUGE, yesteryear ADGA, and Z-Boaz-esque ace pots.

Will someone please turn the wind-o-stat down? 10-20mph is bearable, yesterday's 30-40 was little bit on the ridiculous side.

I find it very unlikely there will be huge ace pots at Veterans. Hole 15 & 16 have ACE ME written all over them. It's a nice thought.

Jan 03 2004, 08:17 PM
LMAO@deezee! $580 + entries tomorrow morning at the Sunday mini!!!! Holes 15 and 16 must not have "ACE ME" written large enough for us to read :D

Jan 05 2004, 08:19 AM
Somewhere around $640+ going into next Sunday. :D

dannyreeves
Jan 05 2004, 01:56 PM
16 is not an easy ace when it is in the long position.

Jan 06 2004, 12:36 PM
Just curious, but since you guys dont cap at $599, are you fulfilling the legal/tax obligations, of giving the winner a 1099 form along with it?

I know thats why we cap at 500, and begin a second pot....

The taxman will be catching up with our sport in the very near future, I woudl bet.....especially, since we are coming out of the shadows.....

jasonc
Jan 06 2004, 03:33 PM
It's up to them to claim it I guess, since I've never seen Toolen give out a 1099. We do cap at $500 and build a back-up to $250, then run the original pot to $750 and cap it again(which shouldn't be too long). After that we run the back-up to $500, then let the original go as high as it can get. I'll be moving some baskets short this week, so come out and take your shot at $600++++++

dannyreeves
Jan 06 2004, 03:41 PM
Many people make a lot more than $600 and don't claim it to the IRS. Mainly becuase how they are making it isn't exactly legal. ;)

my_hero
Jan 06 2004, 03:48 PM
JC.

Actually, a third ace pot is capped at $250 before the big one grows. So we have one capped at 750, 500, and 250...then the 750 runs until....CHA-CHING!!!!!!

It sure was nice back in the day to have a $500 and a $250 acepot to shoot at after the $750+ was taken. I remember those days...................

Jan 06 2004, 05:37 PM
Not to be a downer, but Schmack D. is correct in stating the legality and surfacing visability of our fun. This has been addressed for many moons and the decision is always to not decide on change. This gun may be loaded!!

jasonc
Jan 07 2004, 09:05 AM
Thanks John, forgot about the third pot. It's been awhile since we even had the chance at building one!

Jan 12 2004, 12:31 PM
Great Ace James!!!!! Big Bucks. I got that one warming up for VPO. Got $5 from the World Champ--B Schultz and Women's Champ D Reading----Not $700 but still sweeet.

Jan 13 2004, 09:22 AM
Thank you, Jay

Talk about bad DISC karma hitting one in warm ups.

If I was going to hit one in warm ups I would'nt mind having that kind of crowd hanging out with me.

That would still be a DISC to hang on the wall with two World Champs signatures on it. :)

Jan 17 2004, 10:50 AM

Was the Vet's wed night ace hit?

jasonc

May 10 2004, 12:47 AM
Don't thank me for all the work that has been going on lately. DON Q is the man behind the ideas and all of the labor. Went out Saturday to lend a hand and about 12 people I have never even seen before showed up to help!!! Turns out Don's been bribing the casuals that he meets at the park with free discs for labor.....Brilliant :D Most of them that showed up weren't just there for a free disc though, they actually said they were glad to have the opportunity to help do something at the course. I was really impressed with the way Don organized everything and the amount of help he could get to come out, especially from "casuals", and I think it helped them feel more involved. The wall looks great around the long bucket but still lacks one more work day to get it complete, after that it's on to the short pin. HATS OFF TO DON Q FOR ALL OF HIS HARD WORK :D:D;)

dannyreeves
May 10 2004, 10:14 AM

jasonc
May 10 2004, 08:23 PM
And check out the top of the wall........Q and Toolen had the idea to turn some of the rocks up and in(towards the direction the bikers would be coming in), they are not sharp enough to cut a tire or hurt anyone, but would definately taco a rim :D:D:D

The top of the walls are to each have rocks pointed upward to keep the bmx'ers off the hill. It is in cooperation with the Parks Director. The walls were erected to help stop erosion, while at the same time keeping the difficulty of the course.

jasonc
May 11 2004, 02:26 PM
I don't know if it has ever happened before, but if 50 people show up tomorrow night we will have to cap the Ace at $500 and start building a backup pot!!!

my_hero
May 11 2004, 02:55 PM
It has happened before, but it's been quite some time since then. Good Luck taking it.

Looks like Grapevine's ace pot will go over 500 as well. GV's ace starts at 470ish. Grapevine doesn't cap ace pots, instead they hold 20% of the pot to start the next week with. Meaning, if you ace, you take 80% of the pot.

jasonc
May 18 2004, 11:52 PM
The McGough's should be present in Wimberley this weekend, so don't sweat it Danielle. This week we will be sporting a $500 ACE POT for the Wednesday mini, unless we have less than 6 members show up......What are the odds of that. Someone please hit this Ace pot :D, running minis with 65++++ people isn't that much fun

my_hero
May 19 2004, 11:52 AM
Terry and i were just talking about this $500 ace pot. It has NEVER been this high on a Wed night. We got really close last year, or the year before last, but that was $1 at a time. Things happen much quicker with this $2 ace pot!

We were also discussing how crazy it is that Veterans is getting 50-65 players each week, and Grapevine is getting 30-45 players each Wed night. That is 80-110 people golfing on Wed nights only 18 miles apart!!!! Of course, those 18 miles can take more than an hour in 5 o'clock traffic.

So, if you cant make VETERANS, dont forget about Grapevine. Come take a shot at 80% of $600ish.

Both parks take signups between 5:15 - 6:00.

Start promptly at 6:15!!!!!

jasonc
May 20 2004, 09:39 AM
Well the Ace finally went down last night. James hit hole 15 for $500........At least we were able to get $81 in the backup for next Wednesday :D Sunday remains at $750, so you still have a chance for big $$$$$$ at the Vet.

May 27 2004, 12:03 PM
Well, a local kiddo hit hole #1 with a skip shot last night. It was worth 80% of $700, or $560!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was his 1st ace for cashola.

So, next week we'll be shooting at 80% of $140 + entries.

okcacehole
May 28 2004, 12:05 AM
Must I ask what is the 80% deal?

do you just always play for 80% of the pot, so it leaves a nice reserve..????

As we have done every other holiday weekend the ADGA will be doing Team Golf on Monday May 30th. Sign-up until 9:45 Start should be around 10:30. This has always been a fun format so please come out and participate. Also there will be a workday this Saturday starting around 9:30....Thanks Don Q.

May 28 2004, 12:02 PM
Thanks Jason, but just a few corrections. Monday is the 31st and we start seeding at 9:30 with a 10 am start for Team golf on Monday. This is match play by divisions. $5 per player Very fun format!

The work day starts at 10 am tomorrow and we need trucks and bodies to move rock for hole 7's erosion control. We are only going to move rock so it will not be an all day deal, but I would like to have enough rock to start some walls on 7 next week.

Everyone who makes it out for the work day will receive a disc of their choice out of the Work day box!

Sundays ace pot is $750 and we will be close to capping the second at $500! Wed night had 91 in the back up plus whatever we added to it on wed, so it will be 200+ next wed.

I would like to announce that the Saturday of June 26 was scheduled to be the McKinney Open as we did last year. This year the event will be located in Denton and called surprisingly the Denton Open.

Due to unknown (or planned) scheduling conflicts with the City of McKinney we can not use that course that weekend. And if you take a look at the Texas schedule you will see that is it for dates.

I will be requesting C-tier sanctioning and capping the field at around 90 players due to only having 1 course.

The City of Denton is very supportive and look forward to us being there. More news next week on that.

I expect to have all the entry info on Titledisc by the end of next week.

So once more...no McKinney Open this year. The event is now...

Denton Open
PDGA C-tier
Saturday, June 26

Thanks

Boom :DI had a nice split and had the pleasure to see it from the box... If I had not seen it with my own eyes I would say it was luck. Clayton and Nolen were looking at the hole he hit right before he threw the shot and it hit the perfect line, smashed then spun in the bucket

Haven't gotten to that part of the article yet, I'll be sure to laugh loudly. I got pretty close to taking too...holes 2, 4, 5, and 9 were within 5 feet away. 5 could very well have hit it...you never know with those stupid blind holes! Did you win the mini with your -6? That must have been a decent payout with such a big open division...

jeterdawg
Apr 25 2005, 10:49 AM
Are you kidding?!?!? How much? I think I would have been 4th then? That sucks. What does the ADGA do with that kind of $? Keep it in the course fund? If I'd shot even I would have stayed, but +2 for open?!? I will say this though...I'll definitely play open from now on. I played a round before the mini since I don't get out much right now, and I was shooting -5 after hole 13. We kinda stopped playing after that one just trying crazy shots. I chunked a roller up 18, and it was settling and turning to the right when it hit some guy's bag leaving me with a 40 footer instead of a 10 footer! Not sure where the game went at mini time but it'll be back someday!

Apr 25 2005, 10:51 AM
If you cashed and did not stick around, the money goes down the line to the next best scores until it is handed out. VERY rarely does the club not pay it out to someone. If that is the case, it would go to the club fund!

bslamoreaux
Apr 25 2005, 11:50 AM

Congrats on finding the cash in open Brian. It's always nice to play on the same card with you. What makes it so nice is knowing that someone on the card is stranger than myself! :DShall i tell the world about the "package" you received on Friday? You're one sick individual! :o:D

BTW, the more you play Open, or the more often you play with people that are a tad bit better, the faster your game will improve.

Shame on you for speaking of my "package"..... :o And you think I'm stranger than you?

I enjoyed playing that round as well. The part that gets me is that like I should have played better. But even then, I'd only have gotten a couple of strokes back. Most of the open players at Veterans are more than just a "tad bit" better than me.

I'll continue to play open as long as I feel I am competing. We will see how long that lasts....

I guess since nobody is bragging, the ace pot is still intact?

$1721 is the ace pot plus entries for next week. Mike Kennedy hit hole 2 and splashed out in practice, but alas no ace!!!!!! We will not be shooting at the ace pot on May 22 for the Z to A doubles event on that weekend! Do you have a partner????

Funny thing about that John. I was getting ready to make a Mothers Day breakfast for Marlene. It is 7:00 am sunday morning and my phone rings. It is Ortega. He wants to know if we are shooting at the ace pot! Of Course, I tell him. He says he is thinking of bailing in Waco and heading back to Arlington for the mini. He said it was raining allot down there and he did not shoot to well on Saturday. Well thank goodness he did not quit! Or we wouldn't have an ace pot left.
