Terry, you've shot your wad. :o

Laura, that's a deal!!!!! $900 each is a good days work. :D

May 10 2005, 04:49 PM
No Sir!!!! I am just getting started for the year.

This will be the last weekend to hit the ace in short positions on certain holes. After this sunday everything will be moved to the long positions in order to prepare for the Z to A doubles! :D

sandalman
May 10 2005, 11:57 PM
six long fixed?

seven long up the hill?

14 back to long after two weeks? (john's bird is gonna look good in Own the Hole!)

18 back to long after two weeks? (my pair of birds is gonna look good too!)

May 11 2005, 10:34 AM
Six was repaired by Ken Cantrell.

Seven will tried to be moved for the event only.

14 and 18 can be moved back after the event.

sandalman
May 11 2005, 11:12 AM
move 14 backj short, but leave 18 long! :D

May 11 2005, 11:19 AM
Speaking of A-Z doubles, are there any Masters around who need a partner. I would like to play but don't know who is playing. As you may know, my partner has left the Great State of TX and moved on to greener forests. This being a sanctioned event, I need to play Advanced not Open. aktjr@charter.net

May 11 2005, 11:21 AM
I knw Charles Cox is looking for a partner. You might also want to try David Covalt!

sandalman
May 11 2005, 12:08 PM
i heard it was gonna be Q-Kennedy and Covalt-Geesa in open masters.

May 11 2005, 02:12 PM
Know how to get hold of Charles?

May 11 2005, 02:14 PM
And nice Avatar finally Sandalman, /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

May 11 2005, 03:15 PM
Yep, John BOOMhower and I are gonna see if we can accumulate some points to get a Worlds invite to Tulsa. Been slacking too much already this year.

I gotta win something, I am tired of paying for tournaments AND plastic

May 11 2005, 03:32 PM
Evil you have a PM

May 11 2005, 04:05 PM
Thanks Terry. I'll holler at him this evening. :D
I don't think the points are gonna be very good for <font color="yellow">SECOND </font> Brutha.

lauranovice
May 11 2005, 04:50 PM
Q is not playing the A-Z doubles.

May 11 2005, 05:34 PM
Now with Q I would play open. Too bad.......

May 13 2005, 12:04 PM
How come Q is not playing? Thought he was talking Kennedy into playing?!?!?

Should be great weather on sunday. Everyone come out and watch me hit a $1800 ace!!!!!! Should have at least 40 people in the ace pot, so we will be over the $1800 mark!!!

bslamoreaux
May 13 2005, 12:58 PM

Guess what your getting in your stocking! :oWhat you do with them after that is between you, the stinky hamster, and God! :o:o:p

Thanks to Claydog for donating an extra $1, Veteran's ace is now $ 1,800. There will be no shot at it next Sunday because of A-Z Doubles.(that you'll be participating in. :D)

May 22 2005, 06:28 PM

[I'm a potty-mouth!]? :) :p

May 26 2005, 10:05 AM
Another chance at the HUGE ace pot this sunday!!!! $1800 plus entries. Pep, if you do not go to Okieville, it is your turn to run the mini!! You have been notified!! :D
Sign up early (9:30) as I am sure it will be packed again.

On Monday May 30, we will play Team Golf!! We will start seeding at 9:30 and start at 10. This is a match play format and allot of fun!!! $5 per person.

How about BBQ afterwards?!?!? Anyone interested?!?!?

Wed nights ace pot is $114 plus entries for next week.

my_hero
May 26 2005, 10:08 AM
Pep...you better get there at 9am. I want to sign up at 9:01. :)

BTW, If you type c.e.n.s.o.r. without the periods you get "[I'm a potty-mouth!]." Now why would [I'm a potty-mouth!] be cens.ored? WTF?

sandalman
May 26 2005, 11:26 AM
actually, i told skip i would take it this week. now if Pep wants to thats cool, he can have it and i'll go next week. but the chances of Pep actually running a mini are about as good as getting an ace on hole 6 long! :D

May 26 2005, 11:29 AM
Hey I have ALMOST hit 6..........but alas, you are right! :D

My first ace was 6 short.

John are you trying to stir up trouble there?!?!?!?

sandalman
May 26 2005, 11:57 AM
and if you put html tags that dont do anything ... like < / B > inside of potty mouth words, you can escape the cen[/b]sors. the cen[/b]sors are g[/b]ay idi[/b]ots and mor[/b]ons who prefer dogs over pus[/b]sy.

ooops, almost forgot... :D

May 26 2005, 02:28 PM
I prefer dog over cat too. Cat is too stringy. :p

I will check with Juli on the team golf, but I am pretty sure we will be in. :)

sandalman
May 26 2005, 10:46 PM

reddman
May 26 2005, 11:55 PM
I've been there twice now. So far, I'm 5-0-1. I'll have a lot of family in town this weekend for a baby shower, but I hope to get out and play on Monday.

May 27 2005, 11:56 AM
Pep, Did you see that it is your week?!?!?!?! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyone interested in a BBQ after Team Golf??? We could go really cheap and just do dogs and burgers, but keep it minimal. Maybe a little CFO's too!!

Who has Z Boaz bag tags?? I bought this years first thing on Saturday at the A to Z. Somehow got #3. Was able to hold off Shawn Wasden to hang on to it for the first challenge on Wed Night. Guess I will have to put it up for all to try for on Sunday.

May 27 2005, 02:59 PM
BBQ sounds like a great idea.

May 27 2005, 03:01 PM
Maybe I will spend part of my $1800 on hotdogs :D

May 27 2005, 05:48 PM

May 27 2005, 07:00 PM
Hey Pat, Looks like Pep is not going to run Sunday, so can you plan on running it? That or I could do it!

sandalman
May 27 2005, 09:41 PM
i was planningin it all along :)

my mom's in town, so i WILL need a vehicle in which to sit... or i can hang under the tree if its not raining or up in the pavillion even either way. will need somewhere to stash the cash during the round.

So the Sunday mini ace pot is at $1800+ (will it be over $2000 with entries this week?)...but what about the Wed. mini for tonight?

Jun 01 2005, 11:32 AM
Sunday is going to be $1870 plus entries.

Wednesday Nights mini ace pot starts at $114 tonight

my_hero
Jun 04 2005, 12:44 AM
I find it very unlikely there will be huge ace pots at Veterans. Hole 15 &amp; 16 have ACE ME written all over them. It's a nice thought. <font color="purple"> </font>

$1,870 + entries at the Sunday mini!!!! Holes 15 and 16 must not have "<font color="red">ACE ME</font> " written large enough for us to read :p

sandalman
Jun 04 2005, 01:35 AM
16 in long is a dam difficult ace. 2, 4, 9, even 5, 10, and 11, probably offer better chances for an ace.

Jun 04 2005, 05:25 AM
Who is in charge of that?

That's why. :)

27dogs
Jun 04 2005, 09:53 AM
you forgot hole 8 and 13 and 15 which are possible.

sandalman
Jun 04 2005, 01:43 PM
hole 8 is possible for the top 0.5% of the world's players. its long now.

hole 13 is also long, and while possible, is out of reach for at least 65% of the players. at least hole 16 is reachable by everyone.

and hole 15 was mentioned in the original post, fool! :D

27dogs
Jun 04 2005, 02:42 PM
doh!!!! i meant hole 7 not 8, my bad.

my_hero
Jun 04 2005, 03:08 PM
To my knowledge, Dave O. from Dallas, is the only one to have aced hole #7.....and he did it with a Scorpion in the early 90's...before the drought that killed some KEY trees!

sandalman
Jun 04 2005, 03:33 PM
really??? that kinda surprises me. well, actually even tho its a hyzer for righties, there are the blocker trees above the basket that make it tough for hyzers. it plays pretty sweet for lefties, even though there is no hyzer - its an S. a case where first glance says righty, but deeper analysis reveals it as more lefty-favorable.

my_hero
Jun 04 2005, 06:24 PM
Babies are great! Ryan got really tired and cranky 10 minutes before the wedding. Amy sent me and the kiddo home! Yee-Haw!!!! (We were there 2 hours before for pictures.)

Back to hole #7....remember, the was a huge tree 33% of the way down the fairway that pushed the righty hyzer higher than the ace line that we have today. You basically were playing tree lotto back then. I've hit metal 3 times, 2 pans and a number plate, never the net. Justin Kerr splashed out at the club champs in Oct.

Ironically enough, hole #7 now used to be hole #15 :D

sandalman
Jun 04 2005, 09:02 PM
um... whats ironic about that?

my_hero
Jun 05 2005, 12:06 AM
um... whats ironic about that?

Well, if you didn't know that the course layout changed in 1997, then you'd wonder why the hell someone was saying #15 has ACE ME written all over it. :D( i know......it was a stretch! ) :D

sandalman
Jun 05 2005, 12:13 AM
even if i had no idea of the old layout, i'd think that saying #15 has ACE ME written all over it is stating the obvious.

john, you need to get out more :D

Jun 06 2005, 04:12 PM

my_hero

It went OVER $ 2,000 last Sunday! Will it top the amount that Z-Boaz's ace did a few years ago?.....Not if i have a say in anything! :D

What's the official number Toolen?.......and don't start any trouble here. :D

Jun 15 2005, 10:46 AM
$2026 in the main ace pot. We still have the 2 back up pots of $500 and $250. John, you can just stay away from the ace pot, because I am hitting it on Sunday! Fathers Day would be fitting for me to hit the ace since I have 6 kids at home for the summer!!!!!

cgflesner
Jun 15 2005, 12:20 PM
That would be a sweet ace!!! :D

I will be going after hole #4 and #9 on Sunday. ;)

my_hero

Yes, 4 and 9 for sure....but also 2, 5, 7, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 17. Lots of *CHANCES*!

Chris, I haven't forgot about the X-Pred...what kind of Quality stuff do you throw? :D

bslamoreaux

In John's world, "quality" only means one thing. DISCRAFT!

lauranovice
Jun 15 2005, 07:12 PM

Starts at $ 2,026 this Sunday. It could be a very large mini on Sunday. The ace pot could leap another $150 if/when 75 players show up on Sunday. Will it top The Famous Z-Boaz ace that was worth $ 2,784?

discgolfdog
Jun 16 2005, 06:25 PM

lauranovice
Jun 17 2005, 12:10 PM
I may be the only woman playing Sunday. Juli is out of town for the next couple weeks. With Pat C being out of town, Steph hasn't been coming out. So, it's up to Ginetta and if Tricia shows up. Otherwise, there won't be a full card of women.

Getting back to Brian, I'm not sure, Clay, but I think there might be something in the rules about not mixing species on the cards. So, Brian can't have his little friends on his card. He'll just have to keep them where he usually keeps them...where we can't see them. :o

my_hero
Jun 17 2005, 12:15 PM
Mixing the divisions is a great idea. We haven't done that since Clay and I were running mini's....15 months or more!

Lamoreaux and his "Friends" need to start really far away from the rest of us. No telling what they plan on doing once they get back into the woods. Check out Brian's new threads:

Yes, but we don't watch PBS while working...
and my manager is [I'm a potty-mouth!].
The Mickey mouse photo is not too bad, but please link them next time so we have a choice to not view until we get home. Heck, if I get fired over the discussion board, it will probably be that I'm on it too much rather than what's on it. We don't get breaks and I need a mind clearing alternative to assist in moving on to the next case. This, to me, is a good choice.
Of course, while you were typing this we were having a discussion between another co-worker and my manager as to which was hotter, Elton John or Freddy Mercury.

my_hero
Jun 17 2005, 01:41 PM
Pat has administrative perks. :D

sandalman
Jun 17 2005, 02:01 PM
but not that type.

really its simple. you only have to know two thing... first, how the system does its censo[/b]ring, and second, how a web page interprets HTML code tags.

the first one is easy... it simply compares all the letters between spaces against the bad words list.

for the HTML part, the trick is that webpages treat characters between brackets as HTML tags. < and > are brackets. for example < / B > , which means "end bold"... so if you simply put an HTML tag inside of a word, the result is that is gets ignored.

but, it also makes the word not match the bad word list, so it gets displayed just like ya want it.

:D

oh, geez, Pat, I can't even work the DVD player.
Everyone that knows me knows I am not a potty-mouth!
The worst word I use on the course is poo, and that word usually gets a bunch of giggles.
g-a-y is NOT a bad word. Yes, any board administrator that would blindly not allow a word expressing someone's orientation is not good. Geez, it allows us to describe Brian's alleged relationship with hamsters, but not my manager's relations with the people he is attracted to? That is sooo wrong.
BTW, I should have just taken the day off 'cause I cannot force myself to work. I finally just told a co-worker I am definitely coming in tomorrow and will hopefully be in the mood to work.

That is possibly one of the message board's GREATEST POSTS!

It took like a year or two before i wasn't associated with the word Salad anymore. I wonder how long it will be before the Hamsters find their way out of Brian. <font color="red"> OH SNAP! </font> I meant i wonder how long it will be before we quit associating Brian with Hamsters. :o

I take it by the lack of posts that the ace pot survived again. I'll be out of town for the next two, so maybe it will keep it up a little longer!

I was driving past Veteran's the other day on the way to the Walgreens and noticed the car in front of me had the license plate (from Texas) "PDGA" and was wondering whose car that is. It was just so random...I tried to take a picture with my phone, but the plate didn't show up.

As often as you talk about the ace pot, how come we NEVER see you? It's going to be REALLY HARD for you to hit the ace when you are not at the park, but that does increase my chances.:DI hope it lasts at least long enough for you and the BIG D.R. to get ONE shot at it!

I always plan on coming, and then something ALWAYS comes up to keep me from going. Vacation is going to keep me away this weekend, and probably the following one too. But the next weekend, I'm definitely there.

I know yesterday was father's day, but I was still going to be there until my wife made plans with her parents without asking me!!! DOH!!!

I wish the Vet mini's were on Saturday morning...I'd be much more likely to make them. By the way, I've taken two shots at the current pot. Only two came close.

just got back from my luinchtime rounds at saginaw, and am now the proud owner of a brand new ACE DISC! hole #1, which i was playing as my fifth hole, 2004 Ace Race yellow... just a sweet flight down the left side of the line, a stall at and then a gentle dropin for the ONE.

<font color="purple"> i'm coming for my money on sunday! </font>

now.. do i retire that disc or not...?

my_hero

If you retire it, i found 2 more in "The Closet". They have the "I aced...." stamp, because the 2 people that were suppossed to receive them are impossible to get in touch with. I made contact with them 2 months after the ace race, but they never showed up when we were to meet. They are brothers. The Ireland brothers. Jun 24 2005, 06:13 PM

sandalman
Jun 30 2005, 12:07 PM
how do you figure that???

cgflesner
Jun 30 2005, 12:26 PM
hole 2, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15 are all righty holes.

hole 4, and 7 have lefty lines.

so its a 33.3% better chance for a righty.

sandalman
Jun 30 2005, 12:42 PM
oh my...

hole 2, very slight advantage to righty
hole 5, slight advantage to righty
hole 9, maybe a slight advantage for righty (i guess you dont know about the lefty hyzer there)
hole 10, extremely slight advantage to righty
hole 11, a barely discernible advantage to righty
hole 15, you gotta be kidding me. this one is as even as they get

hole 4, teeny weeny itsy bitsy advantage to lefty
hole 7, ever so minimal advantage to lefty

and you forgot:

hole 16, advantage lefty
hole 17, slight advantage lefty
hole 18, slight advantage lefty

and even hole 13, which may arguably have a lefty advantage depending on wind conditions (if the righty annie is there or not)

my_hero
Jun 30 2005, 01:24 PM
Actually hole 15 is a LEFTY hole. Easy hyzer over the left side....huge pocket in the trees above the basket. I've been throwing a 2 finger there, and if you've looked at the Own The Hole stats, you'll see that i rarely 3 the hole. I've been off of the number plate a dozen times throwing the 2 finger.

sandalman
Jun 30 2005, 01:56 PM
hole 15 is even. it may seem lefty cuz when the lefty hyzer (or RHFH) misses its a 6 foot gimme. when the righty misses it can be a 50' comeback from the skip! but the righty skip has just as legitimate a chance as the HBomb

my_hero
Jun 30 2005, 02:07 PM
Sorry, it's not even. The righty line is much tougher to hit than hitting the giant blue TX sky that the lefty gets to throw. Which is why i "become" a lefty by throwing a right handed 2 finger shot.

Well that really sucks...one week in the shorts and BOOM goes the dynamite! I knew it would be #16, just knew it. Are they going to stay short now for a couple of weeks? It's nice to shoot under par...helps with the confidence!

By the way, did anyone catch the article in the Star-Telegram? It's pretty good, and pretty accurate. I'm not so sure having 5 courses on a map should include Saginaw though...
It's right next to a Tour de Lance article, seems very fitting! It rates the necessary energy as the equivalent to a coach potato. I think it's at least as demanding as "weekend warrior--rec league athletes," at least at Veteran's...in the summer!

That little dude didn't make a peep nor move around when it was someone's turn to throw (other than mine). It was a complete shocker. He only made it through 11 holes though, holes 2-12. If you know The Vet then you know it was the hilliest part of the course. I had to call Mrs_Hero in for the rescue. Next time i'll have the off road jogger with us and he can ride for a few holes.

Nice discs, Luke Skywalker. I am your father.

To address the question of most aced hole I'd like to point out that hole #6 ( old #14 ) has been here from the beginning. Even though the new #15 and the new #9 are catching up, I still think it's been aced more than any other hole, and since we hardly ever play it short anymore it probably will get passed.

P.S.
It has never been aced in the long position even though there are a few monster arms that can frighten it. I once stood at the box and watched Sam Grizzafi do a magnificent 360 and put an Aviar on a line drive that passed chain high about 2 ft. left. An awesome awesome throw.

...and i've seen Dean Burton crash left side chains as we all watched the disc ricochet off to the left. Wow.

I have splashed out twice on that basket in the long pin position. Both with the same disc. Beat in Star destroyer.

That was a sweet shot when you hit the tree one foot to the right of the chains. I thought that was an ace for sure! Yall leave that ace alone this sun when im at states. :(

Let's make a deal.

If i hit it sunday I'll give you 20% of the ace pot as long as you give me 20% of your winnings from States.

Deal or no deal?

Congrats to Jeremy Lockwood for knocking down #9 for $ 1,428. The disc he threw just so happened to be the same disc that he aced with in Crowley for another $ 1,400+!!! That disc is worth a lot of cash! Congrats!

Oh, almost forgot......the kid card won again. ;) :D

Put that one with the $1600+ that Shugart won there and all the smaller pots hit on #9, that hole has given up more than $4000.

I agree. Hey all, what about a sleeve across the path behind the long position? It would play a bit like #13 long at Bear Creek. There's only so much we can do on that hole.

<font color="red"> The difference between the two holes/courses is that the trail you are proposing to throw across is heavily traveled at Veteran's. It would be a safety issue that the city probably wouldn't go for. Maybe the solution is to extend the hole longer and little more right from the previous short pin. There's some good land right behind that big sandy mound on the edge of the woods there.

Another difference is, at GV there's a risk/reward shot on 13. Take the risk of shooting through the sky hole the size of a hulahoop and you have a shot at birdie, otherwise skip a shot to the layup area and proceed from there. At the Vet, the sky's the limit, nobody would throw that skip shot. Everyone would <font color="black"> simply </font> bomb a hyzer over the *old long pin* and play tree lotto to your new green. Just food for thought. </font>

You have a point there jiggly-one. (so that's why you always wear a hat!). A new sleeve long right might be the way to go.

why not just move it to the short pin every once in a while, you still got a risk reward with the creek behind the bucket, and you switch it up and give people a different shot, there is nothing wrong with having a birdiable hole, they dont all have to be monsters

"Question becomes, can union lawyers save jobs?"
I guess we'll find out soon enough, my guess is they don't care.
D.T. I really don't like the short position on #9. If you throw the correct route there's no risk at all of the creek coming into play, only big rewards. The short has been hit for the ace more than the long. Last time the ace lasted about two weeks in the short before Pepper got it. It's been awhile so it probably does need to move until we can figure something out.

Got an email from Martin, (that's rarely a good thing). Sunday April 20th holes 1, 2, and 3 will be closed because of earth day stuff. They will be using the south parking lot and the field for parking. I've asked permission to put some temp. baskets in the north field for our mini, and let us park in the north lot. More to come as I know.
