Last year we had a great turnout and looking for the same this year. The course will be in great shape. New this year to the format will be a reverse of last year. We will be playing all Championship tee pads the first round and everything will get shorter from there. The last round will include the short tee pads . These are the Tee Pads we use for the Wednesday night mini's. We should be finished up very early and get everyone out of the heat as soon as possible. As with all ADGA events there will be plenty water to keep everyone refreshed. Hope to see everyone here!
Am I missing something..I just went to Titledisc and I didn't see this tourney listed on their yet...????
sounds like fun steamboat, I will definatly be there, I like the reverse formay too, that means you arent so tired for the long stuff on sunday.

Adam,
It should be up very shortly!! We will be having a work day next saturday. We could use some wheel barrows and shovels. Anytime you can spare woudl be great! Call me if you need some information.

You Texas boys and girls are sure rowdy on any other post on this board, yet this one keeps stalling...Are we going to have a good turn-out here or what?...Titledisc doesn't seem to have it up yet, but you can contact Terry and get your information to him. Let's make this Championship course swarm with the greatest golfers across the state ( and other states). 1st round longest t-pads and shorter all the way from there..get registered guys and gals

We will be working at the park EVERY night this week to try and get the course in the best shape possible for this event. Toolen and myself will be there around 6:30, if anyone has a little free time we could definately use the assistance.
On another topic Daniel Stacey came down from OKIE land this weekend to get a warm-up for the Fling and shoot at the ZBOAZ ace pot. He and Nolan tied at Vet's(both -6) and then he edged Nolan out at ZBOAZ. I'm hoping this makes for an interesting match up this weekend between two very good golfers.
What did Daniel shoot at ZBoaz?
jasonc
Jul 14 2003, 11:59 AM
I think -3. Nolan shot -2 and TOOLEN took cash shooting -1(where the hell did that come from).

2001: troy berry and chas cox took the nov world by storm and left burned corpses in their wake.
2002: troy berry and chas cox continue to wreak havoc in the intermediate field, proving that guys under 5'6" got game.
2003: advance field here we come! are you ready?
so all you guys and gals,(not speaking directly to you adam "okc" murphy), get ready, as friday night kicks off a new era in the world of disc golf. team b/c (blastin chains) starts their dominance of the adv world, or at least battle not to wind up dfl......

all i gotta say is mr murphy, if you look long enough and dream hard enough even the rangers will be a good team from time to time if you get my drift. we will keep a spot open for you in adv div when you are ready to be smacked around, like we are......and by the way, you can take the golfer out of okc but you can't take away his desire to continue to play on courses that are easier than zboaz and the mighty vet...

Let it go, last time I checked we weren't in high school anymore and I personally have allot better things to do with my time. Come on down for the FLING, I'm working on the course tonight to make sure it's in the best condition possible. Can't beat it great course, great TD, great staff, great club, and great people. Good Luck to all the North Texas golfers this weekend! I wish that I could be there to play, but if I did something would prevent me from playing, like the last two years.
Jason, like I said before some players will [*****] if they won the lottery. This YEAhimawhiner person can't tell who he is because he's afraid of other peoples opinion of him. You on the other hand stood up for what you believe in, that is the sign of a secure individual. You did the right thing, overlooking it next time would be a bad change!
Good luck this weekend/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Jason, there are more players that will support you than will harras you. Trust me, I know. There have been players kicked out of 4 tournaments in this region in the last year for "smoking". From what I hear, one of them has not learned is lesson.
For those of you who are playing this weekend. Steamboat will not put up with this behavior at his tournaments either. (IE VPO am weekend) There are no warnings!!!!!!
These players need to learn how to respect there TD's, the PDGA and thier fellow players and keep it in the privacy of there homes.
I thank you for putting your foot down and helping out the TD run a cleaner event.

Skip, we will try to make VPO, if work will allow it. I will tell her you said hello. There is a course 10 minutes from home that is longer than the Vet, but not as hard. The name of the park is Central park in Cumming(no jokes please?)
The other Atlanta courses are pretty short, and somewhat technical. But they are to far away to play on a regular basis. Tell everyone that I said Hello... /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

If y'all like, I can try and come out to Veteran's between rounds on Saturday and Sunday and wander around. I won't be playing, and I am a PDGA official, so it won't affect my game to 805.04 somebody.
I'm not saying this to be a smart@$$. I wan't the sport to grow and have a good rep.
On the other hand, I doubt that there will be any spectators at a C-tier in hundred degree weather, so there really may not be any need for having a presence there.

Jul 16 2003, 07:21 PM
This isn't a witch hunt, we just want players to respect the rules and abide by them to promote disc golf. I, myself, am a PDGA official and have dealt with this personally at the tournament mentioned above. I don't think this will be a problem, but people sure enjoy discussing it every chance they get. Straight edgers and dopers alike, promote the sport and the players, not the bad aspects.

Steamboat..Am's and Nov' want the Championship pads..I would bet money that am-nov cards finish them in the same time as the pro's. even after searching for their plastic..come on???? I haven't even seen the pain they are rumored to bring..we can hack it..Vote on Saturday morning????
Just a thought......
Adam, its called Int. and Rec, or MA2 and MA3, not Am and Nov. C'mon man, get with the program. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif
Hey, longer pads? I'm in!
BTW, I've just seen my new rating. Is there a division below MA3 I could play?
I would like to be there, but instead I think I will take a little drive up to KC this weekend. Have fun, but the way I hear it you may all suffer from heat stroke.
jasonc
Jul 17 2003, 09:18 AM
Rec and Am will get a chance to play most of the championship pads, but 8 is definately out of the question. We were trying to decide on letting them play 2 the other night, but never came to a decision on it. We're supposed to go over everything tonight so I'll let ya'll know for sure in the morning.
Well, whatever pads we play, please provide the PDGA with the proper info so that my rating can reflect my performance. Since New Mexico doesn't count now, I guess I'll just have to go out and mercilessly whip up on another batch of players. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif
One of the perks of playing Pro or Advanced is you get to play the "cool" holes. If you want to play the big holes, you've gotta play with the big boys.
Just my 2 cents.....

Welcome to the board Mr. Suarez/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif And the answer to your question is the type of person that works early in order to get off early. No Champion pads for rec or am, sorry guys. If you want to play the big boy pads play with the big boys(that's almost a quote from Toolen). Don't forget doubles sign-up is from 3PM to 6PM tomorrow at the south pavilion with a rolling start. Toolen will be there most of the afternoon and evening taking singups for the Fling and we will be taking in stragglers Saturday before 8:00 AM. If you were thinking of staffing instead of playing, play instead. We have more than enough staff(thank you to all the volunteers). There will be plenty of water on the course for everyone so please DRINK IT. If you see a cooler that is out of water notify the next staff member that see, we don't want anyone having a heat stroke or suffering of dehydration. See you tomorrow evening.

now mr murph, if you want the oppurtunity to test your metal, just go ahead and move up.. it is as easy as that. those that are not skeered are stepping up and not waiting for next year....by the way, less than 24 hrs to go until team genitals shows you how it is supposed to be done. hope we have the same tee pads tomorrow. if not, we should still take you by at least 2-3 strokes...
Listen to all that AM bashing. Every tourney I play in, Pro and Advanced players are the last to finish! All of us AMs have to wait for you bunch of PROMADONA's to finish prancing around on the tee box so we can throw. Then we get to stand around and be called baggers even when most of us have barely been playing a year. The only way this sport will continue to grow is by gaining more AM players. Nobody starts out in the PRO division. Check your attitude next time, before you bash the AM guys.
Oh ya, I was dying to throw from the champ pads...hehehe. Darn..lol. Playing four rounds in 2 days is pleanty for me. I think most of the am players will feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, AMs have fun throwing the longer pads too. We just don't like keeping score when we do it. lol

No thanks...I'll move up when I want..MA2/3 with a NOV ranking (i.e mark above: I can't get used to this new # system). Looking forward to a great weekend with my new TX family and my old Okies that made the drive
BIll, Thanks, but we have plenty of officals at the course for the weekend.
As Jason said, the open and advanced divisions will be playing the Championships pads. Nothing to do with anyone's ability, but thinking of time and heat wise. It will be a hot one saturday and We do not want anyone to get heat stroke!!
Everyone drink plenty of water tomorrow. We will have water on at least every other hole and bottles at the pavillion. IT is going to be a hot weekend and I want everyone to be safe!!!

I even got called a double bagger. Uh, double baggers don't shoot a 15 . /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif
Very hot day out there today! 72 players and already a couple haven DNF'd. Nolan gets longest drive off of the mountain on hole 8, but John Luecke had the CTP. Everything will be short tomorrow and short pads in the afternoon. Should make for some very low scores. Thanks to Jason and Ginetta Chamberlain, Chris Wren, Ben Singleton, Skip Maxwell, Shawn Wasden, Tim Payne, John Maiuro, Laura Pepperling, and all the staff! Everyone drink plenty of fluids tonight as tomorrow will be another hot one!!

When you shooting 12's each round and have sunstroke from the Saturday rounds, there wasn't much point in playing Sunday. I think I am still sweating after 12hrs in the a/c. Good luck to those who could stick it out and for those of us who didn't, there will be other tournies. I would like to thank Terry for running a great tourney, with water everywhere to keep us alive ( or close). Thank you also Jason for keeping our spirits up while the game was in the dumps. TP - talk anymore and you will be a puddle in the Woodson parking lot!!!!
Nolan Grider retains a 1 stroke lead, over Daniel Stacey. Nolan shot a dissapointing 2 under. On the shortys. 1:00 start for the wed. nite tiny holes. 2 aces this am. #13 and #9. By whom? Well I'm not a groupy!Wait and see. I have jpegs if someone can tell me how to share them! Just learning! Email at meister3969@aol.com EW! EDUB! E. Watauga, Go Nolan! "meister" Kinda hot out there?

Thanks Jose. I can't wait for the Classic! You know, last year's was my first tournament ever. Boomer beat me pretty bad. I will be back for revenge this year!
Sorry guys and gals for the delay. I came home and ate dinner and then was out like a light. Funny how hot you can get from just staffing! Just getting going now! Sure am glad I took the day off today! Anyway, here are your final results. Thanks again to all the sponsors and staff! We all had a great time! Even Ken Cantrell and the face plant in the parking lot saturday! 4 total aces hit. Tim Smith hit his first two aces. Hole # 9 the 3rd round and hole# 16 the 4th round. Charles Cox hit hole 13 the 3rd round and Brian Lindstrom hit the last ace during the 4th round on hole # 15. Total of $305 in the ace pot! Little Miller (Anthony) won the raffle basket and shot pretty well all weekend. Congrats, Anthony!! Could not have asked for a better staff! Jason and crew were awesome all weekend! How about that format?!?!?! Played from Longest to shortest. We were out of the park by 6. Awards over before 5! Well here you go. Got to finish the report and then I Might just go PLAY a round myself!!!

I just wanted to let Vinnie know that after the tourney was over I went down to the parking lot and, low and behold, there's Atwood with his feet in the cooler again. I really didn't know that a human being could sweat that much/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif. Thanks to everyone that came out and endured the grueling conditions that make this such an interesting event. I really want to thank all of the people that helped make it possible: Terry Toolen(of course), Tim Payne, My-Hero**AKA Mr. Quality**, Skip Maxwell, Shawn Wasden, Ben Singleton, Laura Pepperling, Beth Stacey, Chris Wren, and countless others I'm sure I'm forgetting. See you August 9th for the GDS tour event at Veteran's. Maybe since it's only 2 rounds Mr. Murphy will make it all the way through/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif
Yes, and I turned on several others to the greatness of Vinnie's "Cooler Feet Will Prevail" idea. Some of them asked, "How'd you think to do that?" I responded that I didn't think to do it, I was bullied into doing it. Thanks Vinnie! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif
