Thanks guys. The ZiegenBock Thunder is on order and is being custom designed to exact specifications in Waco for us. It will look great. The only down side because its being custom made it won't be ready until maybe after the first event.

Speaking of the first event...By New Year you will be able to enter via titledisc for at least that event in Lewisville. There I gave you one. Might as well give the date. March 1st.

For those Dallas area guys that don't want all the Austin guys snagging all the CE discs I will try to make a run up there very soon. Which course should I invade?

The 2003 logos are almost done and look great. They will all be available very soon.

Marcace your time will come soon enough. Have golf cart will play.

Thanks.

That's what I do. Thanks for supporting the sponsors. John has changed companies and now works for the largest leasing company in Dallas. Put the pressure on him to say you won't buy unless they give ZT10 huge sponsorship/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

5{tal. But I won't have my plastic with me, I will be playing. I don't and won't take away from the TD's that run events at courses, that's just not fair. If I set something up at a course it will be where there is nothing already going on. Wherever I go I will let you know Kid, Justin and everyone else.

I will be playing at UC near San Antonio tomorrow to help those guys learn how to count out ace pot money:/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

ZT10 will be sponsoring the largest IceBowl in the area that Brian Schmidt is running at Live Oak. Sounds like a great day so I encourage everyone to play that one. Go to IceBowl thread for details.

As I look outside from the Outback the sun is shinning and it almost feels like Christmas. If only it was another 30 degrees warmer/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Now that was fun. No PA system , no computer, no delays, my shortest players meeting ever and 83 cool players supporting the cause.

I will post the winners and the money raised later tonight.

Thanks everyone for another fun day on the road for Texas 10.

Chris,

thanks for the mini! it was a blast, and hopefully helps put the Thunder on the road.

but next time, how about asking the local in charge of the acepot CTP to make it fair for all. #14 at Lewisville is NOT a fair ctp shot - for lefties. now i aint one to complain about lefty-righty BS, but this one is really just blatantly unfair. and unfortunately when we mentioned the problem to the guy running it (and i wasnt the only, righties actually mentioned it on behalf of lefties first), all i got was a smart-[*****] remark. that was quite unexpected, and really not right.

ozdisc
Jan 04 2003, 11:25 PM
I understand. I asked the locals to decide and run it for me. Not my favorite hole and I am a righty/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

I'm sad that the tour doesn't stop in Nacogdoches... It would have been awesome to have all ya'll come to my college town. I was planing to have a keg party at my place if it went down that way. The 2003 ZiegenBock Texas 10 Charity Tour is here…

Obviously there is lots of exciting news regarding this years events. I will give a brief run down now for those that can’t wait.

All the info is now posted on our website http://www.texas10tour.com

Here we go.

March 1 : Lewisville
May 3 : Houston
May 24 : Live Oak
June 21 : Lubbock
July 12 : Dallas
August 2 : Waco
August 23 : Lago Vista
September 13 : Round Rock
September 27 : Waco
Nov 15 : Amateur Super Tour (Final) - Lewisville
Nov 16 : Professional Super Tour (Final) – Lewisville

June 7-8 : 24 Hour Charity Marathon (not a Texas 10 but still a lot of fun)
How many holes can you play in one day? More details on the marathon soon.

As you will see the June 21 date is the same as the Big Arms Over the Brazos weekend. There is a very good reason for this. We will do a ZT10 event on Saturday, June 21 and then on Sunday the Big Arms event will be held as a one-day B-tier. One BIG weekend of disc golf in Lubbock. I really look forward to checking out what many people consider one of the best courses in Texas. An extra 18 hole course will be installed for the weekend in the same park. Thanks to all the locals in Lubbock for their support and help. More news soon on Lubbock.

We will continue to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation in 2003 and look forward to donating even more than last year. In two years we have donated $18,100.

I am proud to announce that we will be holding the “Points Race” again for this year. Each of the ten divisions will be competing for a yet to be determined prize.

The idea of the Points Race is to reward participation in our events across the state. This year we will go one step further. I have negotiated a deal with each of the following events to become a “Bonus Points Qualifying Event” for the ZT10 tour. When you play in these events you will be rewarded with bonus points that will count to your ZT10 total. More details soon but for now these are the current participating events. Please support these events as they support Texas 10. Each of these events will also be donating a portion on entries to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Victoria Open – Victoria
Waco Charity Open – Pro
Waco Charity Open – Ams
Big Arms Over the Brazos – Lubbock
Coastal Clash – Corpus Christi
Carrollton Open – Carrollton
Cold Turkey Classic – Austin

Online entries will be available at http://www.titledisc.com tonight if not sooner. As you are all well aware last year’s events all basically maxed out. After a few more announcements I will make in the coming weeks many events this year may fill well before the event date. Don’t let your chance slip to be apart of the “ZiegenBock Texas 10 Charity Tour”.

The final Super Tour events will be held on the weekend of November 15-16 in Lewisville. We will not be accepting entries for the final until August 1st. I want the opportunity to travel the state and spread the word, and give everyone that has not heard about us to have the opportunity to play. After August 1st it will be up to you if you want to procrastinate or enter and join in the fun.

Thanks to everyone that played our two small one round mini’s over the last two weeks in Austin and Dallas. We hosted 145 players that paid a $10 entry for a 100% payout. After all was said and done we raised $3740 for the purchase of the new “ZiegenBock Thunder” disc trailer. The Thunder is coming.

Time to enjoy more of this great weather and play a round or two. See you on the course soon.

Yours in Flight,
Chris

Nix where are you and the Lubbock boys. Let me say it once more...ZT10 is going to Lubbock...just to make it official.

Sorry we couldn't make it to Nacogdoches this year. We just couldn't bring it together with the little alcohol issue. I plan on playing the Pecan Park Open however. Hopefully they will become a "Bonus Points Qualifier Event" to help encourage more players to make the trip to two great courses. Last years promotion with the Lance Armstrong Foundation seemed to work well.

As for you Randy...ticket windows are only open at select locations at specific times. I called your secretary with the info/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

It's cool Chris. I'm glad you will be making it to the Pecan Park Open. I hope others will follow you. My home courses are awesome. I just hope I don't choke like I usually do. :-) And for anyone that needs to stay you are welcome as long as you don't mind sleeping on the floor. Well, I'm out. I've got to get some reast. The Courses in Louisville, Ky are tricky. See all ya'll later.

whoa....I had to let it sink in a little.../clipart/wink.gif

No- the L-Town crew has been anxioutsly awaiting "permission" to speak of the greatest tour Texas has ever seen...

At least a few of the new holes have been scouted in the east portion of Mackenzie park-

Coupled with the greatness we already have, I am having a hard time expressing the excitement I have for this 36 hole wonder-course..I have played a number of courses- and know that we will have some of the best holes Texas has to offer-

Yes- right here in West Texas...

We had a meeting of locals this weekend and my excitement is a microscopic portion of the collabrative effort this club will put forth to make this weekend one to go down in the record books...

Just ask anyone who played BAB last year....This year will be even better!

Stay tuned for the what Windriders will bring!!!

We've been threatened with castration for mentioning T10 in L-town. Now it's out!! Let's have a show of hands - Who's coming to L-town for a West Texas disc golf experience? ROUND ROCK? PizzaZeus? Cong? Wimpy? Homebrew? Magoo? Okay - now who's askeert?

Texas 10 combined with a B-tier on one of the top courses in Texas, priceless.

To make your trip easier, we will give you $10.00 off of your entry to the BAB if you play both events. You must sign up in advance to take advantage of this offer. We will offer sign-ups via TitleDisc, shortly. Need to contact him first.

Am payouts will be pick-your-prize from Himing's stock.

More to come.....

Bobby said you were co-TDing that day Mark. Trust me you will stay and play/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif I will give Ron your keys.

I even plan on playing Big Arms! That will be after my mountain road trip to Sipapu the week earlier. On the road again...

Bobby posted last night a $10 reduction on entries if you entered both events. What he was trying to say is that the entry fee's for Big Arms have all dropped $10 from last year. Still 100% payout and all the other good stuff just a lower entry because it's a one day event.

Titledisc is almost ready to accept entries. Please note that on ALL (inc ZT10) events that Titledisc handle you can enter multiple events in the one transaction. Your shopping cart will show in a new window so you then just enter the next event and keep going while the shopping cart gets updated.

Wow, 154 holes at Live Oak. Did you loop the front nine or the whole 28?

I will announce the location later for the marathon but here is a little info.

24 hours around the clock. I have permission from the city to play through the night. Play as many holes during the 24 hours, day and night. I will be camped out in the ZiegenBock Thunder serving ZiegenBock and new scorecards. The music should be up loud so I can stay awake myself/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

It will be from noon on the Saturday to noon on Sunday...that's 24 hours for those that use a digital watch.

I am planning on food, music, drink, and whatever else we can do to have a really fun day and night and day in the park.

Shawn who knows I may even have a event stamp for you/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif Are you playing UC on Sunday morning?

"36 hour marathon"

Jan 10 2003, 11:50 AM
The marathon is on June 7/8th? Is that right?

Also, eventhough this is NOT a TX10 event, will we be supporting Lance Armstrong or some other charity for this unique event?

Has anybody else ever run a 24 hour disc golf marathon? I imagine half way through I'd be just throwing 2 fingers so my arm won't fall off!

Jan 10 2003, 12:09 PM
Sort of like a disc golf LeMans, should be fun, do we have certain cards or would it just be balls to the wall playing through all night long?
We will need a Red Bull sponsor that night for sure!!!

I guess it is no secret for the location. It's on the LSDGA website. It is at the Lake Park course in Lewisville from noon Saturday June 7th to noon Sunday June 8th.

TK I am still working out the best method but basically your quote looks good.

A energy drink sponsor we will have/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Although not a Texas 10 event the ZiegenBock Thunder will be there and all the money raised by the tournament and players will go to Lance.

BBD maybe you should start practising with the other arm to do 12 hours with each arm if that helps/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Chris,
You got my registrations ?

24 hours @ 1.5 hours a round
16 rounds * 18 holes = 288 holes

I guess that somebody could shoot 300 holes.
Now how do you an event that has a different number of holes played for each competitor ? You have to have a scoring system that does not just go by throws. Something above/below par (or par adjusted for player rating) with bonus points added for each round over 12 rounds, and points deducted for less than 10 total rounds.

Maybe a big bonus for topping 300 holes.
Average would probably be below 200 holes.

Jan 10 2003, 03:00 PM
Chris,

Will the 24 hour marathon be a ZT10 points qualifier ?

ozdisc
Jan 10 2003, 03:10 PM
Gary that's why I pay you the big bucks to be the stats man and work those things out for me/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

A 300 hole bonus sounds good. Maybe I should get a bonus if I stay awake all night.

I am sure we will come up with plenty of fun stuff for everyone.

Not sure about the points qualifier, I will have to ask the TD's permission. I am sure I can twist his arm.

ozdisc
Jan 10 2003, 06:03 PM
Here are 3 tournaments for everyone to support. These tournaments will be donating $2 per player to the Lance Armstrong Foundation on behalf of the the ZT10 tour. These are not "Points Qualifiers" but still very worthy of our support.

Thanks to everyone involved in these events. Disc golf is making it's mark in the fight against cancer one event at a time.

April 5-6 Pecan Park Open : Nacogdoches (B-tier)
May 4 Houston Hangover : Tom Bass Park, Houston (Charity)
August 30-31 Outlaws Singles Shootout : Round Rock (B-tier)

Keep those entries coming.

Jan 11 2003, 09:56 PM
You know, the bad thing about being a rookie TD is that you're bound to make some mistakes. The good thing about being a rookie TD, (hopefully) is that people understand that you're bound to make some mistakes.

In my rush to support the 2003 ZiegenBock Texas 10, it seems that I've over committed myself. I told Chris, as soon as he announced the Points Qualifier level of sponsorship for his upcoming '03 tour, that I wanted all three HCF B-tiers to be a part of what he was doing for disc golf and for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Unfortunately, I didn't even take time to look at all of our dates. The Cold Turkey Classic, Nov. 29-30, at Bartholomew Park in Austin, doesn't take place until after the '03 ZT10 final. I don't think a Points Qualifier after the final is gonna work. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

I'd like to say to Chris and to all the players we're expecting at that event that I apologize for the incorrect promotion. I'd also like to stress that regardless of this snafu, the $2 per player will still be collected to support the amazing donations that are coming from disc golfers to the Lance Armstroing Foundation. This charity has benefitted greatly from the open hearts of Texas disc golfers in the last 2 years and will continue to do so.

Most holes played in 24hours 833 Dann Schultz & D.L. Redman June 1985. @ Tourist Park in Cedar Falls, IA
The distance traveled for walking was over 50 miles. Both had "aces" after midnight. Witnessed by local media and reported to Guinness.

ozdisc
Jan 15 2003, 03:21 PM
It would be cool to attempt a record but the Lake maybe not the place. It's not long as courses go but would take longer than some. I played a course in Charlotte a few months ago that was 9 holes but you could play in 15 minutes. Joey shot 16 under in 18 holes. Yeti and I didn't do that well but had fun laughing at Joey for missing the perfect round/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif We sat ace running for a while on one hole but nothing stuck. Barry Shultz had hit 2 aces in one practise round before the USGDC rounds. It's funny to think we used a course like that to prepare for the best and toughest course at Rock Hill.

One of the requirements of the marathon will be you must play the whole 18 hole course in order and in the presense of at least one other person. All rounds will be recorded on a score card.

The Lake Park course will be the venue because of great city support and that will can promote our sponsors well there...ZiegenBock/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Tourist in Cedar Falls is where Des and I got our Disc Golf start. It is fun, but mighty small (avg 240 ft), maybe that's why I don't have the Big Gun yet. I have Disc-a-Thoned that course in under 20 min and have been one shy of the "perfect round". Plus it is flat and hardly has any trouble, unlike several holes Lakeside. The Lake will be a blast playing glow all night though until Ziegy takes over. Probably gonna need a 6 to 1 ratio of Ziegs to Red Bulls!

I agree Ben, some of the best events I have ever been to have been unsanctioned. That really does not mean that much though since all of them have been Texas Tens! Man I can’t wait to play in these again!

10 Events, 1 Player, $10,000 Bonus

In 2003 the ZiegenBock Texas 10 Charity Tour will be offering all Open Pro players that compete a chance to win a $10,000 cash bonus.

The largest individual prize in disc golf will be up for grabs during the ten one day events. This money is on top off all regular payouts and tour bonuses.

All Open Pro players will be eligible to win the bonus. To claim your piece of disc golf history you will need to win any four of the first nine one day ZT10 tour events. After you win these four it all comes down to the Super Tour Final. Win that event and you walk away with $10,000 plus all the regular Super Tour payout and ZT10 tour bonus money. That could make your payday over $13,000.

Field sizes will be capped this year so signup now. www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) No extra fees to be eligible for the bonus just a chance to make history and walk away $10,000 plus richer.

ZT10 setting the standard. Come and get us now/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Jan 27 2003, 04:54 PM
Wow, its a good thing I'm already signed up for the ones I'm playing this year. I have a feeling the field limits are gonna be reached pretty soon as every pro player who can, will be getting registered for a piece of that pie.

Jan 27 2003, 04:56 PM

Jan 27 2003, 05:18 PM
That would mean a maximum of 2 pros could be eligible, right? So if some one actually qualifies for the 10K can you imagine the deals that may be cut in the final round if he's in contention/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif "I'll give you a $1000 to miss that putt"
Has anyone ever won 4 events in 1 year?
Don't you have to be a Texan to be eligible?

Jan 27 2003, 05:37 PM
Only 2 could be eligible in the Finals, but there could be several guys in contention early, dwindling naturally by the end of the year.

Its sad that Pros could or would lack the integrity to pull the stunt you mention, but I'm sure it could happen. Of course that person would be unscrupulous scum, but hey anything for a buck I guess.

I doubt you'd have to actually hail from the greatest state in the union to qualify. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Jan 27 2003, 05:55 PM
I doubt it would either, but this is most likely an insurance policy with a premium already paid so ZT 10 wouldn't lose anything if someone actually won the 10K. Everyone was hoping the 10K ace got hit last year with all the good publicity it could bring.
But I promise not to make any deals at the final.

Yes Innova Quality/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Justin won 3 last year. Nolan didn't play. Joel only played 4 I think. Mike Sayre played 1 and won 1. Add all the other Texans and there will be some good competition.

As for traveling pro's time will tell if the biggest single prize in disc golf will attract them. If not it's still fair game for the locals.

And if you think that was all the announcements I have up my sleeve, think again/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Thanks Trev. Yes the DVD is pretty cool if I do say so myself. I am working on a new version that will be available for sale at the first event on March 1st. The current version is for sponsors and is missing the music video.

I am thinking of doing this with the DVD. It will cost $20 however if you show it to a friend, business or whoever that sponsors the tour for more than $100 I will refund your $20 purchase price. From the reaction so far from those that have seen it is very positive.

Time to go and pick up the new "ZiegenBock Thunder" trailer.

Feb 07 2003, 01:36 PM
Spoke to our contact at ZiegenBock today,to say the reaction was positive is an understatement. The first question he asked when contacted was "did you see that DVD??? Wasn't that cool???" He went on to say the ZT10 sponsors request package was more professionally done than most that they receive from other organizations. The information is being processed as we speak and we should have our 2003 committment soon. Thanks OZ great work."OLD MAN"

We still have name sponsors available if anyone is interested. $75 gets your name on the Thunder for life and a full color disc with it's photo on. Also larger sign spaces are available. You won't miss this rolling down the Texas highways.

The DVD that Mr.Himing put together has to be one of the finest examples of a marketing tool that I have ever seen to gain sponsors. Chris, IMHO, is taking the sport to a whole new level with an exellent tour, the best disc selection you can find anywhere, an honest approach to what he is trying to accomplish and how he wants to get there, and a very good representation of this sport we all love to play. He will be one of the INNOVAtors[:0] in our sport for a long time to come. (that OBSCURE INNOVA reference was for you Himing, hopefully Dave is reading the board[:0})

Feb 07 2003, 07:31 PM

You guys that have not seen this thing, trust me, the folks who are singing the praises of this DVD are not exaggerating. I'm so proud of Chris and all his support team for what they've put together with this amazing tool. Not only is Chris my TD mentor, but the whole approach to Texas 10 has been and will continue to be THE standard for pushing this sport to the next level, in my never so humble opinion.

Good job, Mate. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

This may have been covered before so excuse me in advance.

Why aren't these popular tournaments sanctioned? I understand the PDGA takes $3 from each person. Couldn't you just hike the entry fee up that amount? Or is it more complicated? Maybe it's not fair for those that aren't PDGA members b/c they'd have to also pay $5. I know there has probably been discussion/consideration about this, I'm just wondering and mostly excited to play THE MIGHT Z tomorrow /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif.

Redbull Flying Machines coming to Austin.

I have been asked to put together a team (group of crazy people) to enter the...

Redbull Flugtag

Remember the tv shows showing people jumping off a platform and trying to fly, well that could be us/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Imagine the design ideas...a huge disc golf basket with wings...a spinning disc with the pilot in the middle...what ideas do you have?

I was approached by Redbull as it would be a great way to gain exposure for us. The event will be held at Auditorium Shores in Austin with a huge crowd and media everywhere. Only 30-40 teams will be selected and we were asked/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Did I mention over $12,000 in cash prizes!

Teams of 5 people with one being the pilot. Entry is free but we need to submit a drawing of our flying machine before Feb 20. The actual event is on April 26. http://www.redbullflugtagtexas.com/

This could be a fun way to gain more exposure for disc golf and our tour. The last time Redbull did this the footage made it on the Jay Leno show.

Ideas anyone?????

Feb 10 2003, 12:27 PM
Hey Chris, I read the rules and I could be a pilot. Being under 130lbs, that leaves 320 for the craft. Would love to be a part of this. Sounds like fun!!

Feb 10 2003, 12:55 PM
Cool now we have a pilot...I hope you can swim/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

We need someone that is creative to draw up the craft, not to mention to build it. The drawing needs to be submitted before Feb 20.

The Redbull company will even help with building and supply all the Redbull we need to keep going.

My idea is a disc golf basket with wings. The only problem is now where do we tie Steamboat in flight/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif Or the worlds largest frisbee.

Disc golf promotion on all TV stations...
Fun day for all concerned...
Huge prize money on offer...

Feb 10 2003, 07:55 PM
The DVD is primarily designed to promote the tour and show to sponsors.

The current version is missing the players music video. This will be in the copy availbale for sale on March 1st in Lewisville at the first tour event.

At the moment the DVD contains:

Introduction to the tour
Sponsor promo video
Hole in One footage to music
Media clips of tv interviews
2002 sponsor thanks
Photo slideshow of the 2002 tour
...and the very cool 9 minute Lance Armstrong promo as he describes the foundation and his fight with cancer.

The DVD will be in very limited supply due to the high costs of production and reproducing the copies. As I said before any body that purchases one for $20 and uses it to gain the tour $100 or more of sponsorship I will refund the purchase price.

I will have my laptop and a copy for people to see this weekend at the IceBowl in Live Oak.
