Amarillo, TX Ice Bowl Jan.19. Sometimes we get "real" Ice Bowl weather-cold, windy, and snow on the ground; but the last couple of years it has been pretty nice here. Who knows what this year will bring? One thing is for sure, whatever the weather, there will be plenty of disc golfers having fun in Thompson Park.

January 11, 2003 -- Ice Bowl 2003 -- the second annual Ice Bowl at the Jensen Grove DG course will be a part of the Blackfoot Winter Carnival. It will be two rounds of 9 holes, with special events during the warm-up/intermission. Expect temperatures in the single digits. Registration will begin at 9:00 am with the first round at 9:30 and the second round at 11:00. Entry fee will be $10.00 plus 3 cans or boxes of non perishable food items. All proceeds will go to the Blackfoot Food Bank. The first 25 players to register will get a special commemorative mini. There will be prizes for Men's, Women's, and Junior's winners and runners up. Last year, the Blackfoot Ice Bowl raised more money and food than any other Ice Bowl in Idaho, Montana, or Utah. Help us keep up that record! We will also have an ace pot, a round of disc curling on ice, and the famous Blackfoot Mulligan tickets for sale.

Rodney, that would be 02-01-02 @ Freedom Park. There is a little more info on the CDGC Website (http://www.charlottedgc.com). Freedom park also has water so I may sit this one out due to my uncanny ability to throw discs in unrecoverable places.

It's ok Casey. Made a long rake last year with some pvc pipe. Was able to recover disc within 20 of the shore. If you decide not to play just leave your bag tag at the sign in table.

Dec 10 2002, 11:12 AM
Metal, the flyer is being prepared today. I'll email you a copy. Our charity is not a food bank this year. Straight from the charity's web site.... "The mission of the NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE CENTER (NRC) is to empower neighbors to build communities by providing access to education, training, and resources and by facilitating opportunities to network, partner and develop strategic alliances." I have first hand knowledge of the terrific work this organization does on a tiny, tiny budget.

Those that want to bring canned food, please do, we'll forward those to the Greater Randolph Area Services Provider.

Dec 10 2002, 12:05 PM

I was going to start poking fun at the 'southern' cities that are having ICE bowls, and then Charlotte's recent run of bad luck made me think, for once, I should pipe down....

If it makes the Charlotte people feel better they are predicting an ice storm in the Detroit Area over night....

Thomas, last week for Sunday doubles here in NW ALA it was about 60 degrees and sunny. Not bad for December. By Jan. 18, it could be cold as hell and rainy. Nobody down here wants to play in the rain in cold. For my sake, and my wallet's sake, I hope it's warm or at least sunny so someone will show up. RwC

Dec 30 2002, 11:36 AM
Joel, I know you were going to add the new lake course to your website. Could you please mention that it is a private course for members of the church and their guests. Thanks.

Dec 30 2002, 08:44 PM
Hi Tom. I put up whatever comes my way, but if the information either injures or annoys it comes down or is hidden. A prime example is the 'secret' course in Oak Hill. I had everything up and got an e-mail from the owners, so I pulled all the links. (the data is still there if you know where to look)
I would like to have the info on 'The Lake Course' and put it all together, just to come as close as possible to a complete picture of the Austin scene, but I don't want to cause problems. Is there a public "open" time for the course? Any chance?

Dec 30 2002, 10:55 PM
After a discussion with the youth minister he made it clear that when the course is complete the Church wants it to be private. The only thing missing ou there are about 12 or 13 tee signs. I am not saying to not put it on the website, but my thought would be if the Church were asked they would say to not put the info on there. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but they want a disc golf course without the behavior that usually comes along with it.The course hase 2 churches on 2 sides, a neighborhood of $500K homes and they will quickly shut it down. I can ask them for you if you like. My email link here does not work so let me know if you would like to talk and i'll give you my number.

I think That's wrong the Church is gonna make it a Private Coarse,,, They should set an example of open arms and could use that coarse as a witnessing tool.. Coarse's have rules
My coarse in San Antonio has rules no bottles, no camping no motorized vehicles on grass.. you have to abide or get caught..Oh and keep dogs on leashes..... I hope this church allows Non-members to play there....!!!!!
IMO RT

Dec 31 2002, 11:21 AM
The church bought the land, which is extremely expensive in that area, and all the baskets and tee signs and did all the labor out of church members money. So why is it wrong?

J A B
Dec 31 2002, 12:40 PM
Well it's not wrong for private land owners to use their land as they see fit. I do "personally" feel that it is wrong for an entity that pays no property taxes to not allow the public access to a recreational area. Segregation through economic statification. Just my opinion.

A "good" example of this is the "Our Savior Lutheran Church" nine hole course out on Yager Ln. in Austin. Paid for by church members but with a sign posted "welcoming" the community.

Dec 31 2002, 12:54 PM
just become a member and viola, best of both worlds

Dec 31 2002, 01:28 PM
Exactly. Or just stop by and talk to the youth minister. Thats all they ask.

Dec 31 2002, 01:31 PM
They are not trying to segregate anybody. They just want you to stop and ask or join the church. It's pretty simple really. Just last week 2 Austin golfers were seen out there doing illegal activities. This is what can't go on out there.

ANNOUNCING ICE BOWL 2003 INCLUDING A CALENDAR OF EVENTS

About the Origin of the Ice Bowl
The first disc golf tournament called the "Ice Bowl" was held in January of 1987 at Albert-Oakland Park in Columbia, Missouri. It was an attempt to get some disc golfing activity going in the dead of winter. The Sunday before the Super Bowl was chosen because it was (at that time) a football-free day, thus getting rid of the "I’m watching the game" excuse for not playing. News releases were issued, and on the night before the Ice Bowl, it snowed five inches. The results were good as both 34 people and the media showed up. There was a picture in the sports section of the Monday edition of the Columbia Daily Tribune—disc golf in Columbia got some free publicity.

The first Ice Bowl was mentioned in the debut issue of Disc Golf World News (March, 1987), and since then, it has been promoted by DGWN and Disc Golf World. The initial idea was to have everyone playing on the same day as an act of disc golf solidarity in the dead of winter. Sun belt states were encouraged to participate for this reason and because of the irony. Because some cities preferred holding their Ice Bowls on different weekends or on Saturdays and as we discovered that people were willing to travel for some disc golfing fun, even in January, we adopted the official "Ice Bowl Corridor," four years ago. This year, Ice Bowl will run for six weekends from January 11-February 17.

In 1993, Ice Bowl merchandise was introduced for the first time, and prizes for attendance, media coverage, photos, etc. were awarded. In 1994, the Indianapolis Disc Golf Club introduced the idea of collecting food and raising money for its local food bank. In 1996, fundraising for local food banks was made an important component of Ice Bowl, and disc golfers responded by providing over 5,500 meals. Last year, we raised nearly $66,000 collectively. This year’s goal is $75,000.

For those of you (and there are always a couple) who feel it’s necessary to diss Ice Bowls in the warmer climates, let me remind you that the idea behind Ice Bowl has always been about disc golf solidarity in winter and more importantly, since Ice Bowl became a fund-raiser for charity, many of the top fund-raisers have been from the Sun Belt. Ice Bowl is about fun and charity, regardless of the weather.

Below is the schedule of officially recognized Ice Bowl events (those who have registered). If you are not on this list, please contact me right away.

Many of these Ice Bowls will have some of the cool Ice Bowl gear, which includes discs from Innova, Discraft, Millennium, and Gateway, as well as tee shirts (short and long sleeve), sweatshirts (crew and hooded), caps (ball and stocking), towels, and bag tags. If interested in this stuff, check with your TD first. If he/she is not stocking Ice Bowl gear, give me a call.

Happy new year to everyone.

And remember these
MANDATORY ICE BOWL RULES:
#1. Under no circumstances, may an Ice Bowl be cancelled or postponed because of weather conditions.
#2. No wimps or whiners are allowed.
#3. There are no excuses for not attending. (Either be there or be a wimp!)

Live Oak, Texas Ice Bowl - on TitleDisc!

You can now sign up on line at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) for the Live Oak, Texas Ice Bowl to be held Saturday, February 15. Field limited to 130 players, so sign up early and often.

I have also confirmed that Shannon Fosdick, Waterloo Silver Anniversary champion will give a putting clinic during the lunch hour to those who are interested in what it takes to putt like a champ!

Also, Chris Ware, known to many of you as Seewhere, will give a BIG hyzer clinic during the lunch hour. If you always wanted to learn how the pros get so much crank on those big hyzers or what the best discs are for throwing big, Chris is just the big arm to help you with your game!

Hey Folks i went with Stan to reedy creek and laid out the extra pin placements. Here is a brief description.Hope to have some flags and post out this weekend to let players practice if they like.
After playing 13,instead of going to 14,play the extra holes as follows.
A-throw paralell to 14 fairway to the corner of the field its about 200 ft and the basket will be right on the edge of the woods,if you throw long or overputt you could go way down the hill.
B- go up the field keeping the tree line to the right from the flags throw into the far right corner its about 300 and has lots of trouble to r and behind the basket.
C-move to other side of field with the trees on your right and follow the path to next tee.look through the break in the trees toward center field of the ball field you have to clear the fence and make the break in the trees.its about 300 ft,plus slight uphill.
D-move to bleachers on 3rd base side and tee from the concrete in front toward the hill above the left field fence.Rememeber the ball field is OB on this hole and if you throw long or to the left the paths are out also. The basket will be on the edge of the hill, scary Putt time.
E-go towrd the shelter on the left and the tee will be beside a group of trees, the pin will be about 15 ft off the right field foul line perched on the hill, the hill is steep and drops off on the left and behind, the ball field is OB and its possible to blow a long putt over a short section of fence and end up there also.
F-follow the path back towards the cricket field and the last extra tee is behind hole C tee, there will be a path designated to prevent walking into flight paths, please use it or dont be mad if you get hit.The basket will be above the bleachers to the right and between the sidewalks at either ends of the stands. All concrete and the path behind the basket will be OB.It looks easy but
Stan only landed 1 of 3 throws in bounds.
Ill answer any emails about the new placements or call me at 566-0221. Ralph

A quick announcement:
We have the REAL ICE BOWL in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and it's filling up fast. Some say how their event is the Ice Bowl but with thousands of added dollars and a great layout at Dretzka Park, you can't go wrong coming to Milwaukee. So check out www.unclejoes.net (http://www.unclejoes.net) for all the Ice Bowl info you need. Jan 18/19 weekend.

Careful there, Halfway... that almost sounds like whining, which is expressly forbidden in the Ice Bowl rules. /clipart/proud.gif

Hey Brian I know of meetings and award ceremonies where there are no dragons there and still round rock is bellowed out. So please tell her that won't be a problem.

Jan 13 2003, 09:17 PM
what kind of clinic are you doing C-Dub? how to fit a full service first aid station in your bag? how to throw remotely far with a really crooked middle finger? how to get in six rounds a week and not p'off the boss or wife? or my favorite.....how to make your metal mini have more craters than the moon. ha ha.

C'mon you OMBs. I'm not giving you nearly as many chances to smack me around this year. I'll be more of a spectator than a victim, er, I mean a player, so come on out the the Live Oak Ice Bowl. Lets see what kind of a moldy oldie field we can muster! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

I need input. Is it better to have a raffle or a ace run contest? which raises more cash?
I have purchased a basket to give away as a prize and had planned on setting up a tight ace run contest (with CTP as alternate if there is no ace) but is a raffle more efficient?
Which gets more participation?

briangraham
Jan 15 2003, 12:09 PM
Sue Anne,
I have found that an ace run or ctp contest on a short hole, reachable by everyone, raises the most cash. A raffle is like buying a lottery ticket....not much fun unless you win. Players are more likely to buy 5 or 10 throws for a dollar each than they are $5 - $10 worth of raffle tickets. Looking forward to the Augusta Ice Bowl and the Lake Olmstead course!

9th Annual Ice Bowl benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Bank

SignUp:8AM @ North Pavilion
Players Meeting: 9AM
Start Time: 9:30AM
Playing 2 Rounds of 21 Holes

Entry Fee for ALL Divisions:
$30.00 a TEAM (Doubles Event)
with a $3.00 per player Ace Pot
The ADGA will add $50 to the ace pot if it is hit during the rounds. If there is no ace hit during the rounds, there will be a CTP for the ace pot.

Upon entering you will receive an official Limited edition 2003 ADGA Ice Bowl T-shirt and a golf weight Ice Bowl mini.

All proceeds from entry fees will go to benefit the TAFB, but all first place teams will receive a trophy commemorating their victory. Again this year, we will have a Mixed Doubles division.

Returning again this year is the 3rd Annual Castaneda Group Ace Run. Willy will be putting up $500 on the line for anyone to hit an ace on this predetermined hole. Chances are 3 for $5 with all money raised being donated to the TAFB.

We also have a raffle for a Discraft Chainstar basket. $3 each or 4 for $10. This basket will be awarded at the completion of the Ice Bowl.

In between rounds the ADGA will be feeding all participants, courtesy of the ADGA.

As the north parking lot fills, please park in the south lot. If you need any further information, feel free to contact: Terry Toolen at 817-226-4160

Who all is in for the Mixed Doubles??

Jan 15 2003, 05:31 PM
Hey Sue.In Charlotte we offer the basket to the person that brings the most money. Our basket is a donation from a local company.Or an ace run is cool but i wouldnt give it away unless it is hit and then do it again at the next event to raise more money for next yr. Ralph

Jan 16 2003, 05:59 PM
Ralph: your ice bowl is a much larger-scale event. maybe next year we will be right up there with you.:] I am still planning to make it to that one!
I bet that if I gave the basket to the person with who brought the most canned goods this year, I would be giving it to myself because I have been collecting so much and that would be unfair.
I need to use this as a contest to collect extra cash to use as sustaining funds for the ice bowl tournament. All sponsorship money thus far is ear-marked for the food bank only because all we have received are hole sponsorships (and GREAT CTP prizes.)
I think we are setting up a special shot that will be a made-for-tv ace run championship. (I like made-for-tv events!!)
Anyway- our own Action Jackson has agreed to be the auctioneer and each throw will cost $2.
This needs to be as fun for the public as it is for the players!

Jan 16 2003, 06:59 PM
Asheville does a cool thing to give away baskets. They tie a 10ft ribbon to the basket. Throws are $1. You can throw as many times as you like. If your disc lands within the ribbon, your name goes in the hat. After everyone is done throwing draw out the name and give away the basket. Then you don't have to worry about what happens if noone aces. It gives everyone a chance to win.

Jan 16 2003, 11:27 PM
Thats cool,i hope it pays off.Im sure you will
do a great job,you are a great individual and im sure you have the backing of the club as i do.How much is registration and how much is the cost of shots at the basket. And where do i send the money to. ? Ralph

Jan 16 2003, 11:59 PM
Hey Girls and Boys
Im up over 30 preregisters for the Ice Bowl in Charlotte. Thanks to those who have taken advantage of this offer and please if your gonna play simplify your ice bowl experience and call or email me and let me know your coming.Ill even tell you where your gonna start and who you will play with if they are already assigned to that hole.Getting some great prizes and gonna have a barbecue guy at the park all day so we can come to the park early and stay real late playing glo golf.DL may even have the new Glo disc from Disccraft(ooooh did i say that).Keep them cards and letters and email and phone calls coming.
Ralph

Jan 17 2003, 11:57 AM
Ralph,
If you really do plan to come, send me an email by next thursday and I will put you on my list since you asked to come months ago.
I have not heard from anyone else wanting to bring children but I am not playing and can secure your son in the building with me for the day if you send him with a gameboy!
$20 plus canned goods
$2 per throw for the basket
$1 per mulligan
entertainment is free
There may be a sports psychologist on hand to console those who lose discs in the water or shank out in the OB, but you won't need that, you play renaisance (stress level there can be quite high I bet)
just kidding-our water holes are completely reachable

Asheville person-when is yours? I LOVE that course

Augusta, GA Ice Bowl - Jan. 25, 2003
The Metropolitan Spirit, a free weekly magazine in Augusta, GA, did one of the nicest disc golf stories that I have ever seen on the upcoming Augusta Ice Bowl. It featured a great full page color photograph of local Payton Videtto driving on hole #16 at Lake Olmstead. Sue Anne Spears was also photographed putting on hole #1.

The excitement is building and we are looking forward to a great event.

Rockdude,

Yes they are. Pick your poison. You and your partner can play for free at Michiana Ice Bowl if you bring the most canned food items. Check out more info on our website wwww.infomotions.com/discgolf or send me an email. Hope to see you there. Last year was a huge turnout and we expect the same again this year.

Thanks, RICK!
I was at the kickoff for Milwaukee's Ice Bowl this morning - what a crowd! Uncle Joe & GLDGC were doing a great job. They said they had more people at today's IB that last year's Rumbletown A-Tier tourney! Woo-hoo!

One correction to Rick's list. The Berzerkeley Best Pairs Bash at Aquatic Park is on January 25th and 26th (not on 2/16). For a flyer go to http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~bondy/bbpb.htm.

I think I heard Tucson raised $700 today. I think it reached 80 degrees with clear blue skies. We might've had a 10mph wind second round, but we roughed it. It is for charity and all. Thanks for the good time. I enjoyed my first ever ring of fire. How fitting was my preppy [*****] winning the collared shirt. Even funnier since I chose not to wear one today.

keithjohnson
Jan 19 2003, 12:32 AM
even funnier you lost to me and welched on the standing 20 dollar bet......

yes 700 dollas raised and over 200 pounds of food for the food bank

clue sandbagged me out of my fourth place tie and 45 dollar payout and kept his 20 also...i think he should be a sport and donate it all to the food bank as a REAL MAN wouldn't have kept it /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

So the only ice was in the beer cooler.Good job Tucson but not much of an "Ice" Bowl. Valpo's low 0 degrees today /msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif

Jan 19 2003, 01:32 AM
I was on the brink of laying it all out against my better judgement, but leave it to Keith to bring the best out of me.

First of all, I asked you specifically if you wanted to play for $20 again even after I told you I was even through the first 9 holes. You scoffed and said you didn't really want to play for money. I know you know this, but others may not so I thought I would make that clear.

Now the real issue for those of you following the saga of Arizona disc golf. There is this sandbagger from Tucson named Keith Johnson who has been playing open forever in a state that never draws a masters field outside of the memorial now decides that he is going to play masters. There was one other guy that signed up for it, but opted to pay to play open after their futile attempt at creating a division was foiled. Keith on the other hand chose to take the easy win and be the only masters player.

Then suddenly there is some talk of him moving to the open field well into the tournament. Allegedly he payed up the difference at lunch time to switch to open, but made little to no indication that the move had definitely been made. Well Keith went on to beat me by one stroke which I cared less about since I didn't think he was in my division. Then comes the awards and the TD goes up to Keith to ask him how they are going to pay out. In other words was he going to take Clue's money and bump Clue out of the cash. This was such a laughable idea that I hardly even figured it was worth discussing, but shortly figured out that I better say something or get screwed.

I don't even want to get into the whole concept about how you would've played had you definitely been playing open and how much more relaxing it would be to play in a division that you had already wrapped up and how you would've definitely been in masters had you not cashed in open and so on. Oh, and how you made no effort to notify the field that you had in fact switched divisions and how there was certainly no misunderstanding as to what division the other player that signed up for masters was playing.

Anyway, I certainly don't hold any grudges and I know you wouldn't intentionally do something as ludicrous as this, but you put me in a bad position and I didn't appreciate having to look like the bad guy trying to argue my way into the cash. Just try not to be so lax on that kind of decision making in the future.

Where all my dogs at, where dey at? I'm not hearing from all the OMBs on Live Oak Ice Bowl. What gives fellas?

Where else can a noodle arm like McDaniel attend a clinic to teach him a big hyzer? Can Fosdick (or anyone for that matter) teach Wimm and me how to putt? Can J. Dixon continue his rise of 2002 or will some new master bagger hit their stride? Will Ronnie Ray join us or is this the year he finally goes Pro? Will Larry let any of the rest of us have a chance at all this year?

All these questions and more can be answered if you attend. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

I need to clarify that the USDGC gold course is quite a bit longer than the lakefront course that we will be using for the Icebowl. It is however that same park and the same beautiful location. I hope to see a full roster.

Trey,

On the CDGC website I emailed adams@cetlink.net as the persont to contact for the Ice Bowl and got no response. Is there a pre-registration or are all players allowed to play? I plan on being there, just don't want to drive down and find out I can't play (well that's a given) but won't be let to play...

Treysbetterhalf,
You better stop trying to lure my ice bowl patrons up to rock hill with that "no yellow rope" comment! The true big dogs will be Lake Olmstead this Saturday at 9:00 and are not afraid of OBs, even if it means unforgiving water hazards.
Just kidding of course Sam! Good Luck.
Next year Augusta will not schedule an ice bowl the same day as Rock Hill. I apologize for that (I'm sorry mama, I didn't mean to dis you.)
I wish there was a way to be two places at once!

Hey Tomcat! There is no limit to the number of players for an Ice bowl, at least not ours anyway. I personally look forward to meeting you. I have watched your posts here on the board since you moved here a few short weeks ago.

Now to Sue Ann........I tried to convice Darryl and Paul that you wouldn't mind if they came up here for our ice bowl instead of yours. Darryl just laughed at me. Dont worry they are going south. I just hope all this work pays off for both of us. i know alot of folks that are torn between the two bowls. I guess we will just have to wait and see. you know I wish you all the luck in the world

Zack called last night but the cell phone died before we could find out if you guys could make it. I hope all of you do and I know Greenville guys won't whine about snow, you are used to it.
(Every time someone whines, they have to pay 50 cents to the food bank!)
Do you know how many people are making the trip?
See you bright and early Saturday~

Thanks, Vinnie!

From Gordon:
Just a reminder that this Saturday, January 25th is Waterloo’s Ice Bowl:
Zilker Park (18 hole set-up)
Sign up starts at 11 am, we will set up at the polo area picnic tables (near hole #1 on the north side)
Tee off at 12:30
$12 plus 2 cans of food (or $14 w/ no food)
ctp game afterward so bring plenty of extra one dollar bills all proceeds benefit Capital Area Food Bank
If you have anything you can donate to our CTP games and giveaways, we would really appreciate it – shirts, discs, minis, other stuff, etc. Anything we receive we will give away.
There will be time to play the Saturday morning mini at Pease Park. Dave Moody is going to start things promptly, and if things do happen to run a little late, we will wait at little at Zilker or start some cards a little late or something. I have a borrowed cell phone and the number is 736-3097, so just call me if you are coming from Pease and running a little behind (or tell Dave and he’ll tell me).
It looks like this year it will be a little “icier” than usual, but remember the Ice Bowl Rules: “No wimps or whiners” and “There is no excuse for not attending”. The club will certainly abide by “Can’t be cancelled because of weather”.
We will also have 25th Waterloo Tournament merchandise available, including the posters of all 25 years worth of Waterloo Classic Artwork and the few remaining metal minis.

Thanks and we hope to see you there,

Waterloo Disc Golf Club

Jan 23 2003, 04:45 PM
Sue Anne: Looks like half the club will come to Augusta and half will go to Rock Hill. With the new course going in at Easley, we want people from BOTH Ice Bowls to to know about the FIRST EVENT ever at the new course (Red Owens), and get everyone to come on the 15th. Hopefully around 5-6 of use are coming to Augusta(i know me and Zack for sure) and 5-6 are going to rock hill. Rene and Daniel are making the roadie to Rock Hill last i heard. See you saturday.

Anyone knows if you can bring canned goods per mulligan?

If so,all Ice Bowls?(well chalotte and winthrops anyway)?

Jan 24 2003, 07:21 PM
Hey Sam Is the rock hill ice bowl teeing off at 9a or is it 9a for the players meeting.Ralph

Jan 24 2003, 10:05 PM
Earlier posts said tee at 9:00. Obviously, to be safe, assume that.

A 9:00 tee wouldn't surprise me, as everybody throwing mullies is going to make for very long rounds.

Just got back to Billy's house from the Rock Hill Ice Bowl at Winthrop. It was about 40 degrees and about 6 to 10 inches of snow on the ground. It was picturesque, with the lake frozen over. Tomcat and Trey Johnson took many pictures for everybody to see at a soon but later time. Over $1600.00 was raised.

STOLEN DISCS.....This may not be the right place to post this. Tulsa, Ok Ice Bowl at Riverside Course, 1-25-03. After the end of the tournament, I left my truck, yes Unlocked, walked 25 feet to say good bye to some friends and some [*****], lowlife [*****], scum sucking [*****] entered my truck and STOLE my bag with all of my discs and a nice little stash of CE plastic.

Augusta Ice Bowl Results:

First let me give major props to anyone who has ever run any level tournament ever. It was a lot of work and I am now suffering from total exhaustion, didn't even get up yesterday until 3:00 pm. The worst part was not being able to play, but I survived & had a lot of fun!

We had 64 players, raised $1700 for the local food bank and several pounds of food were donated (official weight of perishables is forthcoming).
The ace contest was a big hit,the weather was amazing, and every player was fed on donated food!
We had 20 CTP's over 5 divisions and Mel Shuman took home the largest number of CTP's.

Our Ice Bowl Champions were:

Doubles Round One: Cuban & Robert Brian (46)
Doubles Round Two: Brian Graham and Jersey (44)
Overall Singles Champ After 2 rounds of play: Cuban & Brian Graham (101)
Cuban won the play-off and is obligated to come back next year and defend his title of ice bowl champ!
Singles Overall:
Open: Cuban
Advanced: Roger Roe
Master's A-Tone
Recreational: Ray Cartledge

Thanks to everyone who helped with this in anyway. We exceeded our goal and completely shocked the food bank!

Thanks Sue-Anne!
You did an awesome job on organizing and running the Augusta Ice Bowl. So good in fact, that you are the top of my list for TD'ing a PDGA sanctioned event here in Augusta.

Maybe if you handle it like the Pro-Bowl and we run it out of Augusta, but play it somewhere festive like Hawaii

I haven't seen too much pub for the "Icebowl in Paradise." Cliff Towne and his D.I.S.C. organization are putting it on this weekend at La Mirada. The course is supposed to be in the National Tour Golden State Classic configuration for the Ice Bowl.

Somebody please post a link to the D.I.S.C. flyer.

I believe that on the 8th of February there will be an Ice Bowl in San Marcos. It will be a non santctioned event for charity. All you local Austin golfers and San Antonio boys should try and make it out. I think that the start time is at 12:30 as not to interfere with Saturday morning minis.
