Nolan says he is reay for the challenge. He also said something about 12 down.

Sep 09 2002, 08:28 PM
Nolan better get psyched 'cause knocking our reigning champ off the throne won't be easy. He's a prooven winner now just rollin' in the money and ready to kick *****.
Hope I put a scare into that young hotshot for you, John. Should be a great match between you two and several other quality ADGA members.

ACE GOLF IN THE OAKS!!!! Yippie!

Sep 26 2002, 11:15 PM
Ill be there, it will be a long day after s-ville, but I am going to come and have some fun anyway.

Sep 27 2002, 02:27 PM
AS Jason said on the other thread, the sleeves are all in and we can move all of the baskets with multiple positions! We should be moving some during lunch on Sunday, but not many. Ace pot should be over $400 at least!! Look forward to seeing everyone and one last request. IF you have a basket, please bring it out. I think I need 3 more for ace golf in the oaks! That is so fun! Roo hit one last year and he was hooked! See you Sunday, or Saturday if you can help work at the park.

Sorry, Terry, I won't be available to help at Saturday's work day. I'll be going to Stephenville for ZT10. Wish me luck, 'cause you know I need it. I was out a little while last night, not long enough for a full round, but you have Veteran's looking great. I could see you've been busy. See EVERYONE Sunday for the Club Championships because I know everyone is going to be out there to support the ADGA and prepare for the VPO.

The course is looking great for the Championships thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers we had today!!!! Going to get the keg filled now and Steamboat will be getting all the food later. Some of the baskets will be in short positions tomorrow morning so if Tollen forgets to anounce it please just ask. See everyone tomorrow.

Sep 28 2002, 06:16 PM
If I forget..........????? Like Ginetta will let me!!

Thanks to a great staff. 12 people made it out and we moved more mulch than we have in over a year! Course is getting in good shape and should be very nice by the VPO. Can't wait to see everyone in the morning.

Well, there will be no 3peat/msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif The 'Lil Hoondie' Nolan Grider out shot me by two strokes today. He had me by 2 after the first round. Seven holes into the second round i had made up 4 unanswered strokes, and found myself up by 2. After 13 holes, the tide had turned again, and Nolan was up by 2/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif After 15, guess what? We're tied. He birdied two of the last three, i was only able to par. Way to go 'LIL HOONDIE', Congrats/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif My two year reign of terror has come to an end/msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif Sorry i missed out on the awards ceremony. What John? Not a pot pie? It was wonderful watchin' the big boys goin' at it, in the second round. All shot well. All had some "bad times". Thanks for a nice show. I had a chance to watch alot of local guys, and girls,"women",that I rarely get to play with,or even near. It seemed like a good turnout! Arlington always puts on a "really good shoe" WATAUGA RULES! Or should I say? NOLAN RULES!? way to go little hoondie. "Meister" (I'd go on all night, but these kids,"HAVE HOMEWORK" that requires the P.C.") WE had to have our homework done by sat. morn. Here are your scores. I seem to be missing two score cards. I know of Brian Lindstrom, but cannot recall who else I have missed. I only have the cards, but will check the placards tomorrow and see who I am missing. Great time was had by all. I want to thank Laura Quattlebaum, Laura Pepperling and Marlene Gilmore for the wonderful help. AS usual Jason and Ginetta put all they could into this and Mary and Dan McGough helped out. Could not have done this with out you. Thanks to Clay, John and Ken for the Baskets. Skip Maxwell set up a very cool Ace golf around the South Pavillion. Brian Mace donated some items, which we did not give away, but will save for the VPO! Thanks Brian! Thanks to all the staff!! I really enojy the Club Championships and thank all the members that made it out.

Five aces were hit during Ace golf. Gene Norbriga, Rob Canadian, John Maiuro (does he always hit an ace in Ace Golf??), Lee Dunston and one more for $22 each. It was a local and I will remeber as soon as I am done posting. I know I have the list at home, but I am at Marlene's, so I will make sure I post that with the scores tomorrow night.

The renewing and new members voted on raising the ace pot by a dollar for all ADGA mini's by a vote of 42 to 8. All ADGA mini's will increase by that dollar starting tomorrow at the Wed night mini. This will allow the ace pot to double at every mini and hopefully see some very large ace pots back at Veterans.

Congrats to John Maiuro for winning the Open division and his entry into the VPO!! Speaking of VPO, I will be posting about that very soon, so get ready for another great ADGA event. THe ADGA held a meeting last night and some great things are coming out of it! Look for allot of club members to step up and help out. This means nothing but better things in the future. This is enough for now. See you all soon!!

When is the ADGA Club Championship going to be played? Is it going to be used as a qualifier for the Arlington teams for TX Teams this year?

jasonc
Aug 25 2004, 04:33 PM
Club Championships will be September 25th. It is not a qualifier for teams though....that is usually picked by someone the club has nominated to run the team event.

Aug 27 2004, 01:52 PM
Not to be the correction police or anything, but the club championships is on Sunday Sept 26th not the 25th! We will be at the North Pavillion and will be feeding everyone for lunch and having ace golf in the oaks as usual. This will be two rounds sign ups starting around 8 or so. Hopefully we can get started by 10. See everyone there!

Don't forget about the ADGA club championships, and Ace Golf in the Oaks this sunday!!!

Who will be this year's champ? Will we have a 1st time champ, or will John(3x) or Nolan(1x) be crowned 4x or 2x Champ?

2000-john
2001-john
2002-nolan
2003-john
2004-?????????????????

I would personally like to see a new Champ, but i know Nolan or myself just won't GIVE it away.

Don't forget about the discount you get if you renew your membership on or before the Championships. If you wait until after the Championship, then you'll have to pay a little extra.

Hey Jason,
Are dues $20 including the championship entry?

Also, perhaps we should start a new tradition...I think the way it's been in the past is that the open division winner gets a free entry to the VPO...how about doing that for advanced as well?!? More people might join the club and play in the championships if that were the case!

Sorry for not posting here sooner, But i have been very busy!!!!!

Anyway. 2 rounds of 18 holes from the long pads all day. We will be shooting at the $500 sunday ace pot and we cannot give it away to Machen from the short pads. Ace Golf will be after the 2nd round and we will be feeding everyone food for lunch. We also have a keg of beer and will tap that right after the second round. Thanks Ketih!!!!!

Entry is a $10 renew for all current ADGA Members and $15 for all new members. $10 to play 2 rounds and $4 Ace Pot. Ace pot is added to the current Sunday's ace pot. Everyone plays the Ace Golf for prizes adn there will be a $3 side bet for cash for all aces hit during ace golf. I will make sure everyone understands in the morning. See you there and I will have your scores for you tomorrow night.

LMAO! This year's champ definitely won't be me. I'm at home now, they are playing their 2nd round. I just couldn't play golf in between the sneezes. I chased after a disc in the middle of some ragweed on hole #18, and that was the last of my comfort.

open's first round highlights:

Justin Kerr splashes out of hole #7 for a near ace.
Pepper throws an air shot and parks #14
Dennie says he'll go home at lunch unless he hits his last putt(50' through lots of trees)...He made it!
I sneezed more times than i threw /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mike Grider -3,
Nolan -2,
Kerr -1,
Pepper E,
Clatyon E,
David Rose +1,
Me +3,
Dusty +3,
Claydog +10,
Kenny +10,
Mace ?
Dennie?

Good Luck Mike, Nolan, Kerr, Pepp, Clayton!

Lunch was great! Thanks Toolen!

Was the course played from cement pads to where the baskets were layed out as of around 7pm Saturday night? I had to take care of alot of house stuff on Sunday, otherwise I'd have been there. Our dryer broke, along with the oven, and I had to install 3 ceiling fans. I did get to play a round Saturday night and noticed that only holes 2 and 12 were in the short position. Did yall move anything else for the club championships?

Sep 27 2004, 05:00 PM
No it stayed that way, and we played the 1st round from Champion pads(for open and adv only) and the 2nd round from the normal tees since the $500 Ace was exposed for both rounds :D

Vinnie - there were a couple of us that weren't scared of the Rock. The two Q's had a great time. I know you say that Round Rock is not for women. That is the reason I did not play Outlaws. I think Round Rock is a lot easier than Rivery. It was our first time to play Rivery. It is easy to see all the hard work you've done out at Rivery. Alot easier than seeing the letter "v" in that sculpture out there. :D I don't understand why more of the Arl folks did not make it down there, but I think it has more to do with money than guts. :D

Sep 27 2004, 05:50 PM
Hey fellow DG's. ADGA Club Championships was my first ever tournament, and I am proud to say I had a very good experience. Although my score was terribly humbling I got to share the course with some really top notch players and top notch goodhearted individuals. I just wanted to sya thankyou from me to all of you. Especially Laura, Don, Jason C., and My Hero. Thanks again guys!!! From your newest member.

The Arlington Disc Golf Association would like to invite everyone to our Club Championships on Sunday September 25th, 2005.
Location: SOUTH Pavilion of Veterans Park. Due to a conflict in scheduling we are going to be meeting in the south pavilion, or the Park Pals pavilion. The Ace Golf and One Disc Ace Race will be held around there as we did a couple of years ago.

Sing ups start at 8 am.
Players Meeting at 9 am.
PROMPT start at 9:30.
Please be on time for all the fun!
You may register for the Club Championships at any of the ADGA's weekly events. You must be a current member of the ADGA to play in the club championships. Current Members will need to renew before or on the morning of the club championships to be able to play. Renewal for current members is $10. New Membership is $15 for this event ONLY. Also if you are a past, but not current member, your renewal will be the $10. This is a $5 discount for the CC ONLY!! If you renewed or joined in the months of July and August, you membership dues are carried over to the New Year.
The Club Championships will be $10 per player for two rounds of golf. $2 to the ace pot per round. There is an optional $5 ace golf pot. We will be hosting the Ace Golf in the Oaks for lots of fun after the second round!! Also taking place during the Ace Golf will be the Discraft One Disc Ace Race. You can sign up for one or both of these and everyone gets to play regardless. There will be some plastic for people wanting to just shoot at the buckets. This will be lots of fun as usual. We will be playing 36 holes for the Ace Golf/Ace Race. Lots of fun golf for this weekend.

The ADGA will be providing lunch for all members and their families between the rounds. CTP's for both rounds! We will have a frosty keg on hand following the second round. Come out to Veterans Park and help the ADGA crown new Club Champions.

Sep 21 2005, 03:11 PM
There have been several inquiries about postponing the CC's. At this time I do not see a problem. I would encourage everyone to attend as it will be a great time. just might be a little wet.

Can we take casual relief from the rain drops?

In all seriousness, when does the 2nd round start? :DIt needs to start no later than 2pm. We also need to keep the course rather short. Two rounds in the HEAVY rain is going to be REALLY slow. Maybe we should play the Wed night course.........twice! :p

Sep 21 2005, 06:50 PM
I am sure Pat would have chimed in about the wed pads!!!! The layout right now is pretty short right now, so I will not move anything. I will try to start everything ASAP so we can get out of there.

I also need a couple trucks or a large bed truck to haul all the stuff to the park. I might have to use the van, but that means taking out all the seats!!!!! and I do not know if I can get the score board in there. Might have to do everything manual!!!! Or at least hang the placards on the wall!!!! This is going to be mighty fun!!

Your card will be playing C13 (just to make you take a 3), C15 (to give your card a little variety in scores), C17 (why not, just makes it a 3 for everybody), C18 in the long (see reason listed for C17), C1 (just because I wanted to), C2 (just to make you walk), C5 (just so you'll get a 3, I mean everyone birdies that hole.....right????), and C8 so that The Vet has a legitimate chance at a par 4 /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :D;).

I say 2 rounds from the short pads so I actually have a chance to shoot under par .

And I'll bring my bucket out for the Ace Race :p.

You have chosen wisely.

This?...

"Without question, the greatest invention of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza."

On a serious note...has anyone given thought to our disc golf friends in the Houston area. If anyone hears of anyone needing anything down there let someone know. I have been keeping a watch on their threads. Good luck to all of them. Our corporate office has been evacuated and our manufacturing facilities, vendors and suppliers have been vacated for the duration of "RITA". We have 34 employees who have evacuated to our offices and our homes along with family and friends from the area.

Sep 22 2005, 02:09 PM
So with the storm predicted to come this way, it looks like it may pass to the east of the DFW area. This will cause us to get less rain, but still allot. Some people have asked about postponing the event, but there is allot to consider......

Next weekend is Moody's, the next is AM VPO, then Waterloo, so on and so forth. So not a good date available. We already see the conflict with moving dates as it relates to the TX10. So as it stands right now, we are still on for Sunday.

We still need a couple baskets for the Ace Golf. No added holes to the CC. 18 per round from the concrete pads. Then 36 holes of ace golf.

Baskets so far:
Xerox: 2
Jason:1 or 2??
I have a discather light
Pat's 1 but someone would have to pick up
Anyone else?!?!?!?!

We need a good AM VPO. We'll see what happens.

What a lot of people forget is that when the ADGA player base is low, it's tougher to raise money weekly throughout the year. We HAD a $2650 ace pot that ONLY 60 people were shooting at. In the old days, there would have been 100+ people there. I don't know what stops them from coming, but obviously $2650 wasn't enough to bring them here. If the ADGA player bas is low, then you NEED a good Club Championship turnout to help. With the weather that's expected, it's prolly gonna be a smaller than average Club Champs. With a smaller than average player base AND Club Champs, you MUST have a good AM VPO to make up the lost money. If the AM VPO suffers, then the pro VPO purse suffers. If the Pro VPO purse suffers, then those that came (traveling players) to the Pro VPO will NOT return b/c the money was *****[/b]y

Do you see the vicious circle?

The score was 30-27 Volunteers.

Oh......i knew it was something like that.

I shot a pair of 48's for a 96. Did i at least beat the Vols?

I don't know...what would two 48's be rated?

Did you win? 2nd? I'm seriously interested in the scores...

I have been lucky enough to win in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005. Nolan won in 2002, and 2004.

Sep 27 2005, 05:34 PM
Here are the scores. Like John, I do not recall a bunch after the ace golf. Man was that allot of golf on a very hot day. I have to thank Jason, Andrew and Marlene for sticking it out at the pavillion all day! Thanks you all. Lee and Tricia Dunston helped out in the afternoon and Ginetta as always was there for whatever needed done even though she played. I did not see any trophies left so I hope everyone got theirs!!

PJ Fry's artwork with the stars on it won by two votes. Jeremy Ellis came in second. Jeremy's artwork was the hand drawn one with the VPO as chains. I should have that artwork shortly in digital format, so look for it soon.

Thanks to all the players who made it out. VERY hot weather and the keg was too much for me. Plus I had the Parks guys and the great APD to deal with after everyone left, but all is well. See everyone in a couple weeks for the VPO!!

I also do not have Freeman's card........I will post those if he remembers what he shot. He played in the Grand Masters division.

yea, yea. copy me in on that pm. I would assume one of the park users called in swat from Dunkin Doughnuts because we were driving up to pick up baskets. Funny how almost every cop in Arlington that gets the call to harrass us weighs at least 350 pounds. You would think that the APD would have some sort of physical requirement to pass, but it just takes one look to see they don't.

go here fool (http://www.pdga.com/competition/ratings/index.php) and look for the link towards the bottom that says "Excel template".

with the recent formula changes, etc, it turns out to be impressively close to what the official ratings turn out to be.

Sorry about the late notice on this.

The 2006 ADGA Club Championships will be this Sunday, October 1st. Entry fees and format are the usual. For current members it's $10 to renew your membership and $10 to play. As I already stated I know this is a very late announcement so try to spread the word when you can. Sign-up until 9:30, tee off soon after.

Oh yeah........ACE GOLF featuring My-Hero and the JUG (hopefully). Hope to see everyone out there.

Sep 27 2006, 12:50 PM
Please note that the Z-Boaz mini this Sunday will be canceled . In efforts to promote higher attendance @ the Veterans Club Championship. Go play this one boys and girls, it will be good time's all around!

The JUG better be there.....red cherries and all!

Last 6 years have gone like this:

2000-John Maiuro
2001-John Maiuro
2002-Nolan Grider
2003-John Maiuro
2004-Nolan Grider
2005-John Maiuro

Does anyone else want to play the VPO for free? Nolan and i sure do like free VPO's. Just to sweeten it even more, I'll pony up a few Discraft discs for anyone who wins other than myself or Nolan! :D :p

Still festering in my ignorance........ What's up with the JUG. Let me guess, it's contents have been known to disappear in a rapid manor. And those individuals whom are responsible for the missing contents, usually end up with some sort of JUG legacy? " no sleeping on the tee pads "

Sipping from the JUG brings great wisdom and dexterity. Gulping from the JUG brings laughter and joy. Slamming half of the JUG with one tilt yields unexpected acrobatic moves (head stands) and subsequent headaches. Having Jason spray the contents of the JUG all over you yields a little humiliation and one upset wife. Emptying the JUG means it's time for a refill so we can do it all over again. :D

Actually, the look of the jug itself (or jugs, in Lee's case) is not important. What makes the jug special is what it stands for. That's just not something I can begin to explain, it must be experienced. Sometimes, more than once. I can't wait. :D I love Ace Golf after a Club Championship or VPO!!!!!!

Especially when Jason tries to fill up your mouth from 10 feet away. :DThe course record may be mine(-12), but Kelly Hicks owns the record for unintentional acrobatic manuevers in nine holes.
