I am here to say that first and foremost i love the game. I started playing at Lenora park last summer. It was a great thing to do all day everyday. Now i am still in love with the game and want to see it go somewhere. I am interested in clubs in the surrounding Atlanta areas and see what they are doing for their courses and what not. Me and my friends are in the process of starting up a club and we are pumped about some upcoming projects. I just wanted to see the other disc golf love that was in the ATL.

Have a good one, Parker

ATL knows how to represent. I know lenora is a nothing course for all your moody's and circle R guys but it's our home and we will always love it. it is for the most part an open field and we plan on spicing that up a bit, you guys got any good idea's cause tree's take forever to grow and im getting up outa here in like 2 years

Jan 10 2001, 10:22 PM
You're lucky. Trees get in the way.

Jan 11 2001, 06:56 AM
yea but tree courses randy are very much more interesting and make you a better player than lets say and open field like what steven is talking about above.

Jan 11 2001, 07:56 AM
Hey guys. I played Lenora a couple years ago and you are right- no trees. It is not that there are no trees in the area, rather it seems like course designers took care to keep them out of play. IMO new pin placements would be easiest way to cure this. Is there a club (ADGO?) which oversees the course? Any course improvements should be approved through their channels. It is my understanding that controversy arose due to unapproved course work at Redan (love that course,BTW) a few years back. Good luck.

Jan 11 2001, 08:39 AM
i hope to see that my younger colleagues, steven carse and matt parker have been able to do some landscaping to lenora park when i return from college. just live it up to the lenora llamas. represent our home course

Jan 11 2001, 09:37 AM
The thing I enjoy the most is driving to within 20' of the basket, not having a putt, and my arm bleeding from trying to retrieve my mini. I feel that makes me a better player. http://pdga.com/discus/clipart/proud.gif

Jan 11 2001, 02:32 PM
yeh there def. could be some sweet holes, ive played the course "safari" style i guess where you just play from your own tee's. its pretty sweet, but i don't know how we could involve some of the tree's with the pin placements as they are not there are def. a couple i can think of but most it is perpendicular to where the tree's hard making it hard to shoot towards them.

is anyone on the message board going to be at second saturday at redan this saturday or icebowl in ATL on the 21st? ill be there, give me a shout im interested in how many peeps on the boards play round here at redan and good ole lenora park

Jan 11 2001, 07:38 PM
Hey guys,

My parents live in Marrietta and I am going to visit them before the AM Worlds this year. What are the best courses to play in that area?

Jan 11 2001, 08:14 PM
Meriwether Ant Farm, which is in Hogansville (just a hop, skip, and a jump down I-85) is one to play. The other would be Redan, which is on the east side of town and probably isn't a lot closer to you than Meriwether.

Wills is ok if you can find somebody to show you around.

Jan 11 2001, 09:34 PM
yeh i played wills for the first time and its rough without a map or anything a fun course though, i like meriwhether but redan is my fav. plus second closest to my house. nothing that amazing though where are you from?

Jan 11 2001, 09:50 PM
I live in Vegas and last time I was down there we tried to find one of the courses but the directions were terrible. Ended up taking a long lunch and calling it quits. I will have to let you guys know when I come down so i have locals to play with.

Jan 11 2001, 10:04 PM
sounds good to me pat, im up for a game anytime, shoot i play every day right after school. we ought to have a double tourney once a week at either redan or lenora at like 3.. anyone else want to do something like this?

Jan 11 2001, 11:05 PM
I love Atlanta discgolf! You gotta play Redan. Will be at Lenora Saturday 11ish. Russell, if you see this, hook up with me and Andy at lenora on Sat. Have to watch the kids in the morning so will just miss second saturday at Redan:-( Drag Bobby out there so we can play doubles.

Jan 13 2001, 12:04 AM
Glad to see so much interest in Atlanta disc golf. I think it would be fun to get some doubles goin and some course improvements approvals coming in the spring. Second saturday and the Ice Bowl will be great tourneys to play at fellas. Dont know if i will be able to make either one cause of church and helping my friend move but i think i will try to work something out. Have a good one guys.

Anyone have information on Fire Ant III in Hogansville, May 18-19? How do I sign up?

Apr 25 2002, 08:25 AM
Brian, Check out http://www.discgolfatlanta.com for all the details. Also check out the Days Inn website if you don't plan on camping. The Days Inn in Hogansville is about 1 1/2 from the course.
I will see you there. What Division are you playing?

Support the Key West Inn (706)773-7733. They have supported the tournament in the past, and they are very hospitable to mini golf in the parking lot 'till the wee hours of the morning. Register early for this event, it will fill up. I mean the Fire Ant will fill up, not the mini golf, we don't turn anyone away for that (well, maybe Forrest).

Apr 25 2002, 10:41 AM
welcome to atlanta where the players play

Apr 25 2002, 08:43 PM
I'm looking for a doubles partner for Friday Night doubles at the the Ant Farm on May 17.

Apr 25 2002, 11:00 PM
Brian, as far as I know, it will be random draw. Unless they have changed the format from the last couple of years that is.

Apr 26 2002, 01:36 AM
I gotta tell you guys, Atlanta disc golf rocks! I've only played there once (Redan and Lenora in the '99 Hotlanta), but those courses rock and the tourney was great. Very well run, thanks Wes! http://pdga.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

Apr 26 2002, 08:38 AM
Mike N, Are you and Sandy coming out to play Fire Ant? If so and you want to come up Friday give me a holler. You and Sandy could stay with us on Friday night. We live about an hour away so you could drive here on Friday night then drive to the course on Saturday. This would save you the cost of a hotel on Friday. Let me know.

Mike D

Apr 26 2002, 08:53 AM
Thanks, Ryan, random draw sounds good to me.

Apr 26 2002, 03:20 PM
Thanks, Mike D. We might take you up on that. I'll let you know something after the Lakefront Open next weekend. cool?http://pdga.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

Apr 26 2002, 03:59 PM
Mike N, Just let me know. I would even consider dropping down to play Advanced except for the fact that I would be ragged on all weekend by Ryan.

Apr 26 2002, 09:25 PM
Well I could always play Pro Masters except then I would have to put up with Jim "rolling fool" Warner!! LOL!!

Mike D

Apr 26 2002, 10:41 PM
Yeah Mike,

I know you got another year to go before you can join me in the "old guy" division, but I'll be damned if I'll let you take over my captain's position. You'll have to EARN IT. Practice missing those 10' putts for birds on 400' holes! See you next year.

Apr 26 2002, 11:06 PM
Cool I found a cuss word that isn't automatically ****'ed out!

Apr 27 2002, 01:23 AM
C'mon, guys... Mike D. hasn't cashed yet, and he does owe me a whoopin' for the '01 South Eastern Classic... he would've caught me if there were two more holes in the final 9!/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif I just happened to play well at Hornet's Nest that weekend... Renny almost threw me out of it!/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif
Seriously, Sandy wants to wait and make a definite decision about FireAnt after the Lakefront next weekend, so I'll let you know, bro'. Hey, does Bret Rousseau still live in Hotlanta? My bud Brady and I stayed with him and his brother Dave for the '99 Hotlanta (they were the first guys to ever put a disc in my hands), and we had a blast playing croquet each night after the tourney rounds...(neither of them played the tourney that weekend, but they still let us crash over...too cool and super fun!!!)/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Wed Night Doubles @ Wills Park
Thur. Night Doubles at Oregon Park

Since you'll be working I'm sure that won't help. Redan usually has some people playing a Random draw doubles on Fri. afternoon (2:00-3:00 tee) Weekends there is always somthing going on at Redan, especialy Sunday morning doubles (meet behind hole three) Sunday is also the day that the ADGO will be holding their bi-anual club tourney at Merriwether. I'll be at Redan Sunday if you wanna hook up. Email me if you need more info. I'll try to find out what special Saturday Action is going on. If your interested in driving, Augusta has a tourney at Pendelton King Park starting at 10:00 on Saturday. Great course to play in the spring with all the flowering trees and bushes there. Hope this helps

Apr 30 2002, 12:24 AM
Working nights? I thought you gave up that line of work Ben?

Nov 21 2002, 01:51 PM
Redan usually has some people playing a Random draw doubles on Fri. afternoon (2:00-3:00 tee)

Is it going on now?

I'm in ATL for work and have tomorrow off - was thinking I might hit Wills park tomorrow AM, but would be willing to try and find Redan for some good disc action.

Hey, just wondering, I lived in Atlanta for a little while, went out to the courses and there seemed to be some kind of angst between people who territorialy "claimed" their courses. Have you guys gotten over that yet?

Nov 21 2002, 07:54 PM
I spent a month in atlanta last winter, being from michigan is was great. Redan is a cool park with many great holes, but my fav was lenora park wide open fun. All the people I met were very friendly and cool people. If your ever in ATLANTA go play all the courses.

Nov 21 2002, 09:55 PM
Atlanta is a great Disc Golf town but we're not that unified as of yet. We're not quite as territorialy as Cali surf punks are, but there is a certian amount of pride (or scorn) as to what park you call your home course. Maybe some day we can all live together as brotheren but until then... Wills Park Kicks [*****]!!! Thank You for your attention, please return to your normal surfing and lurking

I relieved myself on hole #8 at Wills today, does that count?

Nov 22 2002, 03:28 AM
Just Wondering....I like Atlanta though, great place to visit and play.

Nov 22 2002, 03:33 AM
There is no doubt that Atlanta is the best. Wills park does have a bit of a click to it, but they are always really friendly and Jim Warner is one of the hardest working players in the history of the game! Wills is the best!!!

Nov 22 2002, 03:35 AM
Oh and one more thing. If you need any tips or help with your game see Ryan Renz. Ryan is a great player who hasn't fully showed his potential in tournaments as of yet. He is just the best guy, friendly and fun loving. What more could you ask for?

He needs a new washer and dryer. They seem to shrink his pants all the time.

Stan McDaniel, the great Christian disc golf hero. It is funny how such a great Christian is using such lewd remarks toward his fellow man. Of course there is another side of the story to Stan McDaniel that comes from a very reliable source but there is no need to discuss that now is there? Thanks Stan and keep up the good work! You are the best, and I don't think that Climo holds a candle to your greatness.

Nov 23 2002, 09:52 PM
Dear "Lord". Your interpretation of my remark as lewd astounds me. Ryan wear knickers. His washer and dryer shrunk his pants, i.e. knickers. Thats all there is to my remark, feeble humor. Ryan is a pleasure to golf with and I agree with your assessment of his character.

As to your comments on my character, of course there is another side to me. I frequently fail to reflect the character of the real Lord in my thoughts, words and actions. I'm simply a sinner saved by grace. If I have offended you ,(whoever you are),or your reliable source by my behavior, how about we talk about it so I can come clean?

And, what does Climo have to do with anything?

Nov 23 2002, 10:53 PM
Good going Lord of Dance, you royally misunderstood Stan's attempt at humor. Goodness gracious, you're dumb.

Nov 25 2002, 10:34 AM
Lord of the Dance,
Attacking someone's character through innuendo in a public forum is uncalled for. Take it to the person in private.

Nov 25 2002, 12:31 PM
Hey Atlanta, Don't forgetthe Christmas Classic in Bham December 7th. That is if you are not going to the Coca cola deal.

Nov 26 2002, 12:24 AM
I misunderstood, I am sorry.

Anybody know Todd? He called me the other day, but didn't leave a message. I'm in Alaska and I assume it's about him playing up here. If anyone knows Todd, please have him e-mail me at akdiscgolf@hotmail.com Thanks.

Todd Breiner runs the PDGA Fulfillment Center which processes PDGA memberships and stuff, and he is a distributor for Ching and I think he is Lynx. He could have been calling you about a lot of stuff. If you call the phone number at the top of the page, they can hook you up.
