View Full Version : What's This Disc?

I bought a disc at a garage sale yesterday and the local cognoscienti (wise guys) cannot tell me what the _ _ _ _ it is. can you???

It's light mustard yellow, the same size as the rest of my discs with the blunt, rounded edge of an Aviar. Soft plastic, very grippy, absolutely no manufacturer's marks anywhere top or bottom. The local guys say the profile's wrong for an Aviar and they both agree on this without consulting each other first, so I'll buy that.

It does have what appears to be a weight designation ("147") where you'd expect it to be.

The killer thing about this disc is the stamp. It's a circular purple and green foil stamp of a marijuana plant with two legends. The main legend, running around the outside, reads "CALIFORNIA SINSEMILLA / NO. 1 CASH CROP" and the minor legend, running just inside this, reads "The Kind Take Time In Joy".

I've checked eBay - both acive and complete - and found nothing like this. Anybody have a clue??

Chris,

This was a stamp used by Destiny Discs back in the 80's - and I only ever saw it on Super Puppies. If it's got a beveled edge - my guess is it's either a laser or a bullet - more likely a laser - as I don't remember a run of yellow bullets. Then again - if it looks alot like an aviar - it could be a "Long Ranger". Check the diameter - because the laser and bullet were both 19.9cm discs - the long ranger was closer to aviar size.

If it's in mint condition be sure as to not throw it. The last one I saw on e-bay was a super puppy with the same stamp and it finally sold for something like $350. There is a thread on here somwhere that talks about it.

Your local wise-guys sound like newbies if they don't recognize that disc!

At a garage sale? You scored big time.

Thanks, guys - I knew I could count on you.

The disc is used (but not totally beat to he11) so I'll probably throw it for a while I see if it finds a spot in my bag.

Either that or put it up on eBay (I don't think it's worth $350 but if it is, ka-CHING!!)

Now for some reason I find two of them in the completed auctions, each listed at $60 and neither sold.

Still a nice disc :-)
