The Viking and Starfire are straighter flyers. The viking is a line drive disc for a power player (400 ), or a longer substitute for a FL for a normal player. Starfire is comparable to a more high speed stable less low speed overstable Champion Beast.

how does the flight of the starfire compare to that of a t-bird? not [11x] aside from the fact it is faster?

I threw one of the Starfires over the weekend and all I have to say is...[*****] that disc is fast. I am more impressed with it than I am the Beast. First throw without a warm up or stretching went about 360-370. Which for me is pretty good. Can't wait for them to go into regular production. They are still going into regular production next year aren't they Dave?

yeah, who has the vikings?
Dave,
Do you have any preliminary numbers for the Viking?
The Starfire is 10, 4, -0.5, 2 (according to innovadiscs.com)

The Viking was approved for PDGA play in early June, but remember, there is a waiting period before they can be used for certain tournaments.

Yes. You can't introduce a new breakthrough technology one week before Worlds and only give it to your team members to dominate with. I think that's the logic behind the rule. Needs to be out long enough for all competitiors to have a shot at acquiring them.
I think it is only for Worlds, though.
no matter the cost? so as long as everyone can pay 30 its cool

DGRZ002,
You are correct. A disc must be released and in general circulation 30 days prior to a WDGC in order to be used in it.
This rule came from the situation in the 1983 WDGC in Huntsville, where the new, high tech disc, the Aero, was easily obtainable in certain parts of the country well before the event and was not in other parts. Even though it was available for purchase at the WDGC, it was felt that the competitors who had the disc for quite some time before that had an "unfair" advantage.
The Aero was allowed for that tournament, and this rule came out before the next WDGC in Rochester.
Of course, I was only 7 at the time, so my memory may be somewhat incomplete... /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif

I'm 003.
Dave Dunipace, are CFR Starfires currently available in the low to mid-160s?

A lot of questions all at once. Rob, the Vikings have been released, they are not fundraisers, but are only available to promoters, which is basically the same as fundraisers. The difference is regular price and full release when we can make more. Similar grip as the Valkyrie and a similar flight, just straighter. I can't come up with the numbers right now, sorry.

felix, the Starfires did go down to the mid sixties. I am not sure about the low 60's.
Thanks for the reply, Dave.
I had a chance to throw a 174 a few times last Friday, which is 7-10g heavier than I normally throw. Didn't really notice a significant difference in terms of speed, flight, or distance in comparison to CE/JK Valks and Proline/Champion Beasts, but that may be due to the extra weight. I'll have to pick up a couple of mid-60s Starfires to make a proper comparison. (Yeah, right. More like, to feed my PLASTIC ADDICTION! /clipart/happy.gif)
Might as well pick up some Vikings while I'm at it. /clipart/happy.gif
WHO HAS THE VIKINGS FOR SALE RIGHT NOW?

Rhett,
Of course you are right, you are 003. I realized after I hit the Enter key that Scott Wolfe was 002 and you are 003.
I'm glad you made the correction, because having you and Scott confused would be detrimental to his memory.
Pardon my French, but, Hoover DAM I miss him... /msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif

Disc Chucker:
I agree I was impressed with the Starfire also. It is a super fast and straight disc. I to throw that 350 to 375 without warm up. I would say the top distance that I had thrown was 450 with a Starfire, but I know there's more room for distance there. hehe.

Ginnelly still has some Worlds stamped Starfires if anyone is interested.
curious how heavy they were. I thought they were more fast and dumpy then glidy. They do have about the perfect intial flip (best begining flight) and really held for longer then expected considering how stable they were when they just start to think about trailing out and falling off.(which is quite fast at all speeds) My thought were of the perfect side arm disk ever! Pretty much can do what ever you want it to do.. but glide! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif Wonder how it performs in anything but a head wind.
