View Full Version : Austin Disc Golf League
I was wondering if there'd be much interest in an Austin Disc Golf League? I know there are other things out there that are similar but not quite what I have in mind. Right now i run a little league with 9 guys. Thinking it would be cool to expand. Sign up or express interest by sending me an email to: atmoore@austin.rr.com
Please include your name, ph. # and Ace pot preference Option A or B.
Here's some of the rules we currently play under:
League Play which are open to discussion.
1)League fee undetermined. (was thinking $25; trophies, ace pot and payout)
2)Players must complete a 20 game schedule in head-to-head format within the league dates.
3)one division.
4)No ties. Ties broken by playing continuous holes until somebody scores lower.
5)season starts Oct. 1 through Dec 31.
6)courses included in schedule will be CC, Searight, Bart, Pease, RR?, CR?.
7)pre-designated player from each match will email me the results.
8)commish will email weekly results and standings.
Playoffs: Jan 04
1)tiered matchups based upon final season records at end of season: ie 1 vs 16, 2 vs. 15 etc.
2)first playoff rounds are single elimination.
3)The final four play best 2-of-3 semifinal tiered matchups. ie. 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3 at predetermined course
4)Final 2 play best 2-of-3 championship series at predetermined course.
5)100% payout for final four ie. 45-30-15-10% split.
Ace Pot:
Was really wanting the ace pot to be something worthwhile.
Option A)
$1 per player per round which would be taken out of the league fee. So, for example if we had 20 players and 20 games, that puts the ace pot at $400? But, I'd have to increase the league fees.
Option B:
Take $5 from everybody's league fee.
We'd have to vote on it.

On what days wil there be league play?? Do you automatically forfiet if you can't make it?
Thanks
Good question. Once a schedule is made, it's up to the two matched up opponents to decide when and where to play. Included in the schedule would be his/her phone and email and what days/nights are best for them to play.
Example
Matchup 1:
Todd (280-6409/anytime) vs emmajanedad (443-8878/days)
If there's at least 20 players, I'll enable my website to accept payment for league fee.
Oh, no forfeits. The only forfeit would be if a player didn't play the entire schedule. He then wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.
Sounds like fun if I had lots of money and did not have to work!
With a changing work schedule, it would be really tough to make all the events.../msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif
too bad. I don't think getting in all the rounds would be too difficult given all the match tee times are up to each pair. But with a new work schedule, it might be rough.
So if I had a match against Nix could we schedule it during a mini? Or does it have to just the 2 of us? How about multiple matchups during a mini?
**Oh, no forfeits. The only forfeit would be if a player didn't play the entire schedule. He then wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs. **
What if I get tired of it and decide with my pitiful record that I will just not play my last few matchups? Would that screw the people I was supposed to compete against?
Great questions. I hadn't really thought of your last one.
Let's see.
1)Yes, you could play nix during a mini; whereas lowest score would win.
2)Yes, mulitple matchups during mini. With a flex schedule, you and your opponent decide where and when to play. If you and your opponent wanted to play along with another matchup, that's even better. You don't even have to play your games in order of the schedule; just as long as you play everybody on your schedule.
3)I doubt you'll have a pitful record. But for arugument's sake, let's say you do and you quit. We'd need to make up all affected matches so that everybody has an equal opportunity to play the same number of matches and same chances for the acepot.
It's just a matter of time before someone asks me how two opponents chose where to play....draw straws, flip a coin, pull from hat.
p.s. just thought of something...we may have to ommit matches at searight to avoid the temptation of everybody playing there for the easy ace runs?
are you threatning me?/msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif
We've got 10-11 guys wanting to play in this head-to-head 20game league season. Need a few more. C'mon guys!
has it been said whether the games are match play or stroke play?
how about having at least one of the weeks be designated as glow rounds?
anyone else getting geared up for the glow season?
it's either glow or drive to the night lit course in houston, but i can't just come inside at 8pm and watch disc tapes every night.
Denny,
Stroke play.
And no mando night rounds. Of couse the two opponents can always choose to play in the dark if they want to.
I manage to play in the fog most of the time.
Would you like me to add you to our emailer?

Todd, do you wanna add one more person to the league? Martin Rendon says he wants to get in.
Jeff,
Sure. I've already rec'd a registration payment for a 10th player today. Martin would make the 11th. That would cap our schedule up to 30 matches.
Anymore players and we'll have to work out a different schedule strategy.
He can go to the website and pay:
http://www.discgolftrophy.com/league/
The league pot is now up to $400.
The payouts:
1st - $115
2nd - $75
3rd - $55
4th - $45
Acepot - $110
Anybody else interested in playing in this league has one more week to register.

Maybe we could reel James Mccaine in by opening a masters division. Or is he a Grand Master.......

The tournament scene can't even reel him in offering a masters or grand master division. I think we're stuck with James in the Open division or at least till he gets lucky and beats some Open guys (good ones that is). He gives the time factor excuse as to why he won't play league, but truth of the matter is James kinda crumbles in match play.http://www.pdga.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

Attn: Talk of meeting at Wimberly for some head to head action is circulating, anybody up for this should post here and let us know. It would be nice to get quite a few of the guys who have not yet played any matches to get out and play if possible. Lets pull those boot straps up and dig in fellas!!!
Looks like I will have to work this weekend but not sure if I'm working both days. Most likely because it is the last 2 weeks of the quarter. My schedule will not change until November. Possibly the 1st week.
