View Full Version : Erasers illegal?

Jun 25 2003, 12:38 PM
I had a friend warned at a recent tournament that carrying an eraser was against PDGA rules. I looked through the rule book, and, unless I missed it, I didn't see that rule. Does this rule exist or were they mistaken?

I always carry an eraser, and it comes in handy every tournament when the first person on the card writes down the scores of the first four holes on one through four when it should have been seven through ten, for example.

Having an eraser is not against the rule, using an eraser to change scores is against the rules. Mistakes happen, but typically even with erasers, it leaves a mark, be sure that you get any alteration to scorecard signed by more than one person on the card, if not the entire group!

No such rule.

Now using one in the wrong manner is another story.

Thank you.

Carrying an eraser is not illegal under PDGA rules. Neither is using an eraser to change the score on a scorecard. If a score is entered incorrectly, there is no rule against using an eraser to remove the incorrect info so you can enter the correct score. Another non-rule rule. If it's not in the PDGA rule book, it's not a PDGA rule.

yeah, exactly what rule is that jack? i've never seen it. as long as the scores are readable and totaled correctly i thought it was ok. do you even need to sign the card anymore?

If that really was a rule, everyone who carries a soft putter would be DQ'ed.

I've fixed many a "scores in the hole 1 column" error with my trusty SE Rhyno.

The rule was referencing cheating, which was my inference. Sorry if I did not spell it out.

Hmmmmmmm....... /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif

"Um, no sir mister Competition Director. I was just fixing the scores....er, I mean fixing a WRONGLY WRITTEN score. No, I wouldn't know anything about shaving just the right dent into a soft Rhyno to make it cut a little harder right on the up-and-over pan route to the pin. Nothing like that sir..."

"Titanic", that's what my putter was last week.
An unsinkable thing that was only sunk once.
Well maybe a few more times, but it wnet back and forth so much, it should have had "Duncan" printed on it.

There was a movie titled "Eraser Head". Very stange, came out about the time "Repo Man" did.

"Eraser Head" was one of David Lynch's early movies and 'very strange' is probably not an accurate description. A must see for a trip into the realm of twisted and peculiar.

"Eraser Head" is indeed a very strange movie. Saw it in college when it came out. Check it out with enhancements!
